Great little community centre with gift-shop, cafe and music venue. We stopped for tea and coffee and a cake. There is a small car park and on street parking nearby.

Arts centre with a nice cafe at the back. Super scones and yummy cakes.

We popped in to Cat Strand on the back of previous reviews on TA and weren’t disappointed. It is a very well designed and furnished place in an old school building and includes a rather good gift shop as well as an auditorium and various art works on the walls. Our prime reason for visiting was the cafe and although we missed the hot snacks serving slot (finishes at two) we enjoyed a pot of tea and a couple of excellent fruit scones. The service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Well done to all for what you have achieved here.

Local residents and visitors are fortunate to have such an important amenity in New Galloway. Catstrand functions as a vibrant centre for the arts with a full programme of events throughout the year. There is a café open from 11 till 4 each day offering tasty light meals and excellent coffee and cakes. There are attractive gift items in the adjacent shop and lots of information about the area useful to all who visit. The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful. I can't recommend this venue too highly.

Had a nice cuppa & a scone here, prices were good for the food! Not much to the place if you’re not there for a show but worth a visit to see the local art & have a wee bite if you’re not.

Lovely art centre and a nice place to stop for a well-earned coffee.

This is a gem of a find. We stopped here for lunch on our way back from Newton Stewart. It’s a really cute café with a great menu. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely. It made the perfect end to our mini break.

The Cat Strand is a great little venue. It only seats 70 ish so it's quite intimate. It has a nice coffee, a well stocked bar and an intresting shop.

Great staff , very friendly food reasonably priced. Very clean and bright

The best scones we've had in ages. Light and tasty with delicious homemade jam and fresh cream and made by a member of the staff that morning. We'll definitely be back for more. The centre was interesting to look around and the facilities were clean and tidy.

A must call in place whenever I'm passing. After today's cycle ride up the Raiders Road I needed some carbs and caffeine. Again they never disappoint - Lovely service, exceptional cream Tea & and a lovely place for nice wee break on route back to CD.

Well equipped and friendly local centre with an excellent and very reasonably priced café. Great toasties, and particularly recommend the carrot cake for dessert!

I brought my friend from Glasgow here yesterday? Baked potatoes are beautifully presented with a gorgeous salad❤️Brian and the staff are a terrific asset to this place with lots going on? Their welcoming approach has made this my favourite lunchtime retreat❤️ We where the girls arguing over who pays for the lunch and scones😂sorry Thanks x

What an absolute gem of a find. Fantastic sandwiches and snacks at a very reasonable price. This place is well worth driving a little out of the way for.

Great community run Cafe and concert and arts venue. Set in beautiful rural Dumfries and Galloway this Cafe sells simple, but delicious meals and snacks. Staff are great from the front of house to the kitchen staff. We always stop by here if we are in the area. Since my last visit the lunch menu is now only served until 2.30 pm. I arrived at 3pm and the only options are drinks and cakes. I was disappointed but ill know for next time to arrive earlier as its still a great venue.

Really well run interesting arts centre in New Galloway. Very much the centre of the village. Scotland's sense of community in small places is up another complete level to the rest of the country. Even struggling villages hold themselves together in a way certainly English villages would have no concept of. Cafe great with great coffee and cakes

Pleasant place for a Coffee and Cake

I stopped here with 30 friends for lunch during a road trip. We had advised that we were coming and were met with an excellent buffet lunch. The staff were fantastic and I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Ps my wife says the gift shop was excellent.

Lovely cafe, good value, friendly service. Visited on a warm day so enjoyed the outdoor tables. Plentiful pot of tea and a good selection of homemade cakes. I enjoyed the coconut slice. Clean toilets. It was nice to find an open cafe in a pleasant town in an area severely lacking in nice places to eat.

Love this little spot. Found this whilst travelling the SWC300 and found ourselves back here again today. They have indoor and outdoor seating and do a mean coffee and cake... Perfect!

Love this place for gigs So intimate

Popped to New Galloway looking for some toilets and whilst there came across this gem 🙂 has a gift shop and lovely cafe we had a great lunch. The staff were lovely and the food and service was amazing so a big thanks to everyone at Catstrand you have a great wee place.

