Chapter V Restaurant in Dungannon

Warm welcome with open fireplace and smiling waitresses, drinks and ordering food at the fire before we were brought to our table, very good choice of a wide variation of food on the menu wanting us to order and try nearly everything on it. And the 3 courses each of us had were just as good as they sounded, wonderful presentations and taste and portion sizes, simply a wonderful birthday dinner with family, we loved it and will be back.

We enjoyed a meal with our 6 year old as follows: Starters: Scallops, goats cheese, kids cheesy garlic bread Main course: Hake, spring green risotto, kids steak and chips Dessert: sticky toffee apple pudding and kids chocolate brownie. The food was excellent, so much so that my picky 6 year old cleaned all 3 courses! The attention to detail and the friendliness of the staff made the meal so much more special. Special thanks to Ellie and Karolina. We absolutely loved our dining experience and will definitely be back. Beautiful surroundings with special touches /10.

We had booked for a pre-Mothers day lunch. The decor was very relaxing and comfortable. The Sunday lunch menu was detailed and appealed to everyone in our party. We opted for the 3-course and every course was delicious. The cheese plate on the dessert menu was disappointing-one piece of cheese( see picture). Will avoid it next time. We came away with a good feeling after an enjoyable meal and good service.

My visit on Thursday 9 February 2023 to Chapter V was memorable for several reasons. Firstly, I got to share the best culinary experience anywhere in Northern Ireland with 2 friends of mine, one of who had flown into the Province just to be there. They were both suitable impressed, especially when we got to speak with head chef Connor after our meal! Secondly, as I hadn't been here for some years because of the 'lockdown', I wondered if the service would be as good as I recalled it to be. It wasn't ... in fact, it was better than ever, such are the high standards Ellie sets for herself and her front-of-house team, all of whom were cheerful, pleasant, and efficient! And thirdly, the food, which is the most important matter! The food was absolutely amazing! One of my guests, like me, is a bit of an amateur 'foodie' and he proclaimed it to be the very best meal he had ever had, either at home or abroad! My second guest, the one who had flown in from England, is renowned as being a bit of a 'food dinosaur', and that's by his own admission! So when he managed to get through his main course of well-done sirloin steak without asking for HP sauce ... it was a victory for all my cajoling and praise indeed of the quality of Connor's culinary skills. My guests were absolutely delighted, but I was ecstatic! My starter of smoked duck served pink was delightful and just the right quantity and quality to set me up for my mains. For mains, I had the venison served pink with an exceptionally rich jus ... which was phenomenal. Dessert was a simple but outstanding Panna cotta that just melted on the palate. All in all an amazing night, with amazing service and amazing food, and best of all great value for money! As Tina said, 'simply the best!'

Booked Chapter V for a very special occasion - a 30th birthday and my first mother's day. Had found it in the Michelin Guide and was expecting good things. Turned up at 5.30, the time our table was booked for, and directed to wait at a table right beside the entrance, at the bar, while our table was being prepared. We were given menus and asked if we wanted a drink - as we had our 10 month old who was hungry, we politely declined as we wanted to get to our table asap. We also had a few bags eg changing bag with us, so wanted to get settled. At 6pm I went up to remind the waiter that we had booked a table for 5.30. The manager informed me that you order beside the bar first, then get taken to the main restaurant. I have never heard of this happening before and it wasn't explained to us, but nonetheless we ordered immediately to save us waiting any longer. By the time we got taken to our table, we had been waiting for 50 minutes, entertaining our baby! When the waitress came to say our table was ready, my husband was changing our son so I had to carry all our bags and coats alone. The waitress just stared at me and offered no help. We got our main course at 7.10. The table was booked for 5.30, so a significant wait. Perhaps if you were going as a couple and sharing a bottle of wine during that c. one hour wait, it wouldn't have been so bad. But this was mother's day and we had pre-requested a high chair. Even when my baby laughed and tried to interact with the staff, they just ignored. After our meal, no one enquired as to our experience, probably because it was clear that this was not acceptable. I'm not sure whether this is a usual occurrence, but I'd definitely not recommend for families. In my mind, if you book a table for half 5, it should be ready at or close to that time. Waiting for one hour, entertaining a child while clearly having no interest in cocktails or wine, is just not acceptable. Sad that this was on such a special occasion.

Just back from a family dinner for Mothers Day, couldn’t fault the place, from the moment we walked in the service was brilliant, food was delicious. Such a blessing to have a place like this within local area. Thank You & Keep up the good work 👏🏻

I didn't much like the surroundings and the food, well, some of it was very nice and some of it was very nasty. I came away wishing that I had gone somewhere else. Other diners seem to like it and maybe we hit it on a very off day, but maybe not. I judge my visit to have been poor value.

