Cat Pawcino Cat Cafe in Newcastle upon Tyne

I'm very disappointed me my grandma and sister were looking forward to this visit we walked in and the smell of cat urine and poo was disgusting not very much seating at all the cats didn't seem interested in us at all due to the fact they were being chased by kids the hole time and the staff didn't seem bothered at all and werent very friendly the food was overpriced I was unhappy with my iced coffee as it came Luke warm and with no ice all together we paid £31 to be sat in a smelly room wouldn't recommend.

Very cute small cafe with a range of cats to interact with. There was only staff member on and it took a while for them to notice we had arrived but we still got the full hour that was paid for. Food options are limited but the coffee is decent. Overall very good and makes for a cheap day out.

Staff were very friendly and accomodating of my daughters food allergies, the cats are clearly well cared for and the vibe of the whole place was very good. My girls loved it and we'll definitely be back

I paid £14 altogether: for my two other friends to get in, ontop of a diet coke and hot chocolate. I paid to get scratched and have nails dug into my skin until I bled by a cat who needed their nails cut. Put holes in my new top too which was unfortunate, the cats aren't exactly interactive but I can't blame them.

Absolutely loved this place .called today with my wife.the cats were lovely and friendly as were the wonderful staff.will keep calling her.what a stressbuster.❤️❤️❤️❤️

Quite dirty and unpleasant. The Café has a very strong smell of urine, and there was a poop on one of the seating cushions. The staff wasn't very welcoming. The cats avoid human touch - are probably overestimated. Very disappointed 😞

Lots of amazing and cute cats. The cats aren't allowed to eat your food but it is your job to keep it away making it slightly difficult to eat at some points. There isn't much food on the menu however and it's clearly more oriented around the cats than the food.

The only thing I would change is please would they give out the Dreamies a bit sooner so we get to play with the little beauties for longer! Food and drink was pleasant and prompt. The lady did a fabulous job of hostessing!

I had been looking forward to coming here for ages. Upon arriving I couldn’t help but notice it was a very bland, small interior with very little decoration. The attitude of the lady who served us stunk. Rude and unfriendly. Just a whole “okay you’re done, now get out” vibe, and the menu wasn’t worth the price. The cats were lovely, but I was surprised they allowed cats that nip. A huge disappointment. Mog on the Tyne next time.

Its a lovely cafe, hot chocolates were really good and the caramel shortbread was great too, the cats were very chilled out and didn't seem to mind us all coming in and sitting down and we had good interactions with them all, the environment was really good and the staff gave us treats to feed the cats.

I love the cats!!! The service was amazing, super friendly staff, even handed out cat treats to feed the cats. Ill be back soon ☺️

Was disappointed at the poorly kept cafe. The smell was unbearable especially if you went near the stairs where their litter boxes are probably kept. As a cat owner myself, this is not the normal level of odour. I’ve also visited several cat cafes in Newcastle and out and this is not the standard of hygiene. There was one worker when we were visiting, she offered us treats to feed the cats. The cats was uninterested in us without the treats. Not the fault of the cats of course. Hope the management can sort this out. Otherwise this would be a lovely place to hang with cats in a great location by the quay.

CatPawCino Cat Café is a delightful place to visit if you’re a cat lover. Located on the beautiful Newcastle Quayside, it offers a serene view of the River Tyne. The café is home to eight resident cats and also rescue cats from Friendz Feline. The cat keeper is welcoming and friendly, and the cats are delightful to interact with. The café offers a variety of food and drink options, including cakes and “pawninis”. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, making it a perfect spot to unwind and socialize with some delightful kitties. My favorite cat was definitely Pumpkin, beautiful kitty cat.

The cats are cute but I think it must be annoying for them being harassed all day. There isn’t anywhere they can go and hide to relax - people are always stroking them etc. I didn’t hear a single purr and most of the cats actively avoided interacting with people. The environment isn’t super clean either and the whole place looks very tired. Maybe we just went at a bad time, but I left feeling a bit sorry for the cats. The staff are friendly and hot chocolate was ok

It's a canny place to go for a cuppa and to unwind stroking and playing with the gorgeous kitties.

