this place is fantastic. the food is absolutely awesome. there are all you can eat options and you even get to cook the steaks yourself at your table. the staff are so nice, accommodating and friendly too. this is my second visit and definitely not my last, always leave happy and full up.

If ur coming for a visit here in Bury St Edmunds and want to eat steak. This is a must go! U can order ur steak on a hot stone and a choice with fries, rice or salad apart! Worth every penny! They also have salmon which was really tasty! (I tried it before having my steak). I will remember this place!!

Visited this place whilst staying in bury st Edmund’s on a night away. It was a Thursday and we were drawn in by the trip advisor reviews, which are mostly all 5 star! This is rare so thought we’d better check it out. We were greeted by the very helpful staff who immediately seated us at a table. The restaurant does have a normal, small a la carte menu, which mainly focussed on steak with a few other options for vegetarians etc. They also offer a fixed menu where you pay around £30 each and you get starters and then you get steak, chips, coleslaw, rice and soft drinks or sangria. This is all unlimited (including the steak and drink) they keep bringing you more if and when you need it. The most interesting part (which some might not like, but I loved it), you cook the steak yourself using a hot stone in the middle of the table.. this is a really cool little gimmick that means you can all have the steak cooked exactly how you want it. For those interested, I believe the steak was rump and it was really well seasoned and tenderised, so it melted in the mouth. The staff were very attentive all night, spotting when we had run out of any food and then offering more.. means you’re not having to awkwardly flag down a waiter all the time. All in all, great experience. If I’m ever in the area again.. I’ll definitely come back.

Meat... And lots of it! That is the best way to summarise our trip to Cheers. As a party of 7, we had 3 plated meals (Chicken, Salmon and Sirloin) and 4 Rump steak on stone meals where it's unlimited steak but the accompanying fries, rice, beans and coleslaw fills the table. All really good quality, as expected afew bits of the meat were a little gristly but the majority was all decent stuff and for the amount of food, at <£20, you get great value for money with the fun element of cooking it yourself too. If we were to return, we would probably mix it up a little and have steak on stone in addition to another person having Haloumi. Service was really good, empty dishes cleared quickly, meat topped up for cooking, drinks supplied, etc, all great service. Only negative comment is the smoke from the stone frying lingers upstairs and does sting your eyes a little. Alot better circulation downstairs but upstairs is noticeable so for those with Asthma or eye issues, best to request a downstairs table! Highly recommend and would return for sure

Favourite restaurant in Suffolk by far, absolutely great service all staff equally as good as one another which is very rare, recommend the £30.50 Meal deal, unlimited food for a great price gave 4 stars for food as you get a range of different cuts of steak some much better than others but either way it tastes good.

Amazing. Need some sort of ventilation in there though. The smoke from everyone's steak cooking was getting on my chest.

Food was epic, we ordered the steaks on the stone. The staff is also very friendly and kept coming to the table to see whether we needed anything. We will definitely come back.

All you can eat steak. Possibly not the very best cuts, but still perfectly nice. Will go again. :-)

Excellent service at a reasonable price.

Complete disappointment. Room with filled with acrid smoke from the “stone cooked” steaks. Waiter opened a window for some fresh air, too bad it was obviously too cold with people covering up because of the draft. My “cheers steak” was absolutely full of gristle and under seasoned. Couldn’t be saved with the goopy gravy-granule “sauce.” My friend ordered the fillet. Out came the stone. He didn’t ask for the cook it yourself option. Didn’t even have salt on the meat, but we did have little disposable sachets on the table. He offered ketchup for the soggy chips. Out come the sachets again. Felt like a takeaway. I would be embarrassed if I cooked something like this at home for guests. Totally baffled by the high marks this place has gotten.

Food was very nice , all I can say it was very noisy in there, not only the customers were loud , even the staff was . Alsi very smoky in there, my eyes were burning so bad.

Highly recommend this place. Steak was amazing

I had the T bone steak here, it was cooked to perfection of how I like it. It was also a beast of a steak. But do not expect all the usual sides with this, I was offered rice or chips, to which I went with the chips as rice seemed a bit weird. With black beans. That was it. It felt unaccompanied. However, the service offered here by the staff was exceptional, hugely warm & professional. Thank you.

We were there last night and the experience of eating in this restaurant was amazing. We had the set menu, the starter was like tapas and kept coming until you said to stop. The steak was tender and fun to cook on the hot stone, like the starter you could have more meat until you had had enough. The staff were friendly and very efficient. Highly recommended this restaurant, already booked again for when our friends are visiting next month.

We've been to Cheers numerous times and it's a great experience if you love meat, and they do have other options/dishes if you don't. Staff are always super friendly and welcoming. Do book ahead as it can get busy. Highly recommend the garlic prawns (unless you've got a meeting or visiting your dentist the next day!).

Aug 2023 A last supper before taking eldest son back to uni tomorrow. Reasonably busy for a Thursday evening but easy enough to get booked in. The atmosphere was good and the service couldn't be faulted. Quickly seated and regular attention at the table. Went for the "all you can eat" steak option for just over £30 per head. Reasonable steak, but not always the best. Often quite gristly, but it does keep coming if you keep eating. Cooking on a hot stone on your table is fun and adds to the sociable nature of the restaurant. Have been before and will come again.

