Mothers day menu, assume standard Sunday lunch. Prawn cocktail starter unimpressive, small prawns laid on a cos lettuce leaf with a plop of sauce, average.... Korean chicken starter was tastless , take aways do it better and cheaper. Mains of Sunday roast, beef was good thinly sliced and nice perfect cut, yorkshire pudding excellent, veg was was junk, roast potatoes had prolonged sat under the heat lamp vibe, dull with not crispness. Getting our waitresses attentention was difficult, bar not stocked with the full wine menu. average to say the least, £450 later for y, not terrible but easily better to be had.... would not return

Lovely Sunday lunch. Board games for us and our daughter and lots of attention for our dog.. the beef roast was incredible. It's not the coach of old but still a lovely afternoon! The staff were really lovely.

We have been eating here for many years and we will continue to do so, highly recommended. There is a very friendly customer and staff team, the service and the food is excellent, also with a good wide range of menu choices.

Mmm? It's a clean and tidy pub. Music was ok, but just a few people in there to listen to it. It's not as good as it was before the refurb.

Trying to find a warm spot to sit on a cold night but warm with cold draughts presumably caused by the stairs in the middle of the room . Imitation of a pub that doesn't know whether to be a dog friendly restaurant or a pub . West Park owners have failed in resurrecting what was one of the best pubs in Harrogate . Quiet and sad .

Not been in here for a drink since the revamp & I loved it. Fab interior & great staff.

Visited last night for dinner and a drink with the family. The atmosphere was brilliant, cosy and not too loud. Plenty of space between tables and dog-friendly. The food was incredible. The vegan shepherds pie was one of the best I’ve tasted and the delicious deserts were an added bonus. We enjoyed the variety of board games to play - a nice little touch to create a lovely relaxed atmosphere

We went for an early dinner and as it was between Christmas and NYE it was quite a limited festive menu. Two of us had the steak & ale pie which was fab; the other dishes were less successful. Servers lovely, will be back for another visit to check out the regular menu.

Manager rude! Service staff lovely. The Manager switched the main lights on at 10pm & put his coat on to make it clear he wanted to go home & told his Service staff to hurry us up! It was only 10pm! We were the only people left in the bar but still early & inconsiderate & poor customer care. He clearly has a bad attitude & should not work in hospitality!

Visit only for drinks. Quiet, warm comfortable and friendly. Could have been tempted to eat but xmas menu...in early Jan? little expensive for us.

Excellent Christmas eve dinner!

We used to love this place before it closed (sometime during 2021?) We’ve not been back since it reopened and what surprise - a major renovation has transformed this place and it looks chic and upmarket but still comfortable and cosy. The food was fantastic - I had the steak pie and my husband had sea bass and mussels and both were great. Another plus is the staff - we were served by the main bar man (possibly the manager/owner?) Really friendly, professional and helpful too. The upstairs was being set up for an event/bookings so we couldn’t eat there, but I was allowed a thorough nosy and I look forward to revisiting and eating up there as it looked amazing (interior) with some cracking views out onto the Stray :)

So different from West Park Hotel which is fun and vibrant with lots of ladies. The Coach was nearly empty again, we spent £60 on beer but the bar tender opened the front door for 5 mins and it was really cold so we left and went to the Tap on Tower Street and that pub was busy and vibrant. I think the Coach should close, we will Not return. We tried the Coach again 13/10 quite busy at 8pm on a Friday night with a much improved atmosphere, rate it 4 stars this time, a significant improvement.

The sad demise of my favorite local.... they've removed the snugs and created a pub that lacks character

My daughter and son in law held their wedding here on 30 September (for 50 people) and it was brilliant from start to finish. The food was excellent and the staff and management were so attentive both on the day and at the planning stage- nothing was too much trouble! The upstairs room was beautifully laid out and it was lovely to overlook the stray. A superb venue for a small wedding!

Called in at noon on Sunday without a booking for Sunday lunch. Very lucky to be found a table as the place soon filled up. Obviously a great place for families for Sunday lunch. Enjoyed the vegan/ vegetarian option of sag aloo pie but it didn’t come with the promised Yorkshire pudding or roast potatoes. Maybe I should have asked as they may be vegetarian but not vegan and are only served if requested? Perhaps staff could ask if they are wanted when a pie is ordered? Other than that the food was lovely and service attentive without being pushy

some very impressive burgers, not dripping in fat/juice like most places and went down a treat! they are very dog friendly so will be popping back!