A special treat for and chosen by my 11 year old daughter. She described it as "a bit disappointing" I'd unfortunately agree. It's a few tables in a room with some cats, most of which look sick of people. Coffee was good, Orange juice was rotten had to get the bairn a fanta. The staff seemed nice. Smells of ammonia. Won't be back.

Cute place with loveable cats! Make sure to either place a reservation or visit in the early afternoon, as this place might be fully booked!

This is the best cafe ever for anyone who loves cats!

Staff were not particularly engaging during our time in the cafe. The space itself was dirty and not well maintained especially for housing upwards of 8 cats. In the areas we could see there were two water fountains for 8-10 cats and although there was plenty of purpose built cat shelving these were in poor condition and hanging off the wall. One large pet feeder full of dry cat food was placed in the room for the cats to free graze as they pleased. The food and drink served was of sub par and very basic standard. We were seated on a bench at two small tables which upon sitting down we realised has a large crack down the middle and this gave way under the weight. During our time there we interacted with all of the cats. It was in doing this we became aware that all cats had a large abundance of fleas. When the staff were informed of this they told us they knew about it and would be taking them all to a vet for treatment. However they continue to do business and serve food in an area with cats that are infested with fleas. All in all I was very disappointed as this was my birthday treat and it was a big let down!

There are cats here but the positives end there. Firstly we were let in 10 minutes late but made to leave on time so lost 10 minutes of our booking. Whilst we were eating we were brought our bill and rushed out of the door. We ordered two mozzarella, tomato and Basil toasties, a caramel shortcake and a brownie. The toasties has no basil in and not much of anything else in them. We saw one of the waitresses return with a Tesco bag after we had ordered and we were then served 5 small brownies and 5 small sheet cakes, despite seemingly ordering one large one. The waitress had run to Tesco, bought a box of 20 of each for £2.50 each, and sold us 5 for £3.00 and £2.50 respectively. Don’t eat here. If you want brownies go to Tesco and get 20 instead of 5 for the same price. Just buy a cat.

Great place will definitely visit again

Cute little place with some beautiful cats! My daughter is obsessed with cats so naturally we had to visit. The smallest cat cafe we've been to buy I felt that added to it's unique atmosphere. Also being smaller does mean less people at any one time (also a good thing) as some children can get a little excitable around the cats. Definitely book before hand as so many people got turned away while we were there.

Catpawcino had a lovely, relaxing atmosphere. The cats were happy and energetic. The cafe also has a great view of the River Tyne. The price of entry for the cafe was great, as well as the price for food/drinks. Staff were friendly.

What a tiny pokey little hovel ,looked very dirty and unkempt dust and cat hair everywhetr and sad looking bored cats didnt look very happy to me at all and have to take your shoes off,leave outside in great big heap , lots barefoot kids and people ,im not prepared to catch verucas or foot infections, or athelites foot fungas , you can use dirty looking slippers, rather not catch something from using these looked like they needed a good wash ,you cant stroke cats , smelled awful just from the door , pokey little " greasy spoon cafe " that didnt look very appealing in any shape or form ,ive visited cat cafes all over the world and this one has to be at the very bottom of the list .unwelcoming and unpleasant staff ,my advise is dont bother !

Not a big choice of food available especially for kids. Service good one girl friendly and chatty the other more reserved.

I went on a Saturday. The environment is very cozy and welcoming, and the earl grey tea was good. Employees were very welcoming and kind as well. Love the vibe, and love the cats 🙌🙌

Super cute cafe in the quayside with some gorgeous cats, the pot of tea I had was really nice and they had dairy alternative milks. The staff were friendly and explained everything politely, my only criticism is that it was incredibly dusty. I know there are a lot of cats so this is natural, but the walls and ceiling were coated in a thick layer of dust, webs and hair and It made me quite uncomfortable. It was like it hadn't been cleaned in months and it put me off ordering any food and I wouldn't go back as I have a dust allergy.

