It's impossible for me to understand how food can be so bad from a professional kitchen in a chain restaurant with standardised dishes and ingredients.

Was looking for some Mexican food with a friend, we ended up here tempted by the lunchtime deals. Firstly they have two different deals, so you can't mix and match they have to be specific to the order. The food itself was served with a level of boredom by the staff, and was pretty much boring too. It served a purpose in that it filled us up with a starter and a main (Chicken burrito) for a reasonable price. Don't think I will bother to use the chain again.

It's sad how some things at the start of a meal can ruin the experience somewhat. When Pepsi is the only fizzy drink without artificial sweeteners they have and they've ran out it's not a good start. When they're also out of stock of blackcurrant squash that was on the menu, it's not a good start. When the kids are given a pot of crayons to colour with but they're all blunt it shows a lack of real care and attention by staff who are just going through the motions. When they serve your 18 month old daughter her water in a tall glass with ice, it shows a lack of common sense.

The food is great and the portions are generous while retaining quality. If you go for lunch and dinner meals you get more value for your money as you save on your order if you were to order them individually. The sauces are kept to a minimum or are served on the side. At times restaurants drown their food in sauces which tend to hid the food's shortcomings. The fact that their food was not smothered in sauce shows that they are not afraid of showing off their food. Indeed, the food was good!

Served cold food, had to wait for it to be re cooked. It was OK. Went to the ‘ladies’ almost fell on the floor. Loo seat completely loose. Told waitress, not her problem obviously - but did anyone give a hoot? No they did not. So with plenty of other restaurants in that area ... we will not return to Chimichanga! Neither would we recommend the experience.

Had lunch here at the weekend, a treat lunch for my son and family! Couldn’t decide which eatery to go to around this area as there are so many tempting choices! Finally decided on Chimichangas! It was relatively quiet for a Sunday lunchtime, and we were shown to a comfy window seat facing the street outside. Our waiter was friendly, but upon the 4th time of asking if we were ready to order we were getting a tad annoyed! We’d only been seated 5 mins! No time to chill and properly look over the menu! We ordered the Humus starter and the Tortillas with extra Chicken, which was tasty! For the mains we had chicken and bacon stacks. The chicken wasn’t stacked but placed on the plate! Again tasty, just wish they wouldn’t maybe place meals on the grease proof paper as it ends up soggy! doesn’t look good picking that out your mouth! All in all an average meal, tad pricey for the mains price. Won’t be going again to this branch, felt uncomfortably pressured to order, we’ve come for a chilled meal but it felt like... ‘get them in, get them out!

Visited last night with a friend, not a particularly busy time at all. We sat down but no-one came to take our drinks order (or food) for a good quarter of an hour. When the food did arrive it was incredibly disappointing- I had the burrito and the portion was very small, I left hungry. Not what you expect for £12.50. There was very little flavour and it wasn't served particularly warm! When I enquired what was in a vegetarian burrito the server didn't seem to know. My friend ordered a cocktail that seemed thrown together, it wasn't mixed at all. Felt like we were largely ignored by staff until it came to paying and then they were all over us.

The wall behind the bar brims with Mexican beer, tequila and sparkly sombreros to engender taste of what's to come. Spicy dishes from a menu more interesting then some similar chains. All in all a very well presented restaurant. Our friendly waitress served us our chicken wings and potato skin starters which wet down well. The Mexican sandwiches quesadillas with Cajun chicken came in a variety of spice levels. Bottles of chilli sauce also in different strengths are on each table for you to spice up your meals to your taste. The Mexican paella was a tasty treat lots of prawns and chorizo and a good size portion. The cokes were served in chilled glasses from the freezer. A nice touch. A starter mains and drink are going to cost you about £20-25 a head. There are lunchtime set menu options 2 courses under a tenner. Expect 10% to be added for service if there's 7 or more of you we were happy to tip. For a tasty Mexican inspired meal with a little difference I recommend you give them a try. Enjoy!

