Horrible service. First manager didn't want to clean table for us. He did it with big problem. Then I ordered drinks, staff member bring drinks to the gable and menu. Then ask if we want to order any food, we said no and waitress said, thats ok. Then manager came and said that we have to order food. Whe. I said we dont want any food, just drinks, he was so upset and start forcing us to order anything. I said if they will inform us at the begin, we will go somewhere else for a drink. Then in a minute they came and bribg bill to pay straight away. No sorry, no thank you, nothing. We will never come back to this place.

Authentic Indian food (Delhi flavours) right besides Thames. Over the years, they've maintained their simplicity, serive and above all - Indian flavours. Ideal for lunch, dinner and then a long walk by the river. Plenty of car parking available nearby at Bentall car park.

Granth - amazing cocktails and service , super quick and very friendly. All staff were very welcoming and very friendly . The food and drinks were perfect. Such a nice atmosphere. We would recommend

I just ordered butter chicken and chilly chicken .... I used to order from here a lot but I was shocked to see the quantity they sent .... I was charged £22 for the minimal quantity which can't even satisfy one person.. ..this is soo ridiculous bcoz they charged a lot for this and they are reducing their quantity....even the food was cold....I'm done ordering from them....this is so unfair....

First visit, and the place certainly didn't let us down. Food was scrumptious and the dessert was just out of this world. Staff was extremely polite and friendly. Kudos to Granth for going the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. Will definitely be coming again. Thank you!

The best lamb biriyani I have ever tasted. Staff are very kind and attentive. Place is beautiful.

I ordered butter chicken and naan and was very happy with it. It was amazing in the first bite. But when I took my other bite, before putting it in mouth I saw a huge long hair which was all stuck in a chicken piece. It ruined my mood and I had to throw the food.

Ordered Dum biryani, egg fried rice and dumplings, food was great and delicious. Service is also super fast compared to other restaurants. Food came is 20 minutes after ordered. Staffs were super nice and helpful.

My experience at this Indian restaurant was disappointing. The lamb served in a curry was unexpectedly chewy, and the inclusion of Chinese items in the menu felt out of place for an Indian restaurant. Poppadoms with mayonnaise instead of mango chutney further added to the bizarre food choices. The overall menu lacked authenticity, offering Indian dishes that deviated from traditional flavors. The restroom facilities were in urgent need of renovation, falling short of cleanliness standards. On a positive note, the staff was polite and attentive. Unfortunately, the odd food selection and hygiene concerns make it unlikely for me to visit again.

I went for the first time to this restaurant with a friend,it was very early and it was empty but we had a very nice view overlooking the river and lovely food,I had vegetarian curry and my friend chicken curry,we found strange they also had a Chinese menu although on that evening there was no Chinese cook working.The Indian selection is not what you would expect in your typical restaurant but it was tasty and nice,the chilly naan bread different and lovely.The best part was the waitress,a sweet young girl that was very nice.We couldn't give her a tip because we didn't have cash as the tip by card was not going to her so we felt bad vlbut she didn't mind.I asked her name and wrote it down but can't find the piece of paper.

Excellent food, The chicken tikka was recommended by our server Granth and it was excellent the best I have had. Lovely restaurant.

Negatives: Mains were poor and I got food poisoning from the Lamb Rogan Josh. One of my friends complained about his Lamb Shank as it was tough. Restaurant was pretty cold. Positives: Service was good and friendly. Staff were accommodating to friend's complaint about food and took 50% off the bill for that item. Gluten free options were available and they cooked in separate oils for my friend. Garlic naan was well done.

Great food and spices - recommend

This is quite simply the worst curry house I’ve ever visited. We went there for a friends birthday and the food was very average and the temperature in the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. I believe there heating is insufficient. The manager was unwilling to do anything to resolve. Avoid this restaurant especially on a cold night.

Waiter working there is so ride to customers….. before speaking something they should think twice… humans can’t take words back once they said. We were so hungry and visited that then by listening his words we came back without having any food. Please note all the customers were paying and none of them were not having food for free.

