Chick N' Sours in Hackney

Probably been going “downhill” for a while, looks close to the bottom now. Service non-existent (one of those times you have to ask 2-3 times for water at the start) and we were told because there were no eggs, there was no Sours drinks available that night. Bit weird for a half empty restaurant called “chick n sours” with grocery stores within 30 sec walk. Food still redeems it a bit as the chicken has stayed good. But pretty disappointing.

Me ha gustado, muy rico y simpatía en el equipo. El salón está bajando escaleras, en el sótano. La cocina justo en la entrada, sin complejos. Tiene terraza, en la acera, si prefieres el aire. Es una muy buena opción y personalidad. Alitas hot imprescindible.

The food was not good at all and the service unfriendly. They promised a refund: it never happened. Strongly overpriced for the quality you get.

Chicken is very good. Good burgers. My partner had a chicken burger and I had the vegan burger. Customer service was good.

Excellent hospitality, tasty food friendly staff. Didn't even have to ask for tap water along side meal the only negative is not down to the restaurant but uber eats delivery drivers standing with the door open however staff got their orders out to them pretty fast Vegan options available aswel

Probably one of the worst restaurants in London. Myself and my party were waiting at the door for 10 minutes before even being acknowledged and no apology for the waiting. Sat down and cutlery was dirty. Ordered 2 starters, we had finished one of them and then the other starter came out with our main! The burgers was stone cold and we ended up taking one bite and not eating the rest, which i absolutely hate as it was such a waste of food. Had to ask 2 different servers for sauces and overall was just a horrendous experience. Wouldn’t recommend!

I have been going to CnS since I heard about the little asian fusion chicken place in about 2016 ish. I still make the pilgrimage a few times a year and can report that it's still my favourite chicken place in London. I recommend the a few things, the Szechuan aubergine or chicken toast as a starter, you cannot go wrong with any chicken burgers, but order CRACK FRIES. I promise it's not on the menu but every staff member knows them. Enjoy!

Spoilt for choice with the amount of Fried chicken restaurants that are on offer around Leicester square but Chicken N sours is what I decided to try and it did not disappoint. Friendly quick service and the Kung Pow chicken wings were on point, Large crispy wings tossed in a semi sweet sauce topped with peanuts and sliced chili. I choose a side of Bang Bang cucumber which was also really tasty. To wash it all down I choose a Habanero cocktail which was surprisingly refreshing. All in all a great meal and I left with a full stomach. The bill came in at £25 which is slightly on the heavy side for 6 wings a cucumber salad and a small cocktail but the taste and texture was worth it.

Don’t bother. Nothing to shout about. Feels more like a takeaway with all of the Deliveroo bikes outside. Cocktails really poor. Staff were friendly.

Absolutely love this place, been 3 times now and never disappoints! First time on my own and made to feel so welcome by the friendly Francesca. The chicken tenders were to die for and don’t start me off about the crack fries!! I’m a sucker for sour cocktails so in heaven here. Love the vibe and whole ethos of Chick n Sours, anywhere that plays Snoop Doggy Dog and old school west coast rap has my vote!!!! Looking forward to my next visit…..

I have been wanting to try this place for 2 years due to Instagram and social media. It’s one thing to make chicken look good on social media. But the quality of the fried chicken is not just poor, the flavours are gross and unpalatable. Really. This may be my 2nd or 3rd review since I’ve had this app in ten years. But I can’t stand the hype. I truly don’t believe people are even capable of knowing good from bad, right from wrong once social media has decided. This food was so bad and so anticipated it ruined the rest of my day, plus the cost. And then my dog died. Don’t waist your time. Chickn sours is a social media facade.

Some really tasty fried chicken with an Asian twist. Some delicious cocktails that work really well with the food. Service great, look forward to going back!

The food was amazing and the portions sizes were incredible for the price - £10 for 9 very large chicken tenders! It was a shame that one of our servers seemed completely uninterested in being there and all but grunted at us while seating us...

