Décoration vieillissante, moquette datant des années 2000, fauteuils old fashion, tables abîmées.

Booked this in July as a treat for my husband and I. From opening the door to leaving the service was outstanding. To all the staff on today thank you so very much. That’s the cleaners chefs kitchen staff as well as front of house.

This is a small establishment, with few tables within two or three rooms. Homely, stylish atmosphere with perfect lighting and thick carpets which absorb the sound. Restaurant attracts nice guests, no riff raff here. Prices are not cheap but also not extravagant. Service is good, if not overly professional. My main course fish was excellent. Surprisingly, there were only two slices of bread – no selection of bread. Much worse is the fact that wine by the glass comes to the table already poured, somewhere at the back. In a restaurant which claims to be the best in Inverness, wine bottle should be shown to patron, then wine given for tasting and then poured at the table. The ‘’Suisse’’ souffle was a disaster. It is a foamy egg white ball, gratinated with some cheese, sitting on creamy sauce which has absolutely no taste. Having mentioned this to the waiter he insisted that they use ‘’Gruyere’’. What I got had definitely NO Gruyere in it. Gruyere is generally on the salty and very tasty side – at least the real Gruyere from Switzerland. The fact that there was no follow up or enquiry about my complaint made me take my further dinners in Inverness outside the Rocpool Reserve.

We have been several times, and always debate whether to go back again or try somewhere new as we don’t get to Inverness very often. However, we always return as we have yet to see a menu in Inverness that is as inviting with guaranteed execution and flavour. This time was no exception, if anything it was even better than the last dinner we had there. The venison main course was as good as any meat dish sampled this year and the beef cheeks were also exceptional. It never tries to reinvent the wheel, it’s just excellent produce cooked well. The service was extremely good, It was professional but personable with the perfect blend of being attentive but never overbearing. It is worth making time to have a drink in the comfortable bar first.

A lovely place with attentive staff. Food nice enough & generous on bread servings but a couple of disappointments versus our expectations: Gnocchis with giroles mushrooms was deliciously creamy but I only found 3 small mushroom pieces + 12 hrs beef cheeks with ox tongue dish nice but not as tender as expected for the 12 hrs. Desserts were very good= lemon tart & strawberry sorbet & chocolate plater. I also felt the place was over merchandised/ branded: soap, water had Albert Roux's name on it so the water was Welsh when Scotland has beautiful mineral waters too & much more local. That being said it was a nice anniversary dinner.

Chez Roux is the brainchild of Albert Roux. His influence is obvious in both the menu and quality of service. The food is faultless and the service outstanding. FYI - the name of the restaurant in the Rocpool Reserve Hotel is the Albert Chez Roux. There is another restaurant called the Rocpool about 1/2 mile away. We ate here two nights at this attractive restaurant while staying at the Rocpool Reserve hotel. Before each dinner, we were invited to the lounge for a cocktail. During the cocktail period, our dinner orders were taken. We were later shown the dining room and our starters arrived shortly afterwards. Both our meals at the restaurant were outstanding. We loved the heirloom tomato and sherbet starter, the halibut, coley fish and the beef cheeks with tongue entrees. The cheese soufflé starter was otherworldly, but so filling that it is best only to eat a part of the dish. Salads were not on the menu, but the ones they made for us were very good. Desserts and fresh baked breads were good. The only disappointing dish was the pea, asparagus and mascarpone risotto; the rice was cooked perfectly al dente, but the dish was too heavy. The wine list was the best we have experienced in the first 10 nights in Scotland. The service is very professional yet friendly. Entrees run £20-£30 and the three course fixed menu is £42.

There are two Rocpools in Inverness, which is very confusing. I had, inevitably, booked the wrong one. However, when I discovered it was a Roux restaurant, I knew I would be happy. As a long-term Le Gavroche habitué , and a Cromlix regular, I was expecting an excellent meal. However, the overall result was a tad disappointing. Firstly, there was no Creme de Peche, so no Kir Peche. I searched the surprisingly sparse wine list and found a decent Pencarrow NZ Chardonnay at £33. I decided to go with the table d'hôte menu, which was a mistake. The chicken rillette was okay, but had no memorable taste. The pork belly was excellent. The tarte fine de Rebochon was very uninspiring - over cooked flaky pastry with lukewarm cheese on top. Awful.

