Great afternoon out with the family, our guide was friendly and informative and we loved spending time with the alpacas. Only slight downside was i personally feel the alpacas were handled fairly roughly by staff at times which just wasn't needed. Afternoon tea afterwards was fantastic, overall had a lovely time.

I'll start with the positive, the farm was a working farm in good working farm condition, the ladies at reception were friendly and the girl leading the experience group was knowledgeable and friendly. The not so good.... Booking this was a nightmare, Our experience was cancelled 2 hours before it was due to begin and no refund or discount for our booking (we were offered discount on a return second booking....but I'm not likely to spend more money with charnwood at this point) I understand the alpacas need to be kept safe and some weather may not be suitable, however having gotten my children excited about the experience, and taken time off work to do this, I feel we should have been compensated for the disruption which wasn't our fault. The receptionist never answers the phone if you need to call. During the walk the alpacas choose their own pace which we weren't aware of prior to being on the walk, which means you don't get to walk with your group. This meant my daughter didn't really enjoy her experience as she was on her own a lot. For this reason I don't think 10 years olds should be made to have their own alpaca. The whole ratio of adults to children is off. I did ask (before we arrived) if my daughter could walk with me and share my alpaca as an under 10 with two guide ropes, but was told this wasn't possible as then I'd need another adult for the ratios..(this wasn't possible for me)which makes no sense as this would have been more sensible than having her 12 foot behind me on her own! The experience was so over priced, and their should be a family ticket option. I didn't feel we got £100 worth of activity. This experience is sold as cute lovely animals who like to bond with people, when actually they are just big cute unfriendly sheep, who really don't like people at all. Id recommend for adults only, as it's not worth the cost of taking a family and children will be disappointed that the alpacas aren't that keen on being patted.

My partner and I had a 90-minute alpaca walk with afternoon tea. The alpacas are really friendly and very well behaved! Liv-our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and explained how to approach the alpacas and walk with them- Leapus and Dorado-were lovely boys and we thoroughly enjoyed our walk with them. The afternoon tea was lovely, special diets are catered for and the vegan afternoon tea was delicious. The staff in the Chilli Bean cafe were very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this as an activity-in winter time just be sure to wear wellies as it can get muddy in places.

After wanting to go to Charnwood Forest Alpacas for years, my boyfriend surprised me with the Valentine's 'Hooves & Hearts' package. It was everything I expected and more. Prosecco and an alpaca biscuit on arrival and nearly an hour of feeding, cuddling and loving the alpacas! Safe to say, the man was very much 25th best being around these gorgeous guys! The alpacas were so calm and friendly (the food may have helped the last part) that I didn't want to leave. We will 100% be back for more alpaca/donkey fun. Amazing place!

booked a Wowcher 90-minute alpaca walk with afternoon tea, I wanted to recreate some memories I had with my mum who I suddenly lost very suddenly in 22.11.22 so these memories are created with my daughter. I myself had alpaca called karma it’s quite ironic how this happend He decided to not be so calm spat at one of the other alpacas. When I said that wasn’t very nice. He looked at me and spat at me. 😂🤮 We fell out at this point as alpacas pick up your tention. I think he knew he had annoyed me, so I had swapped for a different he was very calm and like to walk at the back. I was still very worried that I get spotted again ha ha but overall day was brilliant my daughter really enjoyed it thank you. Can’t wait to go back in the summer.

We had a lovely experience walking the alpacas followed by afternoon tea. Glad we decided to wear wellies - very muddy in the fields! It was a very unique experience, our little one loved it. The grown ups also had fun. We can't wait to come back in the summer to see the babies! The only downside to our experience was the entrance to the farm - massive potholes! Gave our car's suspension a proper test. Please sort it out as it isn't the best first impression.