Unnatural sized chicken burger, feels like eating a whole chicken between burger buns! Put both burgers in the bin unfortunately as found it quite sickening. It didn't taste bad, just the size of the burger was wrong.

Un par de amigos y yo visitamos Chick N 'Sours para hacer una parada en boxes en un gran día. Viajamos 45 minutos para llegar allí y no nos decepcionó en absoluto.Pedí 18 alitas y patatas fritas regulares entre 1 amigo y yo, 6 alitas desnudas, 6 alitas picantes y 6 alitas de Kung Pow. Cada uno era fantástico, los calientes estaban muy buenos, aunque no tan picantes como queríamos. Los desnudos eran unas alas muy crujientes, perfectas y mantecosas. Las alas de king pow eran increíbles, el sabor era exquisito y se mantenían crujientes a pesar de que estaban cubiertas de salsa.En general, exactamente lo que queríamos.

Chick N' Sours offers some of the best fried chicken ever. The disco wings and house fry are probably the best two items on the menu. The beer choice is good and the service is always very friendly. Good value for money in central London. Just make sure that you book in advance, if not they will take your number and give you a call when a table becomes available.

The chicken is amazing as is all the food. The atmosphere needs a little work. The music was way too loud for conversation. I would recommend, just be aware it's loud.

Food here is so good and love the atmosphere but really feel for the staff. Think there were only two on the floor on a Friday night. They were out the door with Deliveroo and Uber Eats drivers and because of that our food was really delayed. Also the drivers were brushing past everyone constantly which kind of killed the atmosphere. It’s just a reflection of how good the food is but it would be great to see more staff and deliveries dealt with in a more efficient/behind the scenes way

visited Islington restaurant early evening on Saturday with my 10 year old and wife. Although the vibe is more trendy young folk we were made very welcome.

I don't know why but I went to this restaurant with very high expectations, propaply couple of my friends talked highly about it. The decoration and service was good but the menu could have been more creative, the food was ok but maybe it was not my cup of tea. I can only say, it was ok.

Had a great night here with friends, food great, good portion sizes..cocktails superb! Would return and recommend.

Starters are sour, mains are sour, drinks are sour... If you like sour food this is your place otherwise equip yourself with some Pepto Bismol for the ride. Unexceptional.

I popped in here during a Christmas shopping day with my daughter. Very helpful and friendly staff. Delicious Korean fried chicken, popcorn chicken, watermelon salad and dripping chips. We both had a cocktail too and got out around the £40 mark. The restaurant was quiet on a Monday lunch but not lacking in atmosphere.

Got the set menu (£18 + service). All the dishes were fantastic with a choice of dips/hotness of wings to suit your tastebuds. If you are purely there for the chicken, one person got the house fry and loved it. Fried chicken at its finest.

Found this place by accident as we needed somewhere to grab a bite to eat before visiting MAP Maison for a Gin Experience.

A long journey from Paddington Station was well rewarded as our thirst and hunger for quality friend chicken was fulfilled and exceeded everyone's expectations. The food came at great speed, but the quality was not that of a KFC chicken, it was perfectly fried, and with the cascade of flavours it was an inch from perfection. Finally The chicken wings were the most spectacular of the sort, especially those with the Kung Pao sauce. This place is highly recommended either for a quick bite or a protracted lunch or dinner. Do visit if you are a food lover!

I went here with my wife on Saturday and had a fantastic evening. It's a great place, very cool restaurant. Opted for the "fishbowl" to share as our drink, lovely and went really well with the food. Chicken wings are lip smackingly amazing, crisp, succulent, very messy! Salads are crisp, zingy and compliment the food so well. Opted for the 1/2 chicken as a main to share but could have just had lots of wings :) Love this place, will definitely be going back.