Really great cat café! Very cheap roughly 4-6£ for the entrance and the coffees are very cheap (2-3£) similar for the food toasties are very accessible! We paid 20£ for 2 people overall with coffees, food and entrance so very cheap for any cat café I've ever visited in the past!! The cats are so lovely and so is the staff I will come back again definitely will recommend you to stop by and say hi to the cats 🙂

Was late for our booking but they managed to get us in an hour later which was appreciated. Coffee was really and cats fun to be around. Clear they get taken care off :)

Even though me and my partner only left about 20 minutes ago we definitely want to go back!. Such a lovely wee cafe, staff are incredibly friendly and so polite. Food and drinks were so good and the cats were too adorable and well looked after!. If I could give this place 10/10 I definitely would. Highly recommended!!

When to this wonderful haven for cats ,the cats are very friendly, & playful a very clean cafe .the safe are very nice a friendly, the food is basically snacks like cooked sandwiches, cakes ,a other nick knacks ,well worth just £6 pound ❤❤❤

Not a good experience at all. Not welcoming, and a member of our group was upset after leaving the cafe because of circumstances which could’ve easily been avoided by the manager ( I’m guessing they were the manager ). Would much rather visit mog on the Tyne!!

Their website doesn't mention that you need to pre book. Drove there all the way from Middlesbrough with my kids for my birthday just to be told they're fully booked. Really disappointed .Will be going to the Scarborough cat cafe next time.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and it was a good family-friendly environment where the cats actually looked like they wanted to be there. It was an amazing experience, and I would 100% go again.

I wish there was an 'unable to rate' option because I didn't even get through the door. I had never been to a cat café before and decided to try it out as I was in the area. I did exactly as the signs in the doorway instructed; I took off my shoes, alcohol gelled my hands and waited to be let in. And waited. And waited. The café was not busy. Of the four people sat inside, a couple of women at one of the tables looked a bit sorry for me as I was just left standing there. There were no indications of a booking system or anything but nobody bothered to come and explain it, even if there was. So I put my shoes back on and went somewhere that does good coffee and actually appreciates my custom and my own mogs provided my cat fix when I got home.

Didn't have any food but I had a lovely hot chocolate. I was passing by for my hotel when I saw this place and always wanted to into one. I knew Liverpool did this but I didn't know about Newcastle. Will be visiting again. Lovely female staff and of course beautiful cats.

This is such a friendly place, with a warm atmosphere. The cats are of different breeds and beautifully kept and friendly. I had never met or petted a Sphinx cat, and now I'm in love!

You have to book a time slot to visit and you only get an hour. It’s a really friendly and worth it if you love cats . The coffee is great 👍. The cats are so friendly and adorable. You can see they are well cared for and looked after. Well worth a visit .

Lovely little set up, staff were lovely, booked an hour to have a nice drink and get to see all the cats who were all so canny with their different little personalities. Coffee and iced chocolate drinks were amazing too. Definitley be back again soon. Thank you!

The idea is great but out of the party of 4 is us not one of us saw signage stating it was £6 each just to enter. This would have been fine understanding it was a charity if the service was good but it wasn’t. It was 20 minutes until someone took our order and roughly 50/55 minutes in when one person was still eating they brought the bill over and tried to rush us out the door as more members of the public wanted to come in. Great idea, rubbish service.

I see most reviews very positive so maybe I'm just an old grump! But didn't find this experience the high thrill of a lifetime. The entrance fee is £6 per person : fair enough as cats need to be cared for. The cats are all beautiful and very well cared for, but they are clearly over it! They looked vexed and bored by turns (actually that is cats all over). Some didn't come out atall, and one spent all her time on a high shelf. The tables and chairs were rather rickety. The service was very slow. We were they last people in, but there are only 6 covers. My coffee when it finally came was REALLY NICE, but a small cup. I ordered a rocky road for my granddaughter for £3 but the portion was rather small. On the other hand she got a very large glass of milk (£2). The two young women running the place were very pleasant but very quiet. And you only get one hour in the cafe, then you must leave.