Today myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed the 90 minute alap an experience and afternoon tea. Everyone gets their own alpaca to walk with. Followed by a lovely afternoon tea. Staff were friendly and welcoming. A safety talk and explanation of what will happen is done to the group before you head out on the walk. Including a demo alpaca, with instructions on how to walk with them. Alpacas are very tame and friendly, like to be stroked. Bags of feed available at £1 each ( which the alpacas loved)! Wear sensible footwear as very muddy parts along the walk - dependent on weather, I’m sure in the summer it is lovely grass and not sludge. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone.

A fantastic ’Gem’ set in beautiful country side! There is so much to do, activities including Alpaca & Donkey walking, and pony trekking, all the animals are adorable, and they are very happy, loved & well care for by Jo and her staff, who will make you feel very welcome, they are very helpful and professional team. My husband Scott & I went pony trekking, the ponies we rode were absolute superstars, they were so well behaved & gentle, I rode Bertie so was sweet, a cheeky chappy, and Scott rode Sam, who was a gentle giant. Jo was our guide, she took us on an off road trek around her beautiful estate. The scenery & views were beautiful. There is lovely coffee shop & bar, serving delicious food. We had fabulous day, and we thoroughly recommend it! And we’ll going again soon! Thanks Mrs Laura Walker

What an experience! Firstly wasn't well signposted when we got into the carpark of where to go but got there. On the website it tells you there will be a safety brief and stresses you need to get there 30 mins in advance of your time but we weren't called to get our alpaca until bang on 10:30- which was fine as there were horses and donkeys to look at. Met up with our alpaca- was just me and an 8 year old. We had 2 ropes which was great as she really felt like she was walking the alpaca so that was good. Ground uneven and sometimes muddy but what's expected There was an electric part of the fence which wasn't well signposted warning you and my daughter got a little shock but she was fine. Did mention to staff. Our tour lady Taytum was so lovely! Really knowledgeable and welcomed questions on the alpacas. Can't wait to come back in the summer. Heard the baby alpaca experience is worth it too! We bought a Wowcher which was cheaper

Exceeded our expectations as Bronze made my first time meeting with an Alpaca a treasure. Hubby had Light As A Feather. All the Alpacas are such docile and beautiful beings, and we would not hesitate to return. The walk with the Alpacas takes over 1 hour and is at a leisurely pace with small up hill slopes, followed by down hill, and 2 stop-overs for pictures. There were no signs about buying food for the Alpacas when we checked into the office, and the lady on the desk didn't mention it either, so when half way into the walk we were told we can feed the Alpacas with food we've bought from the shop, we were somewhat disappointed. Our hungry Alpacas were therefore chomping on grass along the walk ways. This is also an equestrian centre so plenty of horses of all sorts (Shetland, Shire, etc) and cute donkeys to admire. Our guide was excellent and she made the walk informative and fun. Afternoon Tea after walking the Alpacas was also lovely albeit the instant coffee was not very nice. The selection on the platter was brilliant, tasty, fresh and the waitresses were very helpful. Squash, tea and instant coffee are bottomless. TIP: Wear hiking boots or other footwear as you will be walking through a working farm with plenty of mud, high grass and poo. TIP: Buy food for your Alpaca when you check in. TIP: The road into the venue is full of potholes and water, so skip the sports car and take an SUV or higher car instead. TIP: If you appreciate coffee buy the Barista at the pub side before you take your table.

Had a great time with the alpacas. Liv was amazing and tought us so much about these amazing creatures. The walk was short and easy so suitable for any age and fitness. We had plenty of time with the alpacas so make sure you buy food. £1 per bag. Now I bought this experience for my sister's birthday with a woucher voucher and this came with afternoon tea. Judging by other reviews I think we went when the normal chef /cook was off as it was just awful. Everything was stale and the sandwiches were nearly empty. Instant coffee was served. Yuk!!! I had to order a proper coffee from the bar at extra cost. I'm used to these teas being indulgent and fancy but this was just not the case and had to leave most of it. I'd would swere this and order off menu instead if you're wanting indulgence. But like I said, we may have just been unlucky. I'm not usually a fussy person but I felt disappointed. However I must stress... the alpaca walk was amazing and so much fun.

