As a northerner new to the area I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get good fish and chips again!! But I was wrong - thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful fish and chips. No need for me to try anywhere else - I have now found my new regular. 🤣Great location too.

Tasty fish. Fried nicely, light and fluffy batter. It didn’t feel heavy. Service was great, our large group was accommodated professionally.

Please please read the reviews!!! This place is horrendous We were booked in the Ivy across the road but unfortunately they’d ran out of fish & chips. Jet lagged and hangry we foolishly chose to eat here in a hurry as we just ‘needed’ fish & chips! The frozen chips, excessive batter and full of grease were all true (we’d not read the reviews beforehand) The place is filthy and the 5* hygiene rating is highly dubious Basically, eat absolutely anywhere other than this place as it’s utterly terrible Oh, and laughably it was the same price as the Ivy for fish & chips

We were hungry, but not that hungry. Three of us had portion of chips and a soft drink each, came to £20.55… and we’re not even tourist I pay my community tax to Runneymede. Chips are not true chip shop chips, were from the freezer. Overdone on the outside, dry and powdery on the inside and the bigger ones hard inside and tasteless. Total waste of money…..

The large fish is an enormous portion. Good texture, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, melts in your mouth. Overall great fish and chips.

This is possibly the worst fish and chips I have ever had the fish was very greesey and the chips were like eating soggy cardboard .if this is tourist's first taste of fish and chips then they must be thinking we are all idiots with very bland taste buds

Situated just next to the Windsor Castle along High Street. this fish & chips place is a bit underwhelming. The fish was not so flaky & firm as other places that I have tried. However, service was good & location was convenient for people visiting the castle.

Decent place for fish & chips right outside the castle walls. Stopped in with friends and got a couple of tables on the second floor. Food is cooked to order and was prepared quickly. A good place for lunch right after your castle tour

Should have at least a zero rating for places like this, the traditional meaning if chippy is not cheap frozen chips, in my opinion this should be forced to close because it's and embarrassment to our cuisine !!! My actual rating is in the minus

I ignored another review and went anyway and was happy! Then again with fiends and their small kids and again with some old-timers like me. Pretty good every time and good value. Had to wait - cooked to order. The Medium size cod and chips on paper trays and smaller size for kids were sufficient. Choice for soft drinks or takeaway tea or coffee. Up the steep stairs is a roomy seating area, and useful toilets! A cheap-café feel, so not posh but for lunch/a sit-down F&C's adjacent the Castle/the centre of touristy Windsor its probably all you need, reasonably priced and OK!

This place was directly across the street from our hotel right next to Windsor Castle, so it enjoyed a very prime location. It was also open until late evening, which was useful. The meal was a little pricey for fish-and-chips at about £35 for two, which I suppose is to be expected in Windsor, but the food was good and was genuine English fare with proper mushy peas and nice flaky fish.

£3.95 per portion of chips that were simply frozen steak cut chips from the supermarket. This is incredible disappointing and verging on the fradulent as 'Fresh Chips' were advertised. I life around the corner from this shop and will never return.

Location good. Service not great (woman just eating the chips). Chips from frozen. Small portion. Also really expensive for what you get. Borderline 1 star tbh. I’m struggling to justify the second star really but my wife said 1 star would be quite harsh and to reserve that for really awful places and this was only awful. Don’t go here

Fish made me so ill 🤢 Staff were also sadly very rude. They refused to allow me to purchase sauces with my card after I had spent £20 already on food - they have a £5 minimum spend. Don’t waste your time, health or money here.

The food is alright. They went a little overboard with the oil. It’s right next to the castle. The seating outside is pretty nice. The menu is limited to fish and chips as the name suggests.

My husband wanted to try the fish n chips from this place wrongly thinking that the food must be good in Windsor! The fish was freshly cooked and good but nothing special but the chips, Oh my goodness they were awful and we left them, they seemed to be reheats and cold. You would have thought they would have peeled and chipped their own chips? What a waste of money and so disappointed, wish we had gone elsewhere.

This is the WORST Fish and Chips I have ever experienced. The first thing I noticed was the colour of the unbattered sausages which my children had asked for. Probably the most unappetising piece of processed meat I've seen and unsurprisingly, they pretty much left the lot which I can't blame them for.On to the chips. What sort of chip shop doesn't even use fresh potatoes and cut their own on a daily basis? This is basic and given that this premises is located in such a prime spot, how can you get this wrong. The chips were frozen and even then were a poor standard. The oil was old which was easy to tell due to the colour of the chips and dirty brown oil they were sat in which even stained the paper.The fish - this was okay to be fair. The quality of the cod was reasonable but again, the batter below standard. I've had many a good Fish and Chips - the best from Fisherman's Chippy in Mevagissey.If you appreciate a good Fish and Chips, do yourself a favour and avoid this place.I paid £19.35 for a piece of cod, three vile sausages and two portions of frozen processed chips - all cooked in old oil.I wanted to return the lot but didn't want to spoil a day out for the sake of a few quid.

Extremely overpriced for frozen chips that weren't even properly cooked! 🤢 Especially disappointing as we waited a good 20 or more minutes for it to be "cooked from fresh"!! What a joke. We should have known by the fact we were the only ones in there it wasn't going to be good. Honestly the worst chip shop chips I've had and the battered sausage tasted so weird! I'm not a fussy eater but could not eat more than one bite. And the rest of my family barely ate theirs either. Do not waste your money here, so many restaurants in Windsor that looked lovely! We ordered a takeaway from this place through deliveroo it was absolutely appalling. The chips were like what you would buy and cook yourself in the oven they were dry and horrible and the fish was very small and slung on top of the chips. The excuse of a burger was awful with unfresh salad. I called to complain and the man was so rude he took no responsibility he blamed it on deliveroo saying he wouldn’t do nothing about it.I handed the phone over to my husband and he got rude to him so we did get rude back we had had enough at this point. He left my husband hanging on the phone why he was still serving he had no customer service skills at all. Avoid this place is my advice.It seems because of the position they are located in right near the castle they think they can get away with serving poor quality food.