Nice lunch in a nice pub, was quiet and deserved to be busier. Just took from the snack menu and everything was very tasty, good service too, worth a visit!

Food was tasty I had pie my mum had fish & chips but I thought the pricing was a bit steep, I’d bought a Harrogate voucher, pay £15 to get £30 off the spend, we had two meals, some quite dry cake and black ice cream for pudding and 2 drinks and the cost was over £70 which for pub grub is steep, so even with the discount I’d paid for it was still expensive. I think the issue is that if you by the voucher it cancels out any offers on the menu so it was disappointing. we were taken to sit upstairs despite tables being free downstairs and it was empty apart from two members of staff planning a wedding with a couple, which went on throughout our meal and the woman who works there was really quite loud. it was important to them but for us it was like sitting in an office listening to a meeting and we shouldn’t have been taken upstairs when the staff knew there was a meeting going on. Not the greatest experience I’m afraid

Came here after a long, hot day at the Ashes test at Headingley. The first pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord was downed fast, and another one ordered just as quickly. We were enticed here by the reputation of the Homemade Pies, and the Lamb Pie on offer did not disappoint, with a lovely crusty pastry and big chunks of gravy soaked lamb. Excellent! The Lemon and raspberry sorbet pudding went down a treat, too. We had a great evening, seated upstairs overlooking the beautiful Harrogate Stray, and spent half the evening trying to guess the origin of the name. Any reliable information on that more than welcome! Great pub, and wonderful pies. Highly recommended.

Nice café, great staff. Food was good but the curry was not authentic compared with de curry you get in India Kerala.

Great food, good service,spent a few hours there one day.We had Sunday lunch and a couple of bottles of wine. slight issue with bill, but quickly and professionally dealt with, would definitely visit again.

This former town centre boozer closed in controversial circumstances and was acquired, refurbished and opened by the near West Park Hotel. The trouble was nobody really new what it was supposed to be, a bar? a restaurant? - the result is it's just a mess in my view. We went in on a Saturday evening where there were just four customers in, and non of them dining. The place has no atmosphere, perverse decor and lighting - extremely high prices and I really can't see it being there for much longer. Certainly I have made my last visit there.

This used to be great pub. Owner messed up during COVID and could not reopen. Sold to West park hotel. It's gone. Never be a traditional pub again, still had same beer but not as good. £15 for a pint and a large wine. Sad times as we watch traditions draining away

We called in here for Sunday lunch, and it was outstanding. Its a while since I had a roast that good, ten out of ten. If you are in Harrogate and fancy a bite, call in here it doesn't dissapoint. Can't comment on taste, but they did also have a veggie option, which is good for the strange folk that don't do meat.

The place itself looks recently refurbished, clean and cosy. Sunday roast was fantastic, big portion and very friendly service. I will recommend the place to others.

Waited ages to come back to this pub which was a great local. Previously visited before the refurbishment and it had an interesting menu and many locals and regulars. Now it is bland, samey and unsurprisingly quiet. Why would you do this to a proper pub?

Absolutely amazing food. Without doubt the best Sunday lunch (except ours at home!), beef was very pink (which is what we asked for), loads of fabulous fresh green vegetables, not sure how the carrots were cooked but they were really lovely. Yorkshire puddings were enormous...

I am beginning to think that all pub refurbishments are all the same and seem to lose the character of the pub so all are the same.This pub is no different but a nice place for a quick pint small selection of hand pulled beers and largers food available but did no try.

Went with high expectations, sadly dashed on the rocks of mediocrity. Not been in since the refurb. Pub then was all a bit 50+ gents with appearance of one having had one or two divorces under their belts, but nevertheless great atmosphere and great beer....

Was just nearby and decided to go for a roast. Turned out to be one of the best roasts we've ever had. Every individual element was beautiful from the meat to the cabbage. Service a little slow with the odd thing we asked for forgotten about but otherwise lovely staff and would definitely return to this gem.