Cute and cosy atmosphere, a nice selection of sweets and snacks on the menu. The cats were adorable but barely interacted with us, but that was somewhat expected. It was also a bit more expensive than I thought, but I still had a nice time.

My husband took my daughter for her birthday pre-booked & paid. Unfortunately the wonderful experience was ruined being charged £18.10 for a cup of tea, an apple juice and two pieces of cake. Extremely expensive definitely not worth the prices charged. Wouldn't recommend unless you don't eat or drink for the hour!

If you love Cats this is a must visit! The cats are adorable (obviously) the staff are lovely and you can see they love the cats so much! The place has a nice chilled vibe and the foods pretty good too....but no one is there for the food were all just there for snuggles with the floofs!

I think £6 entry is extortionate. I know it goes towards the animal care but to pay nearly £10 for a cup of tea is ridiculous. Not a great choice of food. But it's lovely to see the cats 🐈

The concept of a cat cafe is awesome and this cafe fulfilled our expectations. The cats were lovely, child friendly and all rescue which is lovely - we would of adopted Alfie on the spot if we weren’t already full at home. The drinks were nice and overall prices were very reasonable. The staff engaged with us and gave us treats etc. The cafe music was chill as well as the general atmosphere along with the good location. Only missed out on one star because parts of the cafe felt a bit run down and the place was really dusty in parts, but not exactly dirty. I would work on investing to make the inside a bit more modern or sleek and clean the lamps and wall/roof etc. Thanks and it’s amazing you also help the cats.

Staff were lovely but very tired interior/furnishings & cleanliness not great. £6 per person plus the cost of drinks/food make this an expensive trip out. Some thought needs to go in to the whole experience if the charge is to remain this high.

The cats are beautiful, they look well cared for, glossy and healthy. This was our first visit to this cafe, we booked online and we're seated quickly. We were given a menu with lots of choice, but when we ordered we were told only shortbread was available. Which was disappointing, but we ordered it and it was nice. Staff were accomodating, but I wouldn't say friendly. Half of the cats seem happy for you to give then a stroke, others are abit more reserved, but it's lovely to watch them play explore and interact with each other. As a place to spend an hour in the company of cats this place is great.

The cats are so cute and the drinks were lovely and reasonably priced, however while we were there 3 children came in and totally freaked out all of the cats. Most of them fled upstairs leaving only 2 or 3. Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience. I just don't think it's the place for kids! P.s Mochi you are so cute 🤍🤍

Cool idea for sure, however, the cost of entry was too steep with no discount on entry if you actually purchase cafe food and drink.

Me and my daughter finally got to visit Catpawcino yesterday and we had a lovely relaxing hour there. A cute tabby cat greeted us at the window closely followed by a human who let us in. We sat near the window and waited for the cats to come to us while we enjoyed our tea and freshly baked cat paw biscuits. Some of the cats stayed away but seemed happy playing in the various boxes and pods around the cafe whilst others came for a stroke and cuddle. We were given cat treats to offer the cats which was a nice touch and let us get closer to more of the cats who came over for them. Overall a lovely experience, value for money and would definitely recommend to cat lovers.

Lovely staff and a great selection of cats to play with and give a little cuddle. Very reasonable in comparison to other cat cafes around. Yoh do have to pre book as it gets very busy.

It was such a treat to return here years after it had been a refuge for me on a difficult work trip to Newcastle in 2018. Simba (I think) jumped on my back literally within 30 seconds of walking through the door and all the cats were incredibly charming (in such adorably different ways) for the rest of my visit. The staff are really friendly and their love of the cats is palpable.

I'm normally a dog person, but could be converted to cats after visiting this place! They also serve fabulous coffee and cakes if you can year yourself away from the lovely cats who call this shop there home.

Visited this cafe for the first time last week, it was a great experience! Our beverages were tasty, and the member of staff was very polite. The cats were very affectionate towards her, so we could tell they're treated with care. We were given treats to feed cats, and they were all over us! The ragdoll and sphinx cats were the most affectionate, they would sit in our laps and ask for cuddles, they were so cute! Would recommend 100%.
