Cute restaurant and lovely private function room for intimate events.

Brilliant evening, fantastic food, great attention to detail. Waiter was excellent.

The food looks the part, but the overall menu needs refreshing. It’s not as tasty or memorable as it should be. The staff are attentive and service is overall great. Tables are well spaced apart which allows privacy. This restaurant was highly regarded but it has lost it’s shine for some reason. There’s a lack of consistency.

Have been coming here for many years now. Lovely atmosphere, good food, excellent staff. Its a shame that this place lost its michelin star sometime back.On this occasion it was our anniversary.

This has been where we go for a special meal for many years now, and it never disappoints.

i have been to this place many times before but today was awful the food was not nice roast beef was very tough the sticky toffee pudding look like the ones from lidl even the order for coffee came wrong i so wanted to be nice because it was my husband birthday was better going to cafe

I love Chapter One, have done for many years but after our birthday celebration meal the waitress actually started shouting at us as we left £50 tip instead off the £85 optional tip, it was embarrassing and spoilt the whole afternoon, shameful, that should never have happened.

You can actually see and taste the difference between a standard restaurant and this fine dining experience. The food had all the nuances of a chef who knows how to add little ingredients to enhance the flavour. We started with Chicken Galantine on a Celeriac Remoularde. Great flavour combination. Then I had Sea Bream which was cooked perfectly and I asked for Samphire instead of Pesto. My daughter had the Chicken Pethivier. Everything was just so much more than just ordinary.

We first ate at Chapter One in November, it was one of their Gourmet evenings and quite superb, then last week we celebrated Burns night with a superbly Scottish themed meal (the Piper was excellent). I have no reason to think that Valentines night will be anything other than spectacular and look forward to that visit. I thoroughly recommend for a great meal with attention to detail from all the staff as you enjoy the food.

Style over substance. Service and ambience nice but the meal is literally worth two thirds of what is charged at absolute most and that would include an additional service charge. The building and decor are attractive however there are similar experiences at better value in the surrounding area. Three courses already £58.50 before the surcharge of £12 for a rib eye and an additional £5.50 for frozen chips. Food fine but not memorable; better tasting meals elsewhere in Bromley alone. My maths; subtract a £10 soup and a £10 mousse (being generous with my estimates on these prices) from the £58.50 then add the £12 steak surcharge and you've got yourself a £50 rib eye. No sides, no salad. You don't find these prices at specialised steak restaurants in central London for the cut and size of the meat. Best part of £12 for a pint of lager. I will happily pay these prices for meals that are memorable and outstanding; this occasion was not. Minor, Insignificant difference in produce quality to Miller and Carter or Havet only Chapter One has less choice and 2 to 3 times the cost. Needless to say we won't be rushing back.

From the first bite to the last, every dish was a revelation of taste. The staff's knowledge and enthusiasm elevated the dining experience to a whole new level.

I was fortunate to join my friend and her family for her birthday lunch in Chapter One. We were greeted promptly and shown to our table, it was nice to find it was not very close to the next one and all the tables had room around them. The food was delicious, the service was discreet but very efficient by excellent, attentive staff. All in all it was a lovely experience and my friend really enjoyed her Birthday lunch. I would definitely go again and would recommend Chapter One to anyone wanting a lovely dining experience.

First of all plenty of parking on the premises thats a bonus !well presented ,welcoming staff . Own large room upstairs and served exceptionally by Simran our waitress Food plentiful good range and cooked to requirements ie steaks ,beef etc Perfect irish coffee to round off the evening The whole of the staff made it a very pleasant place to have a Party Would book again if an occasion arises .

It was my wife's birthday so I wanted something special. Unfortunately we probably would have had a better Sunday roast at the local Toby. We ordered a dozen oysters but they only had seven left so we had them. But the oysters came dressed with a sweet dressing. Not nice and totally destroyed the point of an oyster especially these tiny ones. I asked for my beef rare and it came up medium. The accomplishments to our roost dinner were red cabbage and French beans. Where is the carrots, parsnips, cauliflower cheese, cabbage? At £25.00 it's just wasn't good enough. We paid over £200.00 for the three of us which I wouldn't mind if I felt it had been special. It wasn't. Finally we sat by very stained dirty net curtains. Why?

