Booked a table for six people for 8pm tonight. It was my sister's birthday and I wanted to take her out to dinner. I got an email confirming my booking last week - but when we turned up the restaurant was closed. No cancellation, no warning, nothing. Thanks guys, great service!

Came here with my boyfriend for a Friday night dinner. The service was really speedy and friendly and the menu was really diverse! Inside the restaurant was a nice ambiance as well with calming music. The food was really delicious, the peshwari naan was so delicious, and was clearly very freshly made. My favourite dish of the ones we got was definitely the tarka daal. My boyfriend is Indian and this daal tasted the same as his mum’s that she makes (high praise!!) would definitely recommend - you’ll leave feeling very full and satisfied 😊

Lovely staff, quick service and delicious food. Coming from an Indian background, I always compare restaurant Indian cooking to my mum’s dishes. I was pleasantly surprised at how flavoursome the dishes were - I had the saag aloo, korma, gobi and daal. Not too oily and perfect sizes to share with my partner. Would definitely recommend!

AVOID AVOID AVOID ARROGANT OWNERSHIP (see owners reply) & CHANGE OF CHEF!!! Changed menu. No more mango and avocado salad :(. Ordered drinks and starters. Drinks came no starters for 45mins to an hour. We saw other tables being served food and the table with one person being prioritised for their wrong order but no food for us. We ended up leaving hungry and told the staff this is not acceptable customer service. Rather than listening and valuing our feedback she argued with us and told us she knows all about customer service as she has 3 businesses. We walked out gobsmacked and appalled. The most awful experience ever. Thank you for your response. I am Ms. Shah, not Mr. I'm very sorry if your old chefs family had a brain injury. In no way were we disrespectful to your staff. It was so bad, I had to tell your staff "enough" as she was being so disrespectful us. Of course your staff would say this she told us so many lies while we were in the restaurant. She clearly doesn't want to lose her job so she spins you a lie too. It's fine, be on the side on the side of your staff, she is losing you money and customers by giving bad customer service. You will tolerate her behaviour which only hurt your business costs and lead you into bankruptcy. You are setting up your business to fail. You need to clearly visit other restaurants on your road who are getting it right. No apology from you that we had to wait 45mins to an hour and still got no food, what kind of response is this. I will not tolerate you and your staff leaving us hungry shame on you.

AVOID!!!!! Staff are rude, atmosphere is like a cemetery and you have to wait for an hour just for starters Dear Part Time Manager, We came on the evening of the 27th July 2022 (Wednesday). Awful experience, ended up walking out after an hour, starving! You guys didn’t even have water, your RUDE waitress had to go to the shop next door to get a bottle of water. EMBARRASSING!

Brilliant. Will go again with family

The food was delicious, but the service... I never liked the waiter hunter game. But here I felt it can be easier order from the kitchen. Maybe only me, who didn't find the rice on the menu, so I thought it will arrive with the curry. Mainly I felt I bother the waiter to spend his dinner. The best after this the service charge, which is not on the menu. Maybe after months I gave an other chance, but in the moment just NO. ps: I still waiting for my drink.

A group of 5 of us went for dinner last night and on entering the restaurant there was a strange atmosphere as the restaurant looked uncared for. There was one other group of 4 already seated. We were greeted by a very sweet and friendly server who gave us the only three menus that they had. Four of the items we asked for weren't available, though most of the food we did have was actually quite good and portions were generous. All the main dishes came with rice, which meant there was a lot of wasted rice. One item (3 weird little tasteless steamed buns) was inedible and another person, who arrived after us, also ordered them but couldn't eat them - she left. Staff were really very friendly and hospitable, but clearly embarrassed about the restaurant. They had run out of toilet paper and hand soap too. The mens toilet was out of use. They'd also just got rid of the coffee machine as it broken down. It was a very different experience from when we visited several years ago so we won't be hurrying back anytime soon.

This has been my favourite Indian restaurant in the area for ages. For both North Indian and Dosa. Cannot believe how far they have fallen. They literally have no idea about what the dishes on their own menu even mean. Then there was the service, clueless. Really sad writing this review, they really have no business running a restaurant.

Came to the restaurant after receiving email confirmation of our reservation through the website and it was closed. Phone lines have been unanswered all day. Very disappointing and a waste of our time.

