Chiquito - Rochester in Medway

We've been going here for years and it's always been good food, some times you have to wait a bit as staff changes quite alot we went yesterday and ordered 4 mojitos and they were the worst, just soda water a glass of crushed ice and mint and that's how it tasted, we complained and they took them away and when they came back you could taste the bacardi but no lime or sugar syrup simply the worst cocktail and they put an extra £18 on the bill at the end for the extra bacardi, we won't be going back

Food and drink fabulous, so good we came back a few days later for a birthday meal! Had the best waiter too Aidan, who was so friendly and helpful!

Aidan was great! Suggested some different things on the menu and the halloumi sticks he suggested were incredible! Very good service, he was super friendly and only checked on us the once as he could see we were chatting away happily!

Good food and great service from Aidan who was very friendly, polite and accommodating. He really looked after us and was happy and upbeat.

The food here is so tasty and authentic and Moreish so spot on food. The desserts as well the churros especially are also good. The staff were getting on my nerves I have to admit as towards the end of the evening they were messing around a lot and having too much banter which isn’t the right place to be acting like that but managers here have been willing to help us out as much as could. The tables here have an excellent mosaic tile look and do match the Mexican restaurant style well.

I am going to keep it short & sweet as possible and unfortunately this restaurant through the years gone downhill! Our last experience was one of the worse! It used to be lovely service food etc but week day we went for bday celebration and everything arrived very late waiting 45 for main to arrive starter was very late too 😕! Very unprofessional management my chicken has arrived burnt like almost you can break a glass with it very solid tried to eat it but couldn’t so had to take it to the manager got replacement was much better but still was chewy ! Overall was I shouldn’t even give any starts but we’ve been going there last 17 years lol! They said short of staff even that wasn’t busy excuses! Unfortunately won’t be going back there long time unless they’ve improved!

Honestly the service was what made me write my first review in a while. Lucas was so positive and friendly he is an absolute credit to the company. I’d come back just for his kindness in a world of miserable people! Food was just right and hit the spot

Unfortunately was extremely slow service was seated straight away with a warm welcome, drink orders as taken promptly then it went downhill. Drinks took 20 mins to arrive and then another 20 mins to take food order. We waited an additional 1 hour for food to arrive and wasn’t offered and apology or another chance to order a new drink. Food finally arrived wasn’t amazing seemed rushed and dry. Ribs could be good with more sauce. Seems to be an issue in the kitchen, shouldn’t take that long to get food out to guests. Overall very disappointed and was not worth a 1hr 30min wait.

I am truly sick and tired to see the quality of food and service continuously decreasing in a time where money are few and people just want to spend them well. The wait for food and drinks was too long , almost 45 minutes for drinks and starters followed by another hour and half for the mains. But the problem started when the food arrived, super dry chicken, not even properly melted cheese on a fondue, fries all stuck together. Just poorly.

Visited this establishment for the first time on this occasion but it will definitely be the last! Terrible service, staff were unfriendly and rude and we were ignored until it was time to pay the bill. The restaurant was practically empty. We were seated and waited about 40minutes before even being given a menu or asked if we would like to order drinks! Due to the prolonged wait we asked for our starters to be brought out with our mains. After a further hour our food arrived cold and raw. Both myself and my partner were served raw chicken breast! Our waitress didn’t seem bothered about this and was unwilling to resolve this she simply shrugged her shoulders and said it wasn’t her problem. We were not offered replacement food or any bill compensation for our experience. We were charged almost £70 for our entire meal. We asked to speak to the manager and when we spoke about our issues with them they seemed equally not phased and bored as the waitress. Myself and my partner were quite I’ll from eating raw food. Disgusting behaviour Raw food No empathy 0/10