Tried out Chez Roux for lunch on a quiet mid-week in July while in the area on holiday, I thought it would be quiet but not dead as it was, so straight from the off it felt a bit cold and soulless which was a real shame as would have liked to have seen it with a bit of a buzz about it. Due to that is probably why my wife and I had to walk about aimlessly for a couple of minutes trying to find where to go or find a member of staff as there was no one on the front door. Once we found someone though service was very diligent from start to finish, but could have been a bit friendlier/chatty and felt a bit cold also. Ordered our dishes from the menu along with our wine choice while waiting in the bar area, where we also tried some appetisers/canapés/Amuse Busch (whatever you want to call it) which were very nice and set up lunch quite well. Once finished we were taken through to our table in the main restaurant. Starters soon arrived after with a small break until the main arrived. We both loved our chosen dishes, the food really was excellent along with our wine. It’s not cheap as expected, but it’s not overly expensive although the wine felt a touch pricier than I would have expected in comparison to the food and not many bottles were starting that far south of £30. A slight disappointment is the 10% service fee being added to the bill for just a couple, I would normally tip anyway, just don’t like it being added as standard. Overall, we enjoyed our experience enough and would like to go back for dinner on a busier night.

Welcome is very good with olives, then canapés with your drinks. You'll need these as it was an hour or so after our booking time that we started eating dinner. The canapés were delicious, but for me the evening went downhill after that. Mackerel starter was mediocre at best with beetroot overpowering, the gin cured flavour undetectable and overall a collection of flavours on the plate which didn't 'sing' together. Had a much tastier mackerel pate starter recently at Riva. The rabbit main consisted of something rubbery encasing the meat. Suspicious it was a rind of thick fat. Perhaps this is how it is meant to be but i had to have dessert to get over unenjoyable rabbit dish. The lemon tart was more like it, but we found the strawberry sorbet too sweet. Husband enjoyed his food more, but we are unlikely to return as we genuinely believe we can get more satisfying food elsewhere and without the premium price tag. I've spoken with several 'loca'l friends who were also disappointed and wouldn't bother again.

We were here on Sunday 18 Jun for a 21st birthday meal for my daughter and her friend joined us. We were really looking forward to this as although my husband and I have dined here before, this was her first time and of course it was her celebration so we wanted it to be special for her.And my expectations were all met. Right from the start when you walk through the door, you are made to feel special like all their attention is focused on you.We were shown through to the bar, made comfortable with drinks and nibbles prior to a plate of canapes arriving, perfect appetisers for the meal to follow. The tables are well presented and well-spaced out in the restaurant so you do feel like you’re in your own little group. The food arrives and is a work of art on the plate and the taste experience makes it worth every penny. Between the 4 of us we had a fair selection from the menu and despite the differences in food tastes and expectations the final conclusion was that it was a fantastic meal. Even the bread basket is delicious with the freshly made bread getting its own nod of approval. We have previously sampled the Albert Roux Classic Soufflé starter and Lemon Tart dessert, which probably had something to do with recommending it to my daughter’s friend who was very impressed by both dishes. The soufflé looks larger than the other starters and is so full of cheese flavour you expect it to be a fairly heavy course to eat, but on the contrary. It is so light and somehow practically dissolves in your mouth. No wonder this is a Classic. Between us for main courses we had the steak, guinea fowl and 2 portions of Sea Bream. Perfect. The other 2 desserts we had (along with the Lemon Tart was the Assiette of House Desserts and the Mille Fois, not to be missed. All round a perfect meal. Front of house thanks for their service and attendance and many words of appreciation for the kitchen staff who not only made the whole meal a succession of fantastic food, they also decorated and presented the meal finale of handmade chocolates, jelly and little buttery almond delights with a personalised Happy Birthday message to my daughter. It’s the little personal touch that makes it stand out from the others.

Amazing food, very friendly service, the fish dish is the best I've had in a long time. Would recommend them to improve the wine knowledge. Apart from that a must visit in Inverness

Excellent. Exemplary service. Refined cuisine in the classic French style. We loved the way in which we were taken to a bar area on arrival, where we had an aperitif and amuse bouche provided with the menus from which we made our selections. The timing of service was exquisite. Very soon after we were taken to our tables, our entree arrived and the meal flowed smoothly thereafter. We asked the sommelier to a wine to suit our meal selection. The wine complemented our meal overall and we we noted that it was from the less expensive end of the list. The overall experience was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our night. The food was very good indeed. We left the restaurant having had a superb, refined dining experience complemented by timely but discrete service. One of the very best restaurant experiences we have had worldwide. It was superbly, but humbly delivered in very refined style.

The set menu was like that from a cafeteria. A la carte not much better. Zarzuela came as a lump of squid with bits of shrivelled fish with minimal taste. Lemon tart could have been bought from M&S.