Wonderful family friendly experience! Alpacas were docile and friendly with everyone, just don't show them you have treats or they'll swarm you. Highly recommend ages 3-4+, the walk is about 90 minutes and you'll need two hands on your alpacas lead at all times. So if your child decides they're done halfway through, like mine did, then you'll have hand the alpaca off to someone else. Lovely friendly animals. Good length of walk and the experience with the alpacas was enjoyable. You may not be able to walk near your family/friends as the alpacas choose where they want to walk in the herd. The alpacas must be well looked after as they are very friendly. Will did our tour, he was nice and gave some interesting facts and took pictures for people. You have to buy your own alpaca feed as this is not included in the 90min walk experience. The let down was the whole experience was the logistics/staff. We were told to arrive at least 30mins prior to our walk, to check in and attend the safety briefing. We arrived at 13:20 for our 14:00 walk. Our safety briefing did not commence until 14:05, the experience ended at 15:25 (80mins total). Normally, I would not be so pedantic, but, we had attended the previous week for a 13:30 walk. On that occasion, we arrived at 13:30. I had attempted to call ahead during our journey as traffic had meant that our hour long journey increased by an extra 20 mins but was not able to get through. On arrival which was 13:30, we could not find anyone, or any clear signage we walked through and saw a group, so we tagged on to the safety briefing at 13:32. We were then approached by Will, who advised us that as we were late we could not join the group and we would not get to have our alpaca experience. He used the word "unfortunately" in every sentence, which wasn't helpful, but, unfortunately became patronising and annoying. We asked if there was any chance we could have the first minute of the briefing recapping, or sign a waiver, or join a later your if there was space. He got a colleague, Frankie, to come and talk to us. We had about 15-20mins of discussion about the fact there insurance would be invalid because we missed the start of the safety briefing and that they have a zero tolerance on lateness and won't refund or rearrange, by then, the group left with the alpacas. I explained we had been emailed to rearrange our original time of 14:00 to 13:30 as they chose to cancel that tour, so we had arrived for 13:30. Again, we were just told if you don't check in between 15-30mins before your experience time, you are late and can't do the experience. Eventually, Frankie agreed to rearrange us to the following week. Which was inconvenient but we accepted it as a reasonable resolution, and to be fair, by this point if would have been difficult to enjoy staying at Charnwood Forest Alpacas due to how unreasonable and unhelpful the staff were. So, we were turned away and initially offered to reimbursement or rescheduling because we joined a safety briefing 2mins late, only to then attend the next week and the briefing started 5mins late! I even went back to the check in point just before 14:00 because I couldn't understand why ours hadn't begun. We had even mistakenly joined the 13:30 briefing as that was late too. We weren't able to join that because it wasn't our slot, even though there were spaces available. Then, during our tour, an extra person was allowed to join the group, just by chance, because someone else had cancelled. I think that the staff seriously need to get there policies lined up. Very hostile when we were 2mins late on the previous week, and then doing the complete opposite to everything they had told us and running late for us! Also, they cut the walk short by 10mins. Lovely alpacas and other animals too, but I would not go to this farm again and I would not recommend it either. I would go to J&J alpacas or somewhere else. This wasn't worth the drama.

So disappointed! Our experience was bought as a family Christmas present and with the pandemic we have had to wait to use it. Unfortunately the day before our experience we were notified by school that there were positive covid cases in the childrens classes. We had no symptoms. Unfortunately we had a positive lateral flow test and so I contacted Charnwood before we had even had our PCR test to ask if we could rebook due to the circumstances. A reply email confirmed that they would not allow us to rebook as we were out of their 48h cancellation policy!! What else could we have done??? We also had another booking with another adventure company (Go Ape) and they gave us a refund without hesitation because they made exceptions for covid! Bitterly disappointed and poor customer service!

Great way to spend an afternoon. We took our son and he loved it. There is a welcome talk about the Alpacas, then you are introduced to 'your' Alpaca for the walk. It's lovely being able to walk round, learning lots of facts about Alpacas and getting to know your own walking companion. There is a chance half way round to feed your Alpaca and get some selfies. Loved it. We had also booked the afternoon tea which was a great way to finish our afternoon. Delicious 😋.

