Very good food and service in a lovely 1940s themed restaurant. The food is pricey, but the whole experience makes up for it if going for a special occasion.

Talented people doing things they love with passion, every mouthful of food and drink was a genuine delight. Will definitely be back (when the bank balance recovers, quality like this costs).

To describe the food as ‘amazing’ would surely be an understatement: the flavours were unbelievable and everything was cooked to perfection. On the plate, the food was presented as an artform, and served with great care by highly attentive staff. It was the combination of flavours, presentation, and service that made for an unforgettable experience.

We had the most amazing tasting menu meal at Cheal’s. We loved every mouthful and are already planning our next visit. The staff could not have been more accommodating and as I am pregnant they adapted the menu where appropriate so that I could still enjoy every course.

I always enjoy my visits to this place, the service is exemplary and the food is always to the highest standard. My friend and I have visited a few times and the waiting staff had remembered us which I think is a really nice touch to the experience. Cheals is the perfect place for a celebratory meal with family, friends or for special occasions!

We visited the Restaurant on the 21 March with friends and the outstanding comment was that we must go again all the party could not praise the whole experience more.

Had been to the 'old' Cheals 4x but not since you have moved. We really liked the interior and ambiance, and the 4 person 'booth'. We enjoyed all our food (although, maybe personal taste, I wasn't so keen on the halibut sauce). The sticky toffee souffle was delicious though! I thought the carafe of wine was a little over-prriced but we had a very good evening overall. Thank you.

We were a party of 5 for lunch. Having not been there before we didn't know what to expect. What a fabulous surprise we had! Great decor, great service, fabulous food! A real treat! Thoroughly recommend this restaurant to any one looking for the finer side of dining 👍

Food and wine was great and really enjoyable (we had the tasting menu with the flight of wine) I just wanted more sauce with my meat course! The staff were really attentive (perhaps a bit more time between courses?). On atmosphere I'm only giving 4 stars as the interior is a bit strange and its not clear what the identity of Cheals is as a result - I believe they inherited the restaurant fit out from the previous operator, but it is very odd and not very "current" in style. And I hit my head on the spitfire hanging from the ceiling several times and I'm not that tall - but why is there a spitfire hanging from the ceiling??

We had a lovely time. Staff were very friendly and explained all about what we were being served. The food was excellent and all in a lovely environment. We will be back

Cheals seems to have lifted it’s already superb food another notch in this superb venue. The venue is classy, lovely staff, not stuffy and most importantly now the food is superb (not sure how Cheals did not get a m.star before given this quality). The taster menu had good portion sizes (not too small) and the bread and chefs additional courses made for a good value menu (of this quality). Clearly it’s a lot of money for a day to day meal but they have cheaper options and a big variety of options away from just the taster menu. So we will try a lighter lunch etc soon. Highly recommend this, and particularly impressed given it was only their second night open. The bar area was comfortable before hand (book ahead) and the wine flight we chose was generous and well matched. We will be back very soon. We wish you all the best and well done!

Fabulous dining experience. The afternoon tea was very special; our favourite, the lobster brioche. Alongside, the staff were very attentive and made it a lovely afternoon.

Second Afternoon Tea, this time for my teenage daughter. She loved the elevated and modern twist on this classic. Our favourite - the salmon, hollandaise and caviar tart (and I don’t like fish, this says something!). Staff were really lovely and attentive. And - don’t laugh - we also loved the wonderful Trellis crockery… luxury!

The Bar dining experience was enjoyable and very comfortable for us both ,with an extremely high spec surrounding including furniture decor and all glasses and cutlery and of course food presentation was impressive. Service was slow but very professional. Both Drinks and food menu were hard to read in the very dim lighting . Maybe the txt on the menu could be made darker to help . We noticed most tables using a phone torch to highlight the menu which was amusing . We would recommend highly to visit . Thank you to Cheals for making our Valentine evening.

Is there a greater word than magnificent?! If so, I’m happy to use it to describe our experience at Cheal’s as always. Cocktails and canapés was our chosen menu last week, having not sampled before! It was amazing. The vibe in Warrens bar set the tone straight away, the cocktails matched the exquisite canapés perfectly and to get my personal favourite the whiskey old fashioned was the cherry on the cake! Keep it up Cheal’s, we are lucky to have you on our village… how the place doesn’t have a Michelin star yet is beyond me!

The food here is amazing but not as amazing as Kiki is. She’s the best waitress and manager hands down.

