Chococo in Exeter

We stumbled across this little gem and popped in for a drink and ended up leaving with my own body weight in chocolate ducks, eggs and individual choc chocs of every flavour and a tote bag to carry it all! The young ladies were polite and friendly and my chocolate was delicious.

What a lovely surprise… I went looking for the best chocolates in Exeter…. Found I think the best chocolates in devon. its really difficult to get properly served. no one pay attention to you- especially if you go in solo. seems to serve more as a daycare than food establishment as entitled people with their load of entitled kids with nothing better to do spend hours in there which really ruins the atmosphere. workers have no incentive to do their jobs properly as they always look like they dont want to be there.

Brownies and coffee are a regular here. Their triple-chocolate brownie is one of the best I've found and coffee always hits the spot!

Incredibly slow service, barista was more interested in chatting to another staff member. I was asked to wait for my drinks but then others were getting table service despite also being sat upstairs. I had to take the drink back as it wasn’t hot enough despite asking for it extra hot. I also read this was an issue in other reviews. I’m a barista myself and understand that overheating the milk can make the coffee taste burnt however, if someone asks for a drink extra hot just give the customer what they want. Hot chocolate and little chocolates on the side plates were both good.

A great place with high quality chocolates and friendly staff. A good place just off the beaten track to bring visitors to the city.

Visited on Friday with my 4 year old son for a coffee and hot chocolate, after discussing my dairy allergy with the barista we decided it was probably best I go elsewhere, so we left. The barista felt so bad about not being able to make me a drink that she chased us down and gave me some dairy free chocolate and some for my son. Absolutely amazing service and I will be back to buy more chocolate!

Liv and the team at Chococo in Gandy St are fun, welcoming and provide great service. The best coffee and chocolates in town, highly recommended.

One of my favourite cafes to visit, the staff go above and beyond at making you feel comfortable and welcome.. top tier coffee, chocolate and shakes along with some of the smoothest and tastiest gelato you’ll ever try, 100% recommend if you’re in the area. Perfect place to chill and kick back for a moment after a long day of work other activities. 5 whole stars.

Stopped off for a drink and had lunch at same time. Always like a warm greeting and that's what you get on entering this cafe. Staff were happy in their work. Had a couple of toasties which were served with a salad along with an iced hot chocolate. I know sounds weird but suggest you try it and then decide. Selection of chocolate bases to choose from but if unsure staff happy to help. Nice touch is to give you free chocolates to try before you buy 😉 Shop has some very nice gifts if looking for something different. Well worth a visit and will be back when we return to Exeter.

I’ve been going to the Chococo shop in Exeter since it’s opening. It’s the only place for hot chocolate this side of Dorset. The handmade chocolates are heaven and win regular awards. The staff are always fantastic. I feel very fortunate to have a place like Chococo nearby me.

This lovely place in pretty Gandy St does the best hot chocolate always with a handmade chocolate on the side and they offer a choice of cocoa %. The handmade chocs are stunning too and, if hot choc isn't your bag there are other drinks - coffee etc - but this review is mainly to sing the praises of the brand new brownie. Made with milk and white choc. I was persuaded (took me approx 5 seconds to say yes) to try it and OMG, it was delicious. Great idea, long may it remain on the menu.

Chococo Is a place I go weekly, they drinks are amazing and they are so understanding about allergies, I would recommend to everyone

Staff completely overstep the mark (for the second time - I didn’t think this would be repeated after my previous experience). They can advise and recommend and this would be appreciated but this is more like discrimination as we were essentially refused service. It is people’s personal choice on taking risks with cross contamination (that they have to live with everyday no less) and not up to someone in a cafe to tell a 5 year old child what they can’t have. I am fuming with our treatment and will never return.

Excellent cafe in Exeter city centre. Friendly and helpful staff and a great choice of cakes and drinks. The chocolate afternoon tea is wonderful. They also sell a good range of chocolates, gifts and ice cream.

