Ciao Italian Bistro in Kingston upon Hull, City of

Great good. So tasty. Loved the vegan pizza! And so accomodating to make it half white base and half tomato base, delicious! Molly was brilliant. So friendly and lovely to talk too. Wish we stayed closer so we could go again, we're from Scotland, but my Aunty who is local will be back!

We had a delicious lunch here yesterday. We shared a starter of veggie filled Tacos, I had a lovely Roast Vegetable Pizza. The base was really good, thin and crispy, with plenty of roast veggies. My partner had the Piccolo Burger, which he said was very good, I pinched some of his spicy fries which were yummy. We didn't have room for the lovely looking Gelato. It is a really good local Italian, and I often pop in for a coffee, and to buy the homemade bread, which is delicious. The staff are lovely and friendly,, there was a slight hiccup with my wine, and that was promptly fixed by the Chef/Patron. I hope my review encourages others to try Piccolos, as I feel we are lucky to have this super Bistro in the area.

The food was delicious we had 3 course each and I must say we enjoyed all the freshly cooked food the staff were friendly and were working very hard and the menu is the same as the website so you won’t be disappointed plenty of choices

We went again to Piccolos for an evening meal. This place never disappoints. We had starters and main course, which were delicious. But, were too full of the lovely food to fit in a sweet. For starters we had the crab and bruchetta respectively. My wife headed for her old favourite for main, the lamb. I had the veggie pasta parcels. Both were fantastic.

Went with a huge group of friends for a large booking. The venue is lovely, on two floors and very welcoming. The staff were so lovely and the food ? Absolutely delicious. I had rice balls which had mozzarella inside and came with a lovely bolognaise sauce. For my main I had the meat calzone. Oh my word. So good. So so good. The base is so light and the filling was plentiful and very tasty. Washed down with a nice pint of Perroni. Perfect night out.

Amazing food in an atmospheric intimate surrounding. Perfect for date night, some larger tables for groups.

Honestly a hidden gem. Huge portions, friendly and welcoming staff and amazing pricing. We both audibly reacted to the size of the portions and the hugeness of the meat calzone (that wasn’t any air!! It was all meat!!) can tell the chef cooks with passion for the food, and for his customers as he’s who took our order! First valentines with my partner well spent. It’s rare to get a meal with sides and a drink, for under £40 and have left overs to take home. Would recommend to anyone, especially if you’re on a budget, take advantage of their lunch menu, will be returning during the week for the 2 for £15 menu.

I had a meal here with my wife and unfortunately it was awful, plastic from a container in my meal, guess it was from a microwave food, shame its a nice setting and the staff are friendly.

We had an appointment in Hull so looked for somewhere nice for lunch. After a bit of research we decided to try Piccolo Italian Bistro on Chanterlands Avenue as it looked good & was not far from where our appointment was. Wow, what a great decision! We were greeted warmly by the front of house young lady & shown to a table. Straight away I thought this would be good as it was only 12:15 on Thursday lunchtime & almost all the downstairs tables were already taken. Menus given & drinks order taken quickly which we like as you can enjoy a drink whilst perusing the menu. My partner chose the Gamberoni (King prawns) followed by Branzino (Sea bass fillets) whilst I decided on Polpetta (meatballs) then Filetto al Pepe (Pan-fried beef fillet strips in creamy peppercorn sauce) A bottle of wine was chosen to accompany this & we sat chatting in anticipation of some nice food. Well we weren't disappointed. Lovely starters & then delicious mains were served up with just the right amount of time in between. There was a vibrant atmosphere in the bistro, some nice background music & plenty of chatter from what appeared to be many regulars having lunch which is always a good sign! One dessert to share & a couple of very good cocktails each finished off a delightful lunch. We had a nice chat with the Italian waitress/ front of house/ bakery shop assistant about looking after customers as we have close links to the hospitality trade. She worked very hard doing all this & made it look easy juggling all this & keeping everybody happy! A credit to the business. We also learned about some nice places to visit in Italy. Chatting to the owner/chef & found out he used to work at a nice Italian restaurant in our home town of Beverley many years ago. All in all, a delightful lunchtime experience, nice atmosphere, great service & wonderful food. We will definitely be repeating this the next time we visit Hull (in about 4 weeks!) & we will also take friends there for dinner one evening very soon. There are many restaurants, cafes, bistros dotted about these days so it is nice when you drop onto a good one & Piccolo is definitely a good one!

A small Italian restaurant with amazing food, we have been on 4 occasions now all visits the food has been top notch, currently working my way through the starters (fish cakes current favourite) then as much as I’d love to try everything on the main menu eventually, when a chef cooks a fillet steak I could cut with a spoon so perfectly I just keep going back to what I know best. Garlic mushrooms brilliant 👌🏼(just make sure your partner eats them to)🤣 Absolutely incredible.