Love this place. Great food, great service, and dog friendly. Went here on Sunday for my Birthday family meal. Never disappoints, from starters to the end! Try all starters/sharers as all amazing. Samosa Chat & Keema Pav my favourites. I had the Murg E-stew cooked to the heat you want. All other dishes amazing too. The whole team are lovely, even the chefs came out to sing Happy Birthday. Highly, highly recommend.

Unique menu with dishes you wont find elsewhere. Friendly staff. Lovely riverside setting. Highly recommend this restaurant. Good portion sizes too.

I was looking for a riverside Indian restaurant for dinner and I hit the right spot. 10 on 10 for food and hospitality shown by staff (Shivani and Vimalan). I must say that this place exceeded my expectations.

Went for bottomless brunch twice now and the amount of drinks are hit and miss depending on your server. But can't really complain too much as what you get for your money is really good value! The food is lovely! The tables outside come with a great view, but inside is lacking atmosphere (especially compared to the places that have been there before).

Food was good. Portions are on the small side. The server seemed very nice and polite. I was on my own as im here for work, it took 45 minutes to get any food on the table and to add insult to injury all the tables of 2 and 4 around me and inside that came and sat down after i had already ordered got food before me. I was about to walk away and go pay for the water bottle i did consume when my plates came. Absolutely no apologies, she looked more embarrassed then anything when i walked into the restaurant to get my bill and pay as quickly as possible. I’m very disappointed as my colleagues ranted about this restaurant. Not sure i’ ll be going back. 🙁

Liked the food, it's really good, better than the infamous Dishoom restaurant in London. Staff is friendly and service was nice and quick. Good location.. Overall a decent place to have a nice indian meal.. would love to visit again..

We travelled all the way from Bournemouth & it was our first visit , to this place hoped in & enjoyed a great meal & drinks . The staffs were friendly , very keen on assisting & anticipating .. had a friendly conversation , the outlet manager is a gem to this place took a great care of our taste buds & he exactly knew what to offer from The a Al carte menu ... a perfect place to enjoy a cozy meal & drinks sitting on the banks of Thames river (not to mention the ganga of London 😜) will visit again to explore more on the menu , me being a chef myself it hardly happens that I like someone's cooking but this one needed special notation : the palak papri chaat & dahi k kebab were magnificent .. yet the portion size of mains needs to be a lil more considering the pricing But the overall experience matters the most & not the prices

First the location is brilliant... by the Kingston Riverside, with the option for outdoor seating and enjoy the river view ... watch people, listen to music by a live band on the riverside ... Second the food is awesome. For the veggies, there is a good choice of options. Finally the people simply make the experience memorable. Great service. Shoutout to Vimalan for his warmth and cheerful service, attention to details and taking care of us. Recommend the place. We look forward to going again!

A nice place, pleasant staff, average food, and really slow service. We arrived at opening time, ordered our food, and waited an hour for it to come. When we asked what had taken so long, we were simply told they’d had a bunch of takeaway orders. So it seems they prioritize takeaway over customers in the restaurant. No one said it would be a long wait. No other explanation or apology. As for the food, it was average, some items from the Chinese part of the menu were disappointing (salt and pepper squid was overcooked and rubbery, chilli garlic fish was also overcooked). The poppadums were good, and the chutney was tasty, but there wasn’t enough chutney. The bhadjis were nice. And finally, the butter chicken and the samosa chat were nondescript. Overall, it was OK, prices were fair, but not worth a one hour wait.

Super delicious food in a fantastic Kingston riverside location! The staff were fantastic, so attentive and polite. We had starters and mains and there is a great selection of traditional food, all full of flavour! An excellent experience and will definitely be going back. Can never understand why people flock to the boring chain restaurants along the river front when Chakra is an option!

Staff were very friendly and a nice/clean venue but very overpriced for the portion sizes given. There is hardly any meat in the dishes mainly gravy, same with paneer, no salads or side dishes added within the prices. We have been to many Indian restaurants and usually after starters we can just about think about the mains. At chakra after the starters we were still very hungry, the platters barely was enough for 2 let alone more. Sorry but would not return or recommend it unless you’re happy to leave £300 lighter like we did and got McDonald’s on the way home!

