Chilli in Barnsley

This dish is bland with an excessive amount of salt, indicating it is not freshly cooked. I would not suggest this place if you want to prevent a trip to the hospital in case of an emergency.

Delived originally to wrong address, eventually got our food it was bland at best. Would not recommend to any of my friends, its sad to say we will not try them again. Let themselves done.

Had my usual but first time from here, bland poor quality. Ive had same food from poor takeaways that was actually better than this swill.

Orderd via takeaway. The Saag curry was nice in Combination with the garlic naan. Garlic naan could definitely be better of utilised garlic butter instead of garlic granules. Overall pleasant enough to order again.

We ordered takeaway collection from here last night and honestly couldn’t recommend it less. The food was as though it had been cooked in the morning and then cling filmed (our starter actually was cling filmed)! We ordered the Friday Ruby Murray special and it really did feel that because it was a deal, it had all been pre-cooked. Despite collecting it was cold and had to be reheated when we got home. The food had no flavour, with the tikka masala tasting like it just had a ton of tomato soup in it for the sauce! I can’t comment on the dining in experience, but would 100% recommend avoiding takeaway from here. Re the owners reply below —- we collected the order bang on time, and did not collect later than advised on their order confirmation!! Excellent example of not taking ownership and putting the blame on the paying customer 🙄 if you can’t provide fresh takeout food, don’t offer it!

This is the second delivery!! The best curry’s by far, not greasy full of taste and I’m picky!! Can’t wait to sit in and dine if the takeaways that good.. credit where credits due xxxxx

Absolutely beautiful food fabulous clean taste we have only tried takeaway and its been beautiful... everytime.. the staff are what makes the place just lovely the gentleman on the phone always has time for you highly recommended

Ordered Chilli at home takeaway via their website for the first time. Disappointing food. Delivery time - was stated as 60 minutes but it was quicker, though the website tracker didn't update to show it was on the way. The food - Dry, hard chicken that must have been sat under a heat lamp for hours? Two tiny pots of mushrooms - the pots were so crammed full of mushrooms that there wasn't even a teaspoon of the creamy mushroom wine sauce that the chicken was supposed to be swimming in. Chips, half were lovely but the other half weren't cooked. Wouldn't order again.

We had a takeaway tonight fast service and great food. Would highly recommend.

Excellent. Menu, service, seating all brilliant. Food is vibrant, fresh and brimming with flavour and very well priced. Cannot recommend enough, just wish I lived closer.

Definitely got its groove back! Not been for a couple of years as we had a bad experience near Christmas (40 mins waiting for staff to clean up a diners accident) but after giving it another try last night I was pleasantly surprised, chips were average (but acceptable as not really an Indian speciality) everything else was top notch and the nan was probably the best I’ve tasted. Simply fantastic

Waited for 110 minuets still no main course ! Before leaving had to ask for my drink twice although my husband got he’s the first time. The starter was poor.. five small pieces of dry chicken, but worse was sat in a terrible draft!!! Was cold to the bone! my knees are still cold despite leaving an hour and a half ago. Everybody complained about inadequate heating and slow service! (14 people all fed up and disappointed ) At least they agreed no charge but spoilt our Christmas group get together no one will remember that place favourably. The poorest dinning experience we had in years! Nothing good to say apart from know never to go back!

Not my thing but defo nice food

Went with a group of 11 and only ordered poppadoms and a main . Our order of poppadoms came 1 short but when we pointed it out they were very apologetic and brought quite a few more for us. My main was really good and very tasty .

We ordered Takeaway and would not recommend to anyone. It was the worst indian meal we've ever had. For starters the onion bhaji was cold and looked like a ready made frozen one, the taste and texture was horrendous. The chicken pakora couldn't of been any more chewy, the mint yoghurt was nice however a bit of salad with it would of being good. For mains the flavour of the balti was nice until i realised i was chewing on a piece of stem ginger, once again the chicken was extremely chewy and to top it off i found a black hair in the rice. I also forgot to mention the chapatti tasted like burnt toast and was as tough as leather. Its safe to say we will not order from here again.

The worst curry I’ve ever eaten. Appalling. The madras was just chilli powder- admitted by the waiter; the tikka masala was tomato soup and the Tarka Dal was lentil purée. No flavour, no spice. Awful. Avoid.

First class. Waiter extremely friendly and helpful. Indian tapas dishes were to die for. Food very well presented with excellent authentic tastes. Atmosphere lovely and relaxed. Would highly recommend 10 out of 10. We certainly will be back. 😋👍

Came here for works Christmas meal a while ago, food was great, and so was the service - however, the 4 stars is because they made 8 of us sit in the window which usually sits 4.

This a nice chilly place (pun intended). I like the choice and quality of food. Chilli restaurant has a nice atmosphere and friendly stuff. I am using their unlimited curry deal and eating there every day, enjoying myself and great quality Indian food in a small town.

