Cecchini's Restaurant in South Ayrshire

Currently staying nearby on holiday and visited here with my wife and 11 month old baby. Booked online which was straightforward and we were greeted with a smile when we arrived. Food was really good and the staff were very friendly. Restaurant is nicely decorated and very clean with a good ambience. Would definitely recommend visiting.

Never been to the restaurant before and wondered what it would be like? First thing that stood out was the recent refurbishment, the bar and dining area is really,really smart. The service from Liam today was excellent as well. We were here with an Itison deal and I must say that there was plenty to choose from. My wife picked a pasta and pizza which Liam kindly offered to split it for us without being prompted which was nice to see. Everything we had to eat was first class and nice and warm. Based on this experience, we will definitely return. We did notice on the way out you can get a pizza & pasta for two on a Monday and Wednesday which is excellent value for money!

The staff were very nice and helpful but the main course was very expensive and the stuffed peppers were completely raw.

Valentines dinner on recent visit to Ayr. Andrew and his team make you feel very welcome. Fab food and service. Will definitely be back on a return visit to the area.

Restaurant is beautifully decorated. Enjoyed a night here with family and friends. The pizzas in particular were most enjoyable, really authentic. Compliments to chef. Will definitely be back.

Hubby booked for my birthday but quite disappointing. No Xmas atmosphere, crackers etc. Menu probably ok for pasta, risotto or pizza but not an authentic Italian. Told no longer do steaks due to supplier issues since COVID?? No veal or mussels. Hubby’s mash tasted like Packet smash, dismissed when mentioned. My salmon dish said it came with boiled potatoes but got equivalent of 1 potato roasted. Has COVID had an impact on spuds too?

Very dissatisfied with how the waitress handled my feedback that a piece of my chicken tempura (starter) was still pink and veiny. I was enjoying the meal otherwise so after finding the pink chicken I decided to eat the other pieces which were cooked fine. I didn’t want to cause a fuss but I felt it was only right to highlight it. I waited until the waitress came to collect the plates and informed her of what I’d found. She said she would speak with the chef. When she returned she told me “the chef said it’s just veins”, which it wasn’t and still without an apology for us. To be honest, I wouldn’t eat veiny chicken in my own home never mind expect it in a restaurant. I told her it wasn’t just veiny, which she again argued back that the chef said otherwise. I told her that’s not the case and I was only highlighting because my girlfriend who is pregnant was sharing with me and I didn’t want her or anyone else getting ill. She really didn’t know how to respond in a manner-able way so she just stared at me. You could clearly see on her face, that what I said had been taken personally and her demeanour changed. No mention of scrubbing this item off the bill or any further apologies, she returned to her colleagues and proceeded to talk about us. Our main came and there were no complaints, we both enjoyed the food. The same waitress continued to serve us and it appeared she was back to behaving normally again. However as we were about to pay and leave, I happened to look in her direction and caught her eyeline. She was staring at me and continued to do so until she ended it with a dirty look. Safe to say I will not be back. I said that the last time but we had an itison voucher to use otherwise I wouldn’t of been anywhere near the place. Real shame as once upon a time this place was good. I can’t remember the last time I heard anyone say anything good about it and we did hope when coming again, that it would prove us wrong. The itison promotions tell you all you need to know…

We travelled to Ayr for some business in Wellington Square and really needed a coffee afterwards for our journey back up the M77, so we were delighted to see an Italian restaurant offering takeaways. They had no oat milk, but I found a shop nearby which sold it, so I bought some and went back for 3 black coffees. Long story short, what I was sold was coffee-flavoured water (literally, because I actually think the guy used one shot of coffee between 3 large takeaway cups and boiled a kettle to fill them up with water). I hope the food is better than the coffee.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meals last Saturday night. Food 10/10 Drinks 10/10 Desert 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Service 10/10 Thoroughly recommend this etablishment.

What a lovely restaurant we stopped here for dinner on a very wet night in Ayr Parking was free just across the road of an evening which was a bonus We ordered lasagna and Italian sausage penne pasta plus a side of garlic bread The food arrived quickly and was delicious. Italian food is one of our favourites and this definitely didn't disappoint. We ordered a honeycomb cheesecake and 2 spoons to share and a macciato coffee for dessert. The team were very friendly and attentive and couldn't fault the service or food Definitely worth trying

Absolutely lovely food and service here, so much so we came back for a second meal a few days later during our holiday. The food was excellent and very quick to come out from ordering. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Brilliant evening for our family on both occasions.

