Much less grand than it was. Everything was dirty. There were quite a few empty tables when we arrived on Saturday afternoon but every one was covered in dirty glasses and hadn't been wiped. There was also litter all over the place, used wrapping paper from earlier groups over the tables and floors that wasn't cleared the whole time we were there. After we cleared our own table, we ordered drinks - one glass of Veuve Cliqout and one sparkling water and the total was £24. Only after we ordered did I look at the menu to discover the cost of a glass champagne has risen from £14 in December 2022 to £21 in January 2024 - a 50% increase in little over one year! I don't mind splurging on a glass of champagne but £21 for one glass feels like exploitation. In Costco and on Amazon a bottle of this champagne will set you back about £42, but if you'd like to enjoy that bottle in Champagne Central on dirty tables, surrounded by litter, the experience will cost you £125. I appreciate businesses need to make a profit but this is greed, and if they're going to charge these prices the least customers can expect is a bit of luxury and perhaps table service. The toilets were also disgusting and badly needed some attention. The bar was busy but there's really no excuse for how filthy everything was. Needless to say we left after the one extremely expensive drink.

Really like Champagne Central but pricing is now way out of control. £140 for a bottle of Bollinger. We paid it as it was a one off but a complete rip off and won’t be back until this place gets real. La Lanterna across the road is a beautiful restaurant and was charging £80 for a bottle of Perrier Jouet.

Why was tea served first?......I don’t get it! Should surely be served when food comes out because as a result the tea was lukewarm, with no offers of top ups. Both sandwiches were egg with one slightly curried flavour, brioche bun was rather heavy too. Scones weren’t warm which I would have expected in such an establishment. We also had to ask twice for leftovers to be boxed up........ will we be back? I’m afraid not!

We booked a table here to have drinks after our small wedding with just us & 2 friends. I'd said it was for our wedding and asked for a window table so we could be amidst the buzz of the main bar, but we didn't get one. On arriving, the place was empty but our drinks still took an age to arrive and I had to chase them up. Despite the fact they knew it was our wedding, and I was in a wedding dress and husband in a kilt, not a single member of staff offered congratulations. I also asked if my bouquet could be put in water, but this was ignored. Very unimpressed by poor service and zero care from staff. The complete opposite of our experience at Dakota where we later had our meal. Thankfully they made it a special experience, unlike Champagne Central

We sat down and waited for someone to take our order. A waitress was standing 2 tables away chatting to a couple of female customers, seemed like they knew each other. I went up to the bar after about 5 minutes, asked a man that was washing dishes if it was bar service, he said yes, then went back to doing dishes. Then went to another man at the end of the bar and asked for my drink order. He told me to sit down and my order would be brought to my table. Drinks came, lovely. However I found the staff were quite young and spent a lot of time chatting amongst themselves. The waitresses continued to chat with the 2 female customers throughout our visit, to the detriment of other customers.

Afternoon tea was nice. I had a separate vegetarian plate of 4 sandwiches savoury cheese, devilled egg, humus and a salad one. Hubby had prawn cocktail, the egg and cheese sandwiches and a chicken brioche bun. I missed a hot option which I have had elsewhere. Middle shelf 4 scones plain and fruit with jam and cream. Top shelf passion fruit battenburg, white chocolate tart , a toffee cake for me and a mango slice for hubby. Tea and coffee was unlimited. Nice treat.

Oh dear I went with a group of friends for afternoon tea using a Groupon voucher purchased by my friend. I have given two stars only one for the decor and ambience and one for the excellent scones, the other offering for this afternoon tea were not good at all. The prawn cocktail was inedible and not one of our group was able to eat it. The small brioche bun with chicken was okay the other two small finger sandwiches did not taste great and the 3 small cakes were Average. I ate most of the offerings because I was hungry, I had withheld breakfast so that I could really enjoy the afternoon tea. I recommended the Grand Central because I had taken my mother there several years ago and it was one of the best I had ever had. I will not be returning again.