The restaurant is in a boutique hotel a short walk from central Inverness. We booked in advance online but actually on a Monday evening in April it was fairly quiet. We were offered beautifully presented amuse bouche in the bar where we enjoyed gin and tonic. My started cheese souffle was very tasty, the cheese had a beautiful flavor. My main dish of lamb with sweet read ravioli was just delicious.my husbands asparagus starter and rabbit main were also declared to be perfect. We shared a cheese plate for dessert as we were both so full that a dessert wasn't an option... The cheeses were as you would expect mostly local and served with a nice basket of crackers. All the staff were exceptionally friendly but professional. Emily our waitress was delightful. The wine list was good, and not at all overpriced. In fact the whole meal including wine was very reasonable. Rocpool was recommended by a friend who lives nearby and what a great recommendation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rocpool reserve to anyone.

Amazing food, first class service and a relaxed and informal atmosphere. What's not to like about Chez Roux!?!The soufflé starter was stunning, it just melted in your mouth and tasted heavenly. The venison loin main was cooked to perfection, and the accompaniments were equally delicious. The assiette of house desserts was a beautiful way to finish off the meal: gorgeous chocolate fondant; unctuous salted caramel entremet; and the best tasting peanut butter macaron!!! Top marks chefs!High end fine dining without the formality!

Two friends and I had a celebratory dinner here and what a treat. We did not expect it at all.The service was attentive but not formal. The wee extras like the olives and little Spanish corn, then an little canape while we waited in the bar were absolutely charming and made the experience more special and surprising. The restaurant itself is very nice and if you are looking for a romantic evening I'd ask for the table in the window. The food was delicious we were all completely happy. I had the fish option very lightly and delicately cooked absolutely perfect. We opted to share the treo of puds and wow they where delightful. All followed by some handmade chocs. This was a really enjoyable and delicious night I would say price wise Chez Roux is equall to anywhere else you might eat out in Inverness but I think the standard is higher. First time in a while I wasn't disappointed after a meal out and all the little extras makes the experience feel like a real treat.

Very fine dining experience with great staff and fabulous food. Not stuffy but not casual. I would rate this as highly as the Number One restaurant in the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, but at half the price. Well worth a visit for serious foodies in the area or for a special night out that you will remember.

Chez Roux is just what you would expect from a restaurant that the Roux family would put their name to. The ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner out. The service was impeccable and friendly, and the food was beyond our expectations. We were told to arrive 30 minutes prior to our dining time. We ordered a couple of drinks and were given some canapes and nibbles to have whilst we were deciding on our entrées and main courses. The menu is exciting, and to be honest, I would have happily tried everything on it! There are two menus to choose from - a set menu, and an a la carté menu, however, you can choose to have items from either menu.Whether you like fish, game, meat or vegetarian dishes, there's something for everyone, and when booking, we were also asked if we had any specific dietary requirements. We certainly hope to revisit in the not too distant future, and I would heartily recommend this to anyone looking for a special night out!

Unfortunately, I am not the easiest of customers to feed, with a list of allergies and intolerances that usually sees me with the plainest option possible - or missing out entirely - when restaurants are booked. However, as guests at the Rocpool, it was easy to provide the restaurant with all of my information prior to our meal, and the staff and Chef did all they could to assist me without making me feel as awkward as I normally do!Nibbles and cocktails in the bar were followed by canapes - my partner and I received separate but equally delicious creations. Tasty starters, ridiculously succulent main courses (lamb and steak) and the best pudding I have ever eaten made for a perfect evening... though the Peach Bellinis helped as well!It was so worth saving money to do this, and the restaurant itself is beautiful, making for a magical meal. Thanks to all involved!

Me and my fiance decided on Chez Roux when picking a restaraunt to celebrate my birthday on a recent trip to Inverness, and from start to finish we were delighted. The best part of what Chez Roux offer is the experiental side of things. From arriving at least 30 minutes before seating to enjoy a drink in their bar (the Cheeky Chappy beer which I chose was also fantastic) to being brought exquisite canapes to enjoy while perusing the menu and having plenty of time to plan exactly what we both wished to order it's a start that's guaranteed to relax and welcome you. My fiance is gluten intolerant and they were great at offering a fully adjusted menu, as well as serving specific gluten free canapes beforehand, without making us feel like we were being awkward or putting them out in anyway, which is sadly not always the case at other restaurants we have been to. The food was absolutely exquisite, beautifully balanced flavours and textures making each dish a complete experience. The service was attentive without being overwhelming. At the end of the meal there was a slight mistake made on the bill, but this was corrected without undue fuss and we would definitely seek to dine here again if the opportunity arose.

