This is our new local, so having brought family to view our new home, we had lunch at our new local. Great welcome and great beers on tap. We only had fairly usual pub lunch food, but it was fresh, plenty of it and very tasty, so this won’t be our last visit. Great atmosphere at what I can only describe as a very traditional English country pub, I love it!

We used to use the Cock Inn on many occasions prior to the pandemic and were always very satisfied. We went this month and were very disappointed. I chose the liver and bacon that came on a bed of mash but no veg and when I asked for veg this was extra even though the meal was £15.95 plus £2.00 for the veg . Even I know that liver is a cheap meat. I was charged a total of £8.80 for a rose wine spritzer. £7.95 plus 0.85 for the lemonade really!! The desserts were £6.95 which we declined as they were nothing special. WHAT A SHAME THAT THE CHANGES MADE HAVE IN MY OPINION RUINED WHAT WAS A REALLY GOOD PUB. We won't be going again

This is the second find that I’ve visited here and both times I brought two friends. There’s an excellent barman; good selection of beers and what looked like an excellent menu. I really enjoyed the first time with a male and female friend but found that there were two groups of locals the second time who showed homophobic behaviour - one middle aged guy actually sneered at us - and we are discreet, middle aged professional men. However, despite this I would come back but not with fellow gay people.

Excellent food, next to a lovely log fireAfter selecting the calamari starter, we were really surprised to receive, not just the usual coated-calamari-with-a-dip, but a proper dish with loads of peppers and vegetables and a sizeable kick of chilli with other Asian flavours - lovely. When the sizzling fajitas arrived I started to think that my choice of the burger was the wrong one. However, both were delicious and beautifully cooked. One of the better pub lunches I’ve had for a whileWe took our six-month-old puppy and the pub is extremely doggy-friendly. Not just tolerating our bundle of energy, but the staff were very welcoming and with dog bowls inside and out, made the dining-with-the-dog experience genuinely pleasurable. We will definitely be back

Came into this place recommended as a family welcoming child friendly witch wasn't the case. Firstly it was accomidated to suit children's needs 2nd we was rudely spoken to about the child's safety of seating. And 3rdly left without our children eating. It was embbaressing an experience I will never want to be in again so I highly recommend you do not visit with children. It's a food place yet pets everywhere swearing and raised voices not place for you to be with your children. Owners should be ashamed. Not exactly the cheapest of places either over rated massively.

This is a nice pub / restaurant easy to find on the B2163 just South of Maidstone town. There's a nice big car park too. Inside, the pub is well decorated in classic Old World pub style. There's a nice big bar area and plenty of cosy corners for dining. The staff are friendly, helpful and very efficient - I was offered a taste of the real ales on offer before choosing my drink. Once seated, again the staff were excellent - attentive and efficient. The food was quite good, although I personally think a little overpriced so only really a venue to choose for special occasions (hence dropping one star).

Walked inside and it’s quirky, very British and cosy, with large open fire places quotes and poems along the beams and your typical oldie worldly bar. Fabulous choice and a good start right up my street. Greeted by friendly staff, even sat chatting to them, and they raved about the food themselves, (good sign) a credit to the pub. Being just after Christmas the Inn was very quiet(early evening). In answer to question,"are you serving food?" we got an immediate "yes" in a welcoming manner. The Inn is a long- established pub in the Kentish tradition and it is clear that the landlords have strived successfully to maintain it. The chef made sure that our meal was presented quickly yet paying attention to quality. The chef dropped by for a chat and we were able to explain that as a couple in their late seventies the portions were too big. Next time we were told, all we had to do was define the portion size. We shall return. Great!!

Went here with my father in law, my partner and our 2 young daughters for a meal after a long day following his mothers funeral. The "landlady" was rather curt and unhelpful and immediately made us feel a little unwelcome, we should have guessed at that point to have gone elsewhere. However, we ordered food and were bitterly disappointed when the food arrived, the steaks were tough, badly cooked and in digestable and the so called "thrice fried chips" were nothing more than frozen chips. When they came to collect the plates I had expected them to inquire whether everything was ok based on the amount of food and gristle left on the plates, however they did not ask! I had felt like complaining but honestly didn't have the energy after the day we had all had, £90 sorely spent we returned back to our apartment feeling ripped off, shan't be going here again.

Nice family dinner here. Wide choice with daily specials. Well cooked with big hearty portions especially the ham hock. Friendly staff and a lovely rustic feel. Good vegetarian options also. Beer and wine enjoyable.

