Chinaskis in Glasgow City

Previously had some good experiences here but stay away if you have a real gluten intolerance or are Coeliac. Not sure if it was an issue with the kitchen or the waiting staff but raised dietary requirements whilst ordering, and again when the food arrived, to confirm this twice. One of our party had an almost instantaneous and severe reaction to their food ending our night before it started. Probably ok for other things but I wouldn’t trust them to cater for allergens well and would say actively avoid if the above is the case.

So there's this bartender here who is just amazing who went out of her way to show me kindness and welcoming. I can't wait to go back. I might go today

Went here with some friends and ordered the chinaskis burger, it was way below average. The fries were like someone had chopped them into tiny bits before chucking them into the fryer. The vibe is good and the service was decent but food really was disappointing.

Went here today for the Sunday roast and was blown away with how good it was. The chicken and the beef dishes were both unreal and although the proteins were cooked perfectly it was the accompaniments that stole the show for me. I want to buy barrels of the sauce so I can have a bath in it and drink my way out. Yorkshire puddings were giant. Roasties that were heavy crispy on the outside and fluffy as clouds in the middle. The maple glazed carrots were the best and I can’t stop thinking about them. Service was great as well. Thanks for a cracking Sunday dinner.

Great bar. Great atmosphere. Excellent bourbon selection. Buckowski would be proud.

Best restaurant in Glasgow hands down. My partner and I are here at least once a month. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is intimate and the music is always on point. The Bukowski theme only adds to the feel (even though he’d probably have avoided it like the plague). Never had a bad experience with this place.

This place is special!!! The food is creative, bold, and delicious. Service and drinks are great. Had the cauliflower, lentils, sweet potatoes, Thai salad, and mussels. Everything dish was absolutely amazing.

Food was decent. Nothing to write home about and a tad on the expensive side, but still a good place to pop in for a bite. Service was excellent.

Beer garden, friendly staff, dog friendly

Always enjoy coming to Chinaskis, their own IPA & Lager on tap is decent. My only criticism is that there are some fairly hazardous lights in the beer garden out back. I hit my head pretty hard on one of them, and minutes later saw another patron do the same thing. We were both caught completely unaware, in much the same way as the EU was with Russia's Special Military Operation into Ukraine.

Nice beer garden out the back. I had a vegan margarita pizza. Was delicious. Couldn’t tell the difference between non-vegan. I had had a few beers by that point though 😂

Had a few drinks and spent a lot of money 22/4/23. Staff very good and sufficient but somewhat...aloof, like no one knew anything about drinks apart from them. This sounds like the above review about the soda water arrogance. Despite spending at least £150, asked to move from our table in an almost entirely empty bar because someone else had booked that table for 2. Mental. It will be a while til we're back.

The cocktails here are pricey but they’re worth it. Staff are great and the beer garden is lovely.

Food was excellent (I had the pizza but was jealous of the other offerings) - clean pints, great service.

It's more expensive than what is advertised online - they have obviously raised prices with inflation and not updated the website yet. So not exactly as cheap as it seems - some 'large plates' quite small for what you pay. Pizza was okay. Will go back for drinks, not food.

OK, if you’re on the way to somewhere else I guess…stopped in for a couple of quick drinks, which were OK, but not what you’d call ‘cheap’. Taking into account it IS a small bar, it seemed really cramped and the seating not particularly comfy…there wasn’t a lot of folk in when we visited either. The only loo working was the single PRM one on the ground floor, so not great when you need to use the ‘facilities’ either…

This place would be brilliant if they had enough people serving at the bar. Lovely bar, great atmosphere but I don't want to wait 15 mins at the bar. You need to turn around drinks faster.

Had a fantastic cocktail and some skin on fries as a snack. Both delicious and great service with a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend and will be back!

Afternoon drinks with workmates, chilled atmosphere with low volume soul and funk tunes to keep your feet tapping.

It's a good bar, good drinks. The bartender was spraying his friend with soda water and it hit my mate. He didn't apologise, he just replied "it's just soda water". The staff seemed a lot more interested in talking to their mates than serving anyone. Really nice place, just maybe don't stand at the bar too long...

My favourite bar in Glasgow. Great food (although I did get a cremated pizza once). A limited but exceptional spirit selection and the beers were all good. Also I liked the Bukowski vibe.

Just popped in on route to our hotel. The decor is stunning and gives the place a lovely ambience. Large selection of cocktails the 2 of which we tried were delicious.

Good selection of beers and bourbons and well made cocktails. Food is good too. A bit on pricey side but worth it for the semi occasional visit

Popped in for dinner on way out to an event. Food was great, well presented and best of all well priced. Staff were excellent and on hand when needed. Will be back.

I love, love, love Chinaskis. Great atmosphere. The food especially the Tacos are delicious. Great place for pre's before a night out.

Have been in for drinks several times and always enjoyed the atmosphere. We stopped in on Friday and ordered some food this time too. The small plates were really lovely, we tried the cheesy chips, cauliflower, popcorn chicken and brisket spring rolls. Everything was magic and we would definitely eat here again.

The manager was very rude. The food was not satisfactory. Prior to Covid, the food and service was excellent. I was very disappointed. I hope this place gets back on track.

Horrible place with a horrible deputy manager who tries to kick people out when they point out she's had too much to drink. She shouldn't arrive at 12:30 for a 17:00 shift

Staff great and attentive, tables wiped down before sitting but music playing far too loud and £34 for 2 drinks and 2 pizzas seems expensive. Pizza was no more than average, a few slices of pepperoni and thin layer of cheese,not great.