Well what can I say, if there were 6 stars I would happily award this store them. I am not from Exeter but alway make this my first stop when visiting. The hot chocolate is Amazing! The chocolates are to die for and the service from all the staff is exceptional. Liv is a real ambassador for this company and will welcome you with her excellent chocolate knowledge and friendly smile. Definitely my favourite cafe. Well done.

First time we been here after a recommendation from a friend. Glad we went we had yummy hot chocs and a yummy truffles. It’s in the nice Gandy street and was first stop for us after getting off the train at Exeter central, lots of chocolate gifts too all looked so nice can’t believe not been here before! We will be back!

First visit today, Flat White for me and Hot Chocolate and a Chocolate treat for my Grandson. He inhaled his and couldn't stop smiling and gave it a 10 out of 10, stating that it could not be improved upon. My Flat White was flavourful and delicious. These fab drinks were served by arguably two of the most friendly/helpful young ladies, an absolute credit to the business. Can't wait to return and will certainly recommend.

Great stop off to refuel for the walk back to Appledore. Amazing location right by the sea. Good basic but local menu, quick service and helpful staff even though it was lunchtime and busy. have a business locally and I'll definitely recommend THE PEBBLE RIDGE CAFÉ to visitors.

Lovely little chocolate shop and cafe off the beaten track in Exeter. We’ll worth a visit for a coffee, hot chocolate and cake. Be careful if you’re a chocoholic, you could end up spending a fortune in there as they have so much amazing chocolate. If you’re after an alternative to the well known high chocolate hotel chain, then pop in here.

Delicious drinks if you are looking for something special. I love the decor inside, very spacious. Good choice of products.

Excellent for chocolate gifts and a cafe with single origin hot chocolate for all tastes! My daughters plumped for milk hot chocolate with plenty of toppings but my dark Venezuelan chocolate with added flavours of orange and chilli was the bomb. You can choose from a range of dark, milk, or white chocolate and then add to them from a range of toppings and flavours. My drink was perfect as the two additives were subtle, as they should be. You can have a chocolate fondue or really double indulge with a brownie and a chocolate drink. They make brilliant gifts. At Christmas I bought their moulded coco bean which you can fill with your own choice of handmade chocolates, they were selling huge chocolate Christmas baubles and their hot chocolate single origin buttons (to melt into hot chocolate) are the best quality. I’m usually a coffee person but I drink hot chocolate here.

As far as coffee and chocolate go this is the best place in Exeter. Sometimes it feels like sitting in a nursery, but still, this place is quite special.

A really nice chocolate shop with friendly and helpful staff. The ice cream is really tasty and very affordable. Worth stopping by if you want to indulge your sweet tooth.

This was a first visit for me. Googled it while shopping as usual cake cafe closed. This is a little gem hidden away in Gandy Street. Very nice comfy cafe selling the most amazing hot chocolates in different strengths from 70% up to 100%. On this day I had a fruit scones with butter and Jam plus decaff tea. My daughter had the hot chocolate and a cream tea. Surprised by the price I paid just over £11.00. Will certainly go there again. Sat upstairs on the balcony area. Not to sure about the low tables and chairs it felt like being back at school they were very comfortable and we spent about a hour there. They also sell takeaway chocolates. Which we were given a sample and they are lovely.

When we told them how disorganised it is (especially having a gazillion people in such a small space) we were told off with the excuse of being "one min away from closing" . Why do we care?! And how is it even relevant to the fact it's caos in there??! Ice cream wasn't even worth the hassle!

Chocolate Gelato Icecream to die for!

Absolutely loved this place!!! The gelato was amazing and creamy (didn’t taste like any artificial flavouring was used), hot chocolate was made from real chocolate (no gritty taste) and the espresso was a pleasant surprise (very smooth and absolutely no bitter taste, tasted like the amazing espresso you’d get in Italy!) the 2 ladies working there were also fabulous!