Corrie? Exceptional! I battled for 2 days if to put up a review but feel I must. I genuinely am not a fan of slating any business online for obvious reasons but if the owner doesn't actually care then it becomes a duty. I frequented this establishment many many times but when the original owner went back to Cochin...sadly it declined. So after about w/3 years I thought ok let's be brave . I even spoke to Corrie first to tell her of my last 3 disappointing visits so you'd think this was going to be exceptional...big mistake! Only beer was from Belgium. That was the time I should have left! I ordered two rotis and a Keema, my own favourite. No rotis sorry sir, ok I'll have nan ...20 minutes later ..wait for this...no Keema!!! So I ordered a lamb curry but asked that it should be vindaloo and it came back almost like a kourma.. so not impressed! This owner has a fantastic chef but is not one bit interested in his business so until it has yet another owner with the same chef...give it a very wide berth Hopefully the owner won't reply to this truthful revue as there is no answer!

Wrong items were delivered and when I contacted the restaurant I was made to wait half hour and then was told wait some one will call back. Very poor service this time.

I went to this place a very long time ago so I was glad that they didn't remove dhosa from the menu as I recommended it to a dhosa lover. There is enough on the menu for a table of varied preferences. There were some issues including table service timings but overall a welcoming atomosphere.

Overpriced for what it is. Nice staff.

I ordered chilli chicken and they have given me paneer. I tried reaching them on PHN but no response it simple goes to voice mail

My Malabar lamb biryani was delicious, if short on lamb for the money, and the piping hot garlic and coriander naan acceptable. The manageress was lovely: welcoming and funny. But she said the Thalis were off (not good for somewhere that celebrates South Indian cuisine). And the 'bottomless beer' offer only referred to just out of date 'Komban premium black IPA' and 'that was the only beer they had.' I didn't like it. So much for the list on the menu. I didn't mention the boxes of Cobra I could see next to the drinks chiller cabinet. Also apparently they didn't have any of the cocktails. The atmosphere was a bit sad, with rather melancholy music and bad lighting. A group of ball lampshades in the middle of the ceiling was a nice try, but pointing at all the seating against the walls were spotlights. So the ones that worked were in your eyes, but only about 25% did work, and they were a stupid mix of halogen and two colours of white LED. Amateurish and not conducive to an intimate meal with someone. WARNING! TIPS DO NOT GO TO THE STAFF! THEY ARE ADDED TO THE BILL AUTOMATICALLY AND CANNOT BE REMOVED TO BE GIVEN SEPARATELY. GORDON RAMSEY WOULD HATE THAT. AND SO DO I. Pay the staff the tips, have what's on the menu in stock or remove it from the list. Fix the lighting and music. Your chefs and waiting staff deserve better support from the owners.

Delicious food and great service

Sadly despite not ordering anything spicy all our food had huge whole green chillis in. The lamb was inedible to us as it was too hot, as a Bhuna we were not expecting this. Very disappointing and ended up in the bin.

The package was missing one biriyani .We got only one biriyani even though we ordered for two

Not a good experience. Nam bread burnt, sag looked awful and Rogan was not spicy instead was full of coconut and mild. Did not enjoy. Presentation was not good either. I would not reorder or recommend.

In this resturant i had the best indian food and they also give us free umlimited beers .i have been in so many resturant and i think this is the best one. the foodis very high quality and the staff are super nice.

Food not worth even for half the price. Their dishes lack taste or any flavours that are usually the strength of any Indian restaurant. Such a disappointment. Wont order again, even in a hurry!

I ordered a chicken Malabar biriyani from here via justeat. The chicken was of great quality, well marinated and it was obviously freshly made. I spoke to Pillai on the phone who ensured the biriyani matched my flavour and spice preferences being of Keralan descent. My craving was satisfied, thank you.Jade.

A bit pricey not up to usual quality. Most of the time it's better than your average Indian meal. Onion bhaji a bit greasy.

Food quality has dropped since i last visited. Would not recommend. Expensive dishes and poor quality.

We’ve been ordering from Cochin every single week and don’t get me wrong, the food is good. But the level of service is horrendous. We’ve ordered on uber and after more than one hour of wait the order was cancelled. We called the restaurant to understand what happened and where was our order, and we overheard the manager say “if it’s a small order don’t bother just hang up” and they just hanged!! We are appalled by the service especially as we are regular customers.