We had a table reservation for 6pm and arrived at that time. After a while we had to get a waiters attention to order drinks. Decided to order food at the same time. After 45 minutes I asked a man who I assumed was the manager where our food was. He didn’t come back to update us. At 7pm we told a waiter we would only wait another 5 minutes. Food finally turned up after 5 minutes. Steak fajita which was ordered medium was so tough it seemed like it had sat at the pass on the hot plate for too long. I would like to state, when we arrived the restaurant wasn’t busy. People who were seated after us got food before us. Disappointed at this restaurant as not had this problem at other Chiquitos

Just back from a family meal, food was nice, had one dish fajitas it was spot the peppers (must have been a shortage in the kitchen) with a sea of onions though!, the wraps were cold (must of come straight from the fridge) but the sour cream, cheese and salsa was very warm and close to melting, server's were friendly but unfortunately we were left waiting for such long periods in between it was not great service! And we were not offered more drinks at any point, the servers became more attentive close to the end of the meal near paying the bill time, we tried to pay via barcode at the table,but we couldn't due to no table number so we had no choice but to wait for ages to pay via hand held device, not terrible but so so can be improved on overall satisfaction. I did not tip!!

Food was lovely. Good balance of time between courses. All staff was polite and attentive. Lucas you made the night! What a personality you have. Thank you so much for making my daughter’s birthday such a funny night. You are an absolute star!!

UNREAL. Customer service from LUCAS. Made us laugh was unbelievably polite and catered for all our needs without hesitation and as quick as possible. I would genuinely come back just to be served by this guy again. Was a pleasure. O top of the paella being cooked to perfection! Props to the chef!

Come to this restaurant quite often and last night was the 2nd time we had Lucas as our waiter.He is literally the Best waiter ever! Such a lovely person. Visited Chiquito on the bank holiday Monday, great to have this Chiquito open, whilst is it still outdoor dining, nice views over the river isn't so bad!Visited as a family of four, 2 adults, 1 infant & 1 toddler, service was fantastic courtesy of Lucas, tendered to us & doted on our kids throughout the meal, given this was our first meal out in over a year, we splurged & went 3 rounds! All delicious, well prepared & cooked.Thanks again to Lucas & the others working at Chiquito, highly recommended & great to eat out once again, we'll be back sooner rather than later

Another lovely meal and a nice setting sitting outside in COVID times! Service good from Lucas last week and all the staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Music playing whilst sitting outside is a nice touch too, creating a very pleasant atmosphere.

My hubby and I had a lovely experience tonight at Chiquitos. Food was great and our server Lucas was so lovely. Very helpful and friendly always love visiting this restaurant. Safety measures in place with sanitizer available around the restaurant. A one way system in place. Staff all in masks and a track n trace app in operation. Thumbs up for Chiquitos. A last minute dinner date made most enjoyable by the most friendly, upbeat, attentive member of staff, Lucas. Even though a couple of our menu choices were not available there was no disappointment as he steered us unknowingly to alternatives and added that it would mean we would need to return, and we will, very clever!!Lovely, tasty, social food enhanced by the service.

I took my son and his friend for dinner and the whole thing was fantastic. The two boys had great choices and myself being plant based the vegan options for starters mains and deserts were great. From arriving to leaving the staff were great and Lucas who looked after us was an asset to Chiquitos. I will be coming back

A great restaurant with brilliant, energetic staff. The menu and cocktail are versatile. Its nice to see the restaurant buzzing with socially distance diners on a Saturday afternoon. Despite Covid-19, its a lovely place to relax and dine.

Our server Lucas was awesome, and all the staff were really friendly. Food was absolutely DELICIOUS!! Perhaps just a tiny bit on the pricey side but if you have a Tastecard then it becomes very good value. Highly recommended.

Always a good fair priced meal here at this Chiquito. Our server Lizzie was amazing tonight. Attentive, polite and helpful. Food and drinks came quickly and all very tasty.My only criticism would be that the vegetables need a few more minutes cooking on the sizzler plate before serving. Great that you can use your tastecard 7 days a week here. Would recommend!