Such an amazing restaurant. Such a calm, peaceful restaurant where there is obvious attention to detail. Everything was immaculate, including the food. Had the wood pigeon starter, venison main and the chocolate brownie baked alaska and cannot fault any of it. And it was all completely gluten free. I have no idea how the chef has managed to make a gluten free brownie taste so amazing!! Having only recently been told to avoid gluten I have dreaded eating out, but Chapter V have a fantastic range of gluten free options. Not only that but they do not compromise on taste. The fact that menu choices are gluten free has not been an afterthought where the gluten free option is not as good or is a simplified version with items missing from the plate. The inclusion of gluten free has been so carefully planned and incorporated. Thank you, Chef Conor, for a fantastic meal, looking forward to my next visit!

We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience the setting is beautiful and the staff are so lovely and accommodating.The food is an amazing standard so innovative and yummy!We will definitely be back. Thanks Ellen for a wonderful night .

My family and I went for Sunday lunch. The starter, beetroot arancini, and main course, roast rid of beef were delicious but I would definitely give desert a miss. Sticky toffee pudding was so heavy, not like a sponge cake at all. It was also busy and took over an hour from we ordered to get our main course.

Chapter V is an amazing restaurant. From the moment you walk in, until the moment you leave you’re totally taken care of by professional, friendly, attentive (without being overbearing) staff. We went to celebrate a birthday and the food was stunning. We planned our next visit while we were still there. Couldn’t recommend it more.

The best restaurant I had the pleasure of eating in all year. That’s how I sum up my Chapter V experience. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked, presented so well and the plates of food completely complemented. My goats cheese was the best I ever had. Each dish was perfect served and tasted beautiful. I can offer no words of advice on how Chapter V could improve - it was outstanding in every way. On my to-do-list is a return visit to Chapter V. The staff tended to our every need and I watched the owner speak to as many customers as possible. Well done on the atmosphere created. A must do for good food lovers. So we went for anniversary meal, a group of 8 of us, decor nice and staff very warm and friendly. Ordered Christmas set 3 course meal and went for duck with mango salsa, venison and apple and cinnamon tart with winter berry sorbet. Couple of things wrong with this; duck came for starter, no mango salsa despite being noted on menu, explained to waitress who came back with small side plate of mango which missed the point of it not being there initially? Venison came and was bordering rare and very, very small portion, think of a lamb chop size, poorly seasoned also. Dessert came, eventually, with bitter apple puree inside an average pastry tart and VANILLA ice cream, now, where is the winter berry sorbet? No cinnamon in tart either? Asked waitress, who said she'd check, didn't see her again. Left feeling hungry and overcharged for what was offered. In some ways I feel deceived as what I'd ordered on menu was NOT what was offered, it's almost false advertising and a lack of an explanation. Surely, when ordering your meal, advise the customer you've no mango salsa left? Or your tart doesn't come with the sorbet listed or with any sugar in the apples at all?

Visited today with a friend who is friends with the owner (chef). We have been lucky enough to have tasted the owner’s food before in a restaurant where they previously worked. So, expectations were high: (spoiler alert - they were not disappointed).

Went here with friends for birthday celebrations, food was perfect and beautifully presented. Very reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend, all dishes in group were enjoyed by all.

We were over for business and a colleague booked Chapter V for our evening meal. It really is a find and unexpected in a small location. As you walk in it really does impress. Well decorated and deceptively large. All food (and drinks) were locally sourced and of an extremely high quality. Nothing pre-prepared here! Service was very good and they knew all about what they were offering. Highly recommended and a meal I will not forget any time soon.

Out for Adam’s 18th Birthday and yet again had an amazing food experience ! Staff were friendly and couldn’t have done enough for us. Great decor and atmosphere .. My wife had the beef cheeks starter which I always wanted to try after seeing on TV. I have to say it was the tastiest beef dish i ever tasted in my life (stole wee bite) I had the T bone and family had Duck ... the T bone falling of the bone and duck medium to perfection..

Arranged a friends birthday dinner here ... we had a brilliant night. Staff couldn't do enough for us & the food was fantastic- will definitely return. Thanx to all the staff for a great night!!

We have visited the fantastic restaurant on several occasions and I can honestly say it has to be one of if not the best restaurants in Northern Ireland. From the beautiful interior to the friendless of the well trained staff, the great atmosphere, and most importantly of all the delicious food. 5 stars all round. A great experience. We first visited Chapter V for dinner in 2015 and have returned several times since. It has always been a very pleasant evening.

This is an excellent restaurant. The food, service and ambiance are all brilliant and prices are reasonable. There is a lovely relaxing area, to have a pre meal drink. The staff could not do enough for us. We will be back.