Had the pleasure of enjoying a few nightcaps here while staying at the Voco Grand Central. Champagne Central is an elegant bar, built in the historic addition to the Grand Central hotel in the early 1900’s. Adorned with some beautiful decor from a stunning crystal chandelier, to the original marble floor (that was once covered by a carpet) to a series of windows that overlook the main train terminal. Great place to come to start the night with some bubbly, or to end it with some truly excellent drinks. Our host was Moriarty, bartender extraordinaire who makes one of the best Whiskey Sours I’ve ever had. The vibe is lively, but not overly energetic. There is a cute side room for more intimate gatherings as well. In a city full of bar options, this is one to put on your list to see.

While the Voco Hotel is beautiful, the restaurant was a let down. After being directed to our table I needed to ask for a drinks menu, only to be informed that it as done with a QR code, which is fine, but it would have been nice if this was told to us straight away, no offer of water until i asked and a menu that was pretty average. We had hardly finished our food, still finishing a drink and our table was being cleared away. A clear sign that it’s time to leave. For the record we were there for no more than 45 minutes.

Ok, you don't think Champagne when you think of Glasgow. True. However, this place is fantastic, and of course has more than Champagne. It has it all. Plus, it's a very ellegant, but fun and approachable atmosphere. There is also always a crowd viewing the historical and interesting paintings. It is something you can't miss. There is not much seating which is kind of annoying, so get there early, or get a reservation. It is always packed. However, the seating is like most Euro pubs where you are forced to sit at the same table or place with people you don't know. This is actually pretty cool in Scotland, because people in Glasgow are amazingly nice. I don't think I'd like to have the same arrangement in somewhere like Frankfurt. The staff is really cool as well. It's an amazing location in the city as well. You can't go wrong here. I didn't think it was too pricy by US standards, but the local Scottish people seemed to think it was expensive. So, it's a matter of perspective. I did order some appetizers, and they were horrible. However, the Scottish people next to me thought they were awesome, and actually ate them! By Austin standards it was inedible and garbage, but whatever, the Glasgow folks loved it. So it's perspective. I will add this, of what I ordered, it said something like a selection of olives. I was expecting an actual selection, meaning a variety of interesting olives. I got a literal bowl of green olives you'd get from a can at the store. They were all the same, and they were certainly from a can. They had no flavor, and didn't even have the pimento in them. Weird. However, the Scottish people at my table gladly ate them, and thought I was weird for not liking them.

Came with my Mum, sister and 18m old toddler for afternoon tea. Had a voucher gifted from Christmas to use. It was a voucher for 3 so I asked if I could pay to have a few extra sandwich fingers added for the baby. The waiter offered us the bar menu consisting of fries, nuts etc. none of which she would eat. So I asked another staff member if I could just add on an extra few egg mayo sandwich fingers to our afternoon tea. I also ordered an apple juice for the baby. She returned with our platter plus a plate of 6 sandwich fingers for the baby (which I was charged £11 for including the small cup of apple juice. I didn’t want a loaf of bread I just wanted an extra couple of fingers. So wasn’t expecting such a high charge) the Sandwiches were stale. The fillings were basic (egg mayo, cucumber, ham and coronation chicken) and it was just basic sandwich fingers. Anywhere else you usually get a selection of rolls/wraps/sandwiches. The scones were dry. The cakes were ok but very heavy. The tea was cold. Honestly such a disappointment for such a lovely venue. Was expecting something far more luxurious! I’ve given an extra star just because the staff members themselves were beyond lovely. They were attentive and friendly. Great customer service. But the menu really needs to be reconsidered!!

Champagne Central has a great reputation for their drinks menu and afternoon tea, so we were excited to go. Overall it was good. The drinks were good, but the only small setback was slower than normal service. We had to catch the servers’ eyes every time and at no point did anyone come to check in if we were ok or if we needed anything. Visited for afternoon tea today and was quite disappointed. I have been a few times years ago and really enjoyed it. I booked using an Itison voucher. On arrival, I was held up at the front of the restaurant, as the front of house girl made me stroll through my emails to find the voucher, before I was allowed to enter. I was standing there was ages! I didn't realise I had to have the voucher ready to display, usually you wait until you're seated! The sensible thing to do would have been to show me to my table to look for it there. The afternoon itself was just OK. My partner didn't enjoy his sandwiches. My sandwiches were nice and I enjoyed the gluten free scones. However, the gluten free cakes were very disappointing. Dry and stale. Shop bought I think. Regaridng the drinks, we only got one small put of tea and weren't offered a refill. Such as shame as this was good in the past. I wouldn't recommend.
