Enjoyed a superb take away from Cherry Trees yesterday. I have always enjoyed the food here but this was first class. If you want fresh tasting food, carefully prepared and presented, off an interesting menu, then look no further than the friendly people at Cherry Trees. They are on the top of their game at the moment.

Living away from home at the moment, our weekly weekend treat is a takeaway from Cherry Trees. Fantastic food and service - the food is always hot, top quality tender lamb, (dhansak and pathia are favourites), arrives on the dot of delivery time, pay by card at the front door. Brilliant.

This is my go to Indian takeaway as its great value and the curry is delicious and not greasy at all. Sometimes you get Indian takeaways and there is a layer of oil on the curry, but here that has never been close to the case. Get a takeaway from here regularly and have eaten in a few times, never had a bad meal!

Chose this restaurant as a conveniently situated meeting place for the family coming from different directions. We were all very impressed from the moment we entered with the welcome and the beautifully laid out tables with starched napery etc. We were there for a Sunday buffet as we thought that would suit our family group which included a vegetarian and a gluten free - who was delighted that chick pea flour was used in everything but the naan bread so could eat what he liked. We all had an excellent meal of a very high quality - one member of our family said it was the best Indian meal he had ever had! I cannot think of anything to criticise - the welcome, the staff, the service and above all the food were all excellent. We shall certainly be back.

The last time I went to the Cherry Trees it was a pub and I got food poisoning from some Lincolnshire sausages.I suppose this is probably why, after all these years living in the village, I’ve never been back there. The reader may not be aware but gastroenteritis isn’t the most pleasant illness and 25 years later the memories, as a child, of being pinned to the toilet for three days linger in the back of my mind; exploding (no pun intended) to the forefront every time the name ‘Cherry Trees’ is mentioned. One can understand why I was apprehensive when the family and I went for the Sunday buffet and Shatkora was on offer as one of the dishes. However, all jokes aside, the Cherry Trees pub became an Indian some time after the above and has changed hands several times since. The buffet was excellent and the staff friendly and professional. At £11 per head (£6 something for children) it was a very good price for the quality of the food. Will be back!

We met friends here for a curry. We have never been here before. The staff were not on the ball and one waiter seemed almost shy! We ordered drinks and curries. I have been eating curries nearly almost all my life so I do not think I have a bad tongue for taste? I had a prawn puree to start with, which was just passable and friends had onion bhajees. For some stupid reason I ordered a king prawn masala. Bad choice! The sauce was thick orange sludge that is all I can say with these shrivelled up things in it. They could of been snails for all I knew. Awful, awful. As our friends were paying and they are the best, I kept my mouth closed which is a first! When my husband I got in our car to go home, the first thing he asked was, what my curry like as his was the worst ever. The conclusion of this is: the worst curry we have eaten,

Without exaggerating this is probably the best Indian restaurant in Hertfordshire. We have been visiting for a number of years at least once a week and it never fails to impress. The food is excellent and impeccably served by the staff who are friendly without being overbearing. The gourmet night meal is excellent value for money and is enough for the largest appetite, while the sunday buffet provides a large variety of traditional indian dishes that should suit everybody. There is large, airy conservatory that seats about 40 and the rest consists of well spaced out tables for those preferring a quieter meal. A takeaway service is also provided with delivery to local areas an option. All in all a well-run restaurant and a credit to its manager and staff, we will return soon!

Only downside is choice, now please don't get me wrong there is a few dishes to try but not many. We have been going here for many years and cannot recall ever being disappointed. Not having been for a while we went on a Sunday evening and were pleasantly surprised to see that they still serve what they call a Banquet (Sun to Thurs) for the princely sum of £7.99. This will get you a Main, Side and Rice or Naan. For the two of us with 2 large Cobra beers and 2 glasses of reasonable quality house wine the bill with a tip came to a very reasonable £40.I had Jalfrezi and other half had a Balti and both were very good. My Jalfrezi had a decent kick to it without being too hot. It's a shame that the menu does not indicate how hot the dishes are with some sort of symbol as many other Indian restaurants do. They do have a narrative againt each item describing the item and how hot it is but I think a series of symbols in addition would make it easier to home in on the hot or mild items depending on your taste.I saw in an earlier review that the FSA Hygiene rating was only 2 and have just checked to find that it is sadly still only 2. I think the owners need to take a look at this as I'm sure quite a few people would be put off by this if they knew. Hopefully local authorities will soon make the presentation of the rating apparent in the premises mandatory as I will now worry as to whether I need to take my custom elsewhere if the restaurant is toying with my health.Despite the restaurant being reasonly busy on a Sunday night, serviec was good and fairly quick.PS I wouldn't bother with a takeaway from here as it really doesn't seem to come from the same kitchen. Chalk and Cheese !!

I have some friends who swear by this place, but to be honest I always thought it looked a little shabby. Never judge a book by its cover, the proverb says, and quite rightly so.Inside is clean tidy, with good tableware, not in keeping with a eat as much as you like buffet restaurant, but this is not that type of place, it just happens to offer that on a Sunday lunchtime. Great value, with a good selection of dishes, including prawn, chicken and lamb curries, vegetarians are not left out either. I only managed three visits to the food bar, but others in our party felt that four or five visits were required to sample so many great tasting dishes. The king prawn special is delicious; incredibly meaty, almost mini lobsters are delivered in a lovely savoury sauce. They deliver in about an hour in Friday/Saturday nights so as long as you allow for this you won't be disappointed!

