I am truly astonished to read the previous reviews here, Wonderful meal etc., I can only say, “I wish we had a similar experience” at the beginning of August! Our family group of six travelled from three counties across the North to celebrate three separate celebrations. We were in great form, having stopped for a cocktail down the road to assemble and await our meal booked for Sunday 1.30 pm- our adult children with their partners, for their birthdays and our wedding anniversary. We were a bit surprised that the dining room was relatively quiet with only two other parties of four already there but we put it down to the early hour. The views were great, the waitress was friendly and welcoming and all seemed well. Before we even got possession of the menus we were informed that some things were unavailable due to a hugely busy Saturday night. I couldn’t understand why the night before should have any impact on the next day’s provision for a ‘new’ day at a restaurant but it’s also very hard to question something when the focus of the moment is togetherness and enjoyment. We proceeded to work around the missing preferences. The opinions varied from: Scallops were good but minimal, the Duck liver was satisfactory, the Fish of the day’ turned out to be a rectangle of mediocre haddock, the lamb was good but noted for being a very small portion, while the Chicken and Beef lunches were described as OK. When it came to the desserts the all time favourite Sticky Toffee pudding was off. At this time of the day? With only two other tables occupied? No one ordered an alternative and we finished only with teas and coffee. At this point my cheer totally dissipated because when I had booked online on the 25th July, in the special requirements box I requested, if it was possible, to arrange a mini celebratory gesture to mark the three separate celebrations. I included the names of the individuals and the type of occasion and suggested something as simple as a candle in a cup cake. I also said I was happy to pay for them but would understand if they were too busy on the day. Nothing transpired and when I went approached the main desk to ask the manager/male waiter why nothing had materialised, he confirmed, as he checked his computer ‘he had not be told about this’ and could ‘maybe throw something together now’! As we were leaving? I rejected the insulting notion of cobbling something together at the last minute and was more annoyed that the only reaction to their ineptitude was a last minute & very half hearted insincere apology. They could hardly look us in the eye as we left. What a shocking performance! Needless to say, there are much better venues in Holywood. And we will be going there instead.

Fantastic food! The oysters were amazing. Ox tongue starter divine. But it's all about the steak. Some great choices. We had a Tomahawk sharing steak and our friends had the the two Wagyucuts. So different in flavours and textures, def recommend sharing different cuts. Cooked to perfection! Cocktails were good to and the wine selection was great. Service great too. Oh and the view was pretty amazing!! All round great restaurant!

Have visited here few times now. Can only say it is one of the best cafes in Bangor. Can highly highly recommend. I had BLT on lovely fresh white bread with beautiful garnish. My mother in-law had (she said) best french toast and bacon. Can't wait to go back.

What can I say about this place? It’s hard to find a reason to visit the big city of Bangor and in-fact I used to find reasons not to visit but this Bar has changed all that and I now welcome the pilgrimage up to Costa Del Bangor like many Belfast inhabitants enjoyed before me in the heady summer days of the 60’s. Ginge’s is the perfect infusion of Aladdins Cave and Willy Wonkas chocolate factory and will have you going down a rabbit hole Alice herself would have marvelled at. A place where amazement and wonder are around every corner due to the atmosphere casually swinging from one of being on a special ops mission behind enemy lines with a crack team of Bangor veterans trying to compete a poker hand to one of casually chilling in front of an open fire with live music resembling days gone by whilst having craic and prime ministers questions with clientele you simply wouldn’t come across in your normal everyday life. From Olympians, musicians, tech savvy professionals and Dothraki bloodriders, Ginges has it all under one roof. Add to this an owner bringing in guest chefs to cook up bbq fare fitting of its surroundings and you found a niche in the hospitality sector. Ham hocks, lamb legs, sides of beef and multiple corn snacks are laid down in a feast fitting of a banqueting table of the tudors themselves. A unique experience indeed and one not to be passed up

While staying at the Culloden we sat up in the drawing rooms several nights for drinks and fireside chats. Beautiful rooms, all the staff were helpful and quick. I guess I didn't take as many pictures as I thought but we really liked the different gins from Jawbox.
