First meal out with friends for well over a year! Chinese Manor House is still as good as before: Thai chicken for starters and crispy chilli beef with fried rice for mains. Really nice & good portion sizes. So much nicer here than the majority of Chinese restaurants, which may be cheaper but lack quality. I could eat here every day of the week!

We ordered a takeaway from the Chinese Manor House restaurant very friendly on the telephone who was answering our meal was really very tasty highly recommended

Went in August to celebrate my Dads birthday. We all had soup to start with. 2 of us had Hot and Sour soup which was excellent. The other was chicken and sweet corn which they said was good. Had shredded crisps beef for our main and that was excellent and just the right level of spice. Only downside was had a wait a while for our first drinks but apart from that was very good.

Great Chinese restaurant, been going there for many years, sitting in and take away. The food is first class, always delicious and piping hot. The staff give great service and are very friendly and helpful.

Been going here since not long after it first opened well over 10 years ago. By far the best chinese in Edinburgh. Service has always been outstanding. Food always tatses fresh and flavoursome - not greasy in the slightest. Couldn't recommend more.

I have been in Edinburgh for six years and still haven't found a better Chinese Restaurant/Take Away. The Staff are always friendly and helpful and all the food I have had have been of the highest standard.

We have sat in and had take aways here for the last 10+ years. The best Chinese food loved by the whole family and extended family. We have brought people here from far and wide and did not disappoint once. Birthday’s, Anniversary’s or just any excuse. The staff are always lovely and it’s always nice to be recognised when you return. My favourite dish has to be crispy shredded chicken in chilli sauce. Can’t wait to be able to sit in again and enjoy our meal with the great atmosphere.

Have visited this restaurant several times and all the food I have had has always been amazing. Sweet and sour chicken and fried rice is lovely and big portions. Restaurant is beautifully decorated and business lunch offer is great value for money. Will continue to be a family favourite.

Since opening, Chinese Manor House has been our family's favourite Chinese! The food is second to none, absolutely delicious & the staff so friendly! Felt safe when dining in August, my first meal out post lockdown.

I’ve been using this restaurant for a number of years and have introduced several other people to it. Everyone has enthused over the authentic quality of their food. The management and staff are very friendly and very caring and always aim to resolve any issues fairly and positively...not that there are ever many problems. Their attitude to the community excelled during lockdown when they supplied the NHS with 30 free meals every week for 12 weeks as well as free deliveries each week to local vulnerable people nominated by the community. Can’t speak highly enough of them. If you’ve never been please give it a try. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Can’t go this Hogmanay but will certainly be getting a delivery.

The Chinese Manor House has been able to continue to cook and deliver fantastic food during this difficult year. The staff have remained helpful and friendly throughout and have gone above and beyond to deliver a five star service regardless if you eat in or collect a takeaway. The authentic taste of the food is the closest that I have sampled in the UK to what I have eaten in Hong Kong. I would highly recommend this place for those of you that enjoy your Chinese food.

As a regular customer it is easy to forget to review. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten in. All the dishes we have tried have exceeded expectations and some excellent fusion food too like salt n chilli haggis which is a great starter. Some beautifully authentic traditional dishes but caution to those who don’t like it hot as sometimes it is authentically spicy. Cold beers and a friendly service every time. Highly recommended.

Visited the Chinese Manor House today and as always we were warmly welcomed. This restaurant is very pleasant and comfortable and the service received is of an excellent standard. Staff are always friendly and courteous. There are plenty of choices on the menu for many tastes and the food is delicious. If you are in the area any time pop along. The staff will be delighted to see you and you will thoroughly enjoy the experience. It’s not to be missed!

The Chinese Manor House is without doubt one of the best Chinese restaurants in Edinburgh. We have used the restaurant for family birthdays, get togethers with friends and take away meals over many years. The food is always excellent & service from all staff fantastic. Highly recommend.

Having travelled the world staying in Hong Kong for three years having tried all Chinese cuisine we find the Chinese Manor House in Edinburgh to be one of the best authentic tasty dishes we have ever tasted. From the presentation to the manor of the staff, we found to be 5 star quality. Great to see in this day and age, the friendliness and cleanliness of an outstanding restaurant, we will be back again. Ps, the king chilli prawns are to die for.

