This really lived up to the expectations based on the great reviews here. Four of us went for Sunday lunch, it really was as good a Sunday roast as I’ve ever had. Beautifully cooked beef and every aspect of the generous portion was really great. We managed to fit in a dessert too, also lovely. Overall really good value. The service was warm and friendly, we were well looked-after and did not feel rushed. We’d definitely come back again!

One of the best roasts I’ve ever had. Scotch egg to start with chutney which was a great start. Followed by the beef roast which was just unreal. Such a generous portion as well.. was super full but had to finish it because it was so good! Your plate is mounted with lots of different veggies and so much flavour! Can’t wait to visit again.

My partner and I love a Sunday lunch. We've had our fair share of them over the years, and this is the best one yet! The quality of the food is second to none. The chicken was so succulent! All my favourite veggies, including sprouts and cauliflower cheese - cooked to perfection. Would've loved a pudding but had no room left! The service was great, too - a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. I'll be back for sure!

Spoilt by poor service, we'd arrived 20 min early to empty restaurant and was turned away to wait in the car. This has happened 2 times. After ordering we usually have to wait 45+ min for food, I have been many times with family and every time felt the same…. Yes food is good, but Waitress customer interaction needs more work, other restaurants show care and interest in people, ask questions and interact to encourage return customers. I’m only writing this review as I decided to find another regularly place to take my family.

Well what can I say? I think this was the best Sunday lunch I have ever had in Bristol! Simply amazing. The roast pork was cooked so well and was tender with tasty crackling. All the vegetables were perfectly cooked. I haven't stopped thinking about this Sunday lunch since! We will definitely return. Thank you.

Lovely food - really good and exceptionally quality. Well impressed ! The downside is the exceedingly brusque manner of the waitress . Didn’t feel welcome - please remember it’s your customers that make your business successful- or not !

Just happened to walk past and notice they were open for Sunday Lunch and luckily they could fit us in. The lunch was fantastic and one of the best Sunday Lunches I've ever had when eating out. Great Beef, lovely crisp roast potatoes and fantastic selection of veg, all covered in a lovely tasting gravy. Had to try a dessert even though we were both full, but glad we did as they were fantastic too. Staff members very friendly we are definitely coming back to try the Roast Pork.

We have found our perfect restaurant. Three of us had the most delicious dinner - excellent from the start: a small relaxed restaurant, and not too noisy (unobtrusive music - hurray); great drinks list and 5 star food (i had thr most delicious cauliflower cheese soup followed by excellent cod with samphire - with an inspired side dish of broccoli). This is what cooking should be about. Great unobtrusive service and well priced....we will return...

Much to commend this Bristol bistro. Every dish we were served was delicious, stylish and moreish. Portion sizes generous. Wines all solid. Service quite brusque which is exactly how I like it. Today I took my wife and son for lunch. The food was fantastic. Good service and a great atmosphere with reasonable prices. The chicken thighs with potatoes and veg was so tasty!! The dessert of banana and date cake with fromage frais sorbet hummed. Will be back

Once the food comes, it's really excellent. Homely, local, fresh, rich, and those were just the three dishes we shared. However, there is a strangely snooty attitude here (guaranteed custom from the uni crowd?), meaning that you will only be served in their own good time, which could involve the server ignoring you frequently and taking a good half hour to come out with dishes.

Phenomenal beef and horseradish sandwich and magical white chocolate and lemon cheesecake with peach sorbet. Fantastic taste and quality and plentiful supplies of chilled water.

My collegues found this gem of a place off the beaten track an up a steep hill. They loved it so much I joined them on the second evening for a return visit. If you want excellent food at very reasonable prices in an unpretentious environment, then this is the place to go. Due to licensing rules, they don't open late but I dont like eating late anyway. Ask when and why they came to be, an interesting story. I am gluten free, this was not a problem. And often the fish is fresh from the sea that day. We enjoyed it so much, that after the third day of work we went back again! Sadly we then came home..

Fantastic food! I echo what several others have said - the waitress is incredibly rude, I see her partner has responded but arthritis has nothing to do with being downright rude to people. You only keep your customers because of the quality of the food....

This very unassuming restaurant delivered really good food in a surprisingly lack lustre setting. Whilst the focus on good food is of course key it would take very little to smarten this very small place up and turn it into something really special. If it hadn’t been for the TripAdvisor reviews I would have walked straight past it thinking it was a Chinese or take away cafe. That said the menu was really appealing and the food very tasty. Our tables were sticky which was not pleasant however.

Work close by so frequent this place on a regular basis. Lunch is generally better value than dinner. Sunday roast dinner is amazing here. Booking is generally required. Can recommend the butternut squash soup. The carbonara with crispy belly pork for £6.50 (lunchtime). The staff are really lovely. Good local business. They have a separate veggie / vegan menus you have to ask to see it. They aubergine chips are amazing. They use high quality ingredients and cooking is to a very high standard.

The quality of the food met expectations (as previous reviews)- excellent! Walking into the restaurant, you could be forgiven for thinking it's a small, rough and ready café, with its bare wooden tables and chairs but it's all very clean and well laid out for maximum number of covers without being too cramped. With cleanliness comes a bit of a problem because the spray cleaner (presumably) has rendered the table surfaces sticky. We were there at 5:30pm and although we said we were ready to order when the drinks arrived, the order wasn't taken until a few minutes later. We went straight for the main course but had to wait 45 minutes for it to arrive. My (superb) beef would have been pre-cooked and my wife's fish would have taken a couple of minutes at most and there was only one couple ahead of us. Certainly worth a revisit though.

As we were visitng the City for the weekend we were looking for somehwere to have Sunday lunch. Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor we thought we would give it a go and we were not dissapointed.

My husband and I decided to try the roast dinner here after reading many good reviews. We arrived at 5pm and were shown to our table. The place felt cosy and friendly. The drinks menu was extensive and we finally ordered a cider and a lager. The cider was from a farm in Somerset and was lovely. We both ordered the beef roast dinner. After about 20mins we were presented with what looked like a delicious plate of food. The crispy kale on the side was delicious and different. The whole dinner was top notch with loads of beef, carrots, french beans, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. I was totally stuffed at the end, but really wanted to try one of the puddings. I ordered the Bailey bread and butter pudding and that was also very tasty. It’s a shame we live in Swindon it we’d definitely be regular visitors. Very good value for money, highly recommended.

I just had dinner at this amazing local restaurant. Its a small place in a neighborhood, but they had a window seat for me to dine on my own. The beer is cheap, and the food was great. I had the hake for dinner and the apple / plum crumble for dessert.

I was a bit worried that there was only 2 veggie mains, but then I only wanted one dinner, my companions had fish. It was great, lots of delicious things on the plate complemented each other, with plenty of protein. Excellent.

Having seen the amazing reviews we booked Chris and Jo’s kitchen for an evening meal prior to our daughters graduation ceremony the next day.

Despite being late (it seems I wrote the wrong time in my diary) they held our table for us! Excellent food - excellent service - book it already!! We will be back!

I've found the place on TripAdvisor and it did not disappoint me :) Just went in for an easy lunch and got what I expected based on the reviews here. The food was delicious on very reasonable price. I really recommend the place.
