We just had a drink here. We had planned to eat here, but we thought that the hotel had such an oldfashioned style and atmosphere so we decided to leave after the drink. The hotel has such a great history and still looks great from the exterior, but nothing has been done in the bar area for decades, it seems.

Food was all locally soured and delicious. We travel a lot and this restaurant was exceptional. The view was second to none. Thoroughly recommend this to anyone. Excellent value for money too considering it locally sourced the food and the quality.

El Castillo Vista Bar es un bar con vista a la hermosa agua en el Falmouth Hotel. Quedarme en este bar por horas simplemente mirando el agua y viendo a la gente pasar frente al mar. El servicio era excelente cada vez que fuimos, el personal era cortés y educado. La comida era muy buena y las 3 comidas que comimos allí eran deliciosos y bien preparados, me encantó sus fichas. Recomiendo encarecidamente tener unas copas aquí y disfrutar de las vistas.

We couldn't get into the restaurant so had to eat in the bar. Not a very big choice and the food was only average. Waiter tried to take plates away before we had even finished our cheese and biscuits

I stopped her for a drink after a lovely walk. Staff helpful and location stunning, it was so nice I stayed for lunch. Small portion of Thai crab cakes (there were 5!) with side salad and I had an extra side of fries. It was served quickly and presented well. I asked for an umbrella and the waiter went off and returned with one and put it up, having to move the chairs, but this was no trouble. Excellent lunch super hospitality, I think I will stay for a coffee!

My husband and I decided to pop in and have a spot of lunch last week and boy did we wish we didn't. From the outside the hotel looks grand but that's where it ends. Interiors are dull and shabby and very out of date! We sat in the bar where a lovely lad from Liverpool (can't remember his name) came over to take our order, after waiting for what seemed like an eternity I finally went over to enquire where our food was, I mean how long does a burger and a pizza actually take? As I was queuing I over heard the bar staff discussing the chef that was on duty at that time and they had some not very nice things to say about him. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a snob by any means and the bar staff, when in front of you are nothing but professional but when they think nobody is listening, they really say what they think. I don't understand why a hotel which charges this much for accommodation and food (which isn't exactly on the cheaper side) doesn't have a good chef to back it up, which leads me onto the food, after waiting for a minute or so at the bar a waiter brought our food in from the kitchen. Brilliant, I thought, I went to sit down but straight away noticed that the presentation looked sloppy and uncared for, again I'm not normally very picky but we were already slightly miffed at the waiting time. Fine, we thought, Lets just eat and go. My husband took a bite of his burger and it was stone cold and RAW in the middle, I know burgers can be rare but this was literally raw meat!!! The chips were hard and overlooked and the coleslaw looked like it had already been regurgitated once already. My food didn't get any better. The pizza was hard and dry and way overcooked, bland, tasteless and not worth the money. By this time we had just had enough, paid our bill and left. Having read some reviews on here from others it seems the problem with this hotel is not with its staff who are lovely and friendly but with its food. For the prices they charge they should employ some proper chefs, I mean, who runs that kitchen and why is he/she ok with serving sub par food? McDonald's serves faster and quite frankly more edible food and I hate fast food with a passion! I don't think we will be returning to this place, it needs looking at quickly and these issues addressing because we aren't the only ones to have a bad experience with the food here. Our daughter and our grand kids are coming to visit us from Scotland in a couple of months and we are treating them to a two week stay in a hotel... But not this one. The day before we had cream tea at the Greenbank Hotel not too far from this one and that was much much nicer, we shall be taking our business elsewhere, that burger and pizza left more than a nasty taste in our mouths!
