Very disappointing..paid £25 for takeaway and just not worth it. .didn't enjoy it at all. Wasn't even wrapped properly...and won't be going back.

Had the seniors special fish & chips plus a cup of tea, great value for money, a good portion of good quality fish and chips served up by a very friendly waitress.

Just had a takeaway fish chips and peas what a meal amazing no wonder they won awards

The restaurant owner's steal the staff's tips, so if you think that you're tipping the waiting staff for their hard work, it's all going in the owner's fat pockets (who think they are the chip shop mafia), even the cash tips. It's shameful on the part of the owners and sad for the employees who are being paid NMW. If the owners are reading this, stop stealing from your employees, it's disgusting and SHAMEFUL!

Lovely staff, sang for my son for his birthday and friendly service. Food was great and we sat in the boat seating so was like being at the seaside! Will definitely return. Make sure you park in the restaurant car park and put your reg in the iPad on arrival to avoid any parking charges.

Food is good, as it should be for the price, service was lacking. Not everything on the menu was available, no calamari, no cake of the day as examples.

Ordered gluten free haddock and chips to take away. Short wait for order but delicious food was worth waiting for! Recommend a visit. I used this handy food outlet again for a gluten free take out meal. Staff were friendly and chatty! Jan 2023. Ordered another takeaway, gluten free. Short wait while it was cooked especially, restaurant must have been busy as car park was full at front, not many waiting for takeaway orders. Saturday May 2023 Enjoyed another takeaway meal, gluten free. Car park was full so restaurant busy but not takeaway section! 20 July 2023 Had an appointment locally so decided to buy lunch before went home. Ordered gluten free fish & chips in box with mushy peas & 2 sausages for my husband. We shared the chips. November 2023 Nothing changed, still very tasty takeaway meals. February 2024 still lovely freshly cooked, gluten free meals!!

Best fish and chips I've ever had. Sit down restaurant or take away. OAP and child portions available. Lovely friendly service. Nice atmosphere amongst the customers too.

Just called in for fish and chips at 8.30pm, after looking at the closing time of 9pm. They refused to serve me, so make sure that you call in at 7pm otherwise you will not get served.

Excellent food. The fish tasted fresh and is cooked well. Unfortunately, the prices have skyrocketed over the past couple of years, which makes it substantially less affordable and less value for money.

Great restaurant, with lovely food and attentive staff. Highly recommend the treacle sponge with custard!

The best fish and chips in Chesterfield

Great place. the food is beautiful we had a mixture of meals from fish and chips which is huge!!! To burgers and cheese and onion fry-it. All the food was delicious and tasted super fresh. Not a huge menu but I’m sure there’s something for everyone on there. We also had a range of drinks from Pepsi max to an IPA and a shandy. Prices are very reasonable for the size of the meals. Free carpark outside too.

We visit here fairly regularly and the food is consistently great. We have never had a bad meal in here. When I visit a fish and chip shop for takeaway I very rarely have the fish, but here, in Chesters, its all about the lovely flakey white fish in crispy batter! The chips are good too! The staff are always polite and helpful. I would highly recommend a visit here for some high quality fish and chips.

Delicious fish and chips and good service. Just had to drop the atmosphere as the place was a bit cold inside. Other than that all was perfect 👌🏼

Service good However the smaller chips and fish £12 very small and couldn't see much diff to the "large" at £14 unfortunately. Smallest chips and curry sauce was £5. Unfortunately not at all good value and the chips were so dry.

Sometimes a bit hit and miss with the food, chips can be a bit 'bitty' but I guess that depends on the size of potatoes and it's a personal choice that I don't like lots of little crispy bits. Fish is lovely but sometimes seems on the small size for the price, but fish prices have risen substantially so it's expected. Always helpful staff and good gluten free options and staff give a confidence of cooking gluten free safely. Shame the loyalty cards were discontinued but understandably maintaining competitive prices is a priority in an increasingly tough industry.

We went for takeaway fish and chips , tasty and cheaper than our usual shop a wait for our meal to be freshly cooked and very nice they were too , good quality good price small car park was a bind , but I would recommend this place to anyone

Stopped in for lunch while running errands nearby and we're glad we did. Friendly staff and mostly pensioner clientele, we were impressed at how tidy and busy the place was for a Thursday lunch. Even better, the food - cheese and onion pie, chicken kebab - was tasty and hot. Our expectations were low and our impressions were high. I can see why it's a local favourite.

Good food, a bit pricey but you get what you pay for I guess, cod and chips were nice enough, calimari was too, kebabs were good aswell. Wasn't over busy but felt like everyone had to whisper, no atmosphere and was happy to leave, which is a shame as we called for a pudding from the shop on the way home instead.

Fabulous fish and chips and the best battered sausage I've ever had, and that's saying a lot cos I'm from Bradford Loved the chilled out atmosphere The staff were friendly and attentive Will be going back the next time I'm in Chesterfield and can definitely recommend it

Gluten free very nice . My daughter though not bad but big chip on edge of dinner plate which should not have left kitchen .But I don't think they were bothered about it .I personally would have sent it back but as my daughter was taking me out for dinner not much fuss was made of it.

The food was perfect. As good or better than going to the seafront. Perfectly cooked crispy and soft chips, with amazing fresh fish, really good size as well. Was a little noisy for a quiet meal, but it's definitely the place for a family outing or a couple. We are definitely going back and becoming regulars.

