Coffee Aroma in Lincoln

It was such a lovely place in the past but recently something happended with staff and I was treated like trash with racist comments, nothing to deserve it. And no explanation given, it seems they think they can treat paying customers like street beggars if they don't like their nationality or their friends. Completely inappropriate. I take my custom elsewhere. Edit: Reply says about court order. Such order does not exist. I was the one who was told off for not being English. You got people mixed up mate. I'm not coming in for such treatment. Plenty of better places around. At least don't lie to make youselfs looking good and just admit mistake. You can make customer feel bad only once, no apologies, that's your management.

Such a lovely coffee shop, we visited pretty much every day we were in Lincoln. The drinks were gorgeous and the atmosphere was even better. Highly recommend!

I recently visited Lincoln from the USA. Before my trip I did a bit of reading up on the local coffee houses and marked a few as "must visit." Oddly, a not-so-flattering review of Coffee Aroma is what made me decide I *must* visit. The reviewer sounded entitled, self-centered and unctuous...they had no problem with the coffee, the service or the ambiance. Apparently, they didn't like the music and kept turning it off so they could listen to their own. Anyone who has the audacity to walk into someone's place of business (or home!) and think it's OK to take control of the playlist or mess with the sound equipment shouldn't be allowed out in public. I found the music at Coffee Aroma to be absolutely perfect. As was the coffee, the tea, the hot chocolate, and all the cakes, croissants and toasties I consumed over the course of two weeks while I was in town. My only regret was not asking if the playlist is available on Spotify (if it's not, please consider it!) I will definitely be coming back--every day-- when I'm back in Lincoln this summer. I will miss not coming here every day!

Still the best coffee shop in town. Great coffee great atmosphere and wonderful staff.

You place your order at the counter on the ground floor and climb up a narrow winding staircase to tables upstairs. Your food is brought up to you. We had to wait a while for ours to be served. Not the most comfortable or accessible cafe.

Amazing coffee! Great staff and excellent service. If you want a real coffee come here, you won't be disappointed. Lovely cosy environment too.

An excellent coffee shop placed perfectly near the centre of the High Street. Excellent staff, well trained baristas, and some of the best coffee in Lincoln. Plus the building is beautiful definitely make sure you check out the second floor

I was over visiting family and stopped in for a coffee, as I would prefer not to go to big named coffee shops. Instantly regretted it! The girl with green hair was very rude, cut my sister off as she ordered her coffee and then cut me off as I was ordering mine (because they don't do decafe). My sister who had ordered her coffee before me went ahead with her order, even though the girl reeked of attitude. I personally would've left there and then. I ended up going to Starbucks and although unhappy about going atleast the staff were friendly. My sister that got the coffee said it was awful and wished she had got a Starbucks. I also checked the shops website which says "Hosting the widest selection of single origin coffee, we offer only the highest quality products and our award-winning experience is demonstrated through the staff that we train." This made me laugh as I have never experienced such bad service from ANY coffee shop! I'm a breastfeeding mother also, so to go to a coffee shop that doesn't serve decafe is a massive let down. Horrible experience and will definitely not be back.

Great decaf tea. Great general staff team. Awful owner. This is a really mixed review. I spent a lovely couple of hours on the top floor of Aroma drinking several pots of decaf tea and a cinnamon swirl served by polite and cheery staff and enjoying the warmth of the sunshine through the window. I was on my own for most of the time, and then I was joined by 2 small groups. When I arrived, I'd turned of the music coming from the speaker, as I'd found the music selection irritating and preferred to listen to the busker outside. After an hour and a half, suddenly a person swoops in who I'd not seen before, walks straight in, reaches over a customers head, turns on the speaker and goes into the store cupboard, so clearly a member of staff. A minute or so later, dashes out again and goes downstairs, not saying a word! So I turned to the other customers and explained that I had turned the speaker off and would it be ok to turn it off again and all agreed. With one saying, yes, it is quite annoying. Peace resumes. 15 minutes later, the 2 groups leave, and the same member of staff swoops in and again turns the speaker on and starts tidying up. I explain that I'd like the music off. He replied that they were now very busy and this floor would be filing up. I said ok. But I was the only one here now, and when I'd asked the other customers previously, they were happy to have it off. He muttered something and left. So I turned the speaker off again! By now I was thinking about my lunch. I had planned to stay and buy lunch there, but the person made me feel so unwelcome I decided to leave. On my way out, I wanted to speak to the person, but they weren't there, so I spoke to the staff team behind the counter about the person I described, and they said he's the owner. I explained what had happened and why I was leaving they looked uncomfortable but didn't say anything. At that moment, the owner bustled through the front door, and I asked to speak to him. He walked away, starting to go up the stairs. So I called after him saying that he'd made me uncomfortable upstairs, that I would have stayed and bought more, but I was leaving because of him. He kept walking up the stairs and said, "Bye then." I appreciate music is personal choice and can add to the atmosphere of a place, but if a customer asks to turn it off, I don't really see what the issue was, especially when I was on my own! A sad end to my visit to a great little place in the spring sunshine that served great decaf tea. ......

Wow! Just wow! By far the finest coffee experience ever. Proper espresso cup, perfectly toasted panini and a brownie to die for. Expertly presented and nothing too much trouble. Dog friendly (sat outside) and great service. Highly recommended

This coffee shop has some outside seating in a pleasant street. We sat in the small area downstairs but there is also additional space upstairs. We both had a flat white which was nicely presented with a glass of water and it cost £3.17.