They do the most amazing milkshakes, I always get milk chocolate and salted caramel and it has to be the nicest milkshake I have ever had. The drink always comes with a little chocolate gem which is so cute and so nice. I’ve tried the salted caramel brownie and I was not expecting it to be that gooey, it was amazing! The first time that I went there was for my 18th birthday and I got a brie and cranberry toastie that was really good.The staff are always so so lovely whenever I go in. It is easily one of my absolute favourite places in the whole of Exeter.

We make a trip to Exeter from Cornwall regularly so I can get my hot chocolate fix at this place, I'm never disappointed, and that little chocolate with your drink gives you that little extra treat. The staff are always friendly and knowledgable about all the products they sell, both retail and cafe side! The chocolates are amazing along with the selection of cakes and scones which cater for allergies and if you are vegan.

I had a perfectly satisfactory tea with a cute side serving of chocolate. But my daughter ordered an amazing hot chocolate (white chocolate out of about 6 different strengths) with their own ice cream in it. Absolutely original and very tasty, apparently!

If you like chocolate, this is the place. All sorts of different hot chocolates, deserts and all sorts. Wish the menu was a little bit more varied though!

I love choccoco, lovely coffee and cake with a delicious treat on the side. Plus freebies at checkout is always welcome and tasty. They have an extensive vegan selection as well.

The Staff are so friendly and its such a welcoming atmosphere.

The place was packed but clean. Tge prices were SUPER reasonable for the large hot chocolate we got (they even come with a little extra chocolate thingy on the side -see pictures-). The hot chocolate was deliciously creamy and tasty. I also had some of their honey comb icecream and some fruit paste. All of it was mouth watering. Their upstairs restroom are clean and spacious, they even have a baby changing space. Great experience!

Best hot chocolate in the world.

It’s located in a love little road in Exeter with lots of small shops. Staffs are lovely & friendly. Hot chocolates are delicious and authentic. But the price is more London price & i had a slice of fruit cake and it was the thinnest slice of cake i have ever seen. To be honest, i give a huge credit to the person who cut the slice as it’s a skilful to cut a slice of cake this thin!

The tastiest cake and mocha, fantastic staff and a brilliant atmosphere. Loved it!!

If you want an indulgent treat this is the place for you!! Everything is delicious!!

My Daughter introduced me to this Gorgeous establishment, It Looks really Kool (I'm Old and am allowed to say that..!!)The taste I chose was the 100% Hot Chocolate drink.... and for adventures sake, I added a dash of Orange.. Oh My as George Takel would Say... I say, Give it a Go, the Chocolates all look incredible and there is a selection of Gluten free and a Fantastic Vegan selection (That's my Vegan Friends Xmas sorted..)So all in all.... Fandabidozi-Choccy-Tastic.....

Invited to a coffee and cake at this lovely place. I had a latte and salted caramel chocolate brownie which was absolutely delicious! Great atmosphere, a varied menu and a reasonable price. They cater for vegans with many dishes. Will definitely recommend this little hideaway.

The chocolate lovers chocolate shop. A dazzling array of unique handmade treats, from gin truffles to chocolate dinosaurs. Enjoy an amazing selection of hot chocolates in a relaxed atmosphere with wonderfully friendly staff. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Called in for a cuppa & cake, was a little disappointed with the upstairs as students sprawled theeir laptops everywhere so not much space/little consideration. Went downstairs and found a a table coffee okay, cake wasn't up to much really. Side chocolates on saucer were really lovely though. Staff were friendly and helpful. Decor interesting. Clean & tidy.

This cafe is a haven for anyone who appreciates good chocolate. The area upstairs has lots of natural light, which makes it a great place to work while enjoying a cuppa. The staff are really friendly. I've been returning for years.

An amazing 85% hot chocolate. The tea was excellent quality as were the coffees and the delicious chocolate goodies! Great service as well.

Staff where trying to work out allergies, whilst they were being really careful, they struggled to match what was on labels to what allergies were in each peice of choc. And while it was lovely they made sure, it was embarrassing, and they should know what is in when they do the labels and put them out.

Went here for ice cream. The gelato is incredible, the coffee is lovely and the ataff are awesome. They seemed geniuinly happy to help customers.