Turned up no notice while on holiday and asked for a table for 6 dults and 6 kids, ( most places would fluster) not here though, within a couple of minutes we were all seated and comfortable in this lovely restaurant, food was exceptional from the pasta to pizza, prawns, calzone to name but a few and kids menu was great for the little ones, nothing was too much trouble for the great staff and oh my can the knock up a great cocktail ' excellent from start to finish,,,, fantastic service, food and atmosphere, very well done can't wait to come back, 😊

The restaurant was well decorated and the service was good. However the food was not the standard or what I expected. I had expected fried chicken breast and instead I got a steamed chicken breast, a plateful of potatoes and a few carrots, root vegetable mix was mentioned on the menu- not sure that I was expecting carrots !

Excellent in every way. Very attentive, very obliging, I asked for a starter that wasn’t on the menu. Quick service without being rushed. Excellent food, great childs menu, build your own pizza. Good value, we will definitely be back.

We recently ate here as part of a very large party (50+). In these circumstances, we expected functional food with (hopefully) efficient service. To our surprise, the food was much better than functional; it was very tasty (and generous!). Service was indeed efficient, but also friendly and professional.

After a wonderful day exploring Ayrshire my friend and I decided to stop for lunch and opted for this little place in centre of Ayr . Pleased to say we made a great choice . The staff are very friendly and helpful which is great . We went for the £13 trattoria menu and it was very good value . For starters we went for the soup of the day and mozarella sticks which was very tasty . The soup was carrot and orange plus a side of chilli bread . The mozzarella sticks was accompanied by a cranberry jam . For our mains we opted for arribiata and chicken Milanese with spaghetti . Both of them were very satisfying and really filled a spot . If you are looking for a cozy little Italian restaurant with great value then definitely give this place a try . You will not be disappointed .

Over the years my husband and I have been regular patrons of all of the Cecchini’s restaurants and have always enjoyed our food. Sadly after dining in the Ayr restaurant last night I doubt very much if I will be back. Our starter was ordered by 6.50pm but was not served for at least 20 minutes, the soup was not very warm but as I don’t like to complain I decided not to say anything. We then had another significant wait before our main course was served. The lasagna I ordered was definitely “Not”worth the wait. The lasagna was nothing short of a large dish of mascarpone and tomato sauce with melted cheese through it and a very small piece of a pasta sheet, no meat sauce to note. The first time I’ve had to eat lasagne with a spoon. This time I did complain to the waiter and he did have the lasagna replaced, but this was not much better. When clearing our plates the server asked if the replacement lasagna was better I told him no and that I was very disappointed. An apology was given, but I’m doubtful of how genuine the apology was. I do try to support local family businesses, especially during the past year and a half, but sadly unless Cecchinis up their game I will not be back.

I was with my husband for the weekend. As soon as we entered the staff were so friendly and welcoming and showed us to our table. The food was gorgeous. We shared pizza and pasta along with a couple of glasses of wine. Keep up the great work team. Thank you so much

Nice environment, clean and decorated nicely. Menu offers more than Italian so would be a good choice for families. Everyone’s food was ok but it all needed a bit more seasoning. Staff were really nice, we would go back again.

Booked ahead to ensure a meal based on TA reviews. Very busy on arrival but drinks and food orders were timely. The restaurant got very quiet after about an hour and everything slowed down. We were asked about dessert but the waiter must have forgotten as the menus didn’t arrive for what seemed quite a while. However the delivery was quick after that order. The food was great the lasagna was tasty and a good size of portion. The stuffed peppers were flavoursome and the salad very fresh. Cost was reasonable for two mains, two desserts, two wines two gins for around £50. I would certainly agree with previous comments about the staff being attentive (generally) . The reasons for 4* are personal ones, no one checked about our covid registration which seems a failing given that we were given free testing kits 24 hours before because of rising numbers locally. I also felt that seats should be cleaned between customers as well as tables and salt and pepper cellars. And, I am of the generation where wiping a table meant clearing any food debris or crumbs into a cloth or even a hand, but the normal behaviour now seems to be to push these things onto the floor so the table is clean but the next customer can grind this dirt into the carpet or carry it out on their shoes. Not acceptable in my eyes but clearly acceptable by management in this restaurant.

Went in here after a terrible experience in a nearby Indian!! Wish I had just went here straight away!!! Staff were excellent, very polite and attentive without being in your face. The food was excellent. Well worth a visit!

Went here for a change from the hotel. Was very busy but we were well looked after, the food was very good and plentiful, and not overpriced.

My wife and I really enjoyed our meal at Cecchini's. My wife is Coeliac and was able to enjoy Gluten free pasta and I had king prawns and an excellent pizza. The staff were welcoming and attentive, the food was well cooked and served speedily. There is a good choice of drinks and the decor and ambience of the restaurant are both really nice. Definitely recommended.

