Our favourite place for a proper breakfast! It’s a hidden gem! Love the food and the staff. Also, the chicken rolls are delicious. Huge portions!!

Been to Chunkys loads of times for an easy in breakfast or take out. Firstly, the staff are always spot on friendly and attentive, led from the front by the boss. The food is just what the doctor ordered when ordered. Whether it is a monster breakfast, and usually is, or the gut busting French sticks, the food is incredible and great value for money.

Stopped in here on a whim, ordered a breakfast stick, haven't needed to eat for the rest of the day. Tasty and well priced!

Best cafe Iv ever been too. The breakfasts are great quality and huge! I’m not even from the area and I drive down to go here specifically.

Visited this Cafe when on a site visit with work. It is absolutely fantastic! Very clean with a great menu and friendly staff who made me feel very welcome. I had the veggie breakfast and it was wonderful and superb value for money. It was super-filling and I could not finish it all. Its worth taking a detour off the A1 and calling in! I will certainly endeavour to make regular visits going forward! HIGHY recommended *****

Every time I visit Sandy from the USA I try to stop by Chunkys Cafe. They serve one hell of a great breakfast as well fab sandwiches and more. all at great prices. Its a great place to go for good food.

Very friendly polite staff, one veggie and one chunky breakfast, good quality food at a very reasonable price. You won’t leave feeling hungry after visiting here!

A little way from our hope in essex, we were a bit early for the Shuttleworth visit so looked for a nearby eatery to grab some breakfast Drove to Chunky’s had egg bacon and bubble, wifey had regular breakfast and asked for fresh tomatoes instead of tinned, both meals were lovely, deviating from the menu was easy and accommodated with a smile Great place I would highly recommend Awesome value and good food

I only live a few miles from Chunky's and I should go more often. Today I took a friend there for her first visit. From the moment you walk in the door, receiving a warm welcome, and immediately being offered tea or coffee. Eat in or take out available, the place is always busy. The range of cooked breakfasts are to die for, the Regular, the Chunky's Breakfast, or the Ultimate. The plates are generously laden with first class food, including toast on the side, and at such unbelievably reasonable prices. No wonder it's always busy. Definitely the place to start your day :-)

Brilliant cafe, big portions, very friendly service.. Its our go to cafe for eat in and takeaways, really can't recommend highly enough. I've seen two negative reviews from people and they are either on a different planet or from a competitor.. There is nothing not to like about Chunkys

Great place for large portions with cheap (compared to London) prices. Been coming here all week for my coffee and doorstop toasts at breakfast. Ate here before and never been disappointed. Staff friendly especially the owner. Place always packed (due to covid-19 only 4 tables and a bar with stools) and takeaway. This is my place to come every time it's open.

We work in London travelling down from Durham , we call in here every time, we ring 10 mins before we get there , it’s fantastic service and the food is 5 star , piping hot and tasty , easy free parking for our large van 100 metres away , love it

We were travelling down the country to go to Luton Airport and needed to find somewhere to eat at lunchtime. Had a look at TripAdvisor to get some idea of where to go, and having read the reviews, decided to give Chunky's a try. So pleased we did: the food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and we were served very quickly. The size of the plate took us by surprise - it was huge, and our food covered every inch. We were well and truly full by the time we had cleared our plates. Fantastic. We will certainly eat here again when we are in the area.

Popped back into Sandy and was browsing other cafes in the area, none come up as good as chunky's. Had macaroni cheese, garlic bread and a side of chips.. Just superb! Friendly owner, efficient staff Coming back tomorrow! 😁

Treated my brother to breakfast this morning after passing his driving theory test. Been here before and highly recommend it. Me and my brother had the chunky’s big breakfast which was £5.95 and the amount you get is amazing. My brother hates mushrooms and tomatoes which they took off and gave him extra sausage and bacon instead which I thought was a nice touch. The food is great and the doorstop toast is to die for. Would definitely come here again and my only tiny issue with the place is that I think it could benefit with more space inside as both times I’ve been it has been busy and I feel you’re a bit squashed against people but there is seating space outside which helps.

Ate here for 2 weeks and enjoyed every single day. They were extremely accommodating. The quality is amazing considering the prices. It has a brilliant selection. Highly recommend it.

Took my couple of overseas friends out to breakfast and was recommended Chunkys. Unsure to being with but we were greeted with a warm welcome and friendly, helpful staff all round. The food was not only superb value for money, but massive portions and piping hot and done beautifully! My friend ordered a doorstep sandwich and it was theeeeeee biggest I had ever seen. I sent a photo of our food to my husband who then itched to go to Chunkys for breakfast for 2 weeks. Finally he got there, had to wait for a table but we got there! He can't wait to go again but for now I have peace at last!

Great Cafe serving breakfasts that are massive and fantastic value. The seating area is quite small and it was very busy when we went. Good choice on the breakfast menu and the food tasted really good. Staff friendly and overall great value for money. Well worth a visit for cheap honest food.

