Went here for a works do 16 of us, the staff were amazing, couldn't do enough for us, food very tasty. I would highly recommend

First review I ever ever done but I feel this is well deserved . Our of Family of 3 went in and got a very warm welcome and taken to our table . Great waiter/waitress service.food came out and looked good and well presented in a dried noodle bowl and on plates.but when I tasted my food I can honestly say it is by far THE BEST CHINESE RESTAURANT I have ever eaten in so much so that I probably won't eat a Chinese meal again untill I'm back in Glasgow next October .I meet the chef and gave him my compliment lovely man and him nd waiter started chatting to us about ireland 🇮🇪 as we are irish. Top class food top class service .I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

My partner and I visited for the first time yesterday, we were very happy with the service received and quality of the food served. Lovely warm welcome, and nice atmosphere. Small touches we liked were real linen napkins and nice wine glasses. Food was delicious,well presented and we'll definitely be back. Would definitely recommend.

Delicious authentic Chinese cuisine and reasonably priced too. Huge selection of dishes to choose from. Highly recommend.

Been coming to China Blue for a long, long time, with the missus, family and friends. I've never had a bad meal or experience in the place. I'm not an adventurous eater(I know what I like and happy with that, usually), but I can honestly say this is probably the only place where I'll voluntarily order something I've never tasted before. Staff are attentive and pleasant without being intrusive. Only a couple of gripes, it's not open later and a bit cold sometimes (but not uncomfortably so). The food is stunning!

My personal favourite in Glasgow city centre. The chow mein is the best in Glasgow!!

Absolute madness. Phoned for a takeaway, 1 curry with fried rice - shop wanted £20.20. Never have I seen a takeaway anywhere expecting £20 for 1 chicken curry with rice.

First time trying this restaurant and the food was delicious bursting with flavour! The staff were also very warm and welcoming.

We got Char siu fried rice, chow mein beef and hot and sour soup. All meat is well cooked!!! Flavoursome!!! Will definitely come back.

Chinese New Year dinner like no others As Chinese New Year approaches, we eagerly anticipated a memorable reunion dinner at China Blue as we had a magical reunion dinner here last year. The restaurant did not disappoint, delivering an exceptional Chinese New Year feast that will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

I must say, they have a strict policy against bringing your own drinks. As for the dining experience, the food is delightful, but the ambiance leaves much to be desired. The floorboards are rather creaky, and even a passerby can make your table feel like a mini earthquake.

Egg Fried rice was nice and the spicy chicken (honey and chilli) was very good too. The curry sauce however was dreadful. Had a weird smokey BBQ taste and was very watery. Possibly the worst curry sauce I've ever had. Ended up eating the rice dry; lucking it was high quality enough to stand alone. Wait for takeaway was long. Ordered 12 mins in advance and still ended up waiting 15 mins. They also don't have a dedicated waiting area and seem to be more of a sit down restaurant. This resulted in me waiting at a table in the dining area which was awkward for me and probably the dinners and staff. Also to access requires walking up several flights of stairs so it is not wheelchair accessible at all. Last thing, I found the man who answered my phone call a bit rude and short. Not great overall.

Very reasonably priced theatre menu, good night out with friends

China blue offers some of the best Chinese cuisine you could find in Merchant City. It has a warm and cozy atmosphere, which led us to visit the restaurant regularly after our frisbee session. My personal favourite is the silver needle noodles or LauShuFen in Mandarin, a rather traditional dish which I would assume is the only restaurant that would serve it in Glasgow. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for some authentic Chinese cuisine in Glasgow city centre.

Working in Glasgow we visited blue china and I can honestly say it was brilliant we didn’t book a table and when we walked in didn’t think we would get a table was very busy!! But the staff couldn’t do enough and soon had us sat down the meal was perfect hot very tasty and fresh will def go back when ever we return thanks blue china 🙏👍🏻

The staff were so helpful in making my choice of food. It was delicious and I would certainly recommend coming here. Authentic food well cooked and presented. Fabulous staff. Don’t change a thing it’s perfect.