Wow. Came here back in 2019 and was excellent then again tonight. What a gem of a place. Great Staff and service and holy moly the food is just incredible - we’ve been to quite some places including Ciprianis in Anguilla and honestly this place could show them a thing or two! Thank you to all at Piccolo for another outstandingly excellent family meal x

Fantastic bistro,food is amazing very Italian ,having travelled to Italy many times this place is very authentic the closes I've found back home The owner and staff are fantastic. I have visited many times and have never been let down

Unfortunately, i have to change my review from the previous 5 atars as the quality seems to have detiorated, i had a calzone that was stone cold in the middle and for some reason they decided to add pickled mushrooms into the pasta the Mrs had making it so acidic it was as if drinking vinegar, hoping they get back on track as used to be the best place localy.

The best Italian in Hull. The food is so fresh, lovely menu and the Bakery side is second to none. The fresh home-baked bread is amazing no one can beat it. Home made pastries look and taste amazing. So much to choose from, a lovely place just to pop for a coffee and sandwich too.

Great food, great staff. Me and my daughter loved it and looking forward to going back as soon as we can.

Great restaurant. The only let down is they had to squeeze in an extra table for us, meaning we had very little room for our chairs

I sat at the table by the doors. It was very cold in there. Food was not tasty and duck which I ordered was chewy. My husband didn't enjoy his calzone. Staff busy chatting rather than customers. It was ny first and last time in this place. The only thing I enjoyed was drink.

This place is lovely, the staff are very friendly and show some real passion in what they do. The sandwiches were out of this world.

First visit to this fantastic Italian Bistro, and was definitely NOT disappointed, Will certainly be back. There was so many amazing options to couse from the menu I felt like a small child in the sweet shop. The staff were really friendly and polite, and the chef was brilliant, the food was excellent, first class, possibly the best I've had? We cannot recommend highly enough. A must try.

The new cafe and deli attached to the restaurant is lovely, would definitely recomend. They are busy this morning, but still great service!

Really poor visit, they really need to up their game. Complained on the night but didn’t seem to care. Please do better. Don’t even polish the wine glasses

Nice food I personally think the pizzas are better at osteria and uno,s . Service was a little slow and the table next to window with constant door slamming behind you I don't thinks great .

A great place with lovely people and wonderful food. There is a great choice of food - steaks, chicken, pizzas, pastas and a good choice of wines.

We booked and pre ordered our food as we were a table of 8 only to be told they had run out of one ov the starters ordered on arrival.starters came out in dribs and drabs after a hour of us being there, they forgot the kids garlic breads they came when we had all finished, to be fair they offered them for free for the inconvenience . Starters were nice when we finally got them. We then waited another hour and asked how long until our mains it was 9.45 by this point. We had Bern in there from 7.30, they couldn't tell us how long we were going to have to wait as they had a large party upstairs which seemed to be getting all the service and another large party downstairs who were due there mains before us. In the end We decided to cancel our mains n ask for the bill. The bill came they had not knocked our deposit of £90 off and the starter they had run out of which we had not had was on the bill! as well as the garlic breads they said we could have for free. The bill was revised, we paid and left. All in all we will not be returning. There seemed to be no front of house/manager, the staff were not apologetic we felt at times to be ignored.servive was poor. we will definitely stick to our usual italian in willerby from now on. Such a shame as we are more local to picollo.

The service was rubbish the food was good we had to wait 2 hours to get our mains and in the end we walked out absolutely disgraceful never coming here again fuming

I have to say that this cook knows how to do a good steak. Sometimes I am wary of ordering steak, as it's usually the most expensive item on the menu and it can be hugely disappointing. However, I decided to risk ordering the fillet steak. I didn't order a starter because I didn't want to spoil my main course. I was so glad that I didn't, because the steak arrived and was very thick. In spite of this, it melted in my mouth. It was delicious. So few restaurants are able to get this right, but Piccolo did. I was very impressed. Hoping to go again with the hubby, as he would LOVE the steak and the way they do it here. Just hoping the chef doesn't change!

Food was great and portions are very generous!!! Took a while to get the bill at the end but overall good service and good food! Would definitely recommend the Arancini!

