Chair and Chai in Elmbridge

We haven’t actually visited. I’m sure it’s very nice but they don’t take bookings. Not usually a problem but we’ll have a 90 year old with us and he’ll need to sit down. He’s also a local resident but no they wouldn’t budge. Most of us are travelling 2 hours to get to Walton. No they still wouldn’t budge. It’ll also be his birthday not that C & C would care about that and clearly wouldn’t make an exception. Disappointing.

Had a lovely panini for lunch the other day, a weekday. The presentation was great, much nicer than I expected. Service was good too, very friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Sooo I was up late the night before checking out the best places to go to for breakfast on Tripadvisor. My fella was celebrating his birthday on Good Friday and I wanted a special breakfast place to go too which was local to us. I was drawn to the Chair and Chai because everyone was raving about the great coffee and we really appreciate a fab coffee as we have a very good one at home and always comment that ours is better than anywhere we go. Yep....great coffee here so much so we had 2 each. Lovely lady taking orders. Great location...so close to town centre but very quiet area so felt really secluded and private which was wonderful. Incredibly clean. Can imagine it would be a lovely place to come for a private catch up with a good friend. Food was AMAZING. My fella really enjoyed his birthday breakfast and so did the kids. Clean plates and loads of smiles. Perfect choice. Thank you Chair and Chai. In the words of Arnie Schwarzenegger"We'll be back" ;0)

Great personal service from friendly polite staff . Food was fantastic. Very tasty and original and made to order . Portions generous . Very welcoming atmosphere . We came from Sussex and will be back next time we are in the area .

Nice independent cafe but can get very noisy so beware if you want to chat... Good menu choices and nice little seating area outside in nice weather too

Really great coffee. Breakfast very good too all freshly prepared. Small place so sometimes you have to be lucky to get a seat.

I often get a panini in here for lunch (the lovely owner always remembers my favourite the chicken, mozzarella, mushroom & onion) I have also taken my parents and son in there for a sit down lunch after dad completed his last cancer treatment. The waitress was so friendly, the chef always smiles and is a good cook! The cafe is clean, decorated well. I can't find a fault with this place. Highly recommend.

Great little independent cafe right in the middle of Walton. Dog friendly so when we’re dog sitting little Teddy we get a special welcome. Love the food and service in this great place. Coffee always lovely and service top notch.

I stumbled across this cafe, a bit away from the main shopping area and what a find. Clean, Friendly attentive staff, great service, fantastic food and very reasonably priced - What more could you ask for? The menu is interesting - ranging from cooked breakfasts, simple sandwiches, baked potatoes, omelettes to more interesting bruchettas, paninis, etc, with a modern twist. I've been there quite a few times now and tried a few a different thing each time. Each as good as the last. Do try it if you are looking for something to eat in Walton.

Some friends had been to try their new tapas offerings which they do on Friday and Saturday night and got us along to try. I’m glad they did as the food was excellent! They have a blackboard out the front offering a tapas social with limited choices and I thought that was all they did but they have a full on menu with a lot of choices, all were very good. Our friends were pushing the croquettes which I had tried elsewhere before and wasn’t keen on but here they were probably the best dish! Highly recommend and look forward to going back. Lovely staff and the Rioja we had was bang on.

This cafe turns into an excellent tapas restaurant on Friday and Saturday evenings. The food is very good but the thing that really makes it is the friendly staff and atmosphere. The staff go out of their way to chat to you and make sure you have exactly what you want. We have been twice this month and will go again.

Are here last night with friends . The Tapas evening on Friday and Saturday is s new venture this summer and it’s great . Lovely friendly atmosphere with attentive staff . All the food home cooked with some traditional favourites and some original concepts . Can recommend the special house salad , the calamari and good wine choices too . Even Sangria if you fancy it on a summer evening . We will be back !

Ate here tonight with friends on the first evening this cafe has been open for evening meals. The food was exceptionally good and staff very helpful and friendly. Very reasonable prices too and good choice. Especially recommend the calamari and pomegranate salad. We will definitely eat here again.