Myself and my partner came here on a date night after a long afternoon/evening shopping. Upon arrival, there was a good atmosphere about the place, it was like we'd just walked into a restaurant in the middle of cancun! We decided that a couple of cocktails would be nice and ordered a Pina colada and a mojito, which were both very good, and would have been very satisfied if we'd just bought them from a bar that specifically sells cocktails. We then had a 'share' pulled pork nachos to start, which came as a huge portion that still got demolished! The mains were equally as tasty, we decided to have chicken enchiladas. All in all of highly recommend visiting chimichanga!

The restaurant was clean and jolly. The staff were friendly. The manager tried his very best.BUT...the food was absolutely vile. The nachos were burnt and the toppings became increasingly congealed once the effects of the microwave wore off. The fajitas were about as inspiring as a rainy day in a dockyard. The meat was like an old boot and my teeth were no match for its sinewy toughness. The manager saved the day with his level approach to our concerns and that is the best I can say about this restaurant.I will never return to Chimichanga.

The place had a fab atmosphere and all the staff were really friendly and helpful with superb service. I would have given the top rating but didn't as I thought the price was too high for a lunch time coming in at over £50 for just 2 people and neither of us were drinking and we actually shared a dessert. Was a lovely lunch but based on the price I probably won't go again as there are other places nearby who offer better deals at lunchtime.... Shame as the food was really good!

I went here on Saturday with my girlfriend as was pleasantly surprised by the amazing decor in the restaurant and the cool Parton American music which played out of the speakers. The food was delicious, me and my girlfriend both went for the Mexican food as we thought it sounded more appetising and extravagant than the Texan options. The sauces on each table range from The Mild One to The Hot One and The Hotter One, they were all hot anyway but varies in degrees of hotness. The staff were very friendly and attentive, offering quality services with short waiting times. I went for dinner & drinks with 3 friends here last night. The cocktails were okay and not too expensive. The staff were friendly enough, with the service being fast and efficient - although it was later in the evening and not peak time. The restaurant itself is clean but unfortunate that's really where the positive comments end. For our starters, which we all shared, we had the Nachos for one (with jack cheese, salsa, jalapenos, guacamole & sour cream with additional pulled pork) - these were disappointing; they looked slightly burnt, with the toppings being very sparse and not 'fully-loaded' like the delicious ones at Byron Burgers next door! We had the Tex-Mex Combo (bacon & cheese potato skins, jalapeño bullets, spring rolls, calamares & wings with chilli sauce served with chipotle mayo, sour cream & chive dip) - everything tasted okay but I felt it was overpriced at £12.95. We also had the Buffalo Blasts (battered chicken pieces in a buffalo sauce, with blue cheese dip, celery & carrot sticks), which were also fine but not a decent sized portion if you were choosing this as a starter for one. For my main, I had the Quesadilla, which was filling but for all the wrong reasons - too much tortilla and not enough of the Cajun chicken inside (this was very sparse). I would have liked more of the spicy rice too. Instead, I was full because of the tortilla, which made this seem stodgy. Two of the girls had the Enchiladas - again, the fillings were sparse - and one of the girls had the Baby Back Ribs, which appeared to be mainly bone and very little else. Overpriced at £16.95. I don't mind paying a little bit more for good food, but Chimichanga is overpriced given the quality of the food. I wouldn't visit again, I'm afraid.

We came here for some lunch with our little boy who is 2 years old, when we first sat down we were asked if we would like some bread to eat whilst we mulled over the menu which we agreed to. The cost of said bread was £3.50 and was disappointing to say the least as it was burnt and that was the only flavour I was getting... For £3.50 you would at least expect it not to be burnt? Next we had Nachos for one which we shared and my little boy had nachos with cheese - cant complain about the nachos because they were delicious and if I ever came here again I would definitely order these again! Then the mains came - my husband order was an enchilada which he wasn't very impressed with and upset his stomach within minutes of eating it. I ordered some chicken fajitas which were okay but for how much you are paying to be honest you expect the food to be a little better than okay. My little boys main was the children's paella and when it came he dove straight in then burst into tears telling me it was spicy, I then tried it and it was the spiciest thing we had ordered whilst being there. I don't really understand why something on a children's menu is that spicy and it had absolutely no mention of having any heat whatsoever on the menu?! The waitress who was serving us was brilliant to her credit came straight over to see what was wrong as our little boy was so upset, I just asked her if it was suppose to be spicy and there was absolutely no way in hell he could eat that. She took away his dish and got something else ordered for him straight away, the kitchen then told her that it was the rice that was spicy and there was nothing they could do about it.. I don't think you should be serving food that spicy to children with no mention of it being so on your menu. Thank you to the lady who served us and sorted it all out for us and I recognise this is not her mistake, though so dealt with it very well.