It’s been fairly recently refurbished and it’s got a lovely clean interior now, and a very cosy place. It feels a little more geared toward dining rather than just a drink, but there’s no trouble finding a table for the latter if you wish. The staff are super friendly at the bar and service throughout my visit was brilliant. The prices are cheap too considering the high end feel inside. It’s a really nice pub and somewhere I’ll certainly be returning too.

We have been meaning to visit for a while and were really looking forward to it ! Warmly welcomed by the staff…. it’s just a shame the food standards and potion size couldn’t match the service. I was expecting a little more for the price...

This was possibly one of the worst meals of my life. Something was clearly very wrong in the kitchen. Our salads and chips took forever and the very loud fire alarm went off three different times while we waited. We noticed other people on the restaurant being served very sporadically. Finally, we had to ask about why we were still waiting for two basic salads and chips. When the entree salads came out, which turned out to be two bowls of mixed greens in oil, one with a pieces of cheese and cold pita bread, the other with a piece of chicken on top. Did not match the menu descriptions, at all. The chips we missing truffle oil. Paid nearly £40 each for something we could’ve made faster and cheaper if we’d walked to the grocery store, bought all the ingredients, and walked back home to make them ourselves. Will not be returning.

Ok this place is very different to what it used to be. It's very nice inside now but it has lost the pub atmosphere. We ate. The food was good but not great. Staff friendly and helpful. Would need to go back to try some different beers.

Poor experience. Attention was good but we had to wait 45 minutes for 2 burgers and 1 fish and chips being the only table to serve at the restaurant. My friend and I, after eating the burguer we have been with very bad stomach for the last 24 hours seems the burguer were not good

Good place to eat and drink I town, ovely views, tranquil. I live in Harrogate and definitely one of our better places. Not been renovated very long but given it a go as staff are excellent as is west park the sister place to this.

Food was delicious. Greens were varied. Lovely cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes. Chicken was beautifully done. Tasty gravy. All clearly freshly made which justified the small wait. Corer it a good chef. Staff doing their best to deliver. Kaz was amazing

What a difference a fortnight makes!! Staff couldn't do enough for us 2 weeks ago, today the service was terrible. Long wait for our order to be taken, even longer wait for the main course to be served and sweet never appeared! 2 painful hours for which we were still charged 10% service!!! Will not be returning despite the food being very good.

1st visit since the refurbishment. What was once a busy traditional pub has become a soulless generic hotel bar. No atmosphere, poorly kept beer and a massive staircase where one of the most iconic bars in Harrogate once stood. Criminal what they’ve done to this...

Sunday dinner was rank, was expecting this to be nice after waiting for nearly an hour, bill for 2 x dinners & 2 x drinks was certainly not worth £55, won't be returning!!!

What a difference some thoughtful redesign makes! This is now a lovely pub with a light classy interior, very good service. And the best curry I have had in ages! We will be regulars.

So sad to see a place I loved working in completely destroyed . The coach and horses was my family for the better part of two years . It was such a lovely place to work and also to become friends with a lot of the clientele . A lot of people relied on the coach as their home away from home . The bar used to be so charming , authentic and was really one of the last traditional pubs in Harrogate. Now it's like every other bar . A shadow of what it once was . Why change something that wasn't broken ?

Oh dear, not a pub anymore, a canteen with tables mostly booked for diners. Nowhere for drinkers to sit or stand, a bar that is so small it is for service only, not loitering to drink. Underwhelming corporate interior decor. No evidence of the new owners pledge to keep the heritage of the old Coach. The drinks, Chenin blanc and Taylor’s Landlord, were nice though.

I can only concur with the reviews so far on the refurbishment of this pub which at one time was a MUST bar to visit. A massive opportunity lost by the new owners. I will not be returning. Farewell the Coach & Horses.

A Harrogate institution totally ruined by a soulless renovation. After living abroad for 3 years and eagerly awaiting for the coach to re-open, I found myself frothing at the bit to get down and see how they’ve kept the old charm and cosy corners whilst bringing it into 2022. I appreciate the stale carpet and layers of smoke stained paint on the ceiling really wasn’t the most appealing feature of old but the new renovation has just turned the Coach into a generic bar you’ll find anywhere else in any chain venue. The sad reality of most places in recent years. Gutted. Truly gutted.

A terrible decision to replace a fantastic pub's great bar with stairs. One can only hope the company behind this one day admit the mistakes and restore the pub's bar.