Had a takeaway last week and as usual the food was excellent and very tasty. I especially loved the crispy beef in chilli sauce and the lemon chicken. The delivery also came promptly for a Friday night. It was so good we are getting another one this weekend! We have not physically been in to the restaurant since covid started as we have two elderly mothers but will definitely miss going on New Year's eve for dinner as last year was fantastic and enjoyed by all. So for now we will continue with getting takeaways and hope to go back to the restaurant personally in the New Year. I would recommend the Chinese Manor House for its quality of food and the great service we have had in the past.

The food here is consistently good having been there both for special occasions ( birthday and Mother’s Day) and just for lunch as a treat after lockdown! These are some of our favourite dishes and we’ve sampled quite a few!Particularly good :Pineapple fried rice -yum yum Salt and pepper tofu -gorgeous Delicious dim sumSoft shell crabs to die for Their steamed scallops are lovely -any style The steamed sea bass was wonderful The chicken pad Thai Delicious sides of fresh greens are a must This place is a must go for any tired palate or change of style. The staff are really lovely too and always willing to help. Only mention a birthday and they are there with sparkles and a treat!

Catherine and her son greeted us at the door for my grand fathers 70th birthday. The service we received was by far the best service I've personally had before. We also booked again for my granfathers diamond anniversary. We had the private function room for 15 family members order was taken all together and within 40 minutes everyone's order came out piping hot no issues whats so ever. This happened on both occasions They also giving my grand father a birthday present and went out there way to decorate the room and had taken photos for the special occasion. For this reason my granfayher loves this place and vists once every fue months. He would love to visit more often but due to poor health unable to now. But still talks about Chinese Manor House to this day. I can honestly say this place holds a special place in my heart. Also salt and pepper haggis bon bons are to die for

Been using the Chinese Manor House for a number of years and cannot fault the food quality, overall atmosphere is great. Sharing platter is brilliant. We live locally and it’s always the perfect place for a special occasion. Recommend for couples and big family gathers when this is permitted again after COVID restrictions end.

We get a take away from the Chinese Manor nearly every week.Staff are very pleasant and courteous.Delivery is quick and efficient.And most importantly of all the food is delicious.

Our go to Chinese restaurant for takeaway and occasions. The food is excellent, with a wide choice. We try not to fall into the trap of ordering the same thing every time (except hot and sour soup) And we’ve never been disappointed. Parking is limited on site but there are free options nearby

My family all love the Chinese Manor House. It’s a great restaurant to meet and eat, but also a great take-away facility too.Our special favourite when we visit are the banquets, which satisfies everyone’s needs. However there are some unique, amazing dishes like the Salt & Chilli Haggis starter and the Szechuan Hot Morning Glory Chicken.

The Chinese Manor House is our new go to choice for great food when a take away is the only answer.The food is fresh, light and tasty. It’s all cooked promptly with none of that claggy thick sauces that poor quality Chinese restaurants often serve.Highly recommend the Singapore rice, king prawns and black bean sauce and crispy duck.

We have had quite a few takeaways this year from The Chinese Manor House as we couldn't go out as much as we would want, their takeaway food is just as good as the restaurant food (and it is excellent). I am looking forward to going back when we are able to but in the meantime, can't fault their takeaways.

This is our local Chinese Restaurant which is only one mile from door to door. If it was miles away it would still be our favourite, as the food selection and quality is excellent. The staff are very friendly and provide excellent service. Whether we are sitting in or just having a carry out the food is allways "Tasty Tasty Tasty"

Chinese Manor House is exceptionally good, we have visited for 20 years, but are most likely to take out.Highlights are definitely the hot and sour soup, handmade crispy spring rolls, prawn with ginger and spring onion, black bean mussels, bbq two roast, stir fried Chinese vegetables, aromatic crispy duck and chu chu chicken. Both noodle and rice dishes are delectably good. We always look forward to a good meal from Manor House thank you for your hospitality ❤️

As a regular here we know what to expect but I asked for a very hot dish it was brilliant. service great as usual. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who thinks that Chinese food is sometimes bland . 10/10 Well done guys

Fantastic Food and Service as Always. Visited on 30th November and had the £10 off per person eat out to help out offer. Food fantastic quality as always and my 4 year old boy loves their Chinese chicken curry. The sizzling beef with spring onion and ginger is phenomenal. Will be back soon

Don't make the mistake I did ! I love Chinese food & whilst on holiday in another part of the UK I bought a take away ( my usual meal ) & sadly this meal was so far behind in the quality of ingredients used & the love in the cooking of the meal, it made me think ! - Never order your favourite meal when your not in your favourite restaurant. Keep up the consistency during the tough times.