100% recommend Chunky’s. Brought hubby from America, it was one of his favourites by far. Excellent food and service, friendly staff, the serving size was big for me but perfect for hubby. Enjoyed it completely and will defiantly return.

Like to visit for breakfast mainly as it's so good and accommodates everyone in the group when we're in the area together. Cooked to perfection with a nice variety of ingredients making it the best way to start our day!

My pal and me had the “Chunky’s Breakfast” this morning and found it great value and very generous. I couldn’t finish all of mine. Willing to swap unwanted items. Food was cooked well and the service is very friendly. This is a PROPER cafe serving decent food with good portions at reasonable prices, just as it should be. Highly recommend and my first choice if in Sandy.

Lovely, good ol' fashioned greasy spoon as they should be! Had a decent Cajun burger and hubby a lovely onion and mushrooms omelette with doorstop toast. Plenty on the plate and left full. Very friendly staff! We'll be back!

We purely ate here because of Trip Advisor. Somewhere to eat breakfast whilst on way to the south coast for a long weekend. Restaurant, it is not. It’s a damn good, but small, cafe that serves honest and tasty food in generous portions and don’t charge the earth. Genuinely, other places would charge at least double for what you get at Chunkys and it wouldn’t taste so good. What a nice little find for our next trip down the A1. Nice friendly welcome too. Called in here as a few of us were fishing locally at Greensands fishery (that's worth the visit as well) -opted for 2 x well done bacon and egg sarnies - was even offered doorstep bread but politely declined - and nicely well done it was as well, not burnt within an inch of it's life.

Chunky's sets the standard of how cafes need to do breakfast. Great food, lots of it, cooked to perfection, friendly staff, what more could you want.?

On a recent trip up to York my family and I were looking for somewhere to have a quick lunch. We found Chunky's on TripAdvisor and were delighted we did. The café was very busy but the friendly staff quickly found us somewhere to eat. We each had an excellent ham, eggs and chips and left about 40 minutes later very content. This will definitely be somewhere I return to on future excursion up North.

Had a delicious impulsive late lunch here the food was freshly cooked and small together yummy and tons of it. Friendly staff clean venue. Will definitely be back, prices very good too twenty out of ten.

Chunky’s is the most reasonable priced cafe I’ve ever been into. The food is great, you get plenty on your plate and they cater to all your needs - If you want a baguette with bacon, egg, sausage and hash browns and a splash of Tommy Sauce - you’ll get that! It’s like breakfast heaven. Great grub and great service!

I’ve Recently moved to Sandy and usually I love a good cafe with a big English breakfast. I went in to Chunky’s and had a Chunkys Big breakfast, and it was amazing! Tasted brilliant you get plenty of bacon, sausages, beans, chips, eggs, mushroom, tomato and toast (and I think more haha). Staff were also really friendly and helpful. This place has become my number one spot for a fry up :) I 100% recommend Chunkys if your about in Sandy.

Really lovely breakfasts. Not greasy at all. Staff very friendly and attentive. Made substitutions and gave extras without us having to ask. Quite small and gets busy, as it's really popular.

We went to Chunkies for Lunch, on a recommendation from our neighbours, and WoW!! What a cafe!! The food was fresh and really tasty! I had a burger with chips, onion rings, coleslaw and salad and my other half had a huge breakfast! The service was great! Staff were friendly and the food came really quickly! There was so much choice! We ended up taking a salad home each for tea and I have to say it was by far the best Salad I have ever had!! Well Done Chunkies! From your Two New Fans ❤️

We discovered this lovely cafe at the weekend, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the choice of food is very good. We had the best omelette I have ever tasted, it had four different fillings of my choice, was freshly made and served with chips and salad. We both had this and a drink each and the cost was still under £10!

We order take away breakfast for about 20-25 people most weeks. Everyone loves it. Fat bread, thin bread, sauce no sauce, any mix of food you want. Always fresh. Very reasonable and most importantly, tasty

Don't come here very often, but it is the guilty pleasure. A proper "greasy spoon" cafe with breakfasts to make your mind boggle. Always busy, but they do take out too if you can't wait for a seat.

Hi, You know how sometimes you write a review and then a few days later you think that was good but did I catch them on a good day. Well I decided to do a 10 mile detour and go for another breakfast, I didn’t tell the wife what I was doing but when we parked up she said ‘wonderful I’m looking forward to this’ and I said ‘ looking forward to what , back came the reply ‘you’ve stopped for breakfast haven’t you?’ Well she wasn’t disappointed, again nice and clean, busy but attentive staff and a smashing breakfast. I am going to try and catch them out again next week and when ever I can, I don’t mind the detour, it’s worth it.

Very large breakfast, great value and friendly staff. Very busy and small but great service and great food. Try it, you will not get a better breakfast for miles.