Visited here with work colleagues as a group of 8 for lunch, we picked this venue as it's never very busy at lunch times so hoped to be served swiftly. There is no separate lunch menu so its fairly pricey if you just want a lighter lunch option, I paid £12 for a chicken burger (quite dry) and a small serving of fries; I certainly wouldn't say it's great value for money. All meals were fine, but not much better than this. On the plus side, our waitress was pleasant and service was speedy- although we were the only group there! Went to Chimichanga on Thursday, 4 November 2015 in Leicester City Centre. We went for the £10.95 meal deal for our Meetup group of 8. Evening started off well with the first course - told the waitress I am vegetarian not to put bacon on the potatoes wedges - no problem - thank good for that course. 2nd course arrived told the waitress I am having the vegetarian meal. She assured me that the Burrito dish was vegetarian bean dish. Start eating it and look at the contents and it looks like tuna congealed. Anyway tried it but still not sure call her over again and she says its what the chef gave her so yes it was vegetarian. Ask my friends and looking at the contents in theirs it was meat. Waitress kept saying it was the Chef's fault she just brought the dishes out. Great.Asked to speak to the manager he came over told him they had feed me meat despite me repeatedly telling his staff I was Vegetarian and checking with the waitress during eating - I told him I wasn't going to pay as I haven't eaten meat for over 20 years and was extremely upset and it had made me feel unwell. He said of course - no charge apologised for the error - If I was Muslim visibly would he have given a more difference response as they don't eat Pork. But he gave no offer of Madam chose something else from the menu or let me get you a drink on the house - nothing. Then I had to request to have the dessert on the house - yes of course he said. Then when it came to getting the desert I told the waitress it was on the house for me - well it was like I had asked for the crown jewels - manager argued he had given me the 2 courses free of charge and he was now doing me a favour giving me a £5 desert on the house NO Charge - Wow. Unbelievable, and showing you genuinely are sorry and want that customer to come back again and not repeat the experience to everyone in their Meet up group, friends and family in Leicester. When the bill came I told the nice Man server that they can forget the service charge as non of us would pay that or be leaving a tip nor would we be coming back again. Recommendation - a) label the dishes before they go in the oven so they now meat and non meat dishes b) send out the veg dish first so the staff don't get confused. c) offer the customer a choice of ordering something else off the menu on the house make a fuss and be genuine. d) Manager needs a course on customer service and what to do when you do something like this.I felt ill when I got home - would never recommend or go to this chain again.

What should have been a lovely meal out for of use was ruined for vegetarian diner in our party. She was sadly left sitting eating nothing whilst we all tucked into our main meals. Her 20 year strong vegetarian record was gone this evening in a few bites of a so called 'veggie' enchilada that was actually pulled pork!Having asked the server on arrival of the food if it was the veggie dish she was assured yes that it was vegetarian more than once.Horrified and disgusted on eating several bites she immediately complained only to be told it wasn't the fault of the person running the food but the kitchen instead. And asked would she like something else, no, and I wouldn't either if they don't even know what they are cooking and serving to their customers. This is shocking when dining you are putting your complete trust in the kitchen to cook the food that you have ordered.Sorry but this isn't good due diligence. When there is absolutely no difference in appearance between a wrapped meat and a wrapped veggie dish so that the no one can actually tell you are just asking for trouble.Having worked in the hospitality industry I was shocked that this company/kitchen makes no special effort to distinguish between veggie dishes and meat. They look identical! No separate coloured plates or dishes used or garnish is used to easily visibly show at a glance which dishes are actually vegetarian. So I am sure that this must happen on such a regular basis that they showed no real sympathy about what they had done and didn't seem to notice just how much upset that this had caused to ruin a guests experience and also the rest of the tables evening. As she didn't trust them to eat a different main dish all she wanted was a simple dessert on the house and was treated as if she was demanding food for the whole table on the house instead! Unfortunately the manager made a big fuss of this instead of simply being more obliging and just wanting to make sure to see a customer happy by giving them a cheap portion of dessert, he make a big deal of this small request and made things worse. I got the impression that communication and staff customer service skills in general here is poor and thank God for Ricky for sorting out our bill at the end as I think no one else dared come over to the table to make sure we even left on a good note. What is more worrying is that she could easily have been Muslim and not able to eat pork for religious reasons or even have had some kind of food allergy or intolerance and matters could have been a lot worse. Customer service skills here need to be improved drastically as well as training in the kitchen as well as front of house.I hope they plan to put some kind of simple procedure in place to avoid this happening again but they would have to care to do this, and I suspect that they really don't.