The website proclaims that 'Chick ‘n’ Sours is a great restaurant masquerading as a chicken shop! A whimsical menu of herb fed fried chicken, serious seasonal sides, sour cocktails, local beers & cracking soft serve ice cream creations'. Well, a 'great restaurant' it ain't - but it is a good local chicken joint, but 'whimsical'? Willy Wonka was whimsical, Dumbledor was whimsical, this place sells fried chicken. The family selected the restaurant & I tagged along & joined them. Don't get me wrong - it was OK. But it's pretty hard to screw-up fried chicken. The variation (on, yes, fried chicken) were interesting, the sauces varied from tangy to an Adam Richman Man vs. Food challenge. The buns were excellent & the fried chicken itself very moist. Looking for a romantic spot? This isn't it. The music (excellent selection by the way) was loud... I mean LOUD, especially in a small room. But the kids demolished everything in sight with much smacking of lips, the side orders of pickled cucumbers & (I think) melon rind (yes, melon rind) were good and we drank water. Would I go back? If I happened to be literally passing the door, yes I'd pop in. As a destination venue - not for me, but it has a huge & devoted Dalston following & I admire any restaurant that can make it in today's brutally competitive market. I guess I'm just not a Hipster - but I do own several check shirts.

He tenido mi cuota de hamburguesas en Londres, pero este es de lejos el mejor hamburguesa de pollo que he tenido. Estoy en la incredulidad que este restaurante no tiene una clasificación de 5 estrellas al otro lado de la mesa. El personal es muy amable y siempre servicial incluso cuando está muy concurrido. Conseguir las alas y K Pop que son crujientes y dios maldita deliciosa! ! ! ! El brunch burger también es un lugar favorito para el fin de semana. Es tan bueno como dicen. El menú parece que no va a estar satisfecho; es un laminado de papel pero recuerda de una cuchara grasienta, sin embargo la comida es una delicia! Tuvimos el General, Tamarindo Express, K pop y el cual fue inspiración Malaya fritos pollo frito. Todos los tamaños, Dios mío deliciosa y buena parte. La sandía pickled era increíble y tenía el tipo de patada (me gusta demasiado caliente para algunos) y con el objetivo de replicar que en casa! Probamos algunos de los Sours que también eran dignas de mencionar (ver que es parte de su razón de ser. ). Personal atento y tranquilo. La única pega fueron los servicios que daban asco podría haber sido que uno episodio pero es una cosa importante a tener en cuenta.

This was a good meal but, at least for me, I'm not sure it quit warrants the rave reviews it's got. The K-Pop sandwich was very good (and filled my craving for asian style fried chicken perfectly!) but the General was pretty mediocre. The service, however, was great and the restaurant (7 Dials) has a cool vibe. This is somewhere I'd eat again but I'm not knocking down doors to get to.

Después pedimos kung, alitas de pollo, po, alas pegajosas y nachos para comenzar. Tuve el principal general de pollo hamburguesa, que viene con queso y precioso y mi bro pickle la hamburguesa especial del día tanto pedimos las patatas fritas a cántaros. El camarero encantador estaba preocupado que habíamos pedido demasiado PERO ME cerraba que mientras puede ser pequeña, pero mi vientre no es Lol todo lo que puedo decir es que el pollo estaba delicioso, bien preparado, no grasienta, recubrimiento crujiente, húmedas y precioso. Las alas pegajosas sabor limón pollo bien pero el kung po pollo estaba muy bien, mejor nanchos, eran muy buenos. Las patatas fritas eran bien esperaba que fueran un poco como las patatas fritas servidas @ flatironsteak sino que eran un poco demasiado crujientes y un poco demasiado salado para mi paleta. Aparte de esto el servicio era cálido y amable, y si no has hecho una reserva, entonces asegúrate de llegar temprano ya que el lugar se llena rápidamente y no es grande por dentro. Puedo decir que este es el mejor establecimiento de pollo que he probado hasta ahora supera @ aves_restaurante si @ absurdbirduk es mejor, pero por ahora sin duda la cabeza a @ chicknsours no te decepcionará

Burger was nice, chicken was average quality, but the price is outragious. £12 for the burger and £3.5 for small portion of fries with no sauce??? + service charge.. ~16.5. You could get a very nice meal in one of the top restaurants for that money.