Will start with positives. Friendly staff, food tasted good enough, presented very well, but was bought out extremely fast from moment of ordering. This may explain why all of it was cold. A disappointing visit if im truly honest. As i said the food did have great flavours. But was just about warm and considering how quickly it turned up id imagine was sitting waiting a while. More went into the presentation id say than anything else so dont be fooled by pretty looking display on plates that this will be as good as it looks. Staff were friendly but need training on how to serve and be with customers. Constantly at your table the second a dish looks to nearly be finished they are taking them off your table. I had to explain i was still eating one of my dishes as they tried to take it away. I must have been interrupted about 5 times during my date with my other half asking if everything was ok. Overpriced for what you get. Im a local to this place and had been meaning to try ut for some time. Safe to say i shall not be returning. There are far better options around

Exquisite food, and excellent service from all the staff. Unfortunately my experience ended rather unpleasantly due to the manager shouting at his staff in front of the customers. It made us feel really uncomfortable.

The best Salt & Pepper squid i have had anywhere, and i've had a few! Very good food all round.

My husbands birthday dinner out. Afghani chicken, lamb Rogan Joshi, shahl palak paneer, garlic naan and rice were so great. Vimalan was very sweet serving us. Recommend and will come again.

I had a lovely experience at Chakra with a beautiful river view! Vimalan was a very courteous and pleasant server! He went out of his way to have the bartender make a Pimm’s Cup which was delicious and beautifully loaded with bite-size strawberries. The food was equally delicious with our selection of bhel puri and avocado bites!!

Absolutely pathetic takeaway service. I had to wait for 45 mins to get starters and the owner was least bothered about it.

Pros: - amazing view, we went during the daytime and I can only imagine at night it must be beautiful as the resteraunt is overlooking the Thames - Food was good, I wouldn't say amazing as some things were mediocre at best but other items were good (the paneer dishes especially) Cons: - This isn't exactly a downside as I expected this, but the food is very expensive. I imagine this is because of the location but I think £21 for the starter platter is a little ridiculous (see second photo) - The menu is quite limited. I did look at photos beforehand of the menu, but when we went there it was actually quite limited with there being limited options to choose from as a vegetarian. That being said, it was still manageable - Service was bad. It felt like the waiters were purposely avoiding coming to our table to take our order and we had to call them at least 7/8 times for them to notice - Tables are small. At least the one we sat at You would expect dining tables to be large as everyone would order quite a lot of food but unfortunately there was barely any space and we kept having to move things around to make space to eat. Overall, nice place, but overhyped for the standard at which it actually is.

Terrible experience. Popadoms were a bit stale, no onion salad came with them, dips were fairly poor. Had a Sag chicken curry which tasted like it had mint purée or something weird all over it…not sure where the spinach was? It just looked like a green load of slop. Not sure what part of the chicken it was, flat layers rather than succulent chunks of chicken breast. Naan bread was good, that’s it. Service and staff were poor. It has a feeling of a quick in/quick out place with a large turnover of bums on seats. Nothing like I’ve ever experienced anywhere else. Will not be going back. Sorry.

Went for bottomless brunch yesterday. Food was perfect and service was great. They didn’t have all the drinks available for the lunch as advertised but they then resolved this really quickly, catering for our needs. Will be coming back.

Where do I start? The dry luke warm chicken coated in tinned spinach purée from tescos with no flavour whatsoever, or the incompetence of the waiters and staff. We were seated on a desk sized dodgy table with one leg shorter that the rest - a complete disaster from start to finish. I do not recommend and unfortunately will not be returning. Don’t be fooled by the location, save your money and spend it elsewhere.