Been meaning to get to Chapter V for ages and finally achieved it this evening. Very well worth the wait. We had a gorgeous meal from the Set Menu. From the moment we stepped through the door, the service, courtesy and attention we received from every one of the young waiting and bar staff was exceptional. Clearly, staff training is a high priority in this restaurant. And the standard was certainly maintained by the kitchen! Every course was delicious, clearly prepared and presented with meticulous care and enthusiasm. Congratulations Chapter V. Thanks Ellen.

Have wanted to try this place for a while and was very impressed, both with the decor and the food. The service was a bit hap hazard, but very friendly. The food was very good, but unfortunately the Killenure Castle Dexter Cote De Beouf, one of the tings we wanted to try, is no longer available, despite it still being on the web site and the menu in the restaurant. Still very good, although the Apple Gin should not be served with Lemon and Lime as it kills the delicate flavor.

Second time here and this was definitely much better than the first. Decor is beautiful. I had the goats cheese for starters and it was gorge. My husband had the soup of the day with homemade bread. Both lovely. I ordered chicken for main and it was lovely. My husband ordered the duck which came with breast and confit. The breast itself wasn't overly flavourson but everything else was yum. The only thing I would say was service was slow. But other than that we'll dad be back.

I recently took my partner here, both of us never having tried this restaurant before. The decor is lovely and views of the surrounding countryside are to be seen from the main restaurant. Staff very pleasant and attentive. We opted for the early bird menu. Our food was delicious and beautifully presented, a place well worth visiting for any occasion. Nice to see it was popular too, advise folk to book in advance. Will definitely go again.

Disappointing experience for a birthday dinner. Overall the price we paid for the food served at this restaurant was not worth it and left everyone very angry afterwards - ruining the birthday dinner we had planned for weeks. For a "high dining" restaurant the food was mediocre and the staff were not trained to the required standard expected for the prices charged for this restaurant. For starter we ordered the duck wontons which cost £8 per dish (4 people ordered them - £32) and we got 4 small bits of duck on a plate (scandalous for the price) and no sauce included. We ordered steak for main and the peppered sauce was served was a gravy. When we asked for peppered sauce they could't provide this for us therefore ruining the meal for the party. I had brought in a cake for the birthday and the staff proceeded to light the candles in front of us, therefore ruining the surprise. Overall, not a great experience and the price is extortionate for the level of service and food provided. Will not be back.

Yesterday was my first time to visit Chapter V in Moy and I wasn't disappointed. From entering the restaurant the staff were friendly and attentive I had brie for starter and duck for my main course. Presentation and service excellent a most enjoyable evening with my friends. I highly recommend this lovely restaurant.

I haven’t been in Chapter V for quite a while but I will ensure it’s not so long until my next visit. The waiting staff were very welcoming and attentive. The menu was extremely varied and we were spoilt for choice. The food presentation was perfect and everything was delicious. We had the early bird menus which I thought was very reasonably priced. My daughter and her boyfriend were very impressed with Chapter V and they are frequent restaurant goers in Belfast.

My wife treated me to Sunday lunch in Chapter V for my birthday on 7th April. We enjoyed a couple of drinks by the fire and then went into the restaurant for what was an excellent meal. All three courses were perfect and there was a lovely selection of food on the menu.

Had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant last Friday night. Lovely place, great fire going atmosphere was very inviting & relaxing! Slight mix up with our booking time, but staff bent over backwards to accommodate up and they more than made up for it. Food was amazing, had the scallops to start, cooked to perfection & I had the monk fish & prawns for main (never usually have to fish dishes) again fish was cooked to perfection, was totally stuffed, but managed a desert, the creme brûlée again it was delicious. Service was very attentive but not over bearing and the lady of the house was professional, courteous and extremely efficient. Had a lovely chat with her after our meal. All in all I would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

I was staying in the area on business for a couple of days. I wanted something better than hotel food and found ChapterV on Tripadvisor. I was disappointed they were not open on my first night, Wednesday. I went along on the Thursday evening and it was fairly busy. I was welcomed and taken to a seating area to view the menu. I had a glass of the house shiraz - very good.

Last week 8 of visited Chapter 5 for our end of year/Christmas dinner. I’ve been once before and AGAIN this time had an amazing dining experience!

Chapter v restaurant , lovely friendly staff, couldn't do enough for us, decorated table with banners and a balloon. Food was amazing, nothing any bother to them, portion sizes were good. We had steak, fish, goujons with sides of vegetables and chips absolutely so well presented and tasted delicious. No complains from anyone. Thank you all so much for making the meal special. Cake was brought out just before dessert and everyone joined in happy birthday. We were at no time feeling rushed and it was pretty busy. Definitely we will be back. Thanks so much .

