Spring rolls are amazing prawn toast is the best prawn toast I've ever had but the crispy shredded beef was awful

Why is it saying its open when it's closed they need to update this

It's hit and miss in my opinion. Sometimes very greasey chowmein. Some nice stuff too tho to be fair

Visited here over new year when staying for a holiday and not liking the menu at the local pubs. There’s nothing that I could fault with my salt and pepper chips or sweet and sour chicken, and therefore giving it a 5* rating.

Finally tried this place as a treat to celebrate starting the Xmas leave. Sorry to say the food was barely average at best, in both taste and texture. It really didn’t seem good to be quality ingredients, so much so that we both abandoned our mains as ‘not worth the calories’

Simply the least tasty kung po chicken EVER, purchased with rice and other dishes all rubbish. Avoid this place hope you don't like real Chinese food in Machynlleth and have no other alternative to this place.

Highly recommended. Food was amazing and the owners so kind and helpful.

By far the best tasting Chinese in our area! We’ve been to them all, including our home town Tywyn and I would absolutely, hands down, travel the 50 minute round trip every time to buy from The China Garden and we’ve been here 30+ times! Always tasty, always still hot despite the travelling, good quality chicken and other ingredients .. surprisingly still good value for money considering the current climate. Chicken chow mein and the garlic chicken and onions is just super yummy. If you’re visiting, you seriously won’t find a better Chinese takeaway for an hours drive around .. I only scored half for atmosphere because it’s just a takeaway and honestly, lacks in atmosphere but the staff are always so friendly and serve with a smile

I was very surprised by the quality given the poor star rating. Vegetables in black bean sauce were really good. Sauce was very passable, very well seasoned, and good consistency. Rice was well cooked and flavoured. Pork fried rice was good, too. Load of spring rolls in each portion. Can recommend

Very good freindly service, easy to order and a short waiting time, well cooked traditional Chinese take away. Travelled 16 miles to purchase as no local takeaway available, returned 3 times during our stay, food piping hot after approx 17 minute journey, lots of visitors return regularly when on holiday. Only drawback cash only but free cash machin in the Spa supermarket opposite.

Dont waste your money, food less than average, some tasteless. Staff were pleasant enough, took 20 minutes Won't revisit while we are here.

Ordered duck fried rice and curry sauce, woke in the night sick as a dog, all i had eaten that day was breakfast at home. So pretty sure it was the food from here. NEVER AGAIN

This was our first time using this takeaway. Prices average. They were helpful about adaptations, polite, and very swift in preparation. Food was still piping when we got home. While the quality of all the dishes: sesame prawn toast, chicken chow mien and king prawn fried rice, was pretty good, they were spoiled by over-salting. Another time we'd request 'no added salt please!'

Unable to get large order correct. Dishes missing and 1 of the meals had long black hair in the middle therefore would avoid.

Very good. Beef in black bean sauce and sweet and sour chicken particularly good. Excellent prawn crackers. Lovely and hot after a 15 minute drive. Cash only caught us out, wish they had said when we ordered.

Ordered at 6-55 on Saturday evening, we were told 15 minutes, food was ready well within the time, we drove home, which took about 15 minutes, did a quick temperature check of the food - both mains were still above 80°C so still piping hot. Beef with ginger and onions was great, beef tender and plenty of flavours in the food. Chicken Szechuan was also excellent, good size chunks of chicken, very good sauce, both plain and egg fried rice were hot and good. Portion sizes were generous. Overall excellent value, great tasty food and quick service, thank you

Had to throw most of the meal away as it was very salty.

To me it's the best one in mid Wales I've never had a bad food there the sweet chilli shredded chicken is great and the Curry's it's easier to say it's all good food

Worst Chinese take away we’ve ever had. Egg fried rice had an odd sour taste to it. Duck in plum sauce...where is the plum? Soggy duck pieces in what looked and tasted like thickened gloopy water! Nothing like plum sauce at all. Chicken balls not quite cooked properly and prawn crackers that tasted of old oil. Avoid...not worth the waste of money .

Was apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but I have to say I really enjoyed the food from here. The shredded roast duck was prefect and the egg fired rice was delicious! Singapore fried rice was also very nice - would recommend and will be returning regularly :-)

Nice food, but only Accepted cash, in this day and age with covid

First time ordering food from this takeaway and sadly will be the last. Ordered chicken curry and mixed meat chow mein. The curry was a very strange pink/orange colour and tasteless and the chow mein had very small strips of some kind of meat and noodles that were over cooked. Will not be going back

Opens 5pm, phone order at 5pm order ready 15mins, Turn up pick it up drive home literally 5mins drive, Get home, chips are stone cold and limp, looks like been in bag since 4pm, certainly not cooked at 5pm Sweet and sour sauce was barley warm, Chicken batter was soggy and batter in side was not cooked inside, chicken was like rubber, Spare ribs in bbq sauce was not hot either. Other dish was certainly not hot but warmer than rest of meals, I dont think any of it was cooked to ordered think it was all left overs from night before, Hygiene standatds is to keep food abobe 63c And cook is aroubd 84c think it slightly lower in wales, £26.?? I paid for a complete horrible cold takeaway, Which then i had to reheat up to eat, Which is not good enough YOU WANT TO CHECK YOUR TEMPERATURE!!

Couldn;t be bothered to cook, & a Chinese five minutes from the fron door. No Brainer, Had an excellent Chicken Curry, & Sister has a Chow Mein, which she also found very tasty. Yes we will recommend to travellers

Been there a few times and had no issues. Today unfortunately we had to share a rice portion as the fried rice was missing. Food ok and didn't have to wait too long.

Delicious and not expensive. I tried the Singapore fried rice, it was very tasty.