Shopping in Walton, tried to get lunch at a cafe in Bridge Street, absolutely heaving, thought I would go to Chair an Chai, a few yards away. Almost empty, I ordered a chicken, bacon an advocado panini. There was hardly any filling, the worst I had ever bought. Sitting by the window, I see builders from a near by construction site passing CHair an Chai and going to the other cafe. Chair an Chai, are really missing out, giving such small portions. Later on I was still pulling out of my brace long sinuses of something I presume from the chicken. Sorry guys your missing a trick with the builders, please up grade your portions and quality.

We all love the chair and chai .. relaxed ... great value ... wonderful owner and staff. The best kept ... and not so secret, place for coffee and food ... hi there!

What a great, clean cafe!! Friendly staff, best coffee and lovely food. Highly recommended! I`ve heard they opening Tapaz on 05th of May with tasting night on 24th of March (so soon)! Can`t wait!! Best spot in town!

Great food, friendly staff, reasonable prices and extra tables outdoor. The big advantage,that bistro is in the centre of Walton but in a small alley away from noise of town.

I visit this cafe every weekday. Although slightly out of the way, it is worth the trip. The food is great and the staff very attentive and friendly. Easy parking nearby. The best around. Paul Gibbs

This lovely little cafe has great service and a nice friendly feel to the place. The menu is hard to choose from with lots of choices. I’ve been quite a few times and never disappointed. The lasagne and Spanish omelette are not to be missed and great value for money.

He estado en una silla y Chai unas cuantas veces en el pasado y me pareció simplemente la cavidad media. El personal es buena y la ubicación, pero algunos de los platos era un poco decepcionante. Yo iría su nuevo pero no esperes comida increíble. Aparte de la comida del restaurante es muy agradable y lo recomiendo a muchas personas

Visité una silla y Chai hace unos días y me pareció normal en el mejor. Pedimos nuestra comida 10 minutos después de que habíamos llegado y que sorprendentemente llegó en 8 minutos. Mi hermano, que había conseguido el desayuno inglés, y mi mamá, quien había conseguido el huevo gigante o algo así, dijo que el desayuno era increíble. Sin embargo absolutamente mío. odié Yo había pedido los gofres y helados y sabía como algo completamente diferente. Me quedé muy decepcionado con mi desayuno y así era mi padre. Su desayuno así no era la mejor. Recomiendo venir aquí para un almuerzo, pero no desayuno (a menos que te pide el desayuno inglés. )

Buena manera de empezar el día. El desayuno es impresionante. El personal es amable y servicial. Haga el esfuerzo de visitar. Una amplia selección de comida. Muy europeo

Hay sólo unos pocos cafés donde podrá sentarse afuera en Walton, y este es un lugar estupendo lejos del corazón y High Street. Es un café agradable con comida sencilla (gratinados, patatas chaqueta, etc) y un buen café (incluyendo comida para llevar). También tiene una licencia en aparentemente.

Ocupado en un sábado a mediodía. Simple almuerzo (Bocadillos/corporales/Paninis/patatas chaqueta/desayunos). Buena relación calidad-precio para un almuerzo rápido.

Este es un café excelente. Excelente desayuno, aperitivos a mediados y almuerzo. El servicio es rápido y amable, y de buen grado para adaptar sus platos a sus preferencias. Estado muchas veces y siempre encantados de volver. Dales una oportunidad! No te arrepentirás.

We have been going here on Saturdays for a snack lunch for many years. We have a gentle and relaxed but unobtrusive relationship with the owner. It is always clean and the food is simple but fresh. There is much repeat custom and we often see familiar faces. It is lovely to find an independent where the service is consistently good and the staff are so pleasant. The big coffee chains need to learn a thing or to about clean tables and freshly presented food. It is tucked away and it is bijou but it is always well supported and is worth seeking out if like us you prefer to support a small quality business that deserves success.

Took our French friends here for breakfast on a Saturday recently and we all enjoyed it. Food nicely presented and a reasonable price. Nicely decorated with fun touches. Good service from the girls.