We’ve eaten in this restaurant a few times and had lots of carry outs. I can honestly say that it’s the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been to. The Hong Kong Legacy Lime Duck is to die for!I’ve always found the staff to be pleasant and helpful and the delivery times are very prompt.

My friend & I had booked to visit our favourite Chinese restaurant for lunch. We were- as always- warmly welcomed & shown to our table. The Menu included a 3 course Christmas lunch which we chose while munching on warm prawn crackers! I chose the ribs to start, my friend the prawn cocktail - we were so full that we chose to share sweet & sour chicken & were given the second portion to take away (that’s dinner sorted!!) Dessert - banana fritters & ice cream for meIce cream & sauce for my friend Wow! It was an amazing meal - piping hot - (over) plentiful & totally delicious. No wander this is an award winning restaurant

Love the Chinese Manor House and I am regular with my elderly mother. We love the staff who are so friendly and welcoming and the wide variety of food on offer including Thai. You will not be disappointed here as only quality ingredients are used and their chicken curry and sweet and sour are my two favourite mains and I should mention the duck dispenses are equally deliciou. My mouth is watering writing this review and I’m hoping for a birthday treat here on 28th Dec so will be dropping hints to my family before Xmas as it is so local for me as well.

We usually under normal times go to The Chinese Manor House every Friday night for our special meal but now have it delivered. The meals are always delivered in good time and remain piping hot. As I am on a Gluten free diet my choice is always chicken and sweet corn soup, delicious, and king prawn sweet and sour Cantonese style with egg fried rice specially cooked for me without soya sauce and that too is wonderful. My husband varies his choice and we both have never been disappointed. All we can say is a big thank you for their service during this terrible time.

My first time going to the Manor House for my friends birthday meal, we got there and the had us booked in for the wrong date although we were told differently, we weren’t shown to our table basically just got told where to go, then we got our drinks order taken which one of which wasn’t right, the food order got taken and my friend starter wasn’t correct and the women serving looked at us like we were wrong and tried to say that’s what she ordered, then the mains came which was fine although not quite sure why I had raw vegetables in my Chinese chicken curry, the women plating the rice leaned right over the table and wasn’t giving any space. Everything kept getting placed at the edge of the table which I thought was wrong when there was a space next to my other friend, then it came to paying and the bill got brought straight to us before we could finish drinks then the women came straight over with the card machine for us to pay without giving us any time to get sorted as they directly looked across to our table which I felt uncomfortable with, there was no track and trace or hand sanitizer available, the staff didn’t have the face masks on properly. The food was nice but the service was shocking, I didn’t enjoy my first and only experience in the restaurant.

Wanted to visit for such a long time then lockdown happened so managed to collect a takeaway food was delicious cant want to visit in the New Year when hopefully things will be less hectic

Been twice recently and the food was excellent. It is of a very high quality and the staff are incredibly attentive. Not a cheap option but delicious.

I was really looking forward to coming yesterday for lunch. My friend had pre booked the table and when we turned up she said it wasn’t booked. The way the lady looked at us really made me feel very uncomfortable. We got in and sat at a table. The lady came over and took our drink, which I asked for an orange and lemonade and it came back just with orange juice. We ordered our food and everything was fine. My friend ordered a starter when it came out it was the right thing she ordered the lady said are you sure, cause that’s what your ordered, but my friend hadn’t ordered it at all. The 2 girls stood at the bar staring over at our table and pointed over at our table which had made me feel very uncomfortable. Our mains came and everything was fine, the lady was dishing out the rice for me and my friend, my friend was sitting next to me, and stretched right across the table in front of me, no personal space at all, it put me off eating. By that point I just wanted to walk out. The food was good, but the service was absolutely terrible. And the staff made me and my friend feel very uncomfortable.

We went for lunch and must say it has to be the best Chinese I have had. The Spring roll to start with was incredible. I normally don’t eat much rice but this egg fried rice was off the scale. Chicken Curry was deadly, cannot fault the service. To top it off we were given complimentary prawn crackers that sealed the deal. Well played Chinese Manor

Probably one of the best Chinese meals I have ever had. A large and varied menu with items not usually seen. Well spaced out due to the covid 19 but did not spoil the ambiance of the place.

