Chu Hoi Chinese Takeaway in Scottish Borders

We ordered a selection of dishes, all of which were tasty and good value as they lasted 2 nights. The munchy boxes are huge!!

Ordered over the phone while staying nearby, our order was ready to collect really quickly and was as ordered and piping hot. We enjoyed our food a lot (chicken chow mein, special fried rice and Singapore vermicelli) and would order again if we were in the area.

Worst Chinese food ever. We were so looking forward to a Chinese meal whilst on holiday in the area. After checking the trip advisor reviews we chose this one and really wish we hadn’t. The chicken was not edible and the Kung poo sauce did not taste as it should more like a congealed hot tomato sauce. Rice was ok. All ended up in the bin.

We had the set meal for 2 and i am so glad we did, they were happy to change one of the mains and changed a portion of rice to chips without any fuss. We carried the meal up to the caravan park on a cold night but the meal was still piping hot. It was really tasty and i don't have a bad word to say about it which is unusual for me. So much food for less than £25 and all of tasty.

It is ages since I treated myself to a Chinese meal, but I always find that only a Chinese Beef Curry can help with flu symptoms. I was not disappointed and am definitely going to visit Chu Hoi again soon

There was a bit of a longer wait than advised, but worth it for freshly cooked delicious food, seasoned perfectly. Friendly Staff

I tried to ask for a meal today but was informed orders by phone only because of COVID. Ok I said can you give me the number so I can sit outside your shop 5 call in.she said it's on the menu then closed the shutter on the door. So then I had to look up the number online & call in from the door as couldn't read the number on the very old menu in the window. Then after receiving my meal I went straight up to my caravan which only took 5mins .yes you got it I has to heat it up as it was Luke warm . Food wasn't the quality of what I remember from previous visits either .

Very nice food, very efficient service. No complaints and would definitely visit again on our next stay in Eyemouth.

I'm not sure how Chu Hoi is #1 in Eyemouth. The 2 other Chinese takeaway restaurants must be pretty bad. Chicken balls soaking in grease as well as the chips which were not fresh either. The sauce in the chicken and cashews very runny and unpleasant. Not for me.

The food was tasty! When we collected our order & got it back to the caravan an item was missing what we’d paid for so we would advise you to check before you leave

Staying in area with family got This Chinese. Food was delicious, very good portion, super fresh, highly recommend.

Ordered to pick up, ready on arrival,staff nice, portions great, and lovely food although salt and chilli chips were not as expected, just chips with a hint of flavour, apart from them will defo be back

Nice food, pleasant service and reasonable price. We purchased our food from this place instead of the more obvious chinese which is on the main street, as a result of the better reviews.

Recommended by a friend, we ordered meals from here on a Friday night. Ready within 15 minutes, no delays when we arrived to pick them up. Very tasty, good sized portions. Great choice.

Very fresh food, tasty. Had a carry out meal for 4, chicken curry, rice, chips, salter& pepper chicken. Staff nice and helpful. Only negative -no complimentary prawn crackers.

After a terribly cheeky conversation with a young girl over the phone who continually read my order back incorrectly and spoke over the top of me, i should have hung up and went elsewhere. The reason i say this as the experience escalated in to the worst customer service i have ever received. When i arrived to collect myself and my neighbour's takeaway which i requested to be ready at the same time, i was presented with one, to which i asked if the other takeaway was ready, to be told no not yet. So i asked for it to be kept warm till my own chinese was ready. A request which i feel is justified to anyone collecting 2 takeaways. Just to clarify my friend phoned before me and i straight after to order, to be told there was a collection time difference of 15 mins and at this point i made the girl aware that i was collecting both so could they be ready at the same time. To which she agreed, so for the next step of event to follow i was shocked. The first takeaway was removed from the counter and taken round the corner where the two young girls stood bad mouthing me infront of a whole shop of customers. I honestly could not believe what i was hearing nor could the guy standing next to me. I said is it too much to ask to collect both takeaways at the same time. Furthermore the girl returned to the counter asking me if i would like her to read my order again infront of the whole shop. I said if you would like, as by this point she was only showing herself up. So to the cheeky counter assistant's i hope your never in a car with three kids trying to order a chinese with a cheeky impatient person on the other end reading ypur order back wrong and when your trying to correct them they keep talking over the top of you. What happened to customer is always right! Looking back now i should have walked out but in my eyes i wouldnt have done that to the owners after making the food. Plus i wasnt brought up to have bad manners! I will say though i shall never return after this incident and i cant imagine many of my friends who own caravans here will either!!