Dined here for the first time last night and only one word describes the experience WOW!! From the moment we walked in until we left not one thing could be criticised. The Decor is stunning and welcoming. The staff were attentive and professional, they took time to explain everything but you never felt like you were being rushed. Oh my goodness the food, well quite possibly the best meal we have ever eaten. The steak cut like butter and the lobster rolls my husband tells me were to die for. If you haven’t been put it at the top of your list. We will definitely be back 🥂🥂

Revised to reflect latest visit. From the street entrance to the dining room on the first floor there was more than a hint of a fine dining venue. The service was immaculate, being efficient and unobtrusive. Finally the food. The canapés and the amuse bouche and starters were a delight. Light and tasty parmesan foam was noteworthy as was my quail. I selected the T-bone special and my wife the red deer. Both entres were cooked to perfection. Desserts seem not to be a strong point. They are adequate and tasty but not inspiring. Have now added Cheals to our list.

First rate in every way. Each portion of food was exquisite to look at and a delight to eat. Many intense flavours. The cauliflower amuse- bouche and the rhubarb and ginger mousse were my highlights.

Always a joy to eat at Cheal’s. The staff are welcoming, friendly & helpful. The food is amazing. I love the 2 little extra courses, they showcase the talent of the chef. Warren’s Bar is fab too, with a small menu available at certain times.

The four of us had a delicious lunch on Saturday. My brill and lobster dish was wonderful and my fellow diners said that the venison , duck and the vegetarian dishes respectively were delicious. My daughter in law was particularly pleased with the vegetarian options. We had a really enjoyable experience.

Both my husband and I appreciate good food. It was our first visit to Cheals restaurant but will not be the last. We were met by a pleasant young man who showed us to our table and from there we enjoyed an excellent dining experience. The food was exceptional, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We were well looked after by the knowledgeable restaurant team, who took the time to explain our choice of food. There are less expensive restaurants to choose but for a true dining experience Cheals will not let you down.

So good I'm tempted to remortgage my house to go back!! The tasting menu was simply sensational!! Staff are great and so is the atmosphere!

A big thank you to Liam, the lovely team and exceptional Chef “de force”, Matt Cheal. We effortlessly booked online and received a confirmation asking for any dietary requirements which was excellent as we most often choose to eat vegetarian. We had visited the restaurant several times when it was under Chef Jacques van der Merwe but once he had left, we kind of “forgot” about the place until friends gifted us a voucher. We are over the moon they had as I am not sure when we would have tried out the restaurant under Chef Matt Cheal. Extraordinarily gorgeous and absolutely delicious amuse bouche of varying textures and taste profiles. Just perfect! Vegetarian dishes are outstanding. Ambience is relaxing and the service is ideal; not too much that it is a constant interruption and not too little that you start becoming irate. This is edible art at it's finest! Will be back! PS - just a note after I read one of the other reviews: I have no doubt that the waitstaff would have go out of their way to seat you elsewhere or make you more comfortable but you do need to make them aware if you are not satisfied with any aspect. This goes for everything, don't assume anyone thinks like you do, if they don't know something is amiss, they can't change it.

From the moment we arrived for a drink in the fabulous cocktail bar, to the end of our meal, it was fantastic. Had been before, brought my parents, it was their first time, and they loved it. Will deffo be back.

Wonderful dining experience. Perfect for date night - beautiful drinks lounge, we sat by the fire and enjoyed the English fizz and smoked maple and pecan old fashioned. Every course was absolutely delicious and the service was faultless and friendly - everyone we encountered was knowledgeable and professional. What a treat to have such a special place on our doorstep.

Our visit in December was our second time at Cheal’s for the lunch set menu. As per the first visit the food was delicious and (in contrast to my experience elsewhere) far more interesting and innovative than the menu led me to expect. Thus each course was a delight. Of particular note is the level of service. We were greeted warmly, our coats taken care of and shown to our table in a manner so many places have forgotten. Table service was impeccable- unhurried, friendly and super professional. All in all a wonderful pre-Christmas lunch that was excellent value for money.

Yet another superb visit to Cheal's. There were four of us for lunch and every member of the party thoroughly enjoyed their meal. It was just 2 days after Christmas Day so we all had the three course lunch as we felt that we could not eat any more! Each member of the party chose different courses and all were superb. The atmosphere, service and general ambience was first class. One person who was visiting Cheal's for the first time said that it was the best meal that she had ever eaten but those of us who had visited previously knew what to expect and were certainly not disappointed. Special thanks and praise to Liam who looked after us very professionally from start to finish. We cannot praise Cheal's too highly and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Oh my goodness what a special treat this was. We had the 7 course tasting menu and everything was totally delicious, perfectly presented and delightfully served by all the staff. Cheal’s is without a doubt the finest restaurant in the Solihull/Warwickshire area - both on food and service.

Occasionally treat ourselves to dinner here. Nice relaxed atmosphere and service but serious about tasty food. We would usually have one of the fixed price three course menus which are good value.

Beautiful old building full of character. The service was excellent and the food delightful. Deserves a Michelin star in my view.
