Amazing breakfasts, lunches, iced lattes, ice cream, delicious cakes and quiche, all home made and delicious Have been a weekly regular for a number of years now and wouldn’t go anywhere else! Service is next to none and the only place I know that is meticulous when it comes to cleanliness and covid measures. I highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed. The reviewer who gave a poor review obviously got out of bed on the wrong side, totally unnecessary and very sad to see…..

We pre-booked our Valentine’s afternoon tea the same night Charlie announced them last month - and thank goodness we did because she sold out in a matter of hours! For £40 we received enough sandwiches, scones, cakes and sugary treats to feed 4 of us (and there are still leftovers for supper). We were able to select our sandwich fillings and provide any other information to Charlie, nothing was too much trouble at all. This morning Charlie text to confirm our timings and it arrived as agreed, beautifully presented and with a stunning rose to round everything off. Charlie is an amazing baker, but on top of that she is always smiling and happy to go out of her way to help! If you get the chance to visit her once they can reopen then you really must, but for now I’d totally recommend ordering an afternoon tea for collection, you really won’t be disappointed!

I would say that it is great for popping in if you are on your own, as a couple, or as a family. My friend had a toasted tea cake which is a firm favourite with her. There is a glass dispensing jug with water that is free for you to help yourself. I had a green tea which is served in a gorgeous tea/cup & my friend had a cappuccino........ it looked so good, I definitely had food & drink envy!!!!! There is also more seating outside which I noticed a group of cyclist were using. This is in such a pretty area & I will definitely be coming back to try more food on the menu. Suffering from wheat intolerance, it's great to know that Charlie always has one or two gluten-free options to choose from. They serve some nice homemade stuff. A very relaxed atmosphere. Their cakes are awesome and filling. It was a nice stop to tuck in during the wheathampstead heritage walk.

A small but popular cafe, with lovely well filled sandwiches and melts. Popular with locals (we live nearby) and cyclists / walkers visiting the village

Great breakfast after a long cycle! Very friendly, good food - all freshly prepared. Sat outside in the sunshine with a 'full English'

We found this lovely cafe whilst out on our bikes. Very clean and welcoming staff. We had a great cup of tea and coffee and a delicious toasted tea cake. We'll be cycling past again soon to try a bit more of the menu.

Charlie's is an excellent local cafe which is popular with visitors and locals alike. Food is simple and hearty - bacon sandwiches and the Stilton ploughmans particularly good. Recommended.

Went to Wheathampstead for tea after visting Shaws Corner at Ayot St Lawrence and we wanted a cup of tea. Glad it was open on Bank Holiday. The warm, homemade scones were the best I have had for ages (far better than many of the National Trust scones we have had recently!) and a delicious very hot pot of tea. My husband enjoyed his toasted teacake and carrot cake which were very tasty. Lovely cups and saucers, clean and friendly and reasonably priced. Would certainly go again if we were nearby.

Let me start off with the good: the service was excellent. Our waiting staff were very attentive from the moment we walked in. You can’t fault them in that. However the food was below par for a Michelin starred restaurant, and I don’t feel it was worth the £130. We had the 9 courses and I’d say 2 were good. The rest you could see the potential but it failed to deliver. Some was bland, under seasoned, and some just did not work. I hardly touched my pudding for example, and noticed that some other diners did the same. This left me really disappointed. However, some of the most aggravating things about this experience was the wait between dishes. We were there for 3 hours, and at times we were waiting close to 20-30 mins for the next course. That really wasn’t necessary and just ruined the experience for me. Perhaps if the dishes packed a punch I wouldn’t have minded, but I was getting quite vexed by the end. I won’t be returning unfortunately.

Best Indian restaurant in St Albans. We always feel so welcomed when we go and are always given a fantastic meal which is great value for money. They take allergies really seriously and have plenty of vegan options. I particularly recommend the Red Fort which is an outstanding gingery chicken dish. Plus, Kingfisher on draft!

Poor quality food, we ordered a variety of dishes and it was all bad. The noodles were burnt, the beef with mushroom came in a greasy soup, we couldn't eat the chicken and cashew (it came in the same greasy soup). I would not recommend eating here.

Went to visit for my sons birthday...food was simply delicious and authentic and went down a treat...strongly reccomend the lamb rack...wow !!! The staff couldn't do more to make it a special occasion.... Price was very affordable at less than £40 per head which is cheap for Hertfordshire. Not too keen on the glass dividers put there during covid but we're already planning our next visit.