Great food, we had the Pollo and Lasagna, very tasty! Staff were really attentive but not in your face. Nice environment too. Rang up to book and the guy was pleasant and helpful.

Arrived at restaurant to meet a friend and it looked lovely but was not busy. Once seated and looked at menu the waiter asked for order, I asked for the dessert menu as I like to make a decision on whether to have a starter or dessert. The waiter told me in an abrupt voice that I would be given the menu after main course. I explained why I wanted it and he tutted and stormed off to get me one. All staff hovering around the tables and it felt uncomfortable, after eating a starter the plate was removed so fast barely had time to put down cutlery! The same happened after mains and friends dessert. We were then immediately asked if we wanted anything else and asked for another drink. We had only been in the restaurant just under an hour. At this point we were told our table would be needed, we asked when and again very abruptly told "right now". Needless to say we paid immediately and left. Also food polo, and pasta, was very plain and simple not really impressed and will not return. I understand the covid situation but every other cafe, restaurant I have been to gives at least 90 minutes per table as per Government guidelines.

We had a lovely meal here. The food was great (the starters were hearty, which was good because we were starving) and the service was excellent - nothing pushy but just there at the right moment.

Superb Cecchini pizza was first rate. Pate and garlic bread lovely as was the chicken tempura. Nice bottle of Trebbiano. First class service.

I organised a dinner for 45 people at Cecchini's of Ayr and was delighted with the service and the food. Andrew Harrop, the Manager, could not do enough to help both before and during the evening. He and his staff were efficient, courteous and pleasant and the food was delicious. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.They do a special two course deal until 6.30pm for £13.95 which is excellent value. I will certainly return. Thank you Andrew and all your staff.

Quite a large restaurant, really nicely set out and decorated. Service was prompt and friendly throughout. The menu is typically Italian and plenty of variety at sensible prices. All in all an enjoyable meal and experience.

Brilliant meal....especially since I asked for more sauce, I like sloppy foods, plate immediately taken away and replaced. On desert menu different liqueur was substituted with no hesitation. Friendly service with professional attitude to queries. Thank you.

We were in town for a wedding and had dinner here on a Saturday night with no prior booking. The staff were super friendly from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious - great value and the atmosphere was nicely relaxed.Tables were still distanced at that point and face coverings were worn by most customers and all staff, making it feel very covid safe (or as safe as it is possible to be!).It’s a shame we don’t live closer as we’d definitely be back! If we’re visiting again we’ll be there though.

Shockingly rude attitude from manager of restaurant. Had table booked for brother's 30th and got call from manager saying that he would have to cancel due to having a wedding party coming in that he "just couldn't pass up" despite our table being booked first and that he would try and fit us in if possible only for him to then call back and say it wasn't a wedding after all and he could just sit us at the same table for this party that was coming in. Never mind that covid is still a thing and we don't want to share a table with random strangers. That is not acceptable at all, shows very poor, money grabbing attitude, no idea how many other people's reservations he thought it was ok to just cancel for no real reason. Will not ever be going to this restaurant again because they obviously don't actually care about their customers. Very very rude and disappointing. Hope it was worth it and hope he lost the other customers he cancelled as well due to "just not being able to pass this up".

Wow. Having read the reviews I knew the place was worth a try and I was not disappointed. We were seated quickly and the service was excellent and pleasant. We had mains of Penne Saucisse Napoli, Penne Napoli, Chicken Tempura and Lasagna. My personal choice of the Saucisse had the perfect blend of taste and heat. I ordered a side of Garlic Pizza Bread which tasted heavenly. Our youngest ordered the Lasagna and proclaimed it the best Lasagna he’d ever eaten in a restaurant, high praise indeed. All reasonably priced with four mains, two sides and six drinks at £67. I hope to be back again soon.

Don't do Italian food much ,been here twice in three days ,its amazing quality and such a friendly place

We called on the off chance of getting a table as all the restaurants nearer our accommodation were fully booked, they found us a table without us having to wait although we could see they were very busy.

We had an excellent time with great food and excellent service and all at a reasonable price. I had the battered haddock. My wife had the cajun burger and my daughter had the best macaroni cheese ever and that's a bold statement from her.

