Fab chicken shish with warmed chilli sauce,fresh salad.I still prefer the pitta bread but folded bread available.Chips always plentiful and large fish

This is the best fish and chip shop for miles . Great food fresh cooked and good service . We have been using this fish and chip shop for nearly a year now, it is a bit of a drive for us as we live 30 minutes away but it is well worth the travelling. Always fantastic food and never a disappointment

I bought Cod, Skate and chips. Skate was cooked to order and ready in 10 minutes. All was high quality and the portion was a good size although I had only ordered the regular size. Food was well wrapped and a carry home bag provided. Best fish and chips I have had for many years accompanied by friendly fast service.

Paid fir 1 but Received a extra piece of fish but would of rather received 1 piece that was cooked well and reasonably fresh without the smellOf fish that has been cooked hours ago. If you’ve had dry smelly cooked fish you will know what I’m getting at.

After hearing several great reviews and recommendations, we decided on a chippy dinner. My wife collected the order, but on returning home found the portion sizes had been served wrong. I called the Chippy, and they were only to happy to rectify the issue. The gent at the door was extremely friendly and courteous, and couldn't apologise enough. Quick enough to address the issue, and gave us a voucher for our next visit. Will definetly be back.

Amazing food as always can never fault it asked for delivery but did not realise that it would cost me£4!!! £2 sounds more acceptable! Only found out when looking at receipt so assumed it was free as wasn’t told about the cost that’s the only thing I can fault, lesson learned I guess will collect in future

We come here often and order from here for a dinner. The staff are nice and friendly and the food is always delicious and tasty. We have been having the food here for ages. Sometimes if you order 2 piece chicken you will get another free peice with it. Really nice food and would recommed to anyone who wants to have a nice meal in haverhill. 🙂x

Decided to try instead of going into town. Bad choice. Asked for light battered fish but got mainly batter and very overcooked and greasy ☹️

Chips were very greasy and the cod overcooked. Fair price good service. Only found as working in the area but would not go back

Easy to park and good menu and prices on display can order a variety of fried food and service is always good can be a wait if other customers have large orders but everything is freshly cooked

it's the worst I've ever had chips were like refries, the fish was yellow on the edges & rubbery this was my wife's mine chicken wrap - chicken was so rubbery me dog's refused it, the chips as before mushy peas are under cook very hard & bland, onions rings I had well guess what nearly burnt,

The food is always very good and the staff are lovely and very helpful. Always a good place to enjoy a reasonably priced and good quality meal.

Can't fault a chippys dinner whenever we have it it's lovely and the specials are such good value . Always very friendly service over the phone and at the counter . The only little niggle I have is often when we order over the phone we end up waiting the same amount of time when we get there as if we ordered at the counter and waited . Which we order over the phone so that it's quicker but I understand this when busy isn t always possible

One of this days when you’ve been busy at work, are tired, and can’t be bothered to cook! Glenn and his team always come up trumps. Excellent half chicken and chips, jumbo fish finger roll, all delicious. Have had fish from there many times, and it’s always delicious too. Plus they cater for gluten free diets too. Recommended.

Great food and fair prices, friendly staff, take phone orders and do home delivery. Good sized portions, recommend the fish and the southern fried chickenot.

I can’t fault chippy’s much, the only areas I feel they can improve on is portion size and price, other than that it’s perfect and very tasty!

Fancied a good old traditional English takeaway Saturday so I went to chippys and got a good old fashioned fish chips and mushy peas, wonderful as always spot on well done all at chippys.

Glenn organized delivery for the cod, sausages, chicken and burgers for our party in Hundon last Saturday. Food arrived on time, well packed in marked boxes but more importantly it was hot and delicious. Straightforward, hassle free ordering, exceptionally friendly staff and driver. 5 star rated for food hygiene and 5 start rated for the quality of the food. Most evenings there is a queue in and outside of the shop which I think says it all. Highly recommended.

Chippys are great they offer good old fashioned fish and chips (plus the usual others) at a fair price! They're delivery service is excellent and we've usedit several times as its not local to us. The food has always been hot and we've never had an issue.

