Best sandwiches in Arundel. And they are massive as well. Eat in and take away. The take away bags are thermal as well. The bread they use for sandwiches is super tasty, totally fresh.

Having recently moved to the area, this place is a fantastic find. A gorgeous little old fashioned tea room serving wonderful food. The atmosphere is very relaxing and calming. Old style furnishings and classical music gently playing in the background create an environment that is hard to find these days. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and nothing seems to be too much trouble. On a previous visit we had the Sussex rarebit which was super. This time it was just tea and cake but the rose and raspberry sponge cake was absolutely amazing. Please never change. This is a little slice of almost forgotten English style and we love it.

It's really terribly twee here - not in a bad way though it seems a bit of a pastiche and not especially to our taste. My husband had the very generous cheese Ploughman's Lunch and I had the macaroni and cheese, which was sadly patchily hot and light on macaroni. Friendly, efficient service. I suspect they know their market niche here - which perhaps isn't us.

Had an excellent afternoon tea. The tea rooms are tucked away from the High Street but we'll worth the deviation. It is next to the museum and above the sweet shop. Quaint and olde world feel. The selection of teas is very good. Every type you can think of but coffee and hot chocolate if you prefer. Nice selection of sandwiches and then a copious amount of cakes, all delicious. We couldn't finish it all. Praise must go to the staff who were attentive but not intrusive and welcoming. One our party had advised that they wanted to avoid dairy and they were catered for (although they cream scones proved irresistible). We ordered a cheese scone and it came with grapes, pickle, cheese, all beautifully presented. A pot of the delicious loose tea can yield several cups. There is a wonderful and very varied choice of many different teas and the whole experience feels a little like going back to better times in the past as the relaxing classical music plays in the background. Service is very friendly and you are waited on hand and foot and feel very much at home. I was also very impressed that gluten free options are available. If possible, Cockburn's exceeded our already very high hopes.Entering the tea rooms, you feel as if you could be in the early 20th Century. Beautiful oak beams adorn the ceiling, exceptional china is on display and the tables are all furnished with what seem to be hand-woven table cloths. The menu is diverse, offering a selection of different, traditional home-made cakes, as well as delicious main courses (steak and kidney pudding etc.), cream teas and even ice-cream sundaes.I had the cream tea (with clotted cream and jam), which was simple the best cream tea I can remember having and my wife requested a chocolate fudge sundae, which she had seen mentioned in a comment on tripadvisor - despite this not being on the menu that day, the proprietor still made it for us.The whole experience of dining here is wonderful, not to mention reasonably priced and we will certainly return. Highly recommended!

A cute upstairs tea room with beautifully payed tables. No overpowering service but considerate. Cakes and selection of tea are great. Authentic sweet store underneath owned by tea rooms & you get a 10% discount. Both had the Sussex apple cake which was delicious. Would highly recommend. All Portmerion crockery. High tea looked lovely.

Quiet unobtrusive classical music, a warm welcome, lace table cloths, matching china, cloth serviettes presented in serviette rings all set the scene for an excellent experience. We were not disappointed. My wife had the Sussex Cheese Tea which was served with warm melt in the mouth cheese scones. I had porridge but this was no ordinary serving as it came beautifully cooked with a side dish of little pots of honey, dried cranberries, cinnamon, walnuts and a larger dish of sliced pears. Unbelievable. All this with impeccable service from friendly staff and reasonable prices. If I lived in Midhurst I'd be there every week. Simply wonderful.

