Chose to visit this Country Park specifically because it had a cafe attached that served food. Queued up, only to be told they weren't serving any food, only Sunday Lunches, but they had to be pre-booked! Left with 2 disappointed, hungry toddlers, and plans for the day in tatters. Totally unacceptable. Avoid.

This place is so under rated. Great food, with specials boards to vary the menu. Lonely for just a quick coffee and cake, or a main meal. The staff are wonderful and so helpful. A special thank you to Susan Walsh, who has been wonderful and helped us a number of times recently.

We stopped off here after a 6-mile walk on the Clydach trail. It's a real gem of a place on the lakeside. There's a bar and cafe serving a varied menu and beverages. The outside area overlooks the lake with plenty of seating, although it would benefit from a covered area in inclement weather if you have your canine companion. The staff are very friendly and the service is good. The view of the lake and its wildlife are delightful. We will definitely be visiting again.

Very well organised. You chose your Sunday diner when booking. A table will then be reserved for you. You pay before you have the meal. The diner was just the right size. A little fault that the food became cold very fast. The desserts were scrummy. We took a walk after the meal and then came back for coffee. Their capaccino was not as tasty as Costa.

Had a lovely meal here today before a photo shot around the lake. Food was lovely, staff friendly and good service. Noticed a small wedding breakfast was being set up, lovely venue and great photo opportunities too

I attended a wake here on the 31st of July. The tables were set lovely with plenty of food tea and coffee.I’ve got to have gluten free of which i did not notify ahead . I did ask one of the waitresses if it was possible to have something A young lady with a baseball cap on (sorry didn’t get your name) she made me lovely GF sandwiches and Pizza nothing was to much trouble for her it was much appreciated and thank you very much

Decided to have the rump steak, peas and chips which turned out to be a pleasent meal as usual and done to my liking. The service is also really good and always make me and my family feel welcome. Thankyou to the team, this isn't the first visit and certainly isn't the last.

Would give zero stars if I could but unfortunately it needs at least 1. Came for an early lunch with my friend and our toddler daughters, when we walked in it was rather busy (which is no one’s fault) but we had to tidy our own table in order to sit down and they didn’t even offer to give it wipe over. Once we got settled my friend went and ordered her and her daughters food (I waited because we couldn’t leave our two year olds at the table alone). We had noticed that a funeral party all entered (around 30 people) bearing in mind this cafe is only small, I had waited 10 minutes in a queue to get to the bar (where they take food orders) and was told the funeral had first priority for drinks (which I totally understand) and I had to wait untill all the funeral party had been served, while I waited a further ten minutes more and more people were adding to the queue (dressed in black so I knew they were the funeral party and would get served before me) so I politely asked if I could get my order in because the queue was just getting bigger and bigger (asked after already waiting 20 mins all together) and was told I’d have to wait as the funeral were first priority, I said that my friend and her daughter had already ordered their food and by time I’d be served they would of had and eaten their food while me and my 2 year old daughter waited, And was told “you should ordered together, so there’s nothing we can do” I was spoken to so rudely it shocked me, so my friend asked if she could have a refund and we’d go somewhere else for food and was refused a refund all we got was “I’ll see if your food is done now” so we left, with no food and £8 down. Save yourself a trip and go somewhere we’re you’re not treated like cattle. Awful staff, no order! They couldn’t arrange a piss up in a brewery.

I recently met some friends at Clydach Vale Country Park which is drenched in history. We were amazed by the waterfalls, the large lake teeming with ducks, the tranquil walks and the stunning scenery. The plan was to enjoy a relaxing picnic surrounded by nature, but my friends 2 year old accidentally dropped the sandwiches on the floor. The geese wasted no time scampering off with the food. Due to this little mishap, we ordered chips from the Lakeside Cafe. We sat outside and received a lovely welcome from the lady who took our order. Our chips arrived at the table within about 10 minutes, which means they were cooked freshly to order. The chips were well priced and tasted lovely. After eating we enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee, while the children enjoyed ice-cream sundaes. We would definitely recommend this cafe, because there was an extensive menu, the staff were friendly, the surroundings were gorgeous and the food was very good.

Confused as to what happened, arrived and about to order wen the couple who arrived after me got served first. I was asked to hang on while the server went off to clean a table and sit the couple and see to them while I was just left standing

Attended a wake here for my cousin, who used to come here regularly in recent years. Covid restrictions applied at this time. The staff had prepared the tables attractively with flowers and they took a headcount for the attendees so we didn't have to register individually. It was table service and we were each presented with a large dinner plate absolutely packed with freshly made grub.. Sandwiches, rolls, crisps. Sausages, pork pie Quiche.. Cheese cubes and onions etc. In fact it was too much for most to eat. We asked if they could provide a doggy bag for us to take away uneaten food and they immediately brought out some large polystyrene boxes and not only gave them to us but went around every other table offering them the boxes as well. Additionally one of our party mentioned she was a vegan and immediately the young lady serving went out to the kitchen and a senior member of staff came out and run through a list of vegan food they could prepare instead. In the end she didn't want anything but the offer was there. Drinks were ordered individually and served very quickly. Considering the sadness of the event, the venue treated everyone with kindness and consideration and should be congratulated.