Piccolo, every time we have been to eat with you it has been fantastic. Normally I would give you 10 out 10. tonight I'm afraid I must give you 5 out of 10. I realize you were busy but to wait 1 hour for a pizza and a crab pasta was not very good , also the the pasta was very stodgy, we will come back again as I believe/ hope this was just an off night for you

We went here for dinner last night as part of my birthday holiday,we had an absolutely fantastic time.It was so lovely to find another real and true Italian in Hull.As both Frankie and Benny’s in Hull shut due to covid 19.It was absolutely divine,the decor was nice,very down to earth and cozy,it felt like you were in someone’s living room and music playing in the background was lovely too.Also it was very very cool(both decor and temperature)inside as well.It was clean including the toilets.The service was fantastic,Evie our waitress was fantastic and food came in reasonable timing.The food was absolutely excuisite,my anti pasty board was lovely,I loved eating all the meats they were all very tasty,they also came with a salad of lettuice,spinnach and onion.They also came with olives as well,all of it was delicious.Also my beef for mains was divine as well,I loved it that they had so many sauces to dip into,they were all really nice.The portion sizes were fantastic as well,it reminded me of being back in hard rock café yesterday(at the time I ate the meal) with all the amazing portion sizes.This is such a lovely real,authentic and true Italian,out of all the Italians in Hull I would reccomend you go to this one.I hope to return if I’m in the area ever again

This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and I've just eaten one of the best lasagnes I've had for a long time at a reasonable price. There was good service from the staff too.

We are so lucky to have Piccolo right on our door step it's always a great night when we dine in and their takeaway pizza's are our favourite to have at home.

Lovely atmosphere, great service, and good food! We took some clients to Piccolos, they catered to a very large party and it was one of the few restaurants I could find that had multiple Vegan options.

I was disappointed 🙁 with the service, it was my birthday and my husband want to do something special for me, but a refused to sing Happy Birthday to me because I'm black, I was very disappointed 🙁

Absolutely stunning food. Fabulous flavours and decent portion sizes as it was great value for money. Catered for my gluten free requirements without any loss to flavour and quality. I just wanted to keep eating but was way too full. He service was spot on.

A fantastic local restaurant. Brilliant menu with lots of delicious options. I've been here many times. On my most recent visit, I had the surf and turf. At first glance, it looks lost on the plate, but it certainly fills you up. Superb. The service is first class. Always polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend

Visited recently, food was excellent and well presented,staff are very helpful and friendly.the restaurant was just about full and we had no problem with the service,asked if everything was ok on two occasions. This restaurant has character and nice atmosphere which you don’t get in the big fancy restaurants, with extortionate prices. This was our third visit and it did not disappoint,will be visiting again soon.

Wonderful little place - went with family for Mother's Day, and even though it was exceptionally busy, it made no impact on service - staff were fantastic, the wait for food was short, and the food itself was delicious. I actually left my hat behind, and the staff were kind enough to keep it safe for me until I could go back to collect the following day.

The world's largest menu which always worries me as I'd rather a restaurant specialise in a few things. Meal generally was very good - a huge portion for the price, really good sauce - they did forget we existed towards the end, and we had to go find them to get service, but otherwise all good. Oh and if people could stop slamming the door that would be nice! Generally a very good restaurant and I wish then many more years of success.

We have dined at piccolo on chanterlands avenue numerous times in the past and the service and food has always been excellent. On Christmas Eve we rang to see if they could fit us in on Christmas day due to our plans having to change unexpectedly. We dined with them today and as always, everything was fantastic. Thankyou for having us.

Our delivery was late without any notification. Called the restaurant. Been told the driver is on his way back to the restaurant and as soon as he is there he will bring our order. Information on the app said the driver was already out and the food should already be delivered. In 3 minutes the driver showed up on the doors. Pushed the food in our hands and left straight away. As soon as we looked at the package we noticed it is ripped and wet. Pizza box looked like something heavy was on it, pushed onto the pizza and disfigured. Sauce from the fish leaked out onto the pizza box, went through the pizza box onto the pizza.

Been there tonight, absolutely packed out the food was outstanding, really don't know how they managed, the whole staff were brilliant

Popped in here for a cocktail after mooching round at Next. Had a few in the end with some bar snacks. Everything was delicious and the service and friendliness were second to none.

Me and my partner visited this restaurant for the first time . It's a nice little restaurant with friendly staff . We had The Pork fillet ravioli plus the mushroom risotto which where both really nice . We also had the freshly made strawberry cheesecake which was lovely . A return visit soon is on the cards . I would defo recommend .

We had a superb meal here with excellent service. Starters were bruschettas and crispy tacquitos , both really flavoursome with a variety of toppings and fillings combined with a lovely lemon sauce. For mains my wife had the tuna steak special which was superbly cooked and really succulent whilst a had the ravioli de Mailie which was excellent. Dessert was my favourite, affogato, really nice.Thanks again for a great meal.

Visited with friends and had the Surf & Turf and fish cakes my husband had lamb and all was Mouth watering . Sevice and waitress was excerlent. Very attentive snd hellpful. A really lovely visit ended with a perfect TIa Maria coffee that was perfect! Thank you!

The food was lovely, could not fault any of it.The service was the highlight, both waitresses were very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was lovely. The music ranged from Paolo Nutini, Ben Howard and some Italian music which was nice and not too loud.Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Piccolo and will be recommending to friends!