Attended several times when at Brands Hatch for racing, excellent food and service.

We visited on the recommendation of our friends, the other couple we were with. The ambience was good, the service attentive and the food. In the main, very good. My only disappointment was the Kentish Lamb mains. This was more fat than lamb. I realise that lamb can be a fatty meat but to have a single cutlet that hard hardly any meat was disappointing. My Hare stater was excellent as was my wife’s Salmon. She also said her mains, Hake, was excellent. My chocolate desert and her poached pear were also very good. We had a couple of cocktails that were also very good.

Chapter One never disappoints! The restaurant looks modern and welcoming with tasteful, seasonal decor. It’s really hard to choose what to have as everything on the menu is so tempting. To start we had a fig and goats cheese salad, mushroom veloute, sardines on sourdough with tsatziki and we shared Korean chicken bites. Mains of risotto, ceaser salad, burger and roast partridge were all super delicious. Great food, attentive service and lovely ambience. Highly recommend this local restaurant.

We love Chapter One. We have been visiting for 20 years and they never disappoint. Andrew and his team, front of house and kitchen, are the best. Can't wait for our next visit.

We went for Saturday lunch as we had been in July 23 and everything was excellent. However, sad to say, there were a few things which fell below what was expected. We were given the menus and water but no one came to ask if we wanted a pre lunch drink. We had to request this. Then it was quite sometime before our order was taken. The restaurant was not full and therefore there was no reason for delays. The food was warm, not hot, and not the standard expected and certainly not for price paid. When we asked for tea/coffees, the young waiter dropped the milk jug, it went over my arm, my partner's clothes and phone. Whilst I accept accidents happen, there was no one from management who came to check we were ok and to apologise. We were wiping the milk from our clothes, my arm and phone. When we asked for our coats, all of them except one was given back. No one went to check again and my step dad did this himself. We were left to pour the wine ourselves towards the end and again no one came to ask if we needed anything. We ordered broccoli along with some other vegetables. This did not arrive and my mum asked for it again. By the time it came, everyone had nearly finished the main. Given we had a great experience in July, this was very disappointing. All this may be expected in some lower end restaurants but certainly not at Chapter One.

Excellent roast beef; the gravy and Yorkshire puddings were outstanding! Very attentive staff at the group event attended.

Private dining to a very high standard. We had 50 people attend our Trafalgar Night themed dinner.

Exceptional food and service.. the celeriac veloute was beautifully presented, smooth and extremely tasty! The homemade bread complimented the soup.. could it get any better, well yes, the grilled sea bass (brasserie menu) was served on the bone, generously proportioned, moist meaty and cooked on their unique Jesper Grill which infused a level of smokiness I have not tasted before - absolute Yum! I enjoyed with a little sauce on the side. To finish with I shared the caramelised apple and sesame seed Mille-feuille desert.. which was nice.. had I had room I would have opted for the cheese board!.. a bottle of the Sancerre complimented the whole Meal superbly.. the service was very attentive and as good as anywhere I have been! This was not just a meal but a fabulous experience I would happily recommend to anyone looking for that something special!..

Great food with perfect service.

Elegant and stylish restaurant with an excellent reputation, locally. Sunday lunch was wonderful. Dishes very well presented. The beef was excellent, although there are also plenty of other options. Great selection of cheeses. Warm welcome and great service levels.

I had venison for my main course, The taste was absolutely wonderful. My dessert was a great creation, Consisting of honey, lemon curd, pieces of biscuit, and bee pollen sorbet! they have a beehive on the roof! This restaurant never disappoints, I shall certainly be returning.

Great brassiere, great food and great service. The reason that I have not given Chapter One 5 stars throughout is the fact that when my disabled husband and I went to have lunch there was only ONE disabled car space and that was tucked away at the side of the building when it should be by the front entrance. Shame on you Chapter One for treating your disabled customers like second class customers. Considering the age demographic of your clientele I would expect a considerable percentage of your customers have some mobility problems, should you not address this?