Visiting my Mum and she decided she would like fish & chips for her evening meal.Really didn't know this place existed as not a chippy person, what a surprise, the fish was cooked to perfection and the chips were a lovely golden brown not a soggy mass which is usual now days.The queue was long when we arrived - but the staff were cheerful and quick. The shop was lovely and clean.

Have been coming here for decades most weekends and it is still the best fish and chips around. The fish is always fresh and cooked well and they also offer many other choices including lovely kebabs. It is always very busy and I can see why! You won't find better for miles around.

While I don't spend my weekends going round the country comparing Fish 'n' Chip shops I have been going to chippys for a long while now and find the quality of the food and service to be very good. I'm a big eater and I know that if I go large on my order then I'll be satisfied. Recently one of the staff left something out of my order by mistake so I went back and was impressed by how the staff in the shop handled it. Mistakes happen and the girl in question was very apologetic and genuine and everything was rectified quickly even though they were very busy on a typical Friday night. I certainly don't have any complaints.

When I have ordered food from chippy's it has either made me sick or contained hair in my food. Needless to say I will not be eating from here ever again. They also decided to make my Mum violently ill after having a reaction to the gluten-free fish and chips which they assured her that she could eat safely.

Had cod and chips last Saturday fantastic the cod was succulent and the chips were just as I like them. Funny how sometimes it's the simple things in life that are the most satisfying,this really hit the mark treat yourself give choppy's a visit you will love it.

I've been coming here weekly for more than 40 years, that in itself must say something. I moved away a few years ago but still visit whenever I'm in town. I still smile when I see the small army of people serving during busy periods, and I'm always impressed by the size of the sausages and fish, and quality of the chips. All about the oil apparently. Whatever it is, keep it up!

Had fish and chips, both were reasonably good. Fish was big and tasted ok, and chips were no better than average, but small portion. Very expensive compared to other chip shops and service was incredibly slow!

food is average , certainly nothing special and poor sized portions comapred to the other take aways in townworst thing with visiting here is the lines at the till , not because theyre insainly popular its just theyre so incredibly slow at serving people

try to go there most friday nights they will cook the fish fresh for you if they dont have any ready

Absolutely the best takeaway in town quality food, quality service, good value for money huge variety and if asked will even cater for food allergies with a gluten free range. Seriously this little takeaway will go the extra mile well done to everybody that works there if you haven't tried it yet let me tell you its a must.

We've lived in Haverhill/Kedington for over 15 years and the only only Fish and chips for us comes from Chippies served from the mobile Van that tours the out lying villages through the week or the main shop in Strasberg Square where the cue can be 50ft long.For us though the Van in Kedington on a Friday night after a long week is the best. Chris IMHO does cook the best chips, and will cook your fish in just flour if you want a change or are trying cut down the waist line. Try your fish in flour it's really tasty for Rock and Plaice.

It is always good food in Chippy's. The staff are always friendly despite being very busy. Good value for money.

Best chippys in town by far- quality fish is used and they will cook to order for you is skin both sides. Even take phone orders which is great as it gets really busy at peak times

After reading these fantastic reviews, I went ahead and tried 'Chippeys'what an average experience.My large chips was small! the other chip shops provide at least double what I got here.The Cod, was very thin, and the batter was burnt, Underneath it has clumps of burnt batter that was very oily and hard. The curry sauce, was OK, but you dont get a lot.Im surprised really, the chips where not as tasty as the other chip shops in haverhill, and the small amount was very disapointing, I was left feeling very hungry after finnishing it all which didnt take long. Nothing special, Im used to better then this, so im disapointed and very confused why there are such good reviews claiming a large quantity of chips, Thats false. Its the smallest ' large portion' I can recall ever getting from anywhere.Im never buying chips from chippeys again, not much more to say other then take these other 'good' reviews with a pinch of salt!

Based in Haverhill but visits villages near by on week nights. Have to say I am always pleased to see haddock on a menu...and this tasted just great! Cod was enjoyed by others...... Freshly cooked to order, but worth the wait.I would have given 5*..... But paid for chips that I couldn't eat......yes way too many for my family. Would maybe suggest 1 between 2 , unless you have rather large appetites ......Will happily wait for my order again.... Thank You

Tasty food, good variety and reasonable prices. We ordered mid afternoon for an evening delivery for about 18 people, every order different. Food arrived on time and still piping hot. Excellent service Glen and staff.