Had a lovely evening, we shared crispy wontons to start i had king prawn curry for my main and my husband had chicken foo young. Everything first class.

Had a wonderful meal tonight and benefited from extended Eat Out 2 Help Out scheme that is being offered throughout September. Quality of meal and service once again superb. We had selections from special menu, soft shell crab and salt and chilli tofu appetisers examples of varied menu. Main course fillet steak in spicy sweet pepper sauce superb, and not too expensive. Can’t recommend this Restuarant and team enough. Thanks to Danny, Catherine and staff team.

Went to Chinese Manor House tonight thought we would support local restaurants taking part in the government eat out scheme!! I’m sad to say it was not a very good experience at all! We were shown to our table and our details taken as we arrived which was fine. We ordered quickly as we only had the table for 1 hours and 15 mins which was fine, but our waitress who took our order came back 10 mins later to check what we had ordered she obviously hadn’t put order in yet. Other diners who had ordered after us got served first we let this go our starters arrived and were fine, our mains were not nice at all fillet steak in mandarin sauce was chewy and had fat on some of it the Thai curry was Beef when it arrived and we had ordered chicken so they changed it and it was like soup with chicken floating in it!! The portion sizes were very small and prices very expensive even with our discount!! We will definitely not be back very disappointed.

Went to the Manor last week with my friend and son. This is my favourite chinese and highly recommend. We were shown straight to our seat quickly and had a good distance between each table. All staff wore a mask at all times. Food ordered and brought out very quickly and tasted amazing as always. (We had chicken noodle soup, chicken chow mein, soft noodles and chicken curry then an ice cream). We had a couple of special requests, no veg in noodles or curry , neither of which was a problem to them.

Booked a table for 7.30. Arrived on time and shown to our table which was well away from the closest one to us. The social distancing across the whole restaurant was very well done. The meal was delicious and served by a member of staff who wore a mask at all times. The staff were lovely and very attentive.Would recommend the Manor House as we have been lots of times and it never disappoints.

Here is an honest review of our evening meal 21st of August.We arrived and were seated to our table. Social distancing was in place as best as possible which was good to see. We ordered 3 starters, which was where the first issue began. One of them arrived late instead if all together. The won ton soup was OK. Peking ribs looked as if they were covered in a batter then deep fried. They were also very chewy and tough to eat. Our starter that arrived late was salt and chilli shredded crispy chicken. This was tasteless - and to be honest you could hardly taste the "salt" or "chilli" aspect of this starter. For our mains we ordered a combination satay and a king prawn satay which arrived in a sizzling tray. This was probably the worst satay I have had in a Chinese restaurant. The sauce was tasteless - very very poor. Some good feedback was one of the waitors came and asked how our meal was and I explained to him my thoughts, was very attentive and offered us something else, so the service from him was great and appreciated.Overall, the meal was very bland and ridiculously over priced for the quality of the food.

Enjoyed an excellent Lunch for two off the Business Lunch Menu of: Spring Rolls, Chicken Sweet and Sour, Sliced Fillet Steak in Black Pepper Sauce - both served with egg fried rice, followed by Banana Fritter with ice cream. Even better on Eat Out half price offer. Restaurant was busy, but good service and Covid compliance followed.

Went to the Chinese Manor House for a family meal after it being recommended to us. The food was excellent especially the hot and sour soup! The restaurant was laid out very well for social distancing! The only downside of the evening was the time taken to recover our first drinks but the restaurant was very busy at the time. Would highly recommend and I will definitely be returning to the Chinese Manor House!

We booked a table on Wednesday 12th August.This was my wife and I's first meal out since lock-down. Since we've been isolating/shielding for some time now, we were both very excited. But to be honest, we were astonished at the sheer lack of care when it came to social distancing in the restaurant. Fine, the staff were wearing aprons, masks, gloves etc but the tables were all full and people just crammed in. I think i maybe saw 2 tables not in use , with barriers. Almost as a token gesture to customer safety.The waiting staff showed us to our table, but we were right next to people either side of us. I mean, touching distance apart! Folk at nearby tables getting up and down, back and forth to the bar, it really was quite unsettling.My wife felt extremely uncomfortable, and i asked the waiter if he had another table away from others, and all I got was a huff and a puff. Eventually they found us another table, but I must say that my wife and I felt extremely uncomfortable for the remaining time we were there. We ate quick, and left soon after.What we expected to be a lovely meal out, turned out to be a terrible experience for us. This blooming virus needs to be taken more seriously! Filling tables is obviously more important than the health of their customers. Will be avoiding the Chinese Manor for the foreseeable future!