We visit several times a year, both Cecchini's in Ayr and in Ardrossan (when we are travelling to and from the Isle of Arran), but this was the first time our granddaughter has accompanied us. At 4 years old, she was delighted with the menu, featuring Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, Ben & Holly and more, and the choices available to her could not have been more varied, absolutely ideal. She chose the fruit platter, the build-your-own pizza, and then finished with vanilla ice-cream and chocolate/wafer sticks. What a brilliant idea to engage a child - the pan containing the fresh uncooked pizza base, and two little dishes containing the tomato-based sauce, and the grated cheese, delivered to her and she then enjoyed "creating" her pizza. Our lovely server explained to her that he was taking it back to the kitchen for chef to cook in the oven for her and it would come back cooked together with our meals. From our warm welcome, continuing on to our very friendly and professional service, our visit was very enjoyable, and the food excellent.Good job, team Cecchini, we'll be back soon.

A must visit if you are in Ayr, service & food some of the best we have had, friendly and helpful staff great food & enjoyable atmosphere at reasonable prices.

We selected this restaurant from it's high TripAdvisor rating while staying in Ayr on holiday but were sadly disappointed. Service was poor, food did not live up to our expectations and the prices were high given the poor quality. We shan't be returning or recommending.

While out for a drive with my partner we went looking for a nice place for some Lunch and so glad we went in to Cecchini.We went for the Two course at £13:95 .We had Funghi and Mozzarella.Then chicken Breast In Breadcrumbs with Spaghetti .Food was Fantastic.Staff really friendly and restaurant is lovely and so relaxing inside.Will make sure we return again

My partner and myself fancied a wee run to Ayr, as we were both of work together for a change. After a visit down to the beach, we decided to look for somewhere to have a spot of lunch. On entering this lovely Italian restaurant, there is a sign on the door that face masks must be worn on entering the restaurant. We hadn’t reserved a table, but this didn’t seem to be a problem. We we shown to a table, and asked to sign in with the track and trace app. They were doing an lunchtime deal, two courses for £13.95, so my partner decided to have mushrooms in a lovely mushroom sauce served with small pieces of bread and I had the mozzarella sticks as our starters, and we both thoroughly enjoyed them. We had ordered both starters and mains together, and they were quite quick serving our food, for our main we had both ordered the same items, which was chicken escalopes served with spaghetti at the side, again we absolutely loved the meals, the mains were quite big portions, probably as big as the normal evening meal menu. Would highly recommend this restaurant, and we will definitely return for a spot of lunch or dinner in the future. 10 out of 10 for cleanliness, service and quality of the food.

I went to cecchinis tonight with my mum she had a a pasta dish and I had macaroni we came here the night before and it was a great experience.

Visited 4th October around 7pm. Lovely welcome lovely surroundings. I had lasagne which comes with garlic bread and my husband had a calzone with meatballs. We shared cheesy garlic bread for starters. Would definitely recommend and will return when we visit Ayr.

Food good. Service good. However I fail to understand why we were all huddled into a small space when the restaurant is so large and they could have implemented their Covid policy more effectively by spacing people out to conform with physical distancing requirements. And there needs to be additional Covid training to staff cleaning tables/chairs between customers.

I dropped in on a business trip and ordered the Chicken Tempura. It was very average and very disappointing. Probably frozen. The service was okay but it just left me feeling that I should have gone elsewhere. Maybe I should have ordered something else.

Went to Cecchinis’s with a small family group for dinner. The food was excellent and we will definitely go back. We had a few vulnerable people in our group but we felt very safe. Plenty of screens and the social distancing was well supervised . Staff were excellent

Visited here on Bank Holiday Weekend.We were able to walk in on Saturday afternoon for some lunch and then we booked in for Sunday night.Lovely atmosphere,staff friendly ,food and drink were good.The bonus was , this place was only a 8minute walk from our Guesthouse .Typical Italian menu , pizza was lovely but didn't get a pic !!

Excellent food, lovely staff and very comfortable surroundings. Due to Covid I’ve been nervous about eating out but the tables were properly distanced and staff all followed the rules which made me feel relaxed. Would highly recommend.

Visited here last week while holidaying in Ayr. We were welcomed to the restaurant and first impressions were that it looked very nice. We ordered a pizza base garlic bread and olives to start followed by 4 pizzas and Tempura chicken. Unfortunately the pizza bases were of very poor quality and not the usual amount/quality of cheese you would find on an Italian restaurant pizza. They resembled shop bought pizzas and tasted no better. The tempura chicken tasted very bland and not very appetising. When we received the bill the prices did not match the menu. We complained and after a lengthy wait someone explained that the whole restaurant had been given the lunch menu. The bill was corrected without any apologies. There was no atmosphere, the food was poor and the drinks were expensive. It is not a restaurant we will be returning to.

Lovely set out restaurant the food and service was excellent would certainly recommend to others. Only bad point the soft drinks are very expensive so I would suggest water.