Fantastic a takeaway that caters for a food intolerance and is delicious. Honestly the best Gluten Free fish and chips I've ever had, and you can get this from the van when it's in the villages in the evening! Wonderful. Staff are always very friendly and know there stuff.

If you want Fish & Chips then this is the place to get them from! Huge Menu selection if you fancy something else! Always packed out so what does that tell you!!! They now even take Card so what's stopping you?? And if you dont want to go out then give them a call as they deliver to! Dont wast your time with any other take out!

I've eaten from here, going way back to when I was a kid. Always been great food and value etc... Up until a couple of years ago that when I eat their battered sausages I get awful stomach pains then throw up, assuming it's because of the amount of grease it's cooked in. I've eaten same stuff from other chip shops and been ok. Staff are friendly but I choose to go elsewhere

I guess for this small town this might be a great place. I am comparing this to places I've been all over the UK and I think it's worth probably 3.5. The fish tasted fresh but wasn't particularly thick. The batter was dull and boring and not particularly crispy. The chips were pretty good but what really let's them down are their mushy peas. The portion I had were not really mushy at all more like marofat peas in a pea soup. If they could fix the peas and the batter I would give them a four

Go there every other week. Always a queue. Even my mother-in-law from Norfolk says they are good. My wife and I now buy a large portion and divide by 2 as the small potions ane large. They also have money taken and food deliver by separate staff so no cross contamation.

Since returning to the UK - after a very long absence - I have gone UK food mad and subsequently gone out of my way to try as many places as possible. Have tried all the other chippies in Haverhill and this one is the best. Even though this is a steadily busy fish and chip shop you always seem to have to wait for your fish to be cooked. Yesterday I ordered Cod and Chips. I then waited 25 or more minutes for my food to be served to me. This was because there was a bulk order for about 23 fish and chip meals being cooked and packed into hot bags by the counter staff to be delivered. Although there was a number of customers waiting - not one of the 3 counter staff them could be bothered to continue to serve waiting customers.During this time of activity there was never an apology to waiting customers about the delay and even when I was served there was no "thanks for waiting".Don't go here if you want to pick up quickly a fish and chip meal - While you're waiting you may start thinking about how long it would take to cook at home!

We have been visiting Chippy's for our family fish and chip treat every Friday for the last 6/7 years. The children love having their meals in boxes and my wife and I always have cod and chips unless tempted by one of their regular fish specials, i love the Haddock! (huge) The quality is second to none. Staff are always dressed immaculate, friendly and nothing is never too much trouble.Shop is clean, tidy and noticed they have maximum hygiene rating of 5 out of 5.See ya Friday all at Chippys :-)

Can't speak for the shop but I must put in a kind word for their mobile kitchen that pitches up around local villages - Steeple Bumpstead in this case. Their fish & chips is simply the best (outside the North where they use dripping!). Good portions, decent amount of fish, perfectly cooked.Nice people too. Once, when my friend left a fiver on the counter, the girl came running after us as we drove away. He almost gave her the fiver in gratitude. Almost...Thanks and well done to you all.

How is it that if you buy fish and chips from the van that this shop has in our village that you get a huge piece of cod and that its cooked to perfection but when you buy the same item from the shop that its half the size and swimming in oil, just makes no sense, I won't be using the shop anymore after years of this

I often go here on a regular basis, always good quality food, better than others in town I have tried. The staff are always friendly and efficient. They now have a website and do deliveries, although I havnt tried this. Never fails to satisfy.

Chippy's never fails to provide really great fish and chips, coupled with friendly, efficient staff. The quality of food served by the fish and chip vans has the same high standards. I have not tried the delivery service, but I think that it is a great idea.

I've been a consumer of Chippy's for years, and they have rarely let me down. Given a 5 star for hygiene by St Edmundbury's scores on the doors they offer great hot food, typical of a British Chip shop. They also now offer a delivery service which again I have used several times and again haven't been disappointed.