Do not order from here! I just got my delivery and the chips are frozen, also the cod was not cooked. I called the shop and they said “I cook maybe 1000 fish a day my friend, maybe I miss one or two a day”.

Very disappointed, added an extra 30% to my contactless payment, only noticed the day after. Do not give this place your business :(

Mammamiaaaa... I didnt eat a tasty fish and chips like this one for many years. Its smells like a sea. I loved it and my kids also. Clean and friendly. also when I did ask about oil, he showed me that they use groundnut oil. So honestly I give 5 stars guys. Well-done.

Came in to grab a portion of chips whilst walking in Windsor. Considering the price for a small portion, £2.50. It was disgusting, they are clearly oven chips, frozen, bought from cheapest supplier they could find. They literally tasted of nothing (and I put a tonne of salt and vinegar on them). AVOID, WASTE OF MONEY, NO WONDER IT WAS EMPTY

Great chippy! Seen some reviews but ordered here because we just wanted something simple. Guy on the counter was great and having just had the food was not disappointed. Really hit the spot. Will return!

Chips tasted oven cooked not like chip shop chips at all. Husband had 3 black small hairs in his portion that just put us off the whole meal. sausage was overcooked and I asked for no ketchup in burger but got it anyway so waste of money. When we called the person did offer a refund so in that respect it was dealt with well but I definetly wouldn't go back

Ordered sausage and chips, chips where reheated and stale, spoiled my experience and my dinner. Rang up to complain when owner answered, only to be told that I shouldn't talk to much, then he hung up, worst customer service ever.....STAY WELL CLEAR

This fish and chip shop is a complete rip off. If you order their most popular dish they lead you to believe it is fish and chips BUT they decide if it comes with chips when delivered by Deliveroo. Two haddock fish with no chips costs you £14 .... I advise to never trust them.

Poor was pricey and poor quality given the price paid. We didn't receive great service either as the manager / owner was quite impatient and not feeling welcomed.

Had takeaway here for five people. For the price and location of this restaurant (central Windsor) we had relatively high expectations for good quality food and service. The chips were overcooked, dry and essentially tasted like re-heated oven baked chips or microwave chips. The cod was greasy and instead of being given one large fillet we received two small portions. The sausages were fine if they hadn't tasted as if they'd been rolled in salt after being cooked. Having been disappointed with the food we decided to call the restaurant and leave some feedback regarding the quality. We were immediately shut down and told that the quality of produce was not satisfactory due to the country being in the middle of a partial lockdown, the person at the end of the phone refused to listen to any sort of complaint and decided to shout over anything being said and proceeded to cut the phone. After calling a second time we were met with the same response, once again being shouted over and having the phone slammed. Given the location and price I would expect far better quality of food and service and the people working here are just downright obnoxious and rude. This restaurant is undeserving of such a prime location in Windsor.

We thought this would be good considering the location, and pricing. Food was horrible. Chips tasted as if they were oven chips. Called up politely to leave feedback but the guy argued blaming it on isolation and there was a problem with supply and cut the call. We called them back a second time and he shouted on the phone and cut the call a second time. Sorry but there is nothing wrong with supply with getting potato chips and frying them normally. I am never the type of person to leave reviews but I had to write one on this occasion. I am writing this because I want other customers to get their money worth and not waste it here at this Chippy of Windsor. Please get fish and chips from Dedworth where they are many better places. We didn’t ask for a refund. We just wanted to leave feedback and that’s the customer service we got. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Surprised they are still open.

I was looking forward to this and at over £30 for a regular and a large delivered I was expecting more. The plus here is that they were quick to deliver. Unfortunately I have the same comments have been previously made. The chips are dry and clearly frozen. Not acceptable. The fish was ok inside the batter..but the batter felt stale.. I ate some of it but through over half of it in the bin. I would like to see the management take note of the comments here and give a better quality and not just sell to the tourists.. I wont be returning any time soon unless there the quality is better.

I was a pretty nice meal we had here. We got a normal portion of cod and chips and they tasted pretty nice! Sadly the price is a bit over the top and also the fish piece on it was smaller than it is at the local restaurants. Propably because they are very near to the castle. I would suggest get your eating experience somewhere else but if you just want to grab a fast snack its totally fine to eat here.

We went in for fish and chips on Monday evening and glad we did. I had Haddock and my wife had cod the were both cooked from fresh and was excellent. The service was excellent and the food came quickly.

My fish fillet was wafer thin, chips were not freshly cut ,but cardboard frozen type, tables were sticky, service was ok, but the chippy's friend/relation was a bit rude, pushing the customers to trying make hasty getaway, overall a lot of improvements need to be made to make successful business.

Dreadful!!! If I could of given no stars I would of. Should not be called a chippy, dry chips which are from the freezer they are no way chippy chips!!! I was so annoyed as that’s what I fancied chippy chips. We had this delivered by Deliveroo who were good and very quick. The sausage in batter didn’t have a lot of batter but wasn’t crispy the chicken burger was covered in mayo and ketchup but it doesn’t say on the menu when ordered that there is sauce on it. The curry sauce was awful just tasted of curry power. Never will I order from there again.