The restaurant has a great ambiance and makes you feel relaxed and safe with tables well separated and staff wearing face coverings. The staff were attentive and approachable and great with the kids and then there was the food..omg! We all had starters and mains and every bit was delicious! It is very reasonably priced, there is a la carte or set menu choices and also kids eat free with a la carte! We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

This party were visually impaired and the table we were given was not suitable as there were guide dogs which upset them as the staff had to get into a cupboard all the time and it was a bit of putting meal was OK staff were run off their feet but still very cheerful

a well situated Italian restaurant, and very comfortable, internally. The staff are efficient and amenable and the food is of excellent quality, although at the high end of the price scale, for Italian food. The starters are most definitely at the 'pricy' end.

Really enjoyed our meals here we had two adults and two young children and the price was great kids main meal were free with adult meal. We only paid 2.50 each for their desserts and they provided a dairy gluten free option for my child. The service is of very high standard and very friendly, and the food is amazing !! so fresh and olives and bread were delicious. Not been for over a year still excellent service and food. Goats cheese starter and mushrooms could not be faulted. Risotto excellent a little to much couldn’t finish it. Smoked fish in risotto and pasta dish lovely smoked not over powering. Pizza garlic bread thin crispy and a joy to wipe your plate clean with. Smoothest dacquri every had must visit again

13 of us went out to Cecchini's for a new years eve party night. They absolutely nailed it! Meal was excellent, disco was a bit slow in getting started but when it got going, what a fun time had by all. Table service all night for drinks, never had to wait until our drinks were finished as someone was at the table when we were nearly finished. It was just a super night.Weldone to all the staff at Cecchini's.

It was our group's Christmas lunch and we go to Cecchini's every year. As usual, we weren't disappointed. Fast friendly service, delicious food and a great choice of menu. I can thoroughly recommend Cecchini's

Good food, pleasant staff, lovely surroundings, ideal to have a really good dining in experience. Atmosphere and ambiance very good, all meals reasonably priced and good selection of wine by the glass. Would highly recommend this restaurant for all occasions.

As soon as we walked in and greeted by Andy, we thought the restaurant looked very nice and welcoming. Shown to our table, not rushed but efficient and polite.

Lekkere gerechten. Een mooi en proper restaurant. Het geheel oogt wat goedkoop. (Plastic menukaart en dergelijke) maar de gerechten zijn erg lekker. Heerlijke dunne pizza. De rode huiswijn is vol van smaak. Kortom, prima prijs kwaliteit verhouding.

Food was delicious and service was excellent. Good atmosphere in the restaurant, was there for a special birthday, and really enjoyed it until it came time to pay . We had to pay a deposit to book table, but for some reason the waiter had to scrutinise the confirmation email saying that deposit was made , surely he could had checked the email from his side leaving us with a shred of dignity.

Met my old school friends for dinner here. I chose the restaurant by the reviews on Tripadvisor and was very impressed - pleased I took the advice from the website.

We had a very dinner at cecchini's in Ayr. Two pasta dishes, one with fish and shrimp, the other with veal. Both were very well done. However the choice of wine, beer and whiskey was rather slim. But quick and friendly service helped alleviate that, as well as a lovely dessert menu. Tiramisu was well done, but the sticky toffee pudding was just divine!

Fine views of the sea, good service, nice restaurant, nice food, excellent value- especially for kids.

Wonderful restaurant, great food and amazing staff that made us feel so welcome. Had our testing 2yo boy and our 2 daughters the staff couldn't do more for us. Very family orientated establishment and worth the 400 mile journey!!!

We had 2 family visits during school holidays and this restaurant has improved. Good portions, very authentic and the kids eat free offer ensures great value. Both our visits had plenty polite staff. We will be sure to make more regular visits.

Went in on a Saturday night around 7.30 PM. I ordered a pizza and my wife ordered lasagne. The pizza was very small for the price .stay 2 mins from the place ,but wouldn't hurry back unless it was for pre theatre

We came across this restaurant on a wet Sunday afternoon. It wasnt overly busy but the staff were very friendly and attentive. A mozzarella, tomato and basil panini with fries and a tuna panini went down well. A bottle of mineral water, a couple of small glasses of wine and two excellent espresso's brough the bill to about £30. The coffee was absolutely superb, its worth a trip just for that.

Not a huge fan of Italians outside of Italy but these guys have raised their game and the food we ate tonight was very good. The service is cheeky and friendly! Inexpensive. Well done!!!

5 of us had an evening meal here again, it did not disappoint. Service was good and prompt food was good and reasonably prices. We come from the nE scotland where dining out is not cheap so we were happy with the rpice we paid.