I have never come across better coffee in my life, it is rich and smooth and I would pay triple what they charge. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, you could not fault such an amazing cafe.

Was led to believe on the online menu that there would be a good dark hot chocolate here. I don't like it sweet so I always look for somewhere doing a dark option. What a disappointment! So unbelievably sweet could only manage one sip. Really quite disgusting. My husband said it was made with a syrup - I think they just add extra syrup for a 'dark' but it just ends up undrinkably sweet. Wouldn't go back there.

Tried for a second time. Once again disappointed. Unwelcoming was our first impression. No hello from two young ladies serving..Yes the place has character. But first floor room seemed a bit grubby. Will not go back.

The greatest coffee I tried in Lincoln. I ordered (on two days) a Flat white with an extra shot which tasted very great and had powerful caffeine, it's real coffee.

Enjoyed a fantastically strong and hot flat white with a glass of water, people watching outside. No wonder there were queues!

Rally great barista made coffee with a quirky interior that is worth a look.

Had a bit of a awkward encounter with barista, but the place is beautiful, you could spend hours here.

Great coffee, great staff, great vibe.

Flapjack and coffee is good but the service was bad. There are too many workers behind the bar and it takes more than one to serve you apparently. One took my order and another placed a coffee on the bar to be taken, it was not the coffee I ordered so I was confused when they stared at me, expecting me to take the coffee. They don't have the warm customer service a coffee shop should have.

Based on the reviews, I thought I would love this place so I went first thing on a Saturday morning. Service was polite but indifferent. The Americano was quite sour. The music was great but too loud for first thing in the morning. However the greatest disappointment was the red velvet cake - I ordered this based off another glowing review. It was clearly not fresh baked, at least a day old and dry. An overall disappointing experience. Cute rooms though.

We visited today, family of four. Ordered four paninis, two lattes and two cans of fizzy orange. Came to £36. The lattes were served in small glasses on a wooden tray with water and were very strong, nothing like a latte. I had to put two sugars in and it was still too strong. When the paninis arrived they were warm on the outside but every one of them was cold in the middle. The brie and cranberry paninis had cranberry spilling out. No one came to ask how the food was. I felt completely ripped off.

My husband enjoyed a coffee with you today, but sadly there were no decaf coffee options so I had to go without. Please consider introducing this to your menu in the future?

As always a great experience. Affordable coffee prices and excellent use of coffee blend. Everything you need from a coffee shop. Also make sure you try their red velvet cake, it's a must. 100% would recommend 👌

Coffee aroma was a little gem we found mainly because it started to rain and we needed a drink. It’s very cosy inside and there’s upstairs seating. We sat outside and there was very effective heaters as it was a bit chilly. The drinks were well presented and the coffee was good and normally priced. There’s no parking directly by the cafe but you’d be unlikely to need to park next to the place. Only downside with sitting outside is chavs vaping and smoking. 😔 but this affects every coffee place I’ve been to.

Sorry to say we experienced poor customer service here from two bar staff members. Coffee was good but we were made to feel uncomfortable by the man and lady. Don’t like to leave bad reviews but have to say I was surprised, sorry guys.

Very good service the coffee has a special taste

Our first visit to Lincoln. We had our dog with us and needed outside seating or takeaway. (Admittedly we tried Costa first for a takeaway but the service was so slow we gave up). So glad we spotted this place instead. Excellent drinks, friendly service and delicious carrot cake. Loved the little plants on the outside tables, a little thing but made a great impression.

Best coffee in Lincoln. Really tasty pour over. Lovely place to come sit and read for a bit.

Been going for 4-5 years, lovely staff. Dog Friendly. Serves food (I don't think they are currently, but still are selling cakes.) They do takeouts, you can sit inside or out with 3 floors of seating (not big rooms, but decent sized.) Also have free WiFi. They do a variety of drinks - including smoothies when it is a hot season (i.e summer). I highly recommend going.

Amazing dog friendly place! Incredible exciting menu, the cakes were delicious and the fun mish mash decore plays really nicely with the small rooms scattered around. Service was prompt and friendly! Couldn’t be better.

I am from Nottingham and we was in Lincoln visiting friends and they took us here. What a treat, such friendly staff, great options and really well priced. Will be going again the next time we are in Lincoln

This place ticks every box. Super choice of cakes and tray bakes. (I had the vegan carrot cake tray bake. Yum!) Would definitely recommend it to people visiting Lincoln. Sat outside and watched the world go by. Situated on a street with no cars and bikes give way to pedestrians. (Why don't more cities and towns adopt that policy?)

Absolutely favourite place to grab a coffee in Lincoln. The staff are so lovely and friendly. The coffee is great and although we're not able to sit inside at the moment - the atmosphere is still very good. I miss sitting in because its a very cool building and the decor is wonderful. I sat for many hours beside a radiator writing my dissertation and sipping on a white chocolate mocha. Yum!

"Pot of loose leaf tea" was a tea bag in a paper cup which they had the cheek to charge me £3.70 for. I understand times are tough but this is simply not good enough.

Understand the need to obey social distancing but the bar staff here (one in particular) on my first visit were so power trippy about distancing that it was just not fun. A waitress with red hair was shouting at people to 'go back round the corner' when they were already waiting outside for the green light and were well over two metres away from anyone. It was a bit much.

Really friendly staff, went while I was at college for my lunch break and for a filming location, they were happy for us to use the upstairs room, plenty of seating, great coffee and the hot chocolate was amazing. Free wifi is quick and works really well. The whole place in general is really very nice.