Great little venue. Popped in for open mic night and witnessed some fantastic local talent. Very welcoming, and drinks prices very reasonable, too.

Cat Strand has a car park nearby. Outside seating is available. The shop has a wide range of books, craft items, art works, pottery, etc. Plenty to choose from and the prices match the items in terms of art, craftsmanship, etc. You get a warm welcome and the airy and attractive cafe has a fair amount of seating. It is popular with locals, cyclists, etc. The photograph albums show the effirt that went into creating this community resource.

Attended concert here. A really good small venue with a bar for the concert. Great sound and lights, proper professional production.

Whilst staying in the area….we met up with a friend for lunch. Staff all very welcoming and friendly. Great choice of menu. Food excellent. Great place, little shop too. Saw that they have music nights, art sales etc. would recommend

Lovely community centre shop and cafe with an arts theme. Friendly, helpful staff - the whole place has real buzz to it. The place to find out about local goings on. Don't forget to try out the cafe.

Lovely place to stop before embarking on The Queen's Way. The gift shop has a good assortment of gifts that celebrate Scottish culture and heritage. The Cafe offers a variety of soups, sandwiches, quiche, and both hot and cold drinks. Enjoy the view of local artwork while enjoying a delicious treat. Maps can be found as well as other helpful information for navigating The Queen's Way. And last, but maybe most importantly, everyone was so friendly and welcoming!

A super small community venue. Had a shop, cafe and an auditorium. We attended a local concert Sat 3rd Dec by Zoë Bestel, Kate Kyle & Eilidh McGrath Entertaining evening.

Visited here by chance when we were staying in the neighbourhood. A very friendly place. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The homemade cake I tasted was delicious. This is like a small community centre and it was good to wander round. My husband was looking at some maps on the wall as we intended do some walking after our lunch. One of the locals came over to see if he needed help - and gave him lots of advice about where to go locally. I would definitely return here

We had a beautiful, fresh lunch yesterday which was perfect in an ideal setting and the COFFEE is out of this world. The gift shop has a lovely selection of gifts, toys, jewellery and artwork and i was very impressed with their auditorium theatre which we might be using in 2023 to do Flamenco dance workshops! First Class food, First class service and 10 out of 10 for their sandwiches, soups and bacon butties.....you can TASTE the QUALITY.

This is a great community centre that has a gift shop, with a wonderful range of gifts and cards, a licensed cafe at the rear, that does a delicious lunch, cakes and drinks - I had baked potato that came with a wonderful salad - and then on various dates there is live entertainment. All this in a small community that sits in the Galloway Forest, so lots of places to go to after lunch Update: Sat outside, very pleasant, and interesting story about an unexpected flood in the building in 2017

Brilliant community based enterprise. Friendly, helpful staff, very good cafe and shop. The whole place has real energy, with lots of live performances in the theatre, but also lots of community activities taking place .

Lovely location and not only that but all the staff are so amazing and helpful, it feels as if they are working there too help the community rather than just to get money which is great as that is what the local area needs.

Lovely little community arts and cafe centre. We visited for lunch - sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes and homemade quiche and soup on offer - all fresh and tasty with salad. Friendly and swift service in a light and airy room, with art work on display.

Nice wee place to visit on a trip here. Went round the shop and saw some interesting artwork from various artists. Staff were welcoming and friendly. There was a cafe to the back but we didn't stay for any food. Amazing cow sculpture out at the front which I believe is on tour.

Found this on the way from Loch Ken to Dalbeattie. Gallery and shop. Cafe available but didn't go in. Seemed to be a bit too upmarket for me, too arty. Wicker bull impressive outside. Did have a laugh at what some kids had done with the soft toys in the gift shop, lol

Visited CatStrand for an impromptu family lunch when I was in the area with my children. It was my first time eating out since lockdown had eased and I was really impressed with the welcome we received and how clear everything was laid out. Excellent service by a highly proficient staff and we really enjoyed our lunch. It arrived quickly, it was really tasty and had clearly been freshly made. I cannot fault CatStrand and I would gladly visit again.