Mmm this is a tough review as the staff are faultless. Prawns and muscles starter excellent, very tasty. Cheritho, a bit chewy and fatty. Steak, sorry guys not very nice tasting, too much salt and pepper, cheap cuts with no decent steak taste as such, odd bits are nice. Great concept, love supply of red wine and sangria. But steak a big let down, which was the main point of going. If u want to fill your belly, with some nice food, go ahead, but if your expecting more of a good steak, then not for me! Great service, all dishes popped up at speed. Waitresses are lovely.

Beautiful place, heard plenty about this restaurant so had to visit, had a birthday meal out, lovely food, drinks, will visit again.

Very authentic if you've ever been to Portugal. Great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful. Amazing food. Not good to go to if you have a vegetarian or vegan in your party as there are next to no veggie options. Can be quite slow to bring out more food, could benefit from larger serving dishes of the rice/beans especially if you are sharing one stone between 4 people. There is often not enough room on the table though! There is only one toilet which is a shame and can cause you to awkwardly wait for a while. House wine is very low quality but sangria is great! You will have an almost identical experience in the Thetford branch.

Oh so delicious! The starters were amazing and the steak was juicy and perfectly seasoned. Very good value. Will most definitely come again and can’t recommend enough! The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Service good, food flows, steak tasty, sangria not particularly alcoholic but fruity and pleasant. Desserts limited but not sure you need one after the main anyway. Can be noisy.

Nice as its unlimited wine etc I have to say there is no sauce available with your dinner and that sides are limited, with a small amount of coleslaw. Maybe a side salad would go well or some more sauce 🤔 😋

Me and my fiancé went there for my birthday, I ordered the salmon and he ordered the unlimited rump steak we both got a starter of bread. The bread was absolutely lovely, when we got our mains my salmon was dry and the vegetables around it were so salty and mushy. The waiter was a little bit rude as they asked my fiancé if he wants more steak and he said no so they took his hot stone (used for cooking the steak) without asking then we finished our mains are were eating the portion of chips they gave us and they took our plates then took everything else without asking aswell.

Poor experience overall, surprised this place has such a high rating. As we sat down upstairs, there was loud music being played from a speaker right by the table. Think 'top hits' playlist. We asked for the music to be turned down, which it was slightly. Waiter appeared surprised when we asked to see the menu instead of the two specials options, then surprised again when after she asked for our drinks order we asked for the wine menu. When the food arrived, two T bone steaks with fries, the steaks were cold and the meat low quality for a steak costing nearly £20. Perhaps we would have had a better time if we'd cooked the steaks ourselves on hot stones like our fellow diners! If you want a good steak, avoid this place.

Never been before, was a bit worried about it with 10 of us going. But it was great from start to finish. Food drink staff could not fault anything.

Steak can vary on quality. I think it depends on the cut. I think things have gone a little slack. Cold bread rolls. And I certainly think they need to put the coleslaw in a bigger bowl and I won't keep having to ask. The staff are great. On point and working hard to make my belly full

I was taken here for my birthday and choose the grilled salmon. It’s really not hard to cook salmon but it was over cooked and dry. “New potatoes” were tainted and were replaced with a batch that tasted worse. I was told they were freshly cooked but the replacements arrived in 5 minutes? Young waiter has worked there for 2 weeks and was very helpful.

Fantastic food my wife had salmon and I had sirloin steak could not fault the food and the service was excellent. Go you will not be disappointed

Prawns, chicken and mushroom sauce were good. Salad existed of just bagged leaves and could have benefited from a wash. Potatoes looked like they were from a tin. The youngest male waiter was very attentive. Top marks to him for recovering his colleagues mistakes.

I liked the restaurant. You cook the steak at the table. Reasonably priced, we had 7, all enjoyed the food. Which is saying something because most of the food in England is blah compared to America.

We were a table of four and all had the same opinion, the concept is excellent, the staff very good, friendly and hlepful, would i return? - unfortunately not, the quality and execution of the food was below average, the Bread was frozen Par-baked rolls which are the cheapest you can buy, i would swap this for baskets of artisan cut breads and baguettes, the butter was hard, too chilled and could not be spread, dont keep it in the fridge, the prawns were very cold, a little overcooked which is the supplier of the prawns not the restaurant, i would find a new supply or even cook them myself and offer some dips, the rice and beans didnt look anything special or particularly appetising, very bland, the steak slices where quite thin and varied in tenderness, more tough than tender, lots of poeple are giving it 5 stars🤷‍♂️ maybe i am in the wrong or maybe just expect slightly higher standards

Go for the hot stone as that seems to be what they do best. Anything else off the menu just isn't cooked properly. My T-bone was 3 different cooked temps. The salad is something you'd expect at a cheap diner. 1 tomato cut in 4, shredded lettuce and shredded carrots screams that it came out of a bag. The salmon was dry and not seasoned at all. Ordered mussels, they brought shrimp (the mussels did finally come). The fries and water were the best bits. I did speak with mgmt (lovely woman) and she removed the mussels from the bill and gave us 10% off. We may give the hot stone a go.

Great place, I got the special; all you can eat meat and wine. Servers are awesome and you won't even notice them quickly filling up your plates with more meat and drinks.

Excellent steak on the stone tonight . Very good value . Staff so helpful and couldn't do enough to make sure everything was ok . Portuguese influence with Superboch , monte verde red wine , and rice , chips and black beans served with steak . Highly recommend

The service and atmosphere was great, and the food was spectacular. Waitress was very attentive and curious about our thoughts throughout the meal, and the hot stone was a fun departure from the norm. The food was a bit pricey, but it is worth the cost!