Their food is great I can’t deny that but they seem to have fewer options than other Chinese takeaways. And the staff are incredibly rude. In the past I have tried to order over the phone and they sound very disinterested in giving any kind of satisfactory service. Many times i have gotten a delivery and it is either wrong or they have forgotten a few things and they just try to brush it under the carpet and like I am stupid. I shall be taking my money elsewhere!

The Chinese Manor House has top quality food and has brilliant staff! They gave got us through lockdown! They are wonderful! Their gift of food to the NHS weekly to the Western General Hospital is amazing and their meals to the elderly and vulnerable is inspiring! Thank you so very much to you all! I arranged for my elderly neighbour to receive one of the free meals during lockdown she was delighted and said it was delicious. I have had a couple of takeaway as well which were good.

My mum recently received a free meal from The Chinese Manor House as part of them helping the vulnerable in the local community so well done for that. The meal my mum received was delivered piping hot, a generous portion and was the best curry chicken my mum has ever tasted. I am also a customer of theirs and always receive delicious fresh food from them.

Food was lovely and service was great. Been a few years back for a sit in meal and would definitely be using the takeaway menu again.

We don't eat many takeaways however since lockdown we have one once a week and are using it as an opportunity to try new places. Chinese Manor House has been out favourite so far and we have returned 3 times. Definitely the best takeaway we have had in Edinburg. Highly recommended.

This is not our normal place to have a Chinese takeaway but given the covid situation we thought we would give it a try. Looking at the reviews we expected good food and service. The food was average at best and customer service lacking. We ordered 3 main courses and only received 2 of the 3 main courses. Mistakes happen but there is clearly a lack of attention to detail. The order was repeated to me by 3 members of staff but no one checked what was in the bag. This meant one unhappy dinner in the family. So always check your bag before leaving and the food was disappointing so I cannot recommend.

The Worst Chinese EVER. After reading what are clearly made up reviews had the worst Chinese carry out ever anywhere. The main dishes were bland and tasteless. The rice was over cooked and hard and the noodles also over cooked and tasteless.

I grew up in Edinburgh and have always known this Chinese Restaurant has a name for being the best it's so highly spoke about but with living kind of far outside town never got a chance to try it.. until now and oh my god am I glad I moved to Cramond.

Obtuvimos un banquete para 3 (en realidad podría haber alimentado a 5 personas) y fue la mejor comida china que hemos tenido durante años. Haremos esto regularmente durante el período de "apagado". Enjoyed a warm welcome for my birthday at a difficult time around the world. Fantastic quality of food which is always the case on every visit including takeaway food. A good variety of choice including gluten free. It’s the best Chinese restaurant in Edinburgh by far. Friendly helpful staff in person and on the phone.

I've been going here for years and it's always been a consistently excellent place to eat. The staff are friendly and efficient, as is the kitchen. The chef is extremely good and will always give you recipe tips if you ask him, which you will want to because his dishes are some of the best in the city.

Phoned through our order - lemon chicken. Beef in mandarin sauce. Noodles. Prawn crackers. It was absolutely wonderful & very good value

We had friends to stay over last month and wanted a really good Chinese take away meal to enjoy with them. We were not disappointed! Going by a combination of trip advisor ratings and proximity to our home, we chose Chinese Manor House and would certainly use it again.

Lunch with colleagues , it was cold in the restaurant, and absolutely no atmosphere, food was lovely as always and staff were very nice, needs car park as the car park they have only holds 5 cars.

We were a large group of 17. They were able to accommodate everyone with no issues. They cater for vegetarians too. We were there until closing and they didn't rush us to leave. It was a great meal and a fab evening.

Very tasty meal we had this evening. Peking spare ribs were very nice, no complaints whatsoever. The fried rice was nice but it was just rice, bland and nothing else. I had squid in ginger and spring onions, again very tasty but lacking a kick of ginger. My wife had chicken fried rice but covered in a weird gravy.

Came here when I was travelling and wanted to have some chinese food. I'm quite picky when it comes to chinese cuisine as I come from an asian country but this place did not disappoint! Really enjoyed my meal and price range was decent. Would recommend to my friends that visit :)