Wonderful food reasonably priced great hosts again top marks to Vinod and the team hear, had tandoori roti lamb chops succulent tasty not like the hard leather at some places masala Dosa is crispy and fresh sambar spot on and the coconut chutney perfect spinach and chicken curry tasty and fresh, chicken tikka masala traditional and creamy chicken jalfrezi moreish and the egg cury great, not to mention a proper Indian chai in an authentic metal cup with bowl just how it should be, ambience is great unhurried but the team especially Vinod are attentive, met the owner who is more concerned just like the team on you as a customer enjoying your evening and meal, have been lunch time and evening and recommend anytime, they were also super busy with takeaways but you do not notice this all food served fresh hot and perfect just wish see had space for desert and if you ask for specifics for instance I asked for my jalfrezi to be extra spicy they did just that, also asked about my next visits meal deffinetly recommended if you fancy a good clean authentic Indian meal, can either go with the family or equally with a few friends it is homely and also a good place for many occasions. Do not mind paying for quality as the quantity is great and it is not heavily priced like some central London restaurants. Yet again I tried to take some photos of the dishes but as fast as it comes out from point of order it goes down just as quick, also to add note you do not get upset stomach after a meal a massive thumbs up and thank you to the team and chef.

Had an excellent meal here. Food was tasty and portion sizes were good. Staff were friendly. Worth a visit.

Spectacular is still modest, the ambience wonderful had lunch on Sunday as my mother wanted Dosa and she did not want to make it rather eat it, so we tried this place, clean friendly our server Vinod was and is A1 organised extra Sambar when wanted I would have taken pictures if the food but let's just say as fast and perfectly cooked as it came is how fast it finished portions are great great selection of vegetarian food and non veg food as me and my brother are meat eaters but also ordered the paneer starters, finally a local place who know how Mogo should be cooked and we have found a place that our mother approves as the vegetarian dishes are cooked separate to the meat which is not always the case compliments to the chef and Vinod we will be deffinetly popping in again and have found somewhere we will be making frequent stops and will visit on an evening already know what I will be trying from the menu next time.

We've ordered from Cochin many times, the food today was just as rich and tasty as ever. They were having problems with their ordering system today and one of our items was left out. A quick call and they understood the problem and immediately sent out the extra item. Good food, good service.

Has deteriorated considerably It was almost our second kitchen for last few years but things have gone downhill in last one year. May be too much traffic to handle for them. Missing items in delivery orders , not following the cooking instructions, even sending undercooked stuff once . Mistakes can happen but how you handle them as a restaurant defines the experience for customer. These people don't even accept that they have made a mistake and that sadly is the reason we won't be ordering ever from this place again

I took my mother for Sunday lunch. We were booked for 1pm and arrived slightly early. The restaurant was empty. The staff seemed a bit bemused but were friendly. The restaurant was very poorly lit. We ordered some food - my mum's dish arrived several minutes before mine and the starters much later. The tandoori chicken was the last to arrive. We couldn't finish our meal so had it packed. Whrn I got the chicken home I realised the following day it was raw.

I came here an early dinner and place was quiet. Service was prompt and my order was quickly taken. The malqbar prawn briyani was tasty. They also have a 59% discount promo on the southern Indian komban beer.

Absolutely needed a curry after a busy day at work and have previously ordered from this restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed the lamb chops and a nice selection of curries too - lamb madrasi, butter chicken and chicken korma...simply delicious!!

The food was tasty although the naan bread and onion bhaji never materialised and the biriani does not come with a vegetable curry just some yogurt. Service was very poor as the restaurant was being "run" by 2 inexperienced and patronising people who didnt seem to grasp the need to serve their customers. There were long gaps between order and delivery and we had to help the waiter remove the starter plates as he hadnt cleared them away before he brought the main course items that were available. Go to Rani - you know what you are getting there and will get a curry with your biriani rice! A party of 7 walked out as there was no bread at all,

We celebrated a birthday party here recently and have received fantastic communication and service from Joseph and his team from the start. The restaurant is clean and modern, the food is delicious and again, the service on the night was excellent. I would happily recommend this place to family and friends for all these reasons. Thank you Joseph and Cochin for making the night a success. Edit: Visited for a 70th Birthday Celebration on July 24th 2021 - 4 years after the above review, and was glad to have received the same excellent service and food at Cochin. A special thanks to Joseph, but also to Alana and Sibi, our waiting staff, who were attentive, friendly and worked very hard!