We have been coming to Cherry Tree for donkey's years and tried some other local curries but nothing come close to this amazing food. Very friendly stuff, helpful, place is clean and atmosphere is pleasant. We highly recommend it. Great take away food too. Thank you!

I have been going to the Cherry Tree for years and it is by far the best Indian restaurant in the Harpenden area. I have one other favourite which is in the Wellington street area of Luton but whenever I go there I come out with a headache due to the excessive noise and the frantic atmosphere, while in the Cherry Tree you can really relax and enjoy a lovely meal in the company of friends. We went there again last night and the food, service and the atmosphere was delightful as always. To top it all, the bill came under £20 per person which was extremely reasonable considering the food and drinks we've ordered.

First visit here after a lot of hyping up from a friend who visits regularly. We were seated in the conservatory, which was lovely. Drinks and poppadoms order taken and arrived quickly.I chose the £7.95 menu and asked if I could swap a side for a starter instead. I was told 'no' straight away, whereas my friend was told she could have the onion bhajis from the starters instead of her side. I wasn't told this was an option, just told 'no' I couldn't swap. Found this a bit odd, and also that the guy could have explained.Besides that, it was all good. Food was quite nice and too greasy. Reasonably priced.

We had a nice table in the conservatory. Service was attentive but not overbearing. We ordered from the banquet which was very good value and just the right amount of food. Our food was fresh and tasty and with two large drinks the bill still came to less than £30 for two. We would definitely return, our only concern is why this restaurant is not more popular.

We turned up on a Saturday evening and were shown to a nice table in the conservatory, we had poppadum's as we perused the menu, then we had starters of sheek kebabs and tandoori chicken and then mains of Lamb Rogan and Lamb Bhuna with plain rice and naan bread. The whole meal was lovely and perfectly cooked and there was a nice gap between courses, the bill was really reasonable and we would definitely go back for the food, the only reason I didn't give this review a five star was that the staff were indifferent, unfriendly and didn't even smile.

I've driven past this place many times but finally gave it a go as a precursor to going to a gig at a nearby pub. We had a table in the Conservatory at the rear of the building and I'd certainly recommend it if available.I tried my usual Chicken Jalfrezi and my veggie friend had something I can't remember the name of, but both were very fresh, very tasty and nicely hot. Will definitely be giving the place another go.

At short notice and with no prior booking went around 8 pm. At the beginning of the week the restaurant was quiet and we were seated in the corner of the conservatory. Service was prompt and helpful and we all opted to order from the banquet night options, available - I think - Sunday to Thursday. All the food was hot, well cooked and tasty and chosen from an extensive menu and with wine and beers the total cost, excluding tip of around £47 was good value. Happy to recommend.

Been meaning to try this place for years. Finally got the chance when a friend had her 50 birthday there. The food was really good and I'd love to go back (my kids aren't so keen on curry so it might be a while before I get the chance) I have no idea about price as the birthday girl picked up the bill.

We have eaten here on and off for a few years and it seems the food (quality and presentation) has improved, so much so that we are eating here more often. The service is usually very good (although was slow the night we went) and the house red wine is quite nice. The conservatory is the nicest area to sit and it feels good value for quality food and experience. We also very much like the small shot glass of baileys and ice together with an After Eight Mint!

Had a takeaway from here tonight, one of the main meals contained an elastic band. Phoned the restaurant who seemed completely indifferent to this news. Photo attached.

Six of us visited on a midweek evening. Absolutely no welcome from the waiters. Shown to a table in a conservatory which was to put it mildly stark. Drinks arrived quickly. A long wait between starters and main courses. When food was 'dumped down' and that's the only word for it by the sullen waiter he couldn't even be bothered to say what each was, I assume so that he didn't have to go to the extra effort of putting the appropriate dish in front of the correct person. Have marked as average only because the food was nice, not great but nice, certainly based on service the score would be terrible. Then to cap it all I left a good tip - why oh why do we sometimes do that!

Just had our first takeaway from The Cherry Tree. Excellent food, nicely spiced. A point deducted though because it wasn't piping hot by the time it reached us.

Great place for a Sunday buffet with a good selection of starters followed by very good main dishes, some medium hot some very spicy there are labels on the trays to tell you what is on offer. the main menu has a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The main seating is in the conservatory which can get hot on sunny days there is more seating at the front which is cooler. Staff are very good food is very good prices are reasonable.

Had a really nice curry hear, staff are friendly, the food was nice and they were happy to make a take away bag up as we had so much left over and threw in a couple of popadoms to go with it. All in all a nice place to go but not the easiest if you want to drink alcohol. I will be going again.

We decided we were going to get a curry delivered on a Saturday night and fancied a change of restaurant. I have been recommended a number of times recently to try the Cherry Trees and thought I would give it a try. I can say that we had a great meal, they did not lie and the food turned up when they said it would, it was cooked perfectly and it was also very reasonably priced. I would most probably chose this over my regular place from now on!! From my understanding they deliver within a 3 mile radius!!
