From top to bottom it was quality from the service from the lady to the food. Definitely recommend

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST THAI PLACE IN CARDIFF. The service was absolutely impeccable and both staff were incredibly sweet. The food came out quick and was VERY GOOD! the tables all have soy sauce and a pot of Crispy chilli in oil, which was appreciated. The only downfall I could think of is not taking card, but the lady kindly directed us to a cashpoint and food was really reasonably priced.

Delicious, we had Coconut soup with prawns, Tofu Pad Thai, Prawn Massaman, papaya salad. Really good. Lovely atmosphere including in the kitchen which is open. V small just 3 or 4 small tables inside.

Outstanding Thai. Super authentic and flavours incredible and they cook fresh to order consulting on level of spice, allergens etc. Bespoke Thai. Amazing.

Been here a few times now - a small family run restaurant with only 4 tables, and everything we have tried has been delicious. Really high quality and priced well too.

Food: bland, watery, overall flavourless. I tried green curry in many places and it has never been so mediocre. No sweetness-acidity balance, not spicy. Starters alike. Fish cakes were rubbery and oily. Dumplings didn’t taste of anything. I would never expect that from a Thai restaurant. Service: poor, slow, meals are not arriving together. Cash only. Atmosphere: chef shouting a lot, decor absent, not a lot of space inside. More of a noodle bar, but without the fast service. Overall, first and last visit. Not worth it.

Just had a delicious meal at this small and casual Thai restaurant for £50 for 3 people! For starters we had prawn tempura, chicken satay and chicken & prawn dumplings; then for mains we had Tom yum noodle duck soup, spicy chicken fried rice with an egg, and beef massaman curry. All really tasty and cooked up in minutes. If I lived locally, I would eat here regularly. Note that it is cash only.

Absolutely wonderful food. Great value at around £10 a dish with huge portions. Cash only and booking advisable. Went on Wednesday night at 7.30 and tables full. Definitely worth visiting

Food is good could be better. Quantity has been reduced since my last visit Ordered 3 fried rice all came in different portions. And when i asked they said it was cooked together so can portion it urself,which is so awkward because i am not going to take food from the friend who got more rice. Horrible way to serve So i paid more for less quantity Must do better

Heard a good rep of this restaurant, rather disappointed as the food was rather bland, not much better than the standard, average take away. Expected the food to be aromatic but sadly almost tasteless, not at all spicy and even the garlic dish had no hint of garlic, the fried rice was a bit gooey and nothing to recommend it although the coconut rice tasted okay. Which was the general opinion of our party, nothing to draw us back, sadly,

Wonderful place, food and service. This is my go to when I visit Cardiff, and I've got my friends hooked too! I am vegan and they always do the Tom yum tofu soup vegan with no fish sauce. You can have lots of other veggie and vegan options too!

Another fantastic meal here! Red Thai curry is probably the best I've ever had, my daughter had the gren curry which was delicious. The coconut rice was amazing! My husband had the Thai sweet and sour with sticky rice again it was really tasty! Highly recommend! It's cash only, no booze served, really simple set up but great food and lovely owners!!

Honestly my favourite Thai place in Cardiff!! I always crave thai food and this is my place to go. The staff are very friendly and the food tastes AMAZING!! We never wait for too long for our food to be ready and if we ever were to wait it would be worth it. My favourite dish is the Pad Thai and Green Curry. The place is very small which is the only downside.

Great, Super tasty Thai food at fairly reasonable prices for Cardiff. Staff are friendly and were happy to accommodate our request for additional chillis for a super spicy lunch. Would certainly recommend a visit if you’re ever in the area

Excellent food - had the red curry with tofu, chilli basil noodles with tofu, and spring onions. All the dishes were delicious and very good value for money. The atmosphere was cosy and casual and the service was personal and friendly. I'd highly recommend and I'd happily return here.

We’ve recently visited for the first time, and wow; incredible customer service and outstanding food! We had a takeaway - 1 “Beef Special” and 1 - Red Thai Curry. Sadly we don’t have pictures of the food, but trust me it was incredible! This drink is also very tasty, and worth the £2.50 paid.

Chilli Basil has a delicious and tasteful food,tempura and noodles is a must.I have never disappointed ,they are always working hard and with love to serve the best food.

I used to live in Thailand, and pork being a major part of their dishes. I asked for one of their famous dishes which originally came from the South if Thailand to find that I had to have an alternative meat (chicken) I've had it with chicken before and found that it doesn't taste the same... shame, otherwise this place would have huge potential.

It doesn't look like much from the outside but I went a few weeks back with a friend who rates it highly. It didn't disappoint. It's a small Thai restaurant on City Road, with only 4-5 tables, so most people order to take away, although you have to collect. It was quiet though, so we ate in and shared a thai green chicken curry with rice and a chicken pad thai. You can see the fresh ingredients and the food being cooked. The green curry was really nice and smooth and the chicken was tender, but the star for me was the pad thai, which I hadn't had anywhere before. It had a lovely smokey flavour and a lovely addition of crushed nuts and herbs on the side to sprinkle over. The portions were generous and the staff were friendly and helpful without being overly attentive. Would definitely recommend and will definitely visit again soon.

Great foods we like all the menu we have ordered. Spicy Papaya salad , prawn massaman, fried thai thick rice noodle . Also the place is clean and comfy to dine in. We will come back again when we visit Cardiff.

Fair taste but way over priced for what you get!! poor value for money. Also they only accept cash which was annoying as I had to trip to the cash machine in the rain. For £16 this is what you get!!

Best Thai restaurant in Cardiff

This is easily my favourite place to get food in Cardiff. I dream of this food often.

Had an incredibly delicious takeaway this evening. My partner had a red chicken curry and I had the chilli basil stir fry with prawns. The coconut rice was great too. Easy pick up with social distancing (just remember to take cash not card!). Food was so tasty! Will definitely be returning soon.

We’ve eaten in most of the Thai restaurants in the City but my go to Chilli fix is the Chilli Basil in City Road. It’s only small with four tables inside but the best things come in small packages!!! Eating in is always our favourite because it’s straight out of the Wok but they are very busy with take-aways!! Please note they only accept cash plus they do not serve alcohol. After a busy morning shopping in the city centre we decided to walk here for lunch. Great to see that the husband and wife team has been awarded for their excellent food by winning the Welsh regional Thai restaurant award - congratulations !!! I ordered the Chicken Pad See Yew and please ask them to spice it to your liking- they are really accommodating. We had the tempura prawns and Chicken and prawn dumplings- absolutely delicious!! Two starters,two mains prawn crackers and drinks came to just over £25 Excellent value for an excellent lunch !!! Many thanks and see you in the New Year x

The best Thai in Cardiff!!! This restaurant is ran by a husband and wife, all of the food is cooked fresh in front of you. We opted for the prawn spring rolls, chicken and prawn dumplings, Thai prawn crackers and then two chicken pad see ew (spicy). Came to just under £30! Highly recommended to everyone !!!! Always an amazing experience.

We have had a couple of takeaways from here and it is one of the better Thai food establishments in Cardiff. The food is hot and tasty and not too sweetened. Love the Tom Yum and Pad Thai. Other dishes also very good.

Thai food made by an expert chef. He has made the flavours pop out and everything that we ate had depth and deliciousness. The salads were fresh and uplifting on the palate. The curries had a richness that can only come with a slow and measured cooking process. The starters were fantastic and the chicken satay was especially mouth-watering. To say that I will be coming regularly is an understatement. Overall - Excellent Thai food with amazing flavours. Priced to make you go again and again. In London this quality food would cost four times as much.