Was here for dinner with relatives on a Sunday evening. Not the most fancy atmosphere, but appeared cleanish. Food wise, so far this is one of the best in the city centre and I can't believe I've gone past it so many times without giving the place a thought, the entrance is so unassuming. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, you do need to climb a flight of stairs to reach the place. Would recommend the Tofu with Chinese Leaf & Glass Noodles (146), which they apparently use their own egg tofu. The sauce for the Mixed Vegetables with Malaysian Curry (224) was out-of-this-world, but I wasn't much of a fan with the vegetables used (my relatives liked them though). We did find the side portion of stir fried noodles far too salty, though this was the only downfall for the food. They did get one of our orders wrong (despite naming it and pointing it at the menu when ordering) and later claimed not to be in a position to correct it. Whatever arrived looked nice and a lot cheaper so we just let it go. Service was friendly, helpful, but a little clumsy.

Best Chinese food I've had for a long time. If the locals eat there it must be good. A big thumbs up. Will be back.

Hidden gem of a restaurant, entrance looks a bit shabby however restaurant is spotlessly clean, staff are very welcoming and nothing is a bother. This is our 4th time eating here and have absolutely no complaints, will definately return.

Had a lovely lunch with my sister , food was pretty good and decent size portions . Didn't have any cranberry juice ( my fav ) and a bottle of water was 3 quid , charges may reflect it's located in the city centre we would definitely go back

We faccied some Chinese food after a day out in the city so we Googled for restaurants near our hotel and China Blue was one of the search results. Having read some of the reviews we decided to book a table, we opted for the pre-theatre menu as it looked like good value. On arrival it is just a doorway on the street and then stairs up into the restaurant. The restaurant is certainly not fancy so if you like a bit of luxury then it's probably not the place for you. We were welcomed and shown to our table, we ordered drinks and perused the menu. I asked if there were onions in a particular dish but was told I could have the dish exactly as I wanted and it wouldn't be a problem. The food was absolutely sensational, the quantity and quality of the chicken in my dish was just superb. The staff were excellent, friendly, welcoming and attentive. Many of the reviews we read said that this place is a hidden gem and that's exactly what it is. Quite probably the best Chinese food my wife and I have enjoyed and we will definitely make a point of returning some time in the future. Thanks for the experience.

This place is amazing we have been so many times with our family and just as a couple staff so friendly and nothing is a bother had a great meal for 2 last nite would defo recommend this place a hidden gem some staff been the same for years so that is also a good.

Friendly staff. Setting is ok. Food could be better, starter was quite scabby lots of onions & barely any chicken. Beef dish I felt the meat could have been cooked longer.

What a wonderful restaurant. Excellent food, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Music was easy listening Jazz and non intrusive. I had the spicy pork with boiled rice and my partner had the pork noodle soup. Safe to say we will definitely return as there was so many things on the menu we both wanted to try.

This is a superb chinese cuisine dining experience.From the moment you arrive,you are ushered to your table by attentive, friendly staff.The menu is huge with many authentic ethnic dishes .There is a huge seafood choice but there is something for everyone. We just had to have the obligatory Prawn crackers, warm and crispy as they should be.The perfect starter for the tastebuds.Tonight, we had the works. Fish, chicken, beef, vegetables, fried and boiled rice.Every dish was perfection.Please see photographs. At 96 Renfield St, China Blue is easy to pass by as there is just a single door on the street but a short ,unchallenging walk upstairs takes you to a huge restaurant space , the decor of which is exactly what a chinese restaurant should be. It is comfortable,classy and welcoming.Dining here will be a guaranteed rewarding experience perfect for any special occasion.

Es un restaurante chino tradicional de Glasgow. La comida es sencilla pero muy buena (el mejor Satay que he tenido en mucho tiempo). El servicio fue amigable y eficiente. Con un menú previo al teatro que cuesta menos de 13 años, también tiene una muy buena relación calidad-precio; volveremos.