Ironically enough, we had wanted to eat La Gavroche while in London, but could not get a table. To be lucky enough to book a table with Chef Roux was a coup. This 5 star menu with 5 star service in a beautiful, comfortable setting (if a little over the top with the artwork, cartoons and references to Albert Roux everywhere including in the bar that shows NOTHING on their television but a streaming video of the Chef's life's accomplishments). A lovely blend of Scottish/French cuisine

An impromptu visit from a friend led to him wanting to go for dinner on a Sunday evening, so as he's a keen foodie there was only one real option in inverness: Chez Roux at rocpool reserve! The amuse-bouches were delightful, and set the scene for what was to follow. We both opted for the veal sweetbreads for starter, and they were delicious. My friend had the Hake for the main and he thoroughly enjoyed it, I opted for the duck and was equally pleased. Both dishes were cooked to perfection with an array of depth of flavour and stunning presentation. Works of art on the plate!I was the only one who had room for dessert and had the callebaut dark chocolate cheesecake. It was absolutely amazing! The service was on par with the quality of the food, absolutely perfect. Well done chez roux!!!

From the quirky canapes to the lamb or the souffle or the soup (it goes by a fancy name) to the salmon or just about anything on the menu, outstanding. The wine list is not extensive, but more than adequate, we don't drink much, so experts may disagree here. The service is perfectly balanced, professional, polite, but also friendly.Five nights in the hotel, five nights in the restaurant. Not one dish was below good, most were excellent and a couple were beyond superb.

Excellent service in this very smart boutique hotel - everything very friendly and relaxed. Special praise to the young man from Lewis in the bar. The food was delicious - the souffle starter was to beautiful, and the dessert (a wonderful concoction including whisky jelly/flapjack/strawberry cranachan) was to die for. After some confusion with the name (there is a Rocpool restaurant at Inverness as well, not to be mistaken with this one at the Rocpool Reserve Hotel), here's a hotel dining experience with great food and service, but maybe with too few and expensive wine options to match the food quality. Great soufflé and lamb, recommended.

We had a fabulous meal!! I'm shocked that Inverness could produce such a lovely dining experience and the cost was a fraction of what it deserves. The staff was well trained and each and everything we ordered was outstanding. It's a shame we are only in Inverness one night, otherwise we agreed we would return for a second meal. So thrilled we decided on Chez Roux even though we stayed at Kingsmill down the street. Free parking a huge bonus. As a New Yorker of many years I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world. This has got to be the best in Scotland. It's almost too high end for Inverness (no offense to the locals) Just excellent !!

Well, in summary, the service was quite amateurish and the food on the bland side. I don't know where the 5 star reviews on trip adviser come from, unless we got the 3rd string chef on the Sunday we visited??Lets start with the fact this is supposed to be a fine dining experience in a so called 5 star hotel. We arrived and were greeted politely. We took our seats in the bar and a drinks order was taken by the head waiter. Someone else brought the drinks over, 3 gin and tonic and one ginger beer. The glasses were placed in front of us and an assumption made by the waiter as to who was having the ginger beer. Wrong guess!!! In what book of customer service does it state you just guess which of 4 customers is on the different drink?? You might think this is a small thing, but we sat astounded that someone would do that, guessing such a thing, in this sort of establishment. We could have said something but we were speechless really. There were another couple of niggles through the evening with service, but it's then worth mentioning that at the end of the evening the payment was made by us and as the card was brought back to us the head waiter immediately looked at my wife and said "I'll get your coat", even although we were still seated and comfortable. He brought the coat through and just handed it to her while she was still seated, he then said goodnight and left. I have never experienced the like before! When we did get up to leave there was nobody around to thank us or see us out. 4 staff we had seen during the evening had vanished and nobody had kept and eye out for us going. Extremely poor service given the fact this is riding on the back of the name Albert Roux and all that might suggest. The food....... well we have certainly eaten much better. It didn't inspire, tingle or delight. To be fair the sweets were good, but the starters and the mains left us completely unimpressed. Bland and uninspiring about covers it. I do think we must have visited while your main chefs were off which is really disappointing, given this was my wife's 50th birthday meal. Our party have sampled a fair bit of fine dining and this just wasn't close to being memorable. If I was Albert Roux, or indeed anybody, and 4 people left my restaurant so uninspired and disappointed with the experience and with no intention of returning then I would be fuming. As an establishment, you need to perk up the food, or drop the Albert Roux link, and you seriously need to up the professionalism with your service. Please come back to me if I can help with that!Biggest gauge of why it's a 2 star rating from me........ we won't be back... and that does disappoint us as we had hoped for so much more.