We went on a Saturday night. I enjoyed my butter chicken but the rest of my family didn't enjoy it. Maybe next time.

Best korma I've had in a while, and the naan was delicious. The popadom was slightly soft, which let it down, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would defo order again!

Food arrived on the cold side, chicken korma was nice but little sauce and chicken dry/over cooked. Pakoras tasted like pies due to thick pastry and thick mashed filling. Rogan josh was not hot. No veg in dishes and small portions for the price. A little underwhelming.

I've given this delivery 6 stars for every aspect available to me as the food was delicious and delivered early. However I was glad that I had ordered three main dishes because the portion size seemed to be small.

Bought a take away costing nearly £30 and it was very disappointing. The chicken tikka masala and the chicken korma were extremely hot to say their surpose to be mild dishs. The chicken tikka starter did not come with salad which I never known to happen at an Indian restaurant yet! The chicken pakora looked and tasted like frozen chicken strips. The foil dishes are the small ones which is apalling to say what you pay. We will not be reordering that's for sure.

I just love this restaurant. My family and I have been here several times recently. Just tonight we went for my sons 18th. We're always looked after and the team who work there go out of the way to make sure we enjoy our stay. The environment is relaxing and the food tastes great. Thank you to all the staff. Xx

Food was lovellovely, however, we ordered popadums and only had 1 in the bag! As we paid £27 i thought this was pretty bad. If the meue statws 'popadums' it shoukd include at least 2. Not happy about that, but otherwise good tasted lovely.

I've let it a few times before leaving a review on here - not sure if it was the pessimist in me waiting for Chilli to slip up or something.But they haven't. In fact they've consistently hit the mark.The place is clean, warm and welcoming.The staff and owners are always friendly and genuinely interested in how you're getting on.The food is always hot, tasty and just frankly good stuff.If you enjoy good food in nice surroundings with friendly people, give this place a try. I'm sure you'll be glad you did.

Extremely friendly staff and owner. Never had any issues with my food and is my favourite Indian style restaurant in the Barnsley area! They don't deliver to my home address as I live too far away however when I did live close enough the food i ordered was always still piping hot when it arrived and their was no lack in quality.

Food was cold!!!!! We had to re-create in the microwave! And slightly small portions too. 😔

Rice was soggy and keema in it smelt like dog food, curry wasn't even spicy as asked for and didn't even bother to try last dish. £15 went to bin. Waste of food and waste of money. Sorry guys, but had much much better Indian dishes before. First and last time.

Starter (mix non veg) was amazing. Rice & Naan were nice too however the main dishes weren't great. I had chicken saag which was bland and my husband had a lamb dish with 'wicked' green chilli and pureed spinach but it tasted just the same as my saag.

The food was very nice but it would've been helpful if the contents of the main meals had been written on the lids to aid with identification.

Out of seven meals 3 chicken dishes where made out of chicken that probably died disease ridden and of old age... But I stress what prompted this review was the reaction of Simon the owner! After a few. Comments where made in regards to the chicken... Last visit... After the nonchalant shrug of his shoulders... 250 pounds never again

Food was really nice but we thought we'd get more than ONE pappadum for 75p after spending nearly 30 quid on our order.

Food should have been delivered by 1750, it arrived at 1815. Mixed starter was lovely but my chicken saag was dry & bland as was the peshwari naan. Have ordered from here previously & not thought this though,

Food was amazing and delivered within half an hour. Only negative was I asked for no lemongrass in one of the dishes in the notes to the restaurant and it was ignored.

Spot on nicest I've had in a while

The quality of the food and speed of which it was delivered is great but the chicken rogan josh was very bland compared to the meal you get when you go into the actual restaurant.

The chicken pakoras were like tasteless chickens strips, our egg fried rice had no egg but filled with peppers which we don't like I might add, my chicken tikka masala tasted like shop bought (not a nice one at that) & the chicken korahi was dry literally no sauce at all. We paid over £30 for our order & it didn't even get eaten.... Very disappointed as a first time customer, definitely not ordering again & definitely wouldn't recommend.

First time trying this restaurant. Food quality was great. Really tasty chicken tikka chasni- lots of chicken.really good pickle tray. a bit more expensive but it was worth it. think we'll try dining in next time.

After order our usual korma. We seem to have something that's spicy. Orange in colour. And does not appear to be a korma. Disappointed to say the least

My last review of Chilli wasn't great when I ordered a Chicken Madras over a year ago. So I decided to try one of their own dishes since the traditional dishes were disappointing. The dish itself "Murgh Banjara" lacked both spice and flavour, the Bhaji was nice, but the mint sauce tasted weak despite being thick. The insides of the Peshwari naan fell out all over my tray when I picked it up. This was my last try of Chilli, as I mark another Indian takeaway from my list. Just eat needs better options for Barnsley.