No he salido a comer comida china durante mucho tiempo y creo que ha pasado más de un año desde que comí aquí. Creo que la nueva decoración es preciosa y la comida sigue siendo estupenda. Tuve la carne con curry malasio, que estaba muy sabroso. Definitivamente no esperaré tanto hasta que regrese.

Ordered food and it arrived with rice missing. Phoned and they said I could get extra rice next time which wasn't much use. Then said they would arrange refund. This was 2 weeks ago and has not happened.

This restaurant is very handy for central Glasgow. It is upstairs. Service is very attentive,food is tasty and good value-ideal venue after visiting the cinema.

Visited this restaurant when we got lost looking for another. Sometimes fate leads you to where you should be and this was one of those times that fate came up trumps. We both thoroughly enjoyed our duck and our mains were very good. We’re back in Glasgow next week, let’s hope we can find it again!

I travel up to Glasgow from Yorkshire for work and I always visit here. I stumbled across it and am so glad I did. I’ve dined here several times and never had a bad experience. Last night I had pork dumplings and salt and pepper chicken followed by Malaysian chicken curry with rice. Each dish as always was fresh, tasty and nothing was left. My go to Cantonese when in the city. Will not disappoint.

visited here ordered chicken noodle soup and char sui fried rice.soup was lukewarm,had 2 thin strips of chicken and was tasteless.on to char sui which was dry and hard and I left more than half of it.i was there from 12am till 12.45 on a Friday and was the only customer sitting in a cold restaurant with 2 waitresses,says it all.

Three of us visited early evening just before New Year, the place was packed out! Good job we had booked. The thing we like most is the traditional feel and food of China Blue. Great service, really tasty food great atmosphere what else do you need, obviously we’ll be returning!

I recently visited China Blue for the first time and was very impressed with the service, food and prices. The staff are very welcoming and were very attentive throughout our meal. The lunch menu has a limited number of dishes available, we had no problems selecting a dish from the menu, there is something for everyone's taste. A indication of how good the restaurant is, was the number of diners from the local Chinese community. The portions were ample and the food tasted delicious, we will definitely return to China Blue on our next visit to Glasgow.

Not hugely attractive entrance, and could do with an internal upgrade. Friendly staff and while food came quickly, we were asked if we wanted a break between courses. Very acceptable pre theatre menu, good value. Average food, I have had better, but also much worse in supposedly smart restaurants. It emptied very quickly just after 7pm.

Friendly staff, amazing starters taste and aesthetically - crab was one of the best I’ve had and was plentiful, mains were great, it is not the cheapest place but the quality of food and service makes it definitely worth it.

Wonderful Chinese restaurant. It doesnt look much from outside, but boy is it great inside. Hot fresh food that is so tasty. I had a Chicken with ginger disg with shavings of ginger rather than the usual matchsticks. It was brilliant. Cant wait to go again.

We were staying in central Glasgow at the Grand Central and fancied and Chinese meal. Having checked the T/A reviews, we opted for the China Blue.

Called in fairly early, although still quite a few tables filled seemed to be very popular. It's up some stairs and the venue itself is tastefully decorated and clean. Staff were efficient and friendly food was good and plentiful . Mixed platter was tasty and the thousand chili lamb certainly had bite, ended up taking most of one of the mains home with us we were struggling to finish.

Went here with hubby daughter and son in law before theatre it was beautiful great service and food was lovely will be back

We come to this restaurant regular and we came last nite for my sons 21st. Food lovely could not fault it and as a special touch they gave my son a small cake desert nice touch. So reasonable the best chinese.

This restraunt is a little hidden gem. The staff are excellent and so helpful. The food is great and good value for money.

The food here is really good and something different than typical Chinese food. The fusion of Malaysian and Chinese is a great combo with the typical heat and cool flavors of both types of food.

