Top All you can eat place in Edinburgh! Great food and great staff!

Though it was a little on the pricey side, it was worth it. All the food was fresh and the place was very clean. The staff were friendly and very attentive. The overall vibe was perfect, dimmed lights created a more intimate setting as well as the harsh glare from bright lights were no longer a problem. If you are in the area China Red is definitely worth it.

A self-service buffet with a large choice of Chinese and sushi dishes. Welcoming staff explained how to serve ourselves. The Chinese starters and mains were excellent, but the deserts were poor, and mostly not chinese.

disgusting food, doesn’t worth the price. Choices are very limited for lunch, no seafood except for prawn. Drink is more than 4 pounds for each person. Nearly no fresh fruit, only canned fruit. At same price you can eat very well at other restaurants.

This buffet is not one of the best I tried. The food was not warm enough, usually dry and some typical food was missing such as nems, spring rolls, samosas, caramelized pork skewers, chinese raviolis and dumplings.

The best buffet I've ever been. From service to food quality , everything was more than impressive. I would highly recommend the place to everyone that loves good food and service combined with a clean and modern interior.

Myself and my partner visited this weekend while in Edinburgh and the service was second to none. The waitress was a lovely Northern Irish Lady, I'm sorry I can't remember her name. We were initially sat in the main dining area, she came over and asked if we wanted to move somewhere a little more intimate which we agreed to. She talked and chatted to us all night even suggesting food and taking the liberty to go up and get a spicy pork bun for me to try. It was my birthday eve and she made sure to make it special by bringing out a cookie on a plate with my name and a happy birthday message. Embarrassing yes, but so sweet too. She finished work part way through our visit and made the effort to come over to say goodbye and wish me a happy birthday again. She then went to other tables to do say goodnight and thank the customers. Her warmth and customer service are to be praised. I've been in Retail, Sales and Customer Service Management for almost 15 years and she was one of the best I've seen. Hats off to her. The food was also great but her service was what made me come on here to comment. Amazing. Thanks again.

Absolute gem of a place. Food was incredible, great variety and well laid out. Definitely give this place a go.

There are so many Chinese dishes to try, although they are not so authentic. They can make up for my lack of Chinese food.

Typically "all you can eat" you get what you pay for. The restaurant was full and the service was good. There is everything your heart desires. 3 soups, vegetable side dishes, noodles and rice in all variations. Meat from pork, beef, chicken... breaded, natural, in sauce or baked. There is also a salad buffet, dessert buffet and a corner for freshly fried fish. Between the two of us we paid 54 euros with 2 drinks. Price performance is okay, if you value quality and service, you're better off elsewhere and you'll pay almost twice as much.

Overall it's pretty good, the price has increased a bit in the past two years.

We visited yesterday and ended up with mild food poisoning. Me and my friends all felt ill with nausea and I was sick all night. It is absolutely unacceptable. I will never visit again.

An absolutely fantastic place for lunch with friends or family. There is something for everyone. Food delicious, beer available. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommended. 10/10

One of the best Chinese Restaurants with a great menu and an extremely excellent buffet service in the Edinburgh region and maybe even one of the best in England.

Found a lot of the dishes were at best lukewarm,and restaurant was cold judging by the number of diners with coats on including me and my wife

Love, love, love this place. Food top quality for a buffet. Every type you can think of. Sushi excellent, loads of starters from usual ribs, soup, prawn toasts etc. Chef will even cook fresh prawns and squid. Waffle boys for dessert huge hit too. Refillable soft drinks too so makes excellent value for money if you love to eat.

Never tasted food like it was disgusting. Food was tasteless, the curry sauce was like water and food was not hot. £50 wasted !!!

Absolutely fantastic place to eat.Food is fresh,with loads of variety and plentiful.Also the fresh- cooked seafood bar is amazing.I have been to several Chinese buffets,but this is the best one by far.Thoroughly recommend!!!