Fish and chips is always exceptional at Chesters which is why we keep coming back for our (sometimes) weekly treat. The staff are exceptional and the service is fantastic and even when there is a queue, they seem to remember us and even remember our regular order that can switch between plaice or haddock depending on what I am in the mood for 😋 Thank you everyone at Chesters!

What has happened last twice seem to have gone downhill, fish doesn't seem fresh and that and now soggy chips. May see what's on offer elsewhere after 12 yrs.

Had takeaway lunch from here today, delicious 😋 Best chippy ever been too.

We ordered a small meal after coming out of the pub. My partner ordered a fishcake and received a fish rissole (totally different). There was no mention on the menu that she should have ordered a Yorkshire Fishcake, and to add to it the staff were sniggering as they served her, clearly knowing that she was going to get the wrong thing. And when the order was read back to us it was muttered as not a Yorkshire fishcake. The food was dry and lacklustre, and WAY OVERPRICED. DO NOT SHOP HERE, save your money for a proper fish and chip shop.

The only complaint, as such, about this place, is that the portion sizes are enormous. Even a small chips is enormous. Great food and service though.

Very expensive. Called after the match and was charged £4.50 for a portion of chips and beans. I won't be calling again.

Food tasted fine but very disappointing portion size for chips. You get more chips from McDonald’s across the road for a much smaller price too. Recieved less than a handful of cheesy chips for £4.50. Also, had about 5 flakes of cheese on all at the bottom of the box therefore none of the chips were actually cheesy.

First and last visit today. Disappointed

First visit to Chesters last night and I can see why there are so many positive reviews! The gluten free batter was perfect. Very crispy and a pleasant change from the usual gluten free batter we see in other establishments. They could even offer a vegan mayo to my wife when we asked who is intolerant to egg. Above and beyond! Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone but particularly for their gluten free choices which were amazing. Keep up the good work!

Absolute game changer for me a drive thru chippy I went Friday evening with my dad he said it was excellent you can tell they thought it through and done everything right the future is bright

28 07 23. We are more or less regulars at the chesterfield resteraunt and normally have gluten free haddock which is amazing. Today I had the fish pie and wow this has to be the best fish pie I've ever had. This needs to be put up for an award. It still is and will always be our favourite place to eat. They deserve every success that comes their way. Congratulations on the new resteraunt also. From Gary and Rebecca

Large fish £14 or something daft? Its a large fish cut in half and battered, £40 for 2 meals and a kids are you having a laugh? NEVER AGAIN disgusting got to fund expansion by ripping people off who been coming for years never use to be so pathetic. It was a takeaway not an eat in I would expect to pay even more eating in. I dont even usually leave reviews even bad ones I own various businesses myself but when my partner came back with this for 2 adults and 1 very small kids meal I was fuming I am not short of money but the point of it really made me not enjoy the food one bit.

Excellent eatery for fish and chips. They have extended their fare to kebabs and similar which, although not tried, seems to look good. The fish and chips with all the accoutrements is of the best quality and taste. Service and atmosphere is great with a family dining experience. If I had to give a (unfair?) gripe over the last few years it would be that the fish portions were much bigger in the past but now more pedestrian.

This plane is lovely, great atmosphere and very clean good music on too. Value for money can tell it's all fresh cooked and fresh fish..the two ladies in today was both lovely couldn't do enough for us. Our server was Debbie this plane should be so happy of great staff.

The whitebait was superb, and those who had the ice-cream sundaes said they were the best they had ever tasted. The service was slow and we had to wait a long time for the bill but they were very busy. All in all we enjoyed it very much.

Brilliant fish and chips shop and restaurant, Up there with the best in the uk.

Everyone rates this place, so thought I would give it one more try as it's the closest to me.had to wait 7 minutes from ordering my take away no prob, but not as good as our usual north sea fish and chips sorry

It must have been an off day. Chips very greasy and lots of really bad ones. Didn't get what I ordered. Very busy.

Poor value for money. My regular fish in the box meal was barely a mini fish. £9 very expensive. The fishcake meal was def not worth £6. Rubbish frozen fishcake.

Dined here on 2nd June 2023 to celebrate my wife's birthday. We've eaten here several times before and have never been disappointed. Food is excellent, served hot in good portions and the staff are friendly and attentive but professional. We were able to enjoy a relaxing meal as usual. Definitely in our top 3 places to eat in the local area.

Really busy chip shop no surprise though as the food is 5* for fish and chips large portions for those that like to fill up lovely for chicken donner kebabs too

Take away. Heard so much about this place. Was looking forward to finally eating something from here. Staff very friendly and welcoming. The take out area was spotlessly clean. Fish was cooked to order. Which is great. Unfortunately the fish was a little greasy but it was perfectly cooked. Greasy fish was probably due to being cooked fresh...I let that slide. So not a big issue. But the chips were very soggy and a little under done. Hence there mark down. I'll go back. Maybe just a bad chip day

My friend treated me to lunch today as its almost 3 years since we could get together. I had never been to Chester's before and was kicking myself for missing out on such fantastic fish and chips. Amazing food. I was so stuffed I couldn't find room for a dessert. I highly recommend it. Edit 12/05/2023 Treated to a birthday meal tonight. I had seabass which was absolutely divine. Was very naughty and had the Chester's sundae for dessert and am now in a fine food coma. Utterly wonderful. Can't recommend it enough. I will definitely be there again.

This is our closest fish and chip shop but we don't go that often as its so expensive now. Ordered x2 fish box meals and the fish in one was tiny. I always think the chips are odd as they are steak cut. Honestly were disappointed on this occasion.