We ordered enough food for 5 people and unfortunately two people were left with no food. We ordered mushroom fried rice without any egg thinking this would a quite simple ask, however we were told this was not possible because “egg goes in everything”. We ordered plain rice instead. When we got home we had one dish completely missing and another dish which was a vegetable curry had chicken in it that one person couldn’t eat as they are vegan. Left disappointed. We paid full price for simple Chinese food and got left with half an order.

Good place to buy food for lazy Sundays. The food is not that good, very oily and sometimes overcooked. But they are the fastest at preparing food, I give then that.

Collected a takeaway recently from China Garden. The food ordered was average and when asked if a dish could be adapted due to food intolerances, the request was refused. The food was hot but was flavourless. Wasnt impressed and wont be ordering again from this takeaway.

This is also in regards to the Kebab House Saturday night both close before 11pm. Do they know what the point of takeaways are for many, it' for those who are finishing work late, coming off a late train, or out on the lash. But this closes at a time which is when it's most wanted. Find any town anywhere & it's the Chinese/Kebab/indian that are the busiest establishment at kicking out time.

Terrible service, the woman can't speak English /doesn't care - asked whether the noodles had eggs in and she said no. I got them home and they were egg noodles. Avoid!

All ways het the same quality every time, won't ssybits the best in the world but we have eaten hear 50 + and never had a issue. As Chineese takeaways go it's one of the best in the area. It is only has a small waiting area wich can fill up rather quick. But I normally do a phone order and there fairly precise with there timings. Will visit again.

We drove here from Aberdyfi, the food was very good. It was still hot when we got back to the caravan. The BBQ spare ribs were some of the best I have had, the chow mein was a little oily but very tasty. Sweet and sour chicken was pretty good also. They do not take card however there is a show over the road which has a free to use cash machine.

Apart from one dish (which had the wrong sauce) everything was accurate. Food was good, chow mein was a little greasy but tasted good. Ribs were very good, not too fatty.

Limited vegetarian option. No tofu dishes.

Great Chinese food at a good price, would go again

Passing through tonight phoned order through picked it up got to the hotel completely wrong food how hard can it be third time there definitely no more total s***t

The shop was clean, the young lady taking orders was very polite and helpful.I ordered my standard fare in Chinese takeaways of Beef curry and chips ( not very chinese I know, but I am a creature of habit). It was my first visit to this takeaway, and I am sorry to say, my last.Very poor curry, very poor chips.

Food we have ordered tonight was tasteless, very greasy and we will never use this chinese again! Completely ruined our evening.

One of our walking group got a takeaway veg curry and rice from here when we stayed in Machynlleth over Easter. He said it was terrible and gave it 1 out of 10. He has travelled extensively in the Far East so I think he probably knows what he's talking about!

They have yet to get an order right! Their food is well below average and our family only use them when absolutely necessary. Great chinese in newtown but 35 mins away for us. Please look at where you're going so wrong! We always hope things will get better, but they seem to be getting worse

Not put off by the reviews we ordered ahead on our way through Mach. Great service, lovely food. It's never the same as what you are used to but we will use again!

This is my local Chinese takeaway and I don't use it that regularly, just when you're fed up with the other options and in the vain hope that it might be better than last time. Unfortunately so far it has never excceded expectations. The visit last night was just for two meals: one mixed vegetable chow mein & chips and one chicken maryland. Simple dishes not too much to go wrong you would think. The Chow mein is slimy and tastes oily ( it always does) and the chips were dry almost powdery. The Chicken Maryland was shocking, two breadcrumb fillets almosr cremated more dry chips, a rasher of nearly raw bacon and a sausage of dubious quality which I think woul have bounced if dropped. Under all that a token amount of pineapple junks and a tiny portion of peas. Front of house service was good but thats no good when the food is so poor. I was surprised to see other reviews saying that they had good meals but I have to speak as I find and as a fairly regular user (not any more) have to say that in my opinion this is one of the worst takeaways I have used.

We had a meal from there on a Wednesday evening, there were six adults and we were staying in a cottage just outside Aberdovey and we took notice of the previous reviews and ignored the curried dishes.

We are spending the week near here on holiday. Firstly decided we would like a Chinese takeaway on a Tuesday night, drove 25 minute journey into town from our holiday cottage only to find it shut despite notice on door showing opening times stating it should be open.

Was quite hesitant about using this takeaway given some other grim reviews on various web-sites, but was completely content with the taste, portion sizes and variety. No idea what others are whinging about, it's a perfectly good takeaway.

Truly disgustng. Ive never eaten such tasteless, chewy badly made chinese food! Avoid like the plague...infact eat the plague it might have more flavour. Yuck yuck yuck

Food performed function of making us full, however by no means anything "good". Had a meal for three which had generous enough portions but generally didn't stimjlate much at all

Had an evening takeaway from this Chinese establishment, as we where all 'too lazy to cook', It arrived, on our collection, hot, the food was tasty, & no doubt we will have another takeaway from here next time I visit.

The curry is a weird and glowing colour - the beef szechuan was bearable but the beef just had a really odd texture. Not good.

Having eaten here once and found it dissapointing. Thought we would try it again. Ordered chicken curry. You can't go wrong with that can you? Yes, you can. It was awful. It tasted like spicy tomato soup with lumps of faux chicken. Truly dreadful. Such a shame as it is the only one for us for miles but would not try it again.

The girl that took our phone order was pleasent and friendly. When we sat to eat the food was piping hot. Generous portion sizes (plenty of meat) If we were in the area again we would definitely visit again

This is the only chinese takeaway for many miles so it is extremely popular especially at weekends. Over the years we have enjoyed our food which has been of a good quality. However, due to the number of people placing orders, the service can be very slow.
