Simply amazing. Simple, fresh, home cooked food made with love. Exceptionally clean premises, and fantastic service. We used to come a fair bit a decade ago, and just stopped again for old times sake. It hasn’t changed a bit!!! Thank you Cedar Café, can’t wait for our next visit, which won’t be in 10 years… promised!

Stopped off for a break on the way back down South after hearing it's dog friendly. Queued up inside with my dog sat beside me so I could order and we could eat outside. Approached by a waitress and told I couldn't bring my dog inside, when I stated I just wanted to order at the counter and eat outside I was told the dog had to be outside! I was next in line to be served so would have been there another 3 minutes at the most! Suffice to say we won't be back.

A charming cafe, set in countryside off the A1. The homemade soup was delicious and the staff were very pleasant. I only have one negative comment, which is that the disabled loo does not have a raised seat or grab bars. I think I scared my fellow diners with my shrieks of pain as I tried to stand up. It wouldn’t cost much to put in a seat raiser and toilet frame and would be very much appreciated by those of us who need it.

Called in as a break in our journey to Edinburgh, for a pit stop cuppa and a bite to eat,an afternoon breakfast, having done the same previously. Food is cooked to order, and is spot on. Some reviews I have read appear to want five star service, and Savoy style food, but if you look at the place for what it is a sort of family run roadside cafe with that in mind you won't go far wrong. Minor issue is the parking, which is gravel, but there is a hard standing space for two "Disabled parking", although it's a bit uneven, something of note for wheelchair users. As such you have to go in the exit and the low ramp could do with a look at, it's ok but a bit tight in places, maybe could be a bit wider, and with nothing to stop you going over the edge. There are no disabled toilets, but there is a "Council" toilet block not too far away. Not that we have used it. Whilst you can not cater for everyone, a suggested improvement would be to "level" the Disabled Parking area, as whilst it's fine for those who may use a stick, depending upon where you park transfer to from a wheelchair may be difficult, as it was for my Wife, who has to use a transfer board, and we found she was in a hollow when we came to get back in the car. So it was a bit more of an uphill struggle than she is used to. But as I state you carn't cater for everyone.

Absolutely fabulous value for money. It was very quiet with only one other customer so the service was excellent. It’s very warm and inviting inside and the display of cakes is excellent. The menu is extremely varied and there is lots of value for money. Do not expect a small portion here everything is jumbo size. The seating area was clean and tidy. The decor is quirky. There are children’s highchairs available. The staff were very friendly and made sure we had everything. There is an area outside specially designed for those who come with the dogs because they are made very welcome. They have their own little Dughouse. There is a very large carpark. We stopped here on our way back from Edinburgh. After asking if we could bring our dog inside, we were shown to the little “doghouse”, a lovely summerhouse with tables and seating. The waitress put the heating on for us straight away and it was lovely and cosy. The food was very nice and plenty of it. I would definitely stop there again and can really recommend it. The staff were lovely and the overall service was great.

Once again a fantastic meal at the Cedars. Both had steak pie, with 5 veggies and potatoes. All fresh veg and best steak pie we have tasted in a long time.

You know there ain't much by way of roadside cafes/diners between Berwick and Edinburgh so this place is ideal. It's set back from the main A1 on what I guess is an old version of the road.

On a long journey up to Scotland we stopped here for a late lunch. Being a veggie I couldn't see anything on the menu but rest assured they put together a great all day breakfast for me. My friends were well impressed by the meal presented to me and with a cup of tea it all came to just £5. Thanks guys it was delicious.

Had Sunday lunch in the cedar cafe today. Excellent meal, the beef melted in your mouth and the Yorkshire pud was fab. Lots of lovely veg to. The staff were very efficient and friendly, nothing was to much trouble. The cafe was spotless and so were the toilets. Such a pleasant place to have lunch. 10/10 will definitely visit again.

I had a tasty Cumberland sausage with fries and vegetables as sides. The vegetables were fresh, and so was the salad. They use local products (eggs, meat...) which is a big plus. Service was also excellent and efficient. The portion size was a bit too big for me. The price was fair. More than you would expect from a roadside Cafe!

Spotless as ever, choices of 3 main breakfasts and happy to chop and change within the menu items as well. Very tasty without being at all greasy. Couldn't fault at all...

Stumbled upon this hidden gem near the end of a 6 hour drive to Edinburgh when we were all desperate for a pee and a tea (in that order)

We stopped here briefly on our way from York to Edinburgh, with our fingers crossed that the loos wouldn’t be too dirty to change the baby in and with very little expectation above that. In fact it’s a perfectly reasonable cafe, scrupulously clean, with a range of sandwiches, hot meals and puddings that are substantial rather than elegant. Our expectations were exceeded.