We visited this restaurant for lunch because it seemed to be a good place from the outside for a family of four, once we went in, we were seated after only a few minutes which made us think more highly of this place but no more praise can be given of this place. We ordered drinks and a couple of startersfirst of all as we were still deciding on the main meals, when our drinks arrived, the waiter persisted that we order more drinks, this left us very frustrated because he kept on repeating himself and we were eager to choose our main meals. The starter took a short while to come and it appeared to be acceptable, although the waiter funnily enough couldn't place our food properly on the table, emptying half of it, however things went downhill from then on, we ordered our main meals which then took more than half an hour of waiting for, this left very annoyed. When we finally received our food, the bread on one of the meals was stiffer than a rock and when we made the waitress aware of it, her exact words were 'What do you want me to do about it, you're nearly done', the customer service standards shown by your workers were appalling, we certainly will not be coming back and we don't recommend anyone to visit this restaurant with ill-mannered staff and awful food. You should deeply consider more customer service training for your staff and improve your food standards.

My partner and I popped in here for some dinner (evening meal) whilst out shopping, as neither of us had ever had a chimichanga before and fancied trying one. We weren't disappointed...Upon arrival we were immediately shown to a table in this very playfully decorated restaurant. The decor is of a high standard and immediately sets the Mexican/Southern States mood. The waiter left us for the perfect amount of time before coming over to take our order (not too quickly as to feel hurried, and not so long that we got bored). Our drinks came over very quickly and were served in iced glasses, which was a nice touch that you find in very few eateries here in the UK. The food followed not long after and was presented well, hot, fresh and tasty. The portion sizes are not enormous but there was more than enough to satisfy. Each table has a selection of house chilli sauces ranging in intensity (the "hotter" one was very nice I thought but would probably disappoint a real heat-head).When we'd finished the bill came over very quickly (after asking for it) and the whole process was very smooth. As we left the manager gave us a very sincere/friendly "thank you" and we will definitely return on another occasion.

Upon entering we were asked to wait 10 minutes for a free table. A lovely gentleman found us a nice spot to eat just before that time. We rummaged through the menu, figured out what we wanted - some cocktails and our mains and let the waitress know. Then we waited... And waited...our cocktails arrived... And we waited... 45 minutes later our food arrived. We had observed groups of people who sat down after us getting their food but we remained patient. The resteraunt wasn't that busy either so I cannot understand the huge wait times. On the upside the food was very nice. The Mushroom Wraps that the missus ordered are huge! Visited late lunchtime after a trip to the cinema, board outside advertised 30% off and waitress also pointed this out. We were seated in a nice booth and the waitress gave our little one crayons and a menu to draw on straight away.Drinks were expensive at £6.70 for a glass of not very nice pinot grigio and £2.50 for a coke, but the food menu seemed reasonable for the type of food and even better with the 30% off, the kids meal was £6.50 for 3 courses plus a drink and had quite a bit of choice. Kids starter came out quickly, quite a large portion of cheesey nachos which we all shared as there were so many, and then came the mains, piping hot and huge! Foot long beef hot dog was really tasty but I wish they let you put your own sauce on as there was a bit too much, the cajun chicken with hot sauce was massive, nucely cooked and served with chips, coleslaw and corn on the cob, the extra onion rings we ordered weren't needed but were lovely. Lovely little kids burger in a brioche bun, great size for little hands, this was followed by ice cream.Service was quick and friendly, toilets extremely clean and with 30% off the bill came to £34 including the overpriced glass of wine.Nice place to take the kids after the cinema.