Five of us popped in this evening.Made a reservation yesterday.Was seated quickly. Social distancing was good with a one way system.We all had 3 courses with soft drinks.I am vegan (have been for nearly a year) and the vegan menu and options are very good - the best I have seen in a chain restaurant. The vegan lava cake was amazing.My sister is gluten and dairy intolerant and had a decent selection too.Our waitress, Luisa, was very good with knowing what was gluten and dairy free and even asked the kitchen to modify a dish for my sister.Everyone enjoyed their food and had a nice relaxed evening. Thank you.We will be back again soon.

Came for a cute date, got served by Lucas - literally the best server i have ever had at a restaurant. I even recieved a sweet note on the receipt to say 'have a good evening'. Absolutely brilliant.

Table for 4 at 4pm on 27th Sept. Promptly seated with at least 2 metres from any adjoining table. our server was a most affable young man called Lucas. Nothing was too much trouble, he was cheerful and attentive without being overbearing. We all enjoyed our meals. Starters, Mains and Sweets and Ice cold drinks too.There was still a great atmosphere even with the current restrictions in place, undoubtedly due in the main, to Lucas sunny disposition.Will be eating there again. You bet !

We hadn’t been to Chiquito for a few months now due to the virus going around but we decided to treat ourselves for a meal with friends as we craved it too much. Service was amazing from our server Lucas as he went above and beyond to show us the new regulations put in place but to also allow us to enjoy the food Chiquito had to offer. We had really good portions and it all tasted just how it did 6 months ago! So glad that our favourites were still on there as we knew some restaurants had gone to a limited menu but Chiquito still had the ultimate fajita, tacos, burritos, the lot!!! It was nice to feel comfortable in a restaurant despite what’s going on currently and being able to enjoy time with friends and with good food and drinks! Well done to the management for being on top of everything and definitely can’t wait to come back!

We were so sad when we thought Chiquito was shutting and when we saw it’s open it was great news. Was so impressed with all the Covid measures. Our waiter was brilliant and so careful to make sure he was distanced and used napkins on plates so he hasn’t touched them. Food was yummy. Lovely evening.

Our local chiquito has unfortunately closed so we drove just under an hour to come here for dinner and it was well worth it! Delicious food, amazing staff and the social distancing measures out in place made us feel relaxed and safe.

We live Chiquitos , been loyal for about 13 or more years with this restaurant as always been different than other Mexican food restaurants etc ! We’ve been looking forward to see reopening again here we went cut it short service was good as always they work hard & they’ve brilliant but however all our food especially mine was tasteless starter chicken tinga lettuce cups was hardly any chicken on & bland ! My main is recently been same main but again reheated chicken smell , luke warm tasteless my side extra was chicken breast on the side just grilled but dry no taste ! Haven’t said anything to them but eatable just not their standards ! I think prepackaged marinated ready cook chicken would’ve have more flavours!

The staff are lovely, no issues whatsoever, however the food needs attention. It is well presented but lacks flavour. I had the Lettuce cups with Tinga chicken to start, a lot water dripped out into my plate making the lettuce very soggy. Others in our party shared nachos, the portion size was really poor. My steak fajita was well cooked but the onion and peppers were not given time to caramelise before being served. A small bowl containing grated cheese, salsa and guacamole accompanies the fajita. Again the portion size for these was pathetic. Literally a teaspoon of salsa certainly not enough for the 3 tortilla wraps given to you. The dessert was by far the best course. For the price paid there needs to be greater flavour and a more generous portion size to elevate this Mexican restaurant.

Dined here on Monday night, restaurant was busy however we was sat down quickly with no trouble as we booked. Food was brilliant and the service was outstanding. Our waiter was James and he went above and beyond for us. Very good COVID safety guidelines in places, made us feel safe to be there.

Best place to visit whilst your in strood... Lucas is a good host and his a nice person .. his so skinny he looks like a model 😂... food is great, and atmosphere is lovely..