Discovered this quaint tea room tucked up a side street, above the Midhurst Museum. Excellent attention to detail, a true English Tearoom with very good service. We only stopped in for tea and cake, the cakes were delicious and of generous portion, and a pot of tea for two would have given us eight cups, if we could have managed it. We shall visit again soon, and leave an extra tip, as I was so taken in with the surroundings, appallingly I forgot to do so! Next time we shall savour a meal. Add Cockburn's to your to do list, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Having made a visit to Woolbeding Gardens, we made our way to this tea/coffee café. On a recommendation of a local person.Leaving the community car park, walking along side of the duck pond, turning left on to the road . Walk up this road past the Spread Eagle Hotel, and the Swan Pub. Right up the hill and past Lloyds bank on the right. As you go round the corner you will see Knockhundred Market and Cockburns Café.You have to go up steps to enter the café but it is fitted out as a very much as an English Tearooms a wonderful ambience. The food is excellent, they do cream teas through to chicken pie, lasagne , scampi etc. , sandwiches , jacket potatoes . I had the Lasagne, and my wife had the Fish pie. Quite a good menu. They have a wonderful looking sweet shop below the Café, but being diabetic I was unable to sample its wares.Opening times are as follows.Mon Closed Tue — Sat 10:30 — 16:00 Sun 12:00 — 16:00 .

Went with friends for a snack lunch. Difficult to see on approach as upstairs in the arcade. Once inside very nice and services and food very good. Real tea in a china pot with nice cups, saucers etc. Cakes, sandwiches and especially good chips! Best in Midhurst where there is lots of other tea rooms, 7 last count plus hotels. Recommended.

Looking for a late lunch we came across this lovely little tea room having rejected another which was distinctly less friendly (and didn't cater for GF).The menu choice was good, the service very personal and friendly. Food was excellent, as was the milkshake. We would not hesitate to go back on our next visit to Midhurst.

We found Cockburn's by accident but would certainly seek it out in future. The service was excellent - friendly, prompt and helpful. The food quality was excellent. My friend wanted tea and cake and I needed a (very) late lunch, as we had been to a nearby village attraction which hadn't catered for gluten free. At Cockburn's there are more gluten-free options than are shown on the menu. I had excellent sandwiches on good quality gf bread, and excellent chips. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, and although we didn't know it, we had arrived just before closing time. There was absolutely no hint of this, and we were treated very courteously - only finding out about closing time when we saw it on the door as we left. Top marks for service for this - and our apologies for not realising!

My partner and I stoppped for tea here on our way back to Reading after a weekend in Chichester. From the moment we walked in the service could not have been better. All the staff were warm, friendly and helpful and the young lady who served us was really lovely. The food was fantastic, the scones sublime and the rarebit delicious. We will definitely visit again when we're next in Midhurst, a lovely end to our weekend away, thanks to all.Oriana & Jacques

My elderly mother and I enjoyed tip top service with a smile at this lovely little restauranttoday. Quality food with an excellent choice was professionally presented and real treat to tuck into on this cold Easter Saturday. Very attentive staff made this a real little gem I'd highly recommend seeking out. Olde Worlde place where tea for two was served in a dainty china teapot and matching cups and saucers, something to sit back and enjoy after a very generous seafood platter. We will return later in the Spring for their traditional afternoon tea which looked very tempting indeed. Top marks.

My wife and I shared a cream tea with a cup of coffee here. Service was very good, my Cappuccino was surprisingly large, but had a pretty decent flavour (so not just all milk). The cream tea consisted of what looked like home-made scones, one fruit and the other wholemeal - served with generous portions of jam and clotted-cream. Plenty to share between the two of us.The setting is really very pleasant. Happy to recommend.

We had decided to visit Midhurst as we have not been there for some time. Having carried out some research beforehand we had decided on 2 possible places to eat for lunch. We are so pleased we chose Cockburns. The attention to detail, the quality of the tea and food and the service can't possibly be bettered. We are sure you could chose anything on the menu and not be ue let down at all. A real gem and so very English, we will certainly be back.

This is one of my favourite breakfast places, the food is of excellent quality, they never skimp on the fillings and the prices are reasonable. Always piping hot and served with a smile. You can’t ask for anything better. My next try is the steak sandwich 😊

Popped in to use the loo but it looked so clean and bright I wanted to stay! Staff were really nice and helpful. Pleasant environment and very clean, ladies were just opening up and place was visited within the first ten minutes but still plenty of space. At a glance I could see they sold panini and ice creams, and was way traditional tea room.