Tables are very close on both sides, we did ask for an alternative table to the one we were offered but we were simply told no. This was our first visit, so that didn't go down too well to start with. I can get quite anxious and panicky in certain situations, so would've preferred to move as I felt quite enclosed. We would have gone elsewhere except we had a Tesco Boost voucher to use. We then waited 15 minutes before anyone came over to take our drinks order, starter was served swiftly afterwards. Our main was lovely - cant say it was worth the price tag though! Once we'd finished, we then waited over 20 minutes before anyone came to take our payment. Drinks are very expensive - £2.50 for a glass bottle of Coca Cola! Although the food was nice, we definitely wont be returning. The 2 stars is for the food only, and even then I feel generous. They certainly need to brush up on their customer service skills. Think we'll stick to TGI Fridays in future.

I turned up 8pm on a Saturday night with no reservation. Was told it would be 30-45 minutes. I asked if it was ok to leave the restaurant to go for a drink elsewhere. That was fine so came back, and our table was ready. The food was very good and came out quickly. The atmosphere is very good, and our waiter, Rikson was excellent, made sure we had drinks, and that everything was ok. The only negatives, our main meals didn't come out together. There was about a 4 minute gap, which felt like ages. I didn't think the fajitas were such good value, compared to the other meal we ordered. Needed more meat.

Visited with my wife and daughter late afternoon, so it wasn't busy. We ordered our drinks which were very expensive. The food was ordered and followed shortly. I had ordered a burger advertised with bacon and mushroom but was served something completely different but still a burger. I called the waitress over to point it out to her. Unfortunately her English wasn't good and she never understood but said she would go and check with the kitchen. She never returned!!Upon paying the bill no mention was made by the waitress so I asked to see the manager, not to complain but to point out what had happened. To which he replied...'I wondered what she was talking about'.Why the heck then did he not come over and ask me??In fairness he offered us desserts or coffees but we'd already paid so declined as we were ready for leaving. Visited during a quiet weekday lunch time, order taken quickly and food didn't take long to arrive. The food had been cooked, sat out and reheated. The rice was mushy and tasteless. The tortilla was hard on the outside and the filling was overcooked. The paella was a bowl of rice with one prawn and an overpowering lime taste. Me and my partner tried this restaurant for the first time last night after we both love Mexican food. I left very disappointed after ordering a BBQ pulled pork buritto.. The service was very quick and staff very friendly however the size of the burrito shocked me but not only that after every mouthful I could not taste any BBQ in flavour like expected and the amount of pulled pork that was actually inside was shocking it was very dry and served with rice and beans which also didn't help, the overall dish seemed like a starter in size and most defiantly didn't justify the £12.95 price tag.! If your a mans man who loves a big burrito like me look elsewhere. Very disappointed and I won't be returning sadly.

Night out with the girls on a school night.....fancy some Mexican so we decide to try Chimichanga in Highcross. Won't make that mistake again! We skip starters to go for a mains and dessert. My chicken chimichanga arrived and it was like a kids meal - no exaggeration, there was a teaspoon of guac on top of a 3 inch chimichanga. 2 teaspoons of dry black beans - no sauce, just dry dry dry! And it gets worse. A sparse circle of rice - I could see the plate between the grains - the chimichanga was not sitting on a bed of rice and I found literally less than a teaspoon of salsa after shifting around the rice - total joke!!!! I called over a staff member dressed in casual clothing and explained that my meal was not acceptable she said shall I bring you a bowl of rice. The whole meal was dry and there was not much of it - what's worse the main meal cost £13. I wasn't angling for anything but the customer care was seriously poor! If I was a manager of the restaurant I would want to make a guest feel like I give a damn. That's 4 people who won't be going there again - Las Iguanas it is!

