Absolutely gorgeous views and, without a shadow of a doubt (I spend a lot of time in coffee shops and cafés), no the best scones and genuinely proper coffee (inc. Flat Whites) in Scotland. It was so good I went their twice. The staff were excellent.

What a lovely little place! Looks very unassuming from the roadside. We only stopped as we saw the castle on the water and pulled in to get some photographs, then saw the cafe and thought we would pop in for drinks, we ended up having breakfast.Nice open space with great views, small gift shop area and a great menu. Service was good and staff friendly. We had scrambled egg on toast, slightly expensive for what it was, but nice. A sausage barm, tea for two and it was around £14. It was really quiet when we went in, but minutes later it was full! Obviously a popular little venue. Nice little walk down to view the castle too. Worth a visit.

We are never disappointed by the warm and genuine welcome we receive at Castle Stalker View. The coffee is delicious and a good range of cakes are all home made and baked to perfection, the meringues are particularly fantastic. Covid measures are in place without being too intrusive, so it is still possible to have a relaxed break in this crazy world! There is also a lovely gift shop at the entrance to browse Scottish wares. What more could you ask for?

My favourite place in Oban & the surrounding areas for lunch and coffee. The girls always go above and beyond to provide the best service possible and can never do enough to help. The burgers are amazing, you can tell the quality of ingredients and effort that go in to making them - nice to get a burger that isn’t just a standard bought-in patty like the majority of places seem to serve.Such a beautiful setting, with lovely accommodating staff who are doing incredibly well at keeping customers feeling safe & comfortable in these tough times.

Arrived one minute past 3.30 pm to be told the oven has been turned off at 3.30 . We pointed out it was one minute past and they were opened till 4 pm. Still insisted they couldn’t offer us any warm food. They then proceeded to empty the food on display from the cabinet as they said it needed warming up. Thus making our choices less and less. The whole unfriendly manner we were met with made us decide to leave .Thankfully we received a delightful welcome further down the road and a delicious memorable meal with staff that were incredibly helpful.

I am seldom urged to write an immediate review but today’s breakfast/ brunch at the Castle Stalker View cafe caused me to make an exception. We are staying in the area and the cafe had been recommended to us. I am so glad that we decided to take up the recommendation. The food was fabulous and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We haven’t eaten out much since lockdown but the cafe felt COVID safe. The food was delicious, all home made! I don’t doubt that we will be back! The weather was unkind but even in poor weather the view was superb! A fabulous bite to eat in the area!

I visit Appin often for the GLORIOUS Lochlaich garden centre, who farms out some plants to the cafe too!, But today I went specifically to the gift shop on a special t-shirt hunt for an American friend whose trip has been postponed by the dreaded covid restrictions. I bought one there last month when I was on holiday returning from Inverary. I found a large selection of varieties sizes and colors, but was also pleasantly suprised at a lot of the higher end "twist" on Scottish souvenieers, many handmade items, loads of local artists prints and handmade clothing, with the usual gamut of clan "accessories". But what made my visit today extra special was the nice and helpful lady at the counter... she was more than helpful finding me a t-shirt for my friend, and was happy to share her travel experiences with me... I should have asked her name because she was LOVELY!

Were on holiday in Oban and decided to have a trip up to the cafe to view Castle Stalker and have a light lunch. Nice gift shop as well as nice food at reasonable prices. Social distancing was observed with staff wreaking face masks and hand sanitisers available so they seemed to operating within the rules. Certainly worth a visit to enjoy the view and Good to see there was an information panel about the castle. The only downside was that I was expecting to able to walk down the slope towards the path on the shore to get nearer the castle and was disappointed that it seemed to be overgrown and steep and was not really sure if there was actually a path or not past the viewpoint.

We had stopped at the cafe once before but only to take in the view. This time we were lucky enough that the sun was shining and there was a free table outside. The staff were friendly too and happy to have a chat. Definitely worth a stop if you're lucky enough to get a table.

This was our first family lunch in a venue since the easing of restrictions. Given this was the first dining experience out with our homes, we weren’t really sure what to expect from eating out, we just knew it would be substantially different from previously. An excellent vantage point for Castle Stalker, particularly on a clear day. Plenty of parking spaces and a footpath down the hill, although we were unable to get past due to various broken branches and fallen trees. The gift shop and art work are worth viewing. The food choice is great and whilst we only had coffee and a scone, the scone was freshly made. We did see the food being served to other customers and it looked amazing. Definitely worth a stop off.

Made a special trip from Onich as we’d read good reviews of the cafe and we wanted to take a look at the castle and surroundings. The cafe is in a fabulous location on the loch With great views of Castle stalker. I had a wander down the bank (is there an easier way?) and eventually got to the shore to take a few pics of the castle. Was also lucky to have great views of an Otter for about 20 minutes with lots of other interesting wildlife. Back to the cafe and myself and the wife had a cream tea. The scones were lovely, staff friendly and the general feel of the cafe was warm and cosy. The cafe is dog friendly and our Border Collie had a well deserved rest in the cafe. We always visit this cafe for a perfectly brewed coffee, and scone with jam and cream, as a mid morning treat when on our way to Oban. The service is invariably friendly and impeccable, and the scones consistently good. Today we pushed the boat out and had the breakfast stack! Delicious! You might think bacon, free range egg, sausage, black pudding, potato scone and special brown toasted bread would be run of the mill - but not a bit of it. Had to sit in the car park for 15 minutes as it did not open till 9.30. Didn't realise at first it was a beautiful place to stop as it was raining quite heavily but kept seeing people with cameras disappearing through the gate and then when we investigated, the views were amazing. The café was quite upmarket and a bit on the expensive side but was very nice indeed.

After seeing the sign stating #3 in the world" I thought I have to try. Chips were good...fish was fresh....size of portion very small for a adult's portion. I noticed after the gentleman cut the fish he pressed down on it with the palm of his hand...trying to make it serm larger before frying!!!!!...hmmmm

The actual garden centre was lovely! But when it came to the cafe, I have to say I was SHOCKED!! The young lady who greeted us was very rude and dismissive, it felt like we were an inconvenience to her! And as for the food, the chicken was drier than the desert and ruined my whole meal- the chips which were an added extra (£1) meant that I had 5 chips on my plate. Will NOT be back 🤬

I went for a late lunch while waiting for a bus and liked the place. Welcoming and friendly staff, nice menu, great location by the shore, reasonable prices. As I was not very hungry I only had the Scottish Breakfast (lots of meat) and it was good and tasty hence the 'average' evaluation.Should I ever be in Dunoon again I'll go back to try more.

Great little find. The food was beautiful and the atmosphere was homely. Friendly staff and dog friendly too. Lemon cheesecake and carrot cake were delicious. We will be back for sure. Thank you. Angela, Brian and Sasha the German Shepherd x

Vegetarian food was amazing. Chili, eggplant, fish, Mac & Trees, pasta, cocktails, creme brulee. Only the squash wasn't to everyone's taste. But overall a wonderful experience - which is high marks for foodies!