It was disappointing with service staff don’t care about you waiting after asking when food will come no answer 50 minutes wait for food after asking for bill finally we got food and other 30 minutes asking they didn’t give us bill we need go inside and than I paid literally they don’t care about your time. Never go again and can’t recommend

After a so-so experience pre-covid, thought to give this place another try with my partner. We were seated promptly however thereafter getting the attention of any of the 4-5 waiters was nigh on impossible. This was despite none of them attending to any of the other tables and loitering around the bar area checking laptops/phones or chatting with one another. Ten minutes had passed when I eventually got a hand gesture from the bar tender, however then another five minutes passed during which no one came to take our order. We then noticed another table that had arrived after us had their drinks delivered before we had even been asked whether we wanted any. The final straw was a waiter who looked in our direction and quickly looked away as I frantically tried to grab his attention as he walked away from us. At this point my partner decided she had had enough and suggested we try somewhere else. We left just as another party were being asked whether they wanted to be seated in our vicinity. None of the nearby staff tried to ascertain why we had got up to leave nor try and convince us to stay. Bizarre. The restaurant we tried was two doors away. It was vibrant, had ~3-4 times as many diners, the table staff being busy and yet we were seen to in under 10 minutes.

The younger staff are far more polite and nice. Unfortunately the Oldman/manager may be in his 70s who looks grumpy was very very rude not only to customers but also to his own staff ! Food is okay, but with the rudeness you serve, your restaurant deserves ZERO not even one star. !!! The management should hire someone with basic manners ! Delivery boys gets shouted for no fault of their's. Manager is disgusting!! Plus point for this restaurant is river side ! That is the only plus for the restaurant!! Nothing else.

Having eaten at Chakra restaurant half a dozen times over the years it was very disappointing today. King prawn biriani was tasteless. It was as though it was cooked without spices. At a cost of £17 (I believe ) 4 prawns was very mean. I hope this was just a one off as I have always enjoyed their food.

Food was severed cold , took long when they had only few table . Staff was rude and disrespectful. Not worth going:(

Unquestionably some of the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten!! I had the signature dish (can’t remember the name) and it was out of the world, tender chicken and the perfect balance of flavour and spicy.. where you live in Kingston or not, if you like Indian food/curry this place is well worth a visit!!

Let’s get the negative out of the way first… restaurant was not very busy but service was extremely slow. I also understand that restaurant management/owners want to drum up business and encourage guests to visit, but one gentleman was a bit too pushy and naggy to any guests that paused at the restaurant menu. Definitely would have been a turn off if we weren’t craving Indian food. Now to the meal. A bit pricey but delicious butter chicken, garlic naan, and rice. Unfortunately the rice did not come as part of the butter chicken entree order, which was a surprising charge on the receipt. The butter chicken was flavorful, though not much meat was provided. The naan was crispy, buttery, with the perfect amount of garlic. The saffron rice was also a delicious accompaniment to the chicken entree. Overall, a tasty meal along the Thames.

Had booked this restaurant for meal after races at Sandown. We travelled down from North Wales on Thursday to attend races on Friday. Unfortunately the poor weather caused the races to be cancelled. Went to Chakra at 8.00pm as party of 6. Welcome was warm...

Absolute let down, was dead as a door nail on a lovely sunny day. We thought we’d be served well as their only customers and had looked up reviews so was curious. Food was cowboy and not proper Indian, they cut every corner they could...

Came as a group of 10 and drinks took 30 minutes to come despite it being the same drink for all of us (a pint of Cobra each), food took an hour to come out, we were missing multiple dishes we ordered and had to chase several times. My food was forgotten about (lamb korma) and then when it did come out, it was late, missing rice that I ordered and it was chicken korma that was raw so I couldn't eat it anyway. Rice also took longer to come out than was said. Our second round of drinks also took a long time to come out. All in all, the restaurant was understaffed, with our waiter run off his feet with no support from management and because of this mistakes were made.

We noticed that Chakra have started selling snack-type foods as takeaways - and they let us eat it in their outdoor, riverside patio. It was like a sub-continental tapas. The young waiter - Granth - was excellent: helped us select a couple of dishes, suggested...

The waitress was very friendly and atmosphere was great. However, the spices in the curry were not cooked properly and food was very spicy. Otherwise, would recommend.