I was invited to my friend's 60th birthday lunch. What a fantastic venue. We had the private room upstairs. The canapes , starters, mains, and desserts were outstanding. We have been coming here on the odd occasion over the years. It did take a dip a few years ago so we had not been recently. I am very pleased to say that it is back on top form. My wife has a couple of food allergies which they catered for brilliantly (we did let them know in advance). From the moment we arrived we were looked after brilliantly. Our waiter was friendly but very professional. Nothing was too much trouble and when he suggested something he gave us the reason behind his thinking. I highly recommend the beef tartare which was sublime as was the skate wing. It is not cheap , but quality food and service does cost. A really good Sunday lunch. We will be back.

Fantastic experience. The food and service was exceptional. We will definitely be back. Ps to the chef: We weren't that impressed by the desserts. I had the baked yogurt and my husband had the gooseberry dessert. They were difficult to eat because of the hard caramel wafer between the layers. It couldn't be cut, so we had to disassemble the dessert and break it on the side, which is a shame because the presentation of the dishes were lovely.

We had not been to the restaurant for a few years as our last experience was disappointing and did not feel it was worth the prices. However, we went there for my birthday lunch and were very impressed. The food has always been excellent but the service was not great as it used to be and did not justify the 12.5% service charge. This time the service was like it used to be originally, excellent and attentive. Our waiter, Richard, was great and really helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Chose to celebrate my 50th Birthday here last weekend, having previously celebrated my 21st (when it was the Fantail Resturant), my 30th in the room upstairs and my 40th in the main restaurant. Service and food remain at an excellent standard.....hopefully they'll be there in 10 years for the next big b'day.

We held our Ruby wedding celebration in the Private dining room ten years ago and returned in June for our Golden Wedding Lunch. We met with Tania, the event Manager, a few months before the day, she was so friendly and helped us with the finer details of the day. Chef and his team did a fantastic job, great menu choices,all looked and tasted wonderful. Our guests all very happy and spoke very highly of the event. Everything perfect, room set out beautifully,flowers,tables and food, standard of service exceptional.

Excellent meal and service. Had the Terrine to start which was fantastic. The Rib-Eye steak was also great with a delicious red wine sauce. Wife had the Seabass which was a very good portion and cooked to perfection. Staff were very accommodating finding us a table on the Terrace and we had a lovely evening.

We held our wedding reception in the Private Dining Room and literally could not have been happier. The room was set up so nicely with the flowers, cakes and decorations we supplied. The food was absolutely incredible - every person (47 in total) commented how amazing their food was. Massive thank you to the chefs - by far the best "wedding food" we and our guests have ever had. Everyone was served in a timely manner and every dish presented perfectly. The service we received was absolutely brilliant and again many of our guests commented as such. Really attentive friendly staff who could not have done more for us. We were all welcomed with sparking wine and had waiter service during the meal and then an open bar. A couple of tables were removed after the meal to allow for mingling/dancing. The whole day could not have been more perfect. The organisation in advance of the wedding was good (thank you Tania) and we had a couple of meetings to discuss our requirements and to pick from a reasonably vast menu selector and wine choices. All of our guests were very happy with the three choices of each course they then had to choose from. We really are so happy with our decision to host our wedding reception at Chapter One and we look forward to returning for our anniversaries. Many thanks to everyone single person involved at Chapter One, you were amazing!

Afgelopen weekend met vrienden in dit prachtige restaurant gegeten. We werden super ontvangen door de eigenaar/gastheer. Ook het overige personeel was vriendelijk en bekwaam. Het eten en drinken was fantastisch, ook voor een niet vleeseter zoals ik. Prachtige gerechten, goed op smaak. Echt een aanrader als je in de buurt bent.

We visited for Sunday lunch and it didn’t disappoint. Asparagus for starter, roast beef and then creme brûlée. Classic but very good! The waiter recommended accompanying wines. Good food, wine and service.