Tasty, enjoyable food with fantastic service and excellent covid measures!!Our kids love Chiquito’s so it was great to head back down for a late lunch now that they have reopened.Firstly, it is worth mentioning that the CV19 measures are excellent, with everything clean, social distancing in place and track & trace in operation.The food here was excellent as always, with good portions of delicious food served piping hot and packed full of flavour.We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and as always we received a warm welcome and fantastic service throughout our stay.It goes without saying that we will be returning!!

Turned up here on Chiquito’s 2nd night of opening after covid19 shutdown. Quickly realised I’d booked the wrong night and I had booked for the Wednesday night, classic school boy error, but I was away with work so had a dilemma. Dilemma averted thanks to the amazing staff for helping and getting a table ready for me. Covid cleaned ✅Escorted to the table and a great waiter came over and served me, first name terms considering I’d misbooked so good on the transfer of booking details, suppose good contact trace protocol.This time I decided to order from the norm, and wow glad I did... had the jalopeno poppers, tasty and vibrant followed by a the fiery chicken, superb heat without being OTT, full of flavour and fresh roasted veg too, not limp and wilted. Loved it, one slight note, the accompanying tortilla chips had a few soft spots in them where maybe the oil hadn’t been hot enough.... but still tasty, and given the service I received due to my error on booking is 100% overlooked. Smells coming from the kitchen with the hot plates even after id finished eating were amazing. Great atmosphere, maybe a tad quieter in noise volume terms than the norm but it ensures people are not having to shout, and the staff are ensuring everything is cleaned. I know next time I’m staying at the premier inn, then I’ll call here rather than going to either of the other local eateries. Cheers guys

Dinner here after a day out at an adventure park round the corner. We had reserved a table but phoned to say we would be 10 minutes late for our booking. The gentleman on the phone quite bluntly told my daughter that it’s ok it’s our eating time we were eating into as they only allow an hour and a half at the table. We are a family of six and we felt it was unrealistic to expect us, with two young children to eat a 3 course meal in this allotted time. My daughter was annoyed at his attitude and told him not to worry we would go elsewhere at which point he backed down and said no it would be ok and we could have the table for 2 hours as he didn’t want to lose our custom. Not a great start, but we were tired from a fun packed day out and needed to eat. Waiting staff were super friendly and helpful. Our waitress went out of her way to oblige us with all our requests. Premises clean, but food is bland. For a food chain who serve Mexican food, theirs is devoid of any significant seasonings or spicing. The fajitas my daughter and I had were almost tasteless. My husbands rack of ribs was dry and needed extra bbq sauce (which he said tasted like it was one of 57 varieties). If you like Mexican food I would suggest you try somewhere else.

Honestly so glad that this restaurant has reopened! Went the first day since it’s reopening and as always had a really good experience! My mum is vegan and there’s plenty of different options for her! The food is always really good, they have the best nachos! And our waiter, Lucas, was great, he had a great energy and gave really good service!

We visited here for my friend's birthday.Being gluten and lactose intolerant makes eating out quite stressful.However our waitress for the evening, Josie was lovely, she checked items on the menu and was very patient. She was friendly and happy to help with anything we asked.The new menu was brilliant. Again Josie was happy for me to mix up gluten free and add vegan options. I'm pleased to hear this venue is not one that will be closing. Will be returning soon

Eight of us went for a post-bowling meal and all enjoyed it. I had fajitas with chicken, pork and steak and despite thd steak being quite tough, I enjoyed it. The bean stew was apparently very spicy, the loaded nachos were nice and the hot tacos were tasty. I would visit again.

Had lunch with my daughter there yesterday and the food and the lovely staff were both great. Had the lunch menu, really good food at very reasonable price. Normally go to Frankie & Bennies but thought we would give this try. Only down side were the other diners, loud and noisy ‘families’ with no manners and oblivious to other people around them. Shame but can’t see that the restaurant can do much about it. maybe ask for a quiet corner, don’t let them put you off.

We called in for a cocktail, I had a pornstar martini and my husband had a fruit margarita we also had a starter each they were very good so we will definitely go back for an evening meal. We had Lucas serving us he was so nice and friendly
