Cock Inn in Dumfries & Galloway

Took my G/Grandson age 6 and my wife to this regular great Pub/Restaurant brilliant staff and food, if you are in this area remember to book a table to guarantee a place.

Back to the cock inn as last meal was fabulous, and it didn't disappoint. Missed out on Xmas lunch as we didn't pre-book but the food as last time, was amazing. Big hearty portions, fresh pate, home made pies, gorgeous pork loin in a cider apple sauce, home made chutney ( thanks to Sandra) definitely worth a visit and very good value for money.

My husband and I went to the Cock Inn this evening, we decided to have one of the special dishes,which was a mixed grill, it was lovely, the selection of meat was so tender and perfectly cooked, fab runny egg too, couldn't even fit in a dessert, will do next time though. Perfect setting,great food, and lovely staff.

I went with my husband last Sunday for Lunch and the food was fantastic. It was such a lovely atmosphere and the customer service was superb. Thankyou for providing us with the perfect lunch.

Isn't open Mon- Wednesday but website says it is open Wednesday so wasted journey. Should keep website updated. That said it looked okay as somewhere for a sandwich

Visited many times during our trips to Port William. Good as ever and the sea bass and new potatoes are as good as anywhere

We visited this pub three times whilst on holiday nearby. The first time we stopped to enjoy a drink outside on a hot sunny day. The tables overlooking the beach are reasonable but it’s a shame they’re on the edge of the carpark. The second visit was for dinner and we enjoyed it so much we booked for a third visit a few days later. The variety on the menu is great and all the food we had on both occasions was fantastic, starters, mains and desserts. Portion size was excellent and everything was very well prepared, served and was delicious. Service was excellent, being polite and efficient with exactly the right timing between courses, etc. The ambiance in the conservatory dining was pleasant looking out to sea, but again the carpark did spoil it a bit. Prices of food and drinks was very competitive. We’d certainly return if we holiday in the area again.

Excellent service and excellent quality of food. Highly recommend this venue as a must visit. Reasonable cost and brilliant service given.

Went back to the Cock Inn Luce Bay again after a while, and it’s the same excellent service, excellent food, we will be back again, and booking in advance is so easy, and with Covid restrictions in place didn’t stop the excellent service.

What an amazing Inn with exceptional food this wonderful find turned out to be. A bucket list visit is how we described it. Special birthday treat brought us here to dine and we certainly were not disappointed! Just fabulous! Katy really goes the extra mile to make this fab place remarkable. Her warm welcome and kindness made us feel very special...and we thank you for that Katy. Even down to offering to pick us up so we didn't have to drive! OK. So you guess we probably liked it. This is the first meal we have out since lockdown. The spacing between tables gave a lot of confidence and the staff were really helpful and fun. They even brought me and my brother in law menus out by the sea wall as we watched the local wildlife, (superb setting). OK the food. Starters were lovely, actually bloody lovely. The haggis stack was epic, I live in Scotland, eat haggis all the time and this was one of the best I've had. The mains were equally impressive, all were demolished with gusto. We all thought our own dish was the best, but as a burger officionado I must say the cock Inn burger was exceptionally impressive. Great homemade burgers, really tangy cheese and a proper thick rasher of bacon. Fish and chips chips drew sighs of appreciation at the quality of the fish and the thin crispy batter. The other two mains hit the spot as well and we couldn't stop nibbling the chips at the end. Apologies Trip Advisor we couldn't review the pudding as we were stuffed. As stated in the other reviews the portions are very generous, as were the staff. We wanted to take our designated driver a sambuca home as a thanks, which the staff provided 'on the house'. A lovely touch and finished a lovely night perfectly. So good we've booked again for last night of our holiday and can't wait.

Having driven passed on our way to the beach we decided to pop in on the way home for a late lunch. The lady (owner) was extremely welcoming and friendly. The place was clearly very busy but despite this the service never fell below par. A short wait and our food arrived. Food was fresh and delicious! Would highly recommend!

This place is a gem, the view is fantastic looking straight into Irish sea. The food was simply delicious, pie was massive and so tasty, fish fresh with golden batter. Service was so friendly, I never leave reviews but this place is the best.

My wife and i had dinner at the Cock Inn on 9/11/20 and enjoyed the experience.The food was of a high standard and the service was excellent.For starters i had the haggis stack and my wife had chicken liver pate and oatcakes.The haggis stack was two slices of haggis and two potato scones stacked together and covered in a creamy peppercorn sauce. It was delicious.The pate and oatcakes were lovely.For main courses i had fillets of sea bass and my wife had sirloin steak.The sea bass was served in a lemon butter sauce and had carrots, broccoli and chips with it. The sea bass was cooked to perfection and the skin slid off the fish in one movement. The taste was exceptional.The sirloin steak was requested to be cooked well done and was exactly as requested.The food was of a very good standard.The waitress provided a very high level of service. She was friendly attentive and very customer focussed.All told a very enjoyable experience.

The restaurant was recommended by staff at Whitecairns holiday park. Just a 15 minute drive from our accommodation. We both had chicken with bacon and haggis in a peppercorn sauce, which came with selection of vegetables and either potatoes or chips. Well presented and piping hot. The young girl who served us was very attentive, highlighting a few changes to the menu. Great value and a must to add to your list of places to eat if your in the area.

Just returned from a fantastic meal with my family and our 1 year old grand daughter. Social distancing was all correct, staff were wearing masks over there faces.