Lovely. Recently refurbished lovely setting.There is food snacks, tea,coffee and beers lager etc.

I visit regularly when I'm visiting my 91yo mother and we enjoy a pleasant walk around the lake and always stop at the cafe. If its nice weather we sit outside and they have now installed a pair of very large patio umbrellas with lights and heaters. The staff are very attentive and friendly . They have a good selection of beers and wines for the type of venue and extremely reasonably prices with for example draft Stella at £3.50 a pint. And just £4.50 for two lattes. The food is prepared to order and although basic ie burgers, sandwiches etc the portions are very generous and all the food tasty. The full cooked breakfasts look enormous. We have even been there for Sunday lunch and it was again hot, fresh and good value. Today we had tuna mayo sandwich and a cheese and onion panini. Both served with coleslaw and crops on the side. Plus a shared portion of chips. I had a pint of Madiri Spanish lager and my mother a miniture bottle of Rose wine. The bill was an amazing £13.50! I am very surprised at the negative comments others have made about the staff as its the complete opposite to our experience.

Water Place! Lovely little cafe that's shore to keep you well watered and fed before you head out to discover the lovely lakeside! Boatiful views across the lakes and good honest grub, that you can take away too! I got a sinking feeling when I saw the menu though as it had been photocopied and the next turned tiny and small. So water, water everywhere and nice things to drink if you can see the menu

We were very disappointed with the staff. We were told the bar closes at 5.30pm. We had one drink but would have liked another. At 4.20pm the girl served a gang of men who were obviously regulars..they hadn't even asked for one. She said that she knew they would want more before she closes. We politely asked for a drink where she was quite abrupt saying she'd stopped serving? Surely, it would have been good manners to warn people if they were closing early in order to get another drink. It's a shame..they must be losing custom. They need to get more staff in also some who are people friendly. It used to be a lovely friendly place.

We often visit here so the children can feed the ducks and the dogs can have a walk. The potential that the restaurant has is endless. We have visited on several occasions as the kids love the milkshakes.The only thing that lets this place down is the staff! They clearly have other places they wish to be. On the most recent visit we were aware that it closes at 5pm. I went to get another drink at 4.35 and the girl abruptly said Ive been told to stop tap.. I assured her that we would have drunk up and left by 5pm. She said yeah but we need to leave at 5, clearly stating that they were not in anyway intending to stay past 5pm. We walked the dogs and children around and at 4.55 the shutters were down. Which makes me question why they say they close at 5pm, when this isn't the case. The staff want to leave at 5pm. If it werent for the location and peaceful surroundings this place would not survive.

This establishment has so much potential, the only thing that holds it back is the staff. We often visit with the children and dogs as it is in a wonderful place with lovely surroundings. What I cant understand is how the staff decide what tome to close? We were aware that closing was 5pm.. so at 5.35 we decided to have another drink. The girl abruptly said.. ive been told to stop tap! I said we woll have drunk and drink and left by 5pm.. she said no its stop tap.. we need to leave by 5pm!! we then went for a walk and noticed by 4.55 they had closed the shutters. This place is losing so much money purely because the staff would rather be elsewhere, even ordering a drink seems too much to ask of them. Of it wasnt for where it is it would not be so popular!

I regularly meet up with friends in the Lakeside for a cup of tea and would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a nice cuppa, good food and good conversation. The place has a wonderful community feel to it, as is demonstrated by the number of people who visit it on a daily basis. It has a feel good vibe to it and long may it continue.

A lovely place for a walk and grab a coffee. They are a bit slow when a little busy, and they stop serving food when they can't handle the numbers visiting. Especially a Sunday when they do a dinner. Plus things on the menu boards are never available such as milkshake with ice cream etc. A shame because they could do so much there.

Never use to have any issues and use to be a lovely place to go for food and drinks with the girls. Lately the attitude of staff has been off putting. It's as if ordering a drink is a burden to them despite it being their jobs? Food on the other hand when can you actually get food? " Not serving today" imagine if larger chains started doing that. Waste of a journey. Would recommend Barry sidings over here any day.

Having been told that the cafe overlooking the lake was 'fabulous' and the scenery was stunning I decided after looking at the website this would be an ideal place to take my mum for a birthday lunch treat. Sadly it left me feeling really gutted for my mum, a total let down and not somewhere I would ever go again. On a positive note the staff seemed nice enough hence the 2 star rating. My observatiobns Tables stacked with dirty crockery for ages. Place is run down and has seen better days. Website advertises all day breakfasts but despite arriving at 12.00 they had stopped serving breakfast food and my mum had been really looking forward to a breakfast bap. I wasn't offered a glass for my can of diet coke. The condiment section was dirty with spilled sugar and ketchup. Had a toasted teacake and egg mayonnaise baguette which was reasonable for the price but sadly the teacake led to a bad case of food poisoning (diarrhoea). So all in all not the best experience. My advice, avoid the cafe but if you want somewhere for a leisurely walk I suppose it would be alright.

Recently moved to area and wanted to take friends who came to visit somewhere local to eat before they set off back to londan. Definitely made the right choice, food was delicious meeting was beautiful staff were friendly and efficient. ( Only deducted a star because my autistic son was worried about the dust on the ceiling fans, but can see they would be a nightmare to get to clean)
