I'm surprised by this place’s reviews. The atmosphere is ok, the service is really nice. However, the food is really lacking quality. Although the staff was excellent, the food and flavors were not worth the price.

The Circus really is the most wonderful place to dine in. By my own admission I am a fussy diner and I'm subsequently often disappointed, The Circus will not disappoint, the menu is fresh and innovative with, I feel something to suit everyone. Every member of our party were delighted with our food. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and relaxed. Miss it and miss out. More than worth a visit, can't wait to return.

Highly recommend this place, we like decent food that doesn’t cost the earth. Service was fab, they were very attentive. Food was amazing! We had mussels and pigeon to start, both were delicious! What a gem of a restaurant - firstly the waiting staff are second to none and very friendly. Very helpful with the menu and chatty. I was thinking of going with the trout for starters but advised to get on the mussels and wasn’t disappointed. Outstanding. Main was the rib eye steak and this was absolutely banging. Went there as part of my wife’s 50th birthday celebrations in Bath. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the evening. Food, drink outstanding. Service was brilliant - even to the extent of providing us with name of the manufacturer of their drinks glasses, which were a really unusual design. Will definitely be rebooking when we next come to Bath- unfortunately it won’t be in the near future because of the distance we live away, but the circus restaurant is definitely one of our reasons to return! Thanks very much indeed.

Ribeye steak with miso butter was fantastic, flat iron steak for my partner likewise. Our waitress, Emma, was brilliant, very helpful with wine tips and knowledgeable about the menu, plus a very friendly nature.

Spent three very happy days in Bath recently, eating at some of the city's best restaurants. This, by far, had the best, most welcoming service - in particular, from Emma. It was almost like dining in a friend's house. For that alone, we'd rush back. The food was top notch too.

The Circus Restaurant gets everything just right, delicious food, friendly efficient staff, calm decor and atmosphere. Recommended by some friends who visit Bath regularly we ended up eating both lunch and dinner there. Thank you Emma and Roma for looking after us so well!

We regularly visit this restaurant and consider it to offer the most consistently excellent combination of food, service and value in Bath. A visit in February is particularly enticing as Kedgeree is usually on the menu and a particular favourite with us. On this occasion we started with large portions of excellent mussels prepared in an interesting way. It is a feature at the Circus that fairly mundane sounding dishes invariably turn out to be innovative and delicious. Service by Jess could not be faulted: friendly, enthusiastic and correct, she manages to convey the impression that it is a pleasure to serve her clients.

Had an amazing evening in The Circus Restaurant. Very nice vibe, relaxed, comfortable atmosphere which also didn't compensate on intimacy. Very impressed by the food, with some interesting, unexpected elements thrown in the mix, all delicious. Perfect service as well, friendly, attentive but not intrusive. I couldn't recommend The Circus enough for anyone looking for a relaxed vibe and some tasty food, I had the kedgeree which is a classic comfort dish but here they gave a wonderful Thai twist which really worked. Smashing wine list too!

Food and service have been spot on during the all dinner. Staff extremely friendly and attentive. Extraordinary dishes have been served to us fron starter continuing with mains and finishing with dessert. Absolutely divine dishes! Just to mention some the pigeon, orange duck and the rib eye stake. Strongly recommended!

The Circus is an outstanding Bath restaurant, the staff are courteous and friendly without being obtrusive. We recently enjoyed a Valentine's Day set dinner menu which included a glass of fizz. We then ordered a bottle with our meal as it was so good. A lovely selection of starters including mussels. My partner ordered the duck, which was beautifully cooked. The portions are generous and everything is of a high standard without being fussy or pretentious. I ordered melanzane parmigiana which was a somewhat less interesting interpretation of the Italian classic, which should be a sizzling melting delight of cheesy, tomato and aubergine rather than a slice of layered aubergine. The desserts are also interesting. The menus are seasonal and we look forward to the spring and summer choices.

This is an absolute gem of a restaurant. Delicious food and great service. We had been here before on a previous trip to Bath and was lovely to see that the place remains as buzzing mid week as it is at the weekend. Make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment!

Very disappointed. Food not as good as other restaurants we visited, such as the nearby 'Crescent'. Shown to a small table (no choice) in basement room - claustrophobic and too close to others. Over- rated.

Happened on this gem looking for a light lunch. We opted for two each of the delicious starters which perfectly sated our mild appetites. The Local Cider, Leek & Potato Soup, served with a caerphilly cheese fritter and with chunks of seeded sourdough, for oil and balsamic dunking, was scrummy. Genuinely surprised at the high reviews for this place. Service is awesome and atmosphere is okay. But seriously the food is not up to scratch. Pigeon was dry. The roti starter was poor . Fish of the day main was nice but the sauce was confusing and the duck with orange was pretty bad. Wine and cocktail list was good and staff were great but the quality of food and flavours really didn’t work for us.

I visited during my trip to bath. This restaurant has such a nice vibe. It’s rather small but perfect for a romantic meal. The most important aspect is the good food you get for the reasonable price. I can’t remember the name of the meal but the server helped me pick it and it was the best chicken steak Ive had. Even their dessert are top tier. The staff are really nice. Absolutely amazing, one of the best restaurant’s I’ve ever been to. The service was outstanding (I think our Waitress’s name was Laura, she went above and beyond and even found a phone charger for me to use).