We visited on a Saturday at 6:30pm. The place was busy, with just a few empty tables. The food was all really well presented at the buffet table, and my two kids enjoyed trying various dishes. I particularly enjoyed the freshly cooked chicken, prepared right in front of me by a friendly chef. There appeared to be just one waitress looking after the entire restaurant, and despite being run off her feet, she was very friendly, although she did carry my bottle of beer to the table in her armpit, as her hands were full. We enjoyed the mousse desserts, which were rich and creamy. I think I paid £20.99 for myself, and £10.99 for each of the kids.

Broke students, don’t walk here, run. This is so scran and theres so many things. From popcorn to sushi to literally every kind of chicken. And it’s so cheap. It looks and tastes posh and theres even an ice cream bar. It’s too good to be true, but so far nothing bad has happened. Would sell my soul to eat here again 10/10

We visited lunchtime today and we had the best time. Our server was so friendly and competent without being overbearing. Empty plates were swiftly removed and the food was so full of flavour and fresh. We will definitely return next time we visit Edinburgh

As people who have read my reviews before will know me and my wife love a good all-you-can-eat Chinese. We were staying in Edinburgh and decided to visit China Red, near Edinburgh Castle. The service was awesome, Kelly our waitress was very attentive and we had no longer finished 1 plate then it was taken away. Although we were just drinking water once we'd finished 1 carafe it was replaced immediately without even having to ask. The food was fantastic but found it strange that all the lids of the servery containers were left open so the food got cold quicker. Despite this it was regularly replenished while we were there. The only thing I didn't give 5 stars was fact that a lot of the menu eg Dim Sum etc were on evenings only. I know it is usually standard at all you can eats but website didn't inform of this. In spite of this I would still highly recommend going and giving China Red a try if you're visiting Edinburgh

Very good as always, but noticed it was very quiet. Not a problem for us at lunchtime food plentiful and fresh. Prices increased.

When we first walked in we were greeted with smiles and gestures to our table. Throughout the night the food tasted amazing and a wide range to choose from and the desserts were just as good. But the main highlight was our waiter Kelly as it was my mother's 50th, Kelly made her day and the rest of the family's as well. She was such a joy to chat too and made our first experience the best. We will be back again to have another wonderful experience.

This is our first time in Edinburgh and were looking for a Chinese Buffet Style Restaurant, we found China Red and we were not disappointed. There's loads of choice of food all of which is amazing. The staff and service are brilliant. We'll come back to Edinburgh even if it only to come back here.

This restaurant has all the flavours and foods of Cosmo without the prices and crowding! There was a good selection and our waitress was very friendly, which always makes a meal feel extra special (we didn't get her name unfortunately). Would especially recommend the chicken and pork dishes!

Buffet style restaurant with a wide choice of food available. Generally good experience and tasty food. Pretty good value for money - more so if you have a huge appetite. Particularly liked the vegetable dishes. Would I go back? Probably not but the staff we great.

Visited on a Saturday night and had high hopes after reading the reviews. There was plenty of choice but the mini spring rolls, ribs, garlic bread and fried rice and curry sauce were all luke warm at best, the chips were cold and hard and not as much choice as other Chinese buffets we have visited. Not quite sure what the corn on the cob were lying in but it looked like milk🤮We were given 2 empty glasses when we asked for coke and had to ask again where got the drinks from. Each time we went up to the buffet leaving our empty plates on the table we came back and the were still lying on the table so we had to stack them up at the side. Dinner for 2 with 2 drinks was £51.48 and definitely not worth it.

I love China Red, but yesterday they went over and above, my Son was in Edinburgh for his 23rd Birthday, first a visit to Dynamic Earth then for lunch buffet at China Red, befor eating he had a rest out of his wheelchair, the he had chow mein, and tasted different puddings, he was so happy when the guys made it a lot more special bring out a plate with Happy Birthday in chocole sauce, a candle and a cake, they had Happy Birthday music on, and I think the whole place started singing Happy Birthday, his face tells it all, he was happy and surprised, thank you China Red we will be back, food choices amazing, clean, staff very happy and helpful, nothing to much for them A+++++(

Does what it says on the tin. Party of 6 and all happy 😊 with the selection of food available. Waitress Kelly was extremely busy and was very good with customers. It's VFM when you are in the mood for that type of eat. Amazing what you see. A kid eating an ice cream cone and trying to eat chips from a plate at the same time walking back to her table. Didn't work. Staff cleared up her mess.