Came here after visiting nearby Buttercups and was thrilled. We were greeted so warmly by the landlady and the pub was cosy and warm, just what we needed! The food was DELICIOUS and we were made to feel really welcome by the owners. Will be back!

Stopped off to have a quiet drink before going home for new year, after spending my birthday lunch there again this week as we always have done along with our families special occasions only to be refused entry as we were told they were shut seemed a little odd- sorry as the door was open and others where enjoying a drink, no shut sign in place. The comments that both the landlord and landlady made towards us where both unpleasant and upsetting, commenting on they were only open to nice people.....Our money seemed to be good enough when it suited.

Recently moved into the area and are trying various pubs and restaurants. Went here one evening, without booking, just to see if they could fit us in. Spoke to the landlady and said we would be happy to come back another evening if they couldn't. She kept telling us how busy she was and how many covers they had and also said it would be no problem to fit us in. Sat down and ordered drinks and was given the menu. When approached to take our order, it seemed far too much hassle, asked about the fishcakes as a main and was told that it was only one, even thought the menu says fishcakes and we would have to order two portions. Asked for an omelette and was told we can either have cheese and ham or cheese and onion, not allowed cheese, ham and onion. Were made to feel as though she was doing us a favor by serving us. Felt very uncomfortable, so, decided to leave. Paid the bar bill and sat for another 15 mins to finish drinks, no attempt by the landlady to understand why we decided not to eat. The waiting staff were very nice, but, directed by the landlady in quite an unpleasant manner. Overall, won't be going back, crossed this one off the list. If you want a relaxed and chilled dinner, I wouldn't go here.

This was my first visit, with friends who had been before. The staff were welcoming and the Inn had a lovely atmosphere, reflecting Kent in the decor. We were not rushed to order our food and our drinks came promptly. Everyone ordered from the Specials Board, which had a good selection. I had the whole ham hock with bread sauce, with fresh vegetables, which was delicious. The hock was huge, with crispy crackling on top, too much for me to eat but I took the remainder home with me, wrapped up in foil. Everyone's meal was excellent and the facilities spotless. I would go back again soon but for the distance to travel, all in all an excellent Inn.

We stopped off for a bite to eat at this pub which we have visited before. The bar staff were friendly and we ordered the food at one of the many tables free, all was very pleasant until the Landlady appeared. The first thing she said to us all the tables are booked tonight you need to be out by eight, which was nearly two hours off. As the food had just arrived it seemed a strange greeting, no how's the food or pleasant conversation. I didn't see or hear her extend such warmth towards anyone else The next instruction was to the lovely girls who waited on to ask us if we would like more drinks, which seemed strange as drinks had just been delivered to us. The girls were directed by her to come back to us on numerous occasions to ask if we needed more drinks, as if every last penny had to be rung out of us before we went. The final insult was the waitress being sent to our table to ask us if we had paid. It made us feel uncomfortable, and spoilt our short time in the pub. It was a shame as the food was good and the pub is lovely.

Evening meal with colleagues and firstly what a fantastic, rustic setting this pub has! Lovely open fire that on a very cold November evening was nice and cosy to sit in front of. Staff all really friendly and pleasant. Menu looked to have a really good choice of standard pub food and a specials board with additional choices. Sadly I can only comment on the Rib-eye as all three of us selected the same meal. Well cooked and to order and nice piece of meat, no complaints from all in attendance and only reason food left on plates was more than we could eat. Happily visit again in the time I am down here and would look to sample more from the menu!

We had Sunday lunch here yesterday and the quality and quantity of the food was exceptional. Really delicious meats and veg, huge Yorkshires - it all looked and tasted proper home-made, and we followed it with great fruit crumble and custard. Beautiful building with very traditional Kentish decor and excellent clean and fully functional private facilities.

We popped in to the Cock Inn for a quick pint and a bite to eat on a Friday lunchtime. I couldn't fault the place. Proper landlady and landlord, in attendance, both helpful and welcoming. Beers seemed well kept, with a good choice. We both had a sausage and onion baguette which was nicely cooked and prepared. Chip lovers - chips here are the big, golden, crisp on the outside variety. No-one rushes off to a country pub from a review that mentions a sausage sandwich, so I'll mention the blokes near us who had moules marinieres that smelled just perfect, wafting wine and garlic across the unseasonably sunny garden, and these guys confirmed the mussels were beautifully cooked. Easy to find and well situated, whether you are in Maidstone, Leeds Castle, or deeper into the Weald.