Quite literally one of my favourite days EVER! the alpacas were hilarious and clearly well looked after. We took our baby in a carrier and he loved it too! The guide, Casey (sorry if I've spelt that wrong) was really good and funny :) she obviously loves the animals and very knowledgeable... The afternoon tea included in our package was way beyond expectations, great value for money and they even made our son a little childrens box with a jam sandwich, which I thought was a lovely touch. We would highly recommend to anyone thinking of booking and we will definitely be back in the future! All of the staff were so lovely.

An all round fantastic experience from start to finish. The Alpacas were so amazing and our guide was fabulous. The walk was 1 hour and 30 minutes through the surroundings of the farm with time to take pictures and feed your Alpaca too. The afternoon tea was great, really tasty and friendly service. I cannot recommend this experience enough and we will definitely be back to do some of the other experiences available. Thank you for a great day out!

OMG, OMG, OMG, This is amazing!! My wife and I had THE best time at Charnwood Forest Alpacas, during our 90 minute walk. The whole experience was easy, fun, friendly and informative thanks to our host Siobhan. The Alpacas were gorgeous, placid, friendly and sooooo cute! We had such a great time we instantly rebooked for the baby Alpaca experience in a couple of weeks and will take the kids too. There is a fantastic cafe/restaurant too serving beautiful coffee and cakes at reasonable prices. Winner winner! Really impressed with this venue and I am sure we will be back alot now!

Disappointing response to COVID cancellation. I booked a cria experience and afternoon tea for my wife and children to celebrate a big birthday and found the booking process straightforward. We were very disappointed to have to cancel at short notice due to our son becoming unwell and testing positive for COVID. As we were unable to give the specified 48 hours notice we realised we might not be able to get a refund but we expected that Charnwood Alpacas would offer some sort of gesture given that the need to cancel was through no fault of our own (e.g. a partial refund or a voucher towards rebooking the experience). We were surprised to find that despite asking Charnwood Alpacas they told us they were unable to offer any gesture at all. They even charged us in full for an afternoon tea we hadn't consumed leaving us significantly out of pocket with nothing to show for it and with no incentive to rebook. People booking experiences should be aware that this is the approach they are taking. With COVID rates rising and thr risk of this sort of unavoidable late cancellation increasing is it really the right approach to lay all of the risk in the hands of the customer?

What a fantastic experience on a working farm. We attended the 90 minute alpaca walk with afternoon tea. All of the staff were really friendly and very knowledgeable. The alpacas were full of personality and very smart, docile, creatures. The walk is at an even pace and the guides are very enthusiastic. Tea was also great, if you have a free weekend, I highly recommend this!

After my amazing time at Lucky Tails Alpaca farm in Hurley Atherton before, I couldn't wait to come here. But left feeling really disappointed and upset. Unlike Lucky Tails, it wasn't relaxed and fun. It was too strict and regimented. I felt reprimanded "nicely " because I was lagging behind; It made me on edge. Then I hadn't seen the one small sign saying not to smoke or use a vape, and was told off outside while using my vape. I felt terrible as I hadn't seen the sign and would never of done that if I'd known. Then I was looked at with disaprovement by other member of staff afterwards. We've booked in again at Lucky Tails. I highly recommend you try it there. It really is a lot of fun and so friendly. But beware of the one llama Lemmi lol. I was dragged across every field we walked into lol. But he's lovely.

Something I wouldn't of thought to do myself, was bought as a gift. So glad we went, they were kind enough to extend it through lockdown. All the alpacas seem so different and have different personalities. The one I had liked to keep himself to himself but by the end of the walk had started to warm to me, my partners one was called lil nige (the smallest they had) he was adorable. The guides were very good, full of knowledge and kept giving us support if one of the alpacas were starting to be difficult. All the staff in the shops were very pleasant and very much worth the trip out.