Nice pint but the best part of £6 for it is a bit much

COOL BAR. If you’re venturing to the West End from central then pop in here for one. Chilled bar area and nice beer garden. Staff could have maybe been a bit more attentive and less on their phones (it was quiet when I went in but still, it doesn’t look good). The beer garden is small, but plenty of seating area.

Great cocktails, not cheap though

I'm not really a fan of the main bar area, but the beer garden is excellent and is probably the only reason I would go there (that and the Weihenstephaner on tap).

Rude staff and no pink gin will not be back ..

Great food. Good DJ. Staff too busy to look you in the eye though. Difficult to get service at the bar. Would go again when it's quiet perhaps.

Looking forward to Marc Donaghy playing there on the 19th of March so you know the music is going to be top notch.

Great spot to drop by for a drink or two. Nice heated outdoor area if you cant get inside. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Best bar in Glasgow! Not cheap but plenty of ambience and decent bar food too. Outdoor space has been improved with heaters and roofing now.

Numerous personal details to buy a pint? There are several equally as good if not better drinking establishments 2 minute's away that will not rudely demand your medical history to buy a drink. Days gone by.

Great wee bar with a huge amount of outdoor space. Can recommend their own brews, they're decent. Good food too.

Unwelcoming staff. No social distancing in place for multiple households give a table so small. Just left in the end and didn't order.

Disgraceful place- blaming people for things that have not happened- spent fortunes and not acknowledged- customer service???? Don’t know what it means!!

Hidden gem, great choice of bourbon, nice for drinks outside, friendly staff

Went to Chinaskis a few days ago. It was busy but the staff were still extremely attentive and warm. The drinks were amazing and the overall atmosphere was immaculate. 10/10 would go again.

Place has went right downhill. The managers are extremely rude and make you feel unwelcome.

Good food, helpful & attentive staff. Great facilities for outdoor drinking & eating, protected from any rainfall. Takes about 20 minutes to walk from Central Station. Would highly recommend.

Had a great lunch with my mum here, service was great - the staff could not of been more helpful. Ordered all our food and drinks through the website and it arrived to our table so fast!

Used to spend an inordinate amount of time in Chinaskis before moving to Canada 10 years ago. How much did we love it? We still talk about it all the time. We’ll be back one day. (We used to be in enough to be on chatty terms with one particular waitress and we feel bad we just left and never said goodbye).

Hadn’t been for a while, the only reason being it’s different end of town from where I normally meander. So glad we went back. The food was first class. We shared the prawns, pakora and focaccia and all starters were fresh and tasty. Followed by chicken satay and curries all washed down by good house red wine. Can’t wait to go back. Love the laid back atmosphere and the fact it’s a hidden gem.

El hombre detrás de la barra, con el cabello rubio teñido y corto, vertió una medida de vodka en un vaso alto, luego disparó tanta cocaína que el vaso se desbordó. Mi compañero dijo "seguramente cualquier vodka que haya desaparecido ahora" simplemente dijo "Na" y extendió la máquina de tarjetas para pagar mientras miraba alrededor de la barra. No podría haberle importado menos.Una chica detrás de la barra vio esto y vertió una medida de vodka nuevamente en el vaso en este punto, el hombre se había ido al frente de la barra para hablar con alguien.En el pedido faltaban otras dos bebidas. No los había hecho. La misma chica que volvió a servir el vodka lo llamó para que no hablara en el frente del bar y le preguntó si nos había cobrado por ellos. Él dijo que no y simplemente se alejó de nuevo.Entonces, para mí mismo dije "fu # k sake". (Tuve que editar eso para publicar esta reseña) Me sorprendió lo mal que era el servicio al cliente. Luego, la niña dijo "no tienes que maldecirnos". Le dije que no y que no, que había trabajado en un bar durante años y que nunca trataría a un cliente de esa manera. Luego dijo, una vez más, "no necesitas jurarnos" otra vez; Dije que no.Pagamos las dos bebidas y volvimos a nuestra mesa.Para mí, parecía que el barman había tomado más bebidas que nosotros y que la chica lo estaba cubriendo.No volveremos

Chinaski es mi "local" y simplemente no puedo decir suficientes cosas buenas, el ambiente es increíble, la calidad de la comida y las bebidas es exquisita y el servicio es insuperable. . Voy solo y con amigos y siempre he tenido el mejor momento. . Tómese el tiempo para probar este lugar, ¡no se sentirá decepcionado!

This is a very good bar. Decent music and excellent staff who are helpful, friendly and motivated. It is cool without being intimidating and hipster. There is no fuss about having an enjoyable evening. In summer, there is a terrace at the back for al fresco drinking.

¡Chinaskis fue difícil de encontrar pero valió la pena la caza! Es un pequeño restaurante encantador con un ambiente agradable, buen servicio y comida fabulosa. Las raciones son muy generosas y las comidas que pedimos estaban deliciosas. No puedo esperar para volver a visitarlo y lo recomiendo si desea comer o simplemente tomar una copa en el bar.

I enjoyed visiting Chinaskis when I visited Glasgow. Lovely atmosphere inside, ambient lighting, server was really nice and helpful. Food was delicious and they have a large array of when cocktail and whiskey choices. Highly recommended.

Great atmostphere.. lovely staff....great beer garden..good food..cool tunes...and a fine range of beverages...a must visit if u havent been before....take a break from the hussle and bustle.