Nice and cosy Chinese all you can eat buffet with lots of choices of food.

1 star to offset the rating because it is too high, service is almost excellent other than how often they refill the food. Other than that the food itself was super disappointing as I was excited to try this place out for the first time. foods are chewy and for example the sweet and sour sauce tastes very off and isn’t balanced enough. The staff almost make up for it but a satisfied stomach always beats good service.

Great restaurant, great location. Went here for something to eat, before a Deacon Blue concert. Plenty of choices, and good quality of food. Service was excellent, our waitress, who was from Ulster, was fantastically friendly, her interaction and banter was on our level of humour. An absolute credit to the restaurant, are are the rest of the staff.

I have eaten here on many occasions b'coz the food is very good, it is self-service and it is possible to eat as much as one can !!!

There are definitely better Chinese places in Edinburgh. The food (meat mostly) here is really salty, need-to-chug-down-1L-of-water-after-eating salty. The highlight for me was the braised beef and the vegan section. Not a fan of the interior design or the atmosphere either.

Went here Edinburgh back in January, and came here to eat, by far the best Chinese buffet I've ever been to. We loved it that much we came here on our last day. 10/10

Stunning restaurant. Welcoming staff. Food was hot which is not always the case at this type of restaurant. Excellent choice of food including salads, sushi and various puddings. A great little find!

Our family visited here once again and enjoyed the variety of food on display. The service was friendly but I have to say that the clearing of plates was particularly slow.

For those who are looking an “eat all you can” Chinese cuisine then this is the place to be. Really affordable and delicious. To be recommended especially after a long day of walking

Great choice of food, fresh made snacks just on spot, delicious chicken dishes and many msny more, very nice atmosphere and super friendly and helpful staff. A nice place for family dinner.

Having visited a few years ago we were disappointed on this occasion. Clearly they were understaffed and overwhelmed with the amount of people in when we arrived, but as those left there was no real change in the levels of food available. A number of dishes were either cleaned out or missing the key ingredient and not particularly hot. This used to be the go to buffet in Edinburgh with a great light display as you walked in, but even that has gone. They need more staff, the couple of people clearing plates etc were just rushing around trying to keep on top of things but being let down by the kitchen not getting more food out. Hopefully this was just a busy evening and it isn't normally like this, certainly our previous visits, albeit a few years ago, were great.

Love the food, so much variety and even have egg boy . They got everything I wanted. I would prefer this buffet than imperial Palace now as it is not even worth it in Imperial Palace. I even got a better service at China red than imperial Palace!

Great food again, we were looked after by the brilliant Irish lady(sorry didn’t get her name) what a woman!!!! Service and banter absolutely fantastic, will definitely be back, and will be asking for her area, a grand emerald jewel

A great selection of dishes, from sushi, curry dishes to live grill cooking, not to mention the waffles and the desserts buffet. Great value of money!

The staff were very efficient and friendly (although the drinks order took a while but we went on saturday night so realise it's busy). The food was alright, pretty much like your standard Chinese takeaway to be honest, though the quality wasn't bad. It just wasn't that "interesting" and I found some of the food quite greasy. Standouts good dishes were the freshly made omelettes and the seafood on the teppanyaki grill, also the duck was nice and chunky. My partner also really enjoyed the garlic mushrooms and egg foo yung. Atmosphere was fine -- nothing much to comment on it. Overall: if you're mega hungry and want some takeaway-style dishes, go for it. However, I'd personally prefer to go order just a couple of dishes from a really great Chinese restaurant (admittedly there aren't many in Edinburgh). I think this is also a good option if you have a group who like different things, as there's a fair amount of choice. Seems good for kids too, as they have quite a few kid friendly options, especially desserts.

coach party arrived hardly any food left staff just walking around not filling up dishes , no seasoning in food what we could find and was cold , has soon has we arrived a member of staff hovering over us what you want to deink we not even sat down, if your going to accept coach partys at least have food ready or prepped for other people , we sat at table 27 one member of staff was wipeing down where food spills were from buffet area and put in the samosa the dirt from her cleaning tin at 13.33 this is disgusting if i get ill ill sue you