Now without sounding too pompous. Being indian and have eaten in some of London's best restaurants in town where they serve outrageous prices. This restaurant is up there on the top. For what it is in Finchley the quality of food is astonishing. Perfectly balance flavours, properly cooked south Indian food. If it was in town in a silly priced area it would be silly prices. What you get here for the money is more than it is. I didn't share photos of the food because it's about the flavour. If you haven't eaten here I suggest you do. I have eaten well made Indian food my whole life and also all around in India. If you are accustomed to a nonsense korma this isn't your place. This is real Indian food, you'll know by the Dosa's. Hats off to the chef. Eaten about 8x here need to eat more. My family and I swear by this gem of a restaurant in Finchley.

The order arrived 2h after I made the order. The food was good - but the delay ruined the experience.

As always excellent food!! And excellent service. An item was missing, my favourite, sambar and idli...however spoke with lovely women , and was delivered not 1 but 2 of the ordered dishes! Have gone to cochin since moving to finchley 4 yrs go , and cannot criticise their consistency and high standard of food.

Food was cold by the time it arrived. Taste was poor compared to past orders of the same items.

The food is really good. But items were missing from my order and it happened twice. First time I called and they sent the missing item. But the same mistake happening twice is really a shame. Hope it never happens again.

Food was absolutely delicious, especially the bindi fri and the saag aloo, and loved that there are lots of vegetarian options. Perfect amount of spice and lots of flavour. Delivery took about an hour but was estimated when I put the order through so was expected! Will definitely order again. Thank you!

Food was delicious. The best Indian in London. Staff was very friendly and made sure everything was good. Can't wait to go back when lockdown is over but for now the take aways will do 😊

We ordered rice with mushrooms- There was not a single mushroom in the rice, and the rice itself was not as good as it usually is. The prawn dish had only 4 prawns in it, but this might be the usual for the dish. (Some of the food we keep for tomorrow , so we hope it is good, as usual.)

Delivery was quick. Dosa too thick and greasy. Sauces were full of oil. No taste in any of the dishes at all. Really bad meal

Food was disappointing. Normally the standard is very high, but last night it fell short of its usual high standard. There was barely any meat in the lamb curry (around 4 small pieces) . I hope this was just a blip due to NYE pressure, in an otherwise good restaurant.

I love the food from this restaurant. My favourites are King prawn curry, Malabar paratha, King prawn biryani, Medu vada, and carrot halwa.

Forgot my drinks and then took ages to deliver them afterwards, food was pretty average also and had to re-heat in the microwave

First time ordering through Just Eat. But I've eaten in Cochin many, many times and I love it.

Unfortunately the food was delivered late and incorrect food order. What was delivered was good quality but disappointed overall.

Excellent quality and flavours - had the lamb and the Thoran. The pot luck Thoran with the seasonal veg was excellent too. I'd definitely order from here again.

Excellent service, staff are extremely accommodating, enough space between tables to feel comfortable given current circumstances, food is predominantly South indian based - their selling point are their dosas, but they do have a variety of North indian food as well.

Cochin is absolutely fantastic. Me and my wife have eaten here three times now and each time has been very, very good. The food is perfect - and the wife is particularly picky when it comes to indian food! Extremely tender meat, very well seasoned dishes, generous but not ridiculous portions, it's absolutely ideal. I particularly recommend their Chicken Jalfrezi and their Peshwari Naan. Pricing here is very good, and lower than you'd expect for the quality of the food and the service. The service is excellent, very attentive and kind. The food came out fairly quickly, and was beautifully presented. W.r.t COVID safety, they're doing a great job - running at a reduced capacity and minimizing time in contact with service staff. They're providing hand sanitizer on every table and doing contact tracing properly. I'll be coming back as soon as I can! Thanks for a lovely evening.

We often eat at this restaurant and have ordered food before. Last night, as usual, food was on time and delicious. Would highly recommend the Masala Dosa👌

The large masala dosa is delicious! Delivery is always fast :)

And I placed the order the delivery time was just half an hour when I paid for the order it became an hour and when I received my delivery it was an hour and 20 minutes because of that the food was cold the naan bread was so chewy

Really great Indian. Looks like nothing special from the outside but possibly one of the best meals I have had of the many choices in London for this type of food. Can't wait for it to reopen (covid 19) so we can go back and enjoy!

This is our third visit to this restaurant, we go quite early with our daughter and this is the only place where she has genuinely enjoyed the food. And so have we! Great dishes and really tasty food! It doesn’t get too busy which is great for us, the ambience is very calm and we never feel rushed to order or eat our food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