This restaurant surprised us with a fantastic 3 course dinner and great wines. The friendly atmosphere with a drink at the fire place continued throughout the evening. A must if you travel to Moy.

Had heard good reports of this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. We chose from the preset menu, excellent food and excellent service. Nice touch that one of the owners took time to make us feel welcome. We will definitely be back again.

We were staying in Armagh for a week and hummed and hawed about where to go for our only child-free date night during our break. My wife spotted Chapter V on here and the online menu looked really promising.

A beautiful evening spent in this lovely restaurant celebrating a birthday. Food choice was 1st class, staff are open friendly and helpful. Food presentation and flavours were second to none.

Large group attended for a family occasion. We were asked to pre order but it was a bit hectic with all the meals coming out and trying to figure out what was going were. Staff had went round asking if everyone was ok with pink steak and they really could have asked how we would have liked it cooked. My partner didn't get asked at all and he usually eats his rare. Food was nice though. Staff were friendly. I would go back again in a smaller group.

We were a party of 13 for a birthday and every one of us had a fantastic evening. The food was outstanding & we all had food envy. The wild boar so delicious. It was difficult to choose a meal as menu so varied and appealing. The staff are so friendly and service excellent and brought out the birthday cake for my Mum as well as a complimentary prosecco which was a lovely touch. It was a first visit for us all and we’ll definitely be returning.

Visited for the first time on Sunday Evening as a birthday treat I particularly enjoyed my main which was beautifully presented as well as delicious. I was a little disappointed with the dessert as I had chosen the creme brulee as the hazelnut shortbread sounded nice but it arrived with a rock hard biscotti only a little thing but still disappointing as if the server had said I wouldn't have ordered it.

This place is outstanding...from the minute you walk in you are greeted with a very warm friendly welcome. You get to take a seat in the front bar and browse the menu while the waiter brings a drink to the table. Then when your table is ready you are seated in the restaurant with its tasteful decor and adequately spaced tables. Waiting Service is excellent from start to finish. Food was amazing...from the crab starter to the guinea fowl special main course, every mouthful bursting with flavours. My sister had a fillet steak and it was just melt in your mouth. She lives in Belfast and has eaten in numerous top restaurants there and commented that she never had a steak like it. The staff catered for my whole family from my young children to my older father. We had even brought our own birthday cake and again the staff accommodated bringing it out with sparklers and all singing happy birthday. We had a very memorable occasion here and myself and family will definitely be back...can’t wait to dine here again! Thank you Chapter V

Had the pleasure of dinning here early one Friday evening, this is a hidden gem, food was fabulous, extremely tasty, nice location with parking nearby in Moy Square a small Tyrone village on the Armagh border, nice decor,pleasant staff, well worth a visit as you will not be disoppointed, 10 out of 10 from me !!!!!!

Although the service was not great (due to someone not turning in) we were in no rush so just enjoyed the leisurely late lunch. On initial reading the menu felt a little bit restricted, but both my husband and myself finally decided on both starters and mains and were not left disappointed. I had the deep fried brie, not those great big pieces but small, delicate pieces enough to satisfy but not spoil your appetite. My husband had the duck filled rolls which he found to be very tasty. Our mains did take quite a long time to come out, but were worth the wait. Overall, the meal was very good, my only real complaint was, we were using a gift voucher and had a small balance left, which they did not refund to us, but left it as a credit. Fine if you lived close by, but for us it would be too much of a journey to go again just to use the credit.

The first time we went there in 2017 we enjoyed our meal though the service was somewhat slow and we suggested to friends that they might like to try it. Unfortunately they didn't. When we returned in February 2018 we were disappointed in how standards had dropped. The food was mediocre and the service was amateurish though the waitresses were quite friendly. We wondered what had happened to the operation. I regret that I won't be making any further recommendations about this restaurant.

I had the pleasure of being taken here as a treat by friends and it was certainly that. From the minute we arrived we were met with friendly and welcoming staff and enjoyed the comfort of sitting in front of a roaring fire before going through to dining room for our food. The presentation of the food was outstanding, every plate was like a work of art, the food was totally amazing and staff were very attentive. I would highly recommend a visit to chapter 5, a culinary experience to remember. Chapter 5 staff want to make every customers visit a luxury dining experience.

What can we say other than this place serves amazingly tasty food. The staff are mainly young, friendly, well trained and presented, attentive without being intrusive... but the star of the show is the food, all of it, starters, mains and desserts are all obviously made from scratch, and the chef's long career and classical training shines through. Reasonably priced for the quality too, plus they can accommodate gluten intolerant on virtually every dish. We weren't disappointed, I doubt you will be either.