Went here not long ago for the first time. Place is a nice average size, but there is always a queue and people waiting in the lounge! We got in and we were told to wait for 45 minutes. So we wrote our name down and came back after 40 minutes. The next part felt a bit awkward as we were just standing around by the waiting area with no one coming up to us, so we looked rather confused as everyone seemed too busy to approach us. Eventually I spoke to one of the ladies at the front when she was writing a bill to let her know we booked a table and we were seated not long after. On to the food...The menu is a nice simple menu and for starters we chose the buffalo blasts and the tex and mex spring rolls. The spring rolls were cut in half and were really a nice light chicken filled starter accompanied by fresh guacamole. The buffalo blasts were chunky breast pieces that came with a few carrot sticks and a cheese dip. For main course we chose from the Mex Kitchen and we chose a Chimichanga and a Burrito. These already come with Spicy Rice and Black Beans, however I opted to swap the black beans for fries for my Chimichanga. Main course was pleasantly good. The Chimichanga came in a black metal bowl, which was filled with rice, fries and the Chimichanga on top. The Burrito came in a plate with rice beans and Burrito on top. Overall the food is great from this place and at a fairly reasonable price, the only downside is the waiting time.

So this place is another chained store serving up decent food for the masses. The food was good, not amazing but good, I think the location had a great design but the high ceilings and the lack of character does slightly detract it from its atmosphere, but that didn't matter too much as we wanted a location to relax and enjoy ourselves and this place had it in the bucket loads! Chimichanga is bright and lively and with delicious Tex Mex food. I have eaten here twice and had the Chicken Enchilada and Chicken Quesadilla and both were delicious. The only negative thing I can say is that the service is TOO FAST. On both occasions I have visited at about 6.30pm and have felt rushed despite the restaurant only been 25% full. Now I know that the fact it wasn't busy is why they are able to serve so quickly but considering there wasn't a queue out of the door for tables I don't feel it's necessary to speed things through. Dining out is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable, it should be an experience. If I wanted fast food I could go to Chilacas a few doors down and grab a Burrito to eat whilst I walk home! On both occasions I met with a friend whom I don't see that often so, naturally, as women we have a lot to talk about and catch up on. Imagine our frustration when we are approached/badgered to have our order taken every 2 minutes until we cave under the pressure and order the first thing we think of. The food then arrives after about 5 minutes. This means that if you don't want dessert or coffee, you are paying up and leaving 30 minutes after you arrived. So, if you have 30 mins for dinner this is a great place to choose. The food and atmosphere is lovely, it's just a shame that the staff have not been trained on how to 'read' their guests in order to provide the correct level and style of service.

I eat locally alot. All chain restarants are above average at best but I thought Chimichanga was actually very good. We shared the nachos with Chilli Con Carne, and the fillings etc were pretty genourous, not just a load of dry Nachos with stingy pots. Although an extra salsa and sour cream pot would have made it better. I had Sea Bass and my partner had enchiladas, very well put together. Next time I fancy a Mexican in leicester, Chimichanga would easily be my choice. Ah, one critism, the music was quite loud so the waitress and I couldnt hear each other very clearly.

We went to the restaurant for a family Sunday lunch. I had been dying to go, I love Mexican food but in this country Mexican restaurants are so hard to come by! Overall I was very disappointed...First of all the positives - the kids meal was good value with very generous portions, especially for my 1 year old!! It's also nice they give you pencils and crayons to entertain. The restaurant looks great. Now onto the food. I think the closest the creators of this menu have got to Mexico is at the Old El Paso section of their Tesco! It's just so predictable and boring. The food we ate was fine but not fireworks! As many other reviewers have mentioned the portions are tiny-you get the most meagre serving of sour cream and guacamole and a scraping of boring old rice!! Drinks are mega overpriced -nearly £5 for one beer!!! It's far too expensive for what it is... However by far the worst thing about this place is the service. It wasn't massively busy when we were there. Staff stood around and chatted while we were not offered drinks or desserts. Even worse and sooo annoying, no one cleared our plates. I was secretly rather pleased when my baby girl accidentally smashed one!!! I called the manager over to complain and he seemed even less bothered than his staff, offering the limpest of apologies and weak excuses. Overall my impression is this is just a money grabbing chain where they have no idea about customer service or retention. Chimichanga is a wonderful advert for nearby Chillacas, where you get better service and tastier food for about a quarter of the price!

Por lo demás, el personal fue amable y disfruté de mi visita, los precios de los burritos son un precio razonable teniendo en cuenta el precio de burritos en otros establecimientos cercanos.