Dropped car off at garage and went for breakfast - they were kind enough to let me have the "kids" breakfast - way big enough for a normal appetite - freshly made piping hot and lots of tea- bliss on a bright but bitterly cold morning

Looked for a cafe in sandy online and chunky’s seemed to get the best reviews....now I know why!!

Four of us visited Chunkys around 10am on a Thursday morning, it was pretty busy and had to wait a few minutes for a table to clear. We had a mixture of tea, coffee & hot chocolate along with a couple of Full English breakfasts, Scrambled Egg on doorstep toast, plus eggs and mushrooms. The food was cooked to order and to a great standard; portion sizes were generous and exactly what you would expect from a town cafe. We also ordered a couple of fresh Orange juices which were served in large glasses and were very nice! All in, a great place to start the day when you want to treat yourself to a hearty breakfast! Would highly recommend.

What a pleasure to have a busy cafe still capable of giving excellent sevice at a great price. The choice was vast,the presentation was wonderful and the food was superb - 10 out of 10.

I have lost count of the amount of times I have been to Chunky's now and every single time I have been impressed. The food is cheap but still great quality, the staff are friendly and the menu has a wide variety.

We've been staunch regulars (and by "regulars" I mean at least once a week) here for the past three years, no point going anywhere else as nowhere else can match it. Yes it's cafe food but done well, i.e; quality sausages not the cheap cereal-bulked offerings found in other establishments, same goes for the bacon, the ham, the burgers.... family run, always a friendly welcome from them all, spotlessly clean, great prices and a well deserved winner of the regional food award they won this year :) Queuing for a table here is not unusual, particularly on a Saturday, yet nobody minds as we all know it's worth waiting for, this is a true locals place and one that Sandyites would be lost without. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Fancied something different a couple of weeks ago and through this site, we found chunky's.Sat down, and straight away was served for drinks whilst checking out the menu.Had a couple of breakfasts, with variants asked for with no problem. Food came out fast and fresh. Lovely meal, lovely service. So, Xmas eve we popped back. And again everything was spot on.No wonder this place is so highly reviewed. Will deffo be back for more. 5*

Yesterday popped in before heading to London, went for the 'chunky's breakfast' it is fantastic, you cant fault the breakfast here. All the food was piping hot including the beans! (no one likes cold beans), bacon and sausages were good and the hashbrowns crispy......you wont see any greasy food in here. Yep it is a great breakfast and the gentleman serving was very polite, welcoming and friendly.

Have visited chunkys several times and always excellent food , good size portions, good value and great service. Would highly recommend .

Every time I visit my best friends who live in Sandy, we go to Chunky's for either lunch or breakfast. We are never disappointed. As soon as you walk in you know you're in a place that's more special than a Subway or Pret - the atmosphere is very friendly and you feel instantly welcome. The owner and staff are always happy to see you and even if they're busy you always get top notch customer service. If you want a great sandwich for lunch, or a hearty breakfast, look no further. The portions are generous - you easily get what you pay for (and then some!). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chunky's to anyone, and I can't wait to come back next time!

I have had brekkie here a few times now and can't fault it. The staff are really friendly and that's great as I am a single lady. They always find me space even when it's busy and they are also happy to move about the menu if there is something you want to change. Great value too and best brekkie in town!! :)

TripAdvisor rank this as the 4th best in Sandy - the first three are NOT in Sandy so this makes CHUNKY'S unofficially a well deserved BEST in SANDY. The cooked food is mainly what one consider breakfast, freshly cooked to order and is delicious and copious - the place is not called Chunky's for nothing if you are on a diet and you will be at some stage if you are a regular customer - perhaps the wide range of salad options would be your choice - but even so the portions are bigger than the proprietor's grin, so take care. The huge doorstop sandwiches are a sure hunger cure - Chunky indeed. The owners are a lovely friendly family - nothing is too much trouble.

Been there three times now, always a nice welcome, clean seating area and the breakfast is terrific. You know its good because there are phone orders coming in all the time, lots of people in and out could not recommend it highly enough as a breakfast spot.

The café was absolutely heaving with both eat in and take aways and now we know why. We were warned there would be a wait which turned out to be worth every minute. One of the best value breakfasts ever for £3.95. We were offered a free drink as compensation for the wait which we declined as no need.

We regularly visit Chunky’s during the week for breakfast and I also sometimes visit for lunch with my sister. We had lunch today and the owner is always very friendly and helpful and brings us our tea in decent sized mugs as soon as we go in, before we have even ordered our food.They do very tasty hamburgers and chips served with salad and a pot of coleslaw and their cheese on toast is very nice. They do healthy food options as well such as jacket potatoes, omelettes and salad boxes which are crammed full with whatever you ask for.Their food is always prepared from scratch with good quality ingredients and is very reasonably priced for the amount of food they give you.We can thoroughly recommend Chunky’s for excellent breakfasts and lunches at reasonable prices.

The best breakfast we have ever experienced and the male owner is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food is fresh and delicious with so much to choose from. Can't wait to return and will be a loyal customer.