Had the sticky wings with a salad as appetizer - salad was refreshing and the wings were juicy and flavorful. Had two orders of thighs (for two people and we shared) one with the default sauce and the other with peanut sauce - both were absolutely delicious and portions generous. The cocktails were a great accompaniment to the meal. Expect to wait to get a table even if it’s just for two people the place is always busy - but totally worth the wait!!!

Visited the Haggerston branch recently after having had great experiences at the Covent Garden branch. I had the K-Pop burger but this time the cut of chicken was so sub-standard it wasn't even edible: really fatty. Which is such a shame as I love this restaurant - staff, cocktails, atmosphere are always spot on. The staff were lovely when I mentioned it - they took it off the bill and offered something else to replace it. But I really hope the restaurant sees these reviews and sorts it out as I know of a couple of others who've had similar experiences here in the last couple of months so I hope they're not cutting corners with the food.

We expected to queue here when going for a late lunch, we only had to wait 5 minutes and it was worth it, the food was served really quickly, their name aptly describes who they are, the chicken was delightfully succulent inside and crispy outside...

We tried the Kpop and the great tamarind express sandwiches along with the fries and pickled watermelon. Everything was delicious including the drinks! Tried the blackberry cocktail, amazing.

I went twice in a week with two different sets of friends and it was great both times. I have the guest fry each time, made up of a thigh and drumstick with a different house coating, Korean and Malaysian and they were both super tasty.

Como éramos un grupo de más de 4 que teníamos una especie de menú que sólo significaba que no había hamburguesas. Toda la comida era increíble y el crack era precioso mouthwateringly algas salteadas. La única cosa que me impidió dar un 5 fue la que salió después de lados habían casi terminado nuestro pollo. Sin duda volveremos!

We came for lunch on a Saturday. My husband ordered The General which had buttermilk chicken, slaw and cheese. I ordered the Brunch Bun with fried chicken, egg, bacon and avocado. It was quite an experience eating the brunch bun because it was so big! We also tried dripping fries with BBQ sauce. Service was good, I'd definitely come back!

The chicken is super crispy and pretty tasty, but it is just not as good as its reputation would suggest. The sours aren't great, the place is cramped and so noisy and the flavours just don't come through as well as I would have hoped (for example the K pop sandwich). The chicken is pretty good, but it just isn't worth the money for what it is. Possibly a victim of its own success...

I was sceptical, I'll admit. The joke was on me though. Fried chicken was awesome. Yes, 'awesome,' I am American and have not been impressed with any fried chicken I've had in London for the past two years until my random drop in early in the evening a couple days back. Drinks were delicious, service was warm and efficient. Can't wait to go back.

Went here after reading some awesome reviews. Was left distinctly disappointed. Cocktails were great and beer all good too. The chicken wings with peanut sauce were tasty too. But the house chicken that I order was very disappointing. First up, the batter was rock solid. Could break a window with that piece of chicken! Then when I got into it, it was pink. Staff were more than happy to replace it and took it off the bill which was great. However, when it came back next time, the batter was again so thick and hard, and there were big chunk of doughy batter underneath the hard shell which were not cooked. Like big lumps of flour. Not nice at all. The staff were great and the menu was promising but I won't be rushing back.

I like the premise of a free range chicken place and am happy to pay more for this reason (I have to admit, the general chicken burger was delicious) however it is too too pricey. Nearly £40 for two burgers, a very small bowel of fries with mayo and 2 soft drinks.... nice burger and friendly staff but my eyes did water a bit when the bill arrived. Not somewhere to nip for lunch if you're on a budget.

We both got the house fry and the skin was tasty and well seasoned- pretty good fried chicken. It does get quite loud so this is better for a casual meal with friends. There is also a nice selection of sour cocktails, which go very well with the chicken. The chips were good but could be improved with some more seasoning.

Food was okay. I mean there is not much to expect considering it is a fried chicken place. My issue was with the service. The woman who was our waitress was rude and rather awkward. She seemed annoyed and had a weird staring problem. At one point I felt her staring at me and looked up and she was just looking right at me. Weird. Needless to say probably will not be back anytime soon.