This is one of best kept secrets ever! Now the entrance and stairs could do with a bit of Vim and a good wash but this was soon forgotten by the genuine friendly smile of the waitress. It was 6.55 on a Saturday night and possibly too late for the pre theatre but no, the menus were lying on the table. I hate when you know there is an offer on but they don't tell your( hope you hear that Pizza Express). The pre theatre❔was basic but good was excellent. About 50% of those eating were Chinese or Malay which was a good sign. We had stumbled(literally) over this after a few glasses a few weeks ago and the food was excellent. It was still very good for£12.50 but there were some really interesting specials in the board that I'd love to have tried. Service was impeccable and a real family feel to this restaurant. Mum and dad( we assume) seemed to be really proud when we said the food was good. Toilets could do with a bit of a refurb but clean. Next time we'll come with some friends so we can try what their eating too.

Place has a nice atmosphere, but it's only surface, don't be deceived. Waitress, probably daughter of the proprietor was extremely childish, giggling throughout taking my family's order. Acceptable for a cheap joint, but not when you're paying over ten pounds a dish for base-Chinese food.

Me and my wife went for a dinner. This place was recommended by a friend. Wow amazing food. Delicious food. The service was good and fast. Would definitely recommend. One downside is there is no access for disabled person.

Four of us went out for a family meal, early evening, on Hogmanay. I’d eaten three times previously at China Blue, on my own, from the lunch and pre-theatre menu, but this time it was a la Carte. China Blue is a plain restaurant but has great charm. The staff are great and the food is delicious.

We have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions when in Glasgow for a concert or show and have always enjoyed the food and friendly service. We were in Glasgow on Friday 14th December for the Paul McCartney concert and arrived at the restaurant (without a booking) for a pre concert dinner, they were extremely busy, but accomodated us and apologised in advance that service might be slow as they were busy, no such thing guys, the service and food were as good as ever, we enjoyed our meal and got to the concert in plenty of time. I love chinese food and have visited china blue a few times before when down in glasgow for the football. We hadn't made a booking and when we arrived they said that they could give us a table but the food could take about 30 minutes as they were very busy on a saturday night. We decided to stay and were glad we did. The food took less than 30 minutes and when it arrived all 4 of us enjoyed it so much. The food was really fantastic - very, very tasty and served piping hot.

This is probably the best Chinese restaurant in Glasgow city centre. This was my second visit and I wasn’t disappointed. Our meals were so good that my friend and I shared each others food. Fresh tasty food, friendly staff and reasonably priced what more could you ask for.

Having booked a table, our order was taken and we were told there would be a slight delay as 2 of the 5 cookers werent working. Little did we know. An hour after our order was taken and after several apologies and claims our starter was just coming, we walked out. Little food seemed to be coming out of the kitchen yet more and more people were being sat at tables. We accept things go wrong but you should have just closed for the night or restricted the number of tables to what the kitchen could cope with. It has left a sour taste as we have been seversl times and we are now not sure if we will be back. At least you had the decency not to charge for the drinks and prawn crackers.

A very tasty lunch in a restaurant that we nearly walked by the entrance, but so glad we didn’t.

We organised a meal at this Restaurant for 8 people before going to a show. Nothing was a bother to the Staff. We were seated at a large round table in a relaxed atmosphere. . We had an excellent meal with absolutely great food including four bottles of wine and spirits which was severed by lovely friendly staff .The bill for all that was excellent value The menu had a great choice of wonderful food served with good helpings of noodles and rice which was hard to finish although we made a good effort.

We went here for my son’s 11th birthday. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was fantastic. We brought a cake and the staff kindly brought it out for us. The food was fantastic. I would recommend this restaurant.

I was out in the city centre to see a band and fancied a quick Chinese meal before heading home. There are a few upscale Chinese restaurants in this vicinity but, being a solo diner, I wanted somewhere a bit more straightforward and anonymous. I’d noticed China Blue before: single door on street level, so headed upstairs.

Excellent food, and a really comprehensive menu. Most people dining were Chinese which is generally a good indicator for a Chinese restaurant, couldn't fault it !

The food is cooked good but the waiting time is so long that we couldn't stand it. Hope this can be improved.

We both like Chinese food. This has to be one of the best we have been to. It says everything when the majority of people dining were Chinese. Could not find fault with anything.