This is without doubt the best English breakfast around. I have been a breakfast regular for a couple of years and it never disappoints. The staff are amazing , friendly and efficient. It's not the cheapest around but it is value for money and top quality with all local produce. They even have a loyalty card, so I get a free coffee every now and then. Great atmosphere too.

Our youngest granddaughter loves the smoothies here. Really pleasant staff, fresh salads. The jackets are excellent value as is everything. Try the homemade lasagne, yummy. Nice election of cakes and tarts

Chair and Chai is everything that an independent café should be. Friendly, welcoming and so much better than a faceless chain. The service is impeccable, friendly without ever being intrusive. The food is fresh, tasty and obviously "homemade". It is excellent value for money and the cafe is always spotless. The many regulars are testament to the cafe's quality and exceptional customer care. As a regular café visitor I can say with absolute confidence that no other that match up to the overall Chair and Chai experience.

Wonderful little bistro to enjoy a coffee, breakfast, lunch with charming and attentive staff, just like popping in to see a friend. Well done ladies!

Just had a lunch here, very nice. We both had homemade lasagne, which was very tasty. The salad garnish was lovely, crispy and fresh. I had a very lemony homemade lemon meringue pie, my husband had the plum tart. No complaints, whatsoever. The place was quirky, the waitress very friendly, even though they were very busy. Tables were promptly cleared and cleaned. Everything was spotless. My husband had tried the lasagne the other week at a riverside pub in Walton, he thought this one far more tasty. Definately go there again. The smoothie was also yummy

Nice cafe for a cup of tea and lunch.I came here on a lunch break as I had walked past it a few times. I ordered a triple cheese ciabatta, which comes with a side salad. The ciabatta was lovely, generous on the cheese, not so generous on the side salad.Friendly and polite staff. Could have been quicker serving food, especially as salad was just a couple of strips of iceberg lettuce on a plate. Fine for a quick catch up with family/friend over a cuppa.

Walton is lacking in a great cafe for lunches and coffee/cake. Chair and Chai has potential but is lacking in quality in my opinion. The decor is odd. The food is ok but certainly nothing special, service was quick and friendly. The coffee was pretty rubbish... I went elsewhere after to get a decent coffee. I won't be returning unless things change which is a shame as I love a good cafe!

This cafe has lots of things going for it: quiet location yet within falling distance of Walton-on-Thames High Street, nice ambience and pleasant, speedy service. Unfortunately, I won't be visiting again. To see items on their menu such as "Tuna Mayonnaise", "Prawn Cocktail" and "Smoked Salmon Salad" marked with a "V" for vegetarian, does not inspire confidence in their cooking ability or knowledge.When I pointed out that these foods were not vegetarian, the waitress was polite but insistent that they were vegetarian as "vegetarians can eat fish, only vegans can't". I was disappointed at this lack of knowledge and surprised that even basic dietary awareness is absent and left wondering what non-vegetarian ingredients are hidden in the rest of the items marked "V" on their menu.Please, if the owner reads this, go to the Vegetarian Society website where you will find out that fish are not grains, pulses, nuts, seeds, vegetables or fruits and as such VEGETARIANS DO NOT EAT FISH. Anyone who says they do is wrong. So please do not identify non-vegetarian food as vegetarian on your menu. You need to ensure that all ingredients in anything you do say are vegetarian on your menu are indeed really vegetarian otherwise you will be losing a section of your potential clientel who need to have confidence that things they are eating are suitable for them.

A nice tucked away little place to relax and enjoy your meal after/during or before a hectic shopping trip. Friendly easy going service with great tasty food at reasonable prices. you feel relaxed there and it's like stepping out of Walton and taking a moment. You are able to sit and enjoy your coffee/meal without being rushed or feeling put out. The service is just right, enough to give you exactly what you need but not over the top. I recommend this to any weary shopper and would even make a trip just to go there.

I had a breakfast at this cafe. The menu was so ace it was very hard to choose. The food was very good quality the staff were very professional and friendly. Very comfortable warm place, clean plates and cutlery. I definitely highly recommend it and will be back for sure. Thank you for the amazing breakfast.