We had a takeout form here twice during our holiday, both times service was excellent and quick. Food was superb . We had the chicken fried rice and the char sui chow mein , chips and the lightest prawn crackers I have ever had. It was that good the first time the kids wanted it again and it didn't let us down.

We had a couple of meals from here throughout the week and the food was just fantastic on both occasions!! Wouldn’t hesitate to come back and would highly recommend it !! Very clean and nice staff ! And lovely fresh tasty food !!

Advised by locals that this was the better of the two Chinese takeaways in Eyemouth. Had the duck with pineapple and ginger, salt and chilli chips, and curry sauce. The meal was so delicious we went back the next night for another takeaway. Good value at £10.90.

Stayed in Eyemouth. Found this local Chinease. Good selection especially of vegetarian food. Food was fresh, hot and really tasty. Highly recommend

Looked at reviews and decided to give it a go, had the set meal for two and it was delicious , could not fault it, quite a few people came in as we were waiting that had placed orders so guessed it must be very popular, would defiantly return again

2 boys and myself on holiday had a takeaway treat on our last night and it was "scrumptious" and "right lovely" to quote.. Would recommend.

This Chinese never fails to satisfy!

We read all the bad reviews and still thought we would risk it . Decor needing a major updating. LAdy on till was super friendly . When we got the food home all really good soft noodles were superb , egg fried rice, chicken fried , Szechuan chicken really tasty lots of chicken and veg, chicken chilli , and spring rolls too. Could not fault any of the food and it seemed to be really busy . Would certainly use again .

The fried rice was so hard I think it had been cooked in China and flown over, the salt and pepper chicken was so tough I think it was related to connor macgregor, the chicken balls were so greasy they slid off the plate.. won't be back again.

Had a meal for two with four mini spring rolls the size of a cigar butt, chicken Kung po with chicken fingers in a plain sauce! Sweet and sour chicken which was deep fried chicken pieces in a paper bag and a tub of plain sauce, and a chicken dish that was rubber chicken and almost raw onions in a watery brown gravy.

Decidimos usar este para llevar por la recomendación a la izquierda en un menú en nuestra casa rural, fantástica elección. La comida era deliciosa, no en grasa como algunas para llevar y bien caliente.

Poor quality, chicken like rubber. Inside the Takeaway could do with a refurb even tho it closes for 2 weeks every year for a makeover but nothing changes. China pearl better quality.

Use this takeaway regularly lovely food and good portion size for the money, would recommend this takeaway. Staff friendly.

It's a bit hidden away and doesn't look much from the outside. But we got a set meal for 3 and it was very nice. Plenty of meat in the meat dishes. Friendly service. Would go again if I was up that way!

This is our local Chinese, been going to it for years. We've sampled many Chinese takeaways from around the country but nothing ever comes close to the food from the Chu Hoi. Personal favourites are the salt and pepper chicken and sweet and sour Cantonese style. Would highly recommend!

Very average Chinese food. Nothing stood out about this. The prawn toast was soggy in the middle. The curry sauce was very bland. Wouldn't return.

I do not really enjoy chinese food BUT after discovering this takeaway, I know what I have been missing. The food was excellent, hot and of good quality. The young lady behind the counter was very proficient and cheery. I have just discovered this but will be using it now. Once been never forgotten. Thanks

I have ordered from the Chu Hoi before, and each time I have been very happy with my food. This time, the server saved me an unnecessary expense by suggesting a slight change to my order & I am so impressed! The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, my food was ready bang on time, and really tasty!

Had a take away meal. Food freshly cooked very tasty. Pleasant staff. Take a bag with you as it costs you 5p for a plastic bag. But didn't mind as food very good.

Service on the phone and in the shop was warm and friendly.Food was ready when I arrived and it was hot and plentiful.Four other people collecting and the phone was constantly ringing reflecting the popularity of the take away. Was recommended this takeaway by the owners of the local garage having discounted it as it doesn't look much from the outside. You should always ask the locals as the food here is delicious and and we were greeted with a lovely smiling face. Portions are huge and there is a good selection of dishes all cooked to order, give it a go !
