Good food at reasonable price, friendly staff

WAITED 25MINS FOR A CHIP BARM. THESE GUY DONT HAVE A CLUE HOW TO RUN A CHIPPY. THEY TAKE ORDER AFTER ORDER AND GO THROUGH EACH ONE. ONE BY ONE. AWFUL! AND THE CHIPS WERE POO. OH AND THE PICTURE ON THE WALL ISNT STRAIGHT!!

Abysmal service waited over 20 mins for just a cone of chips, place was a mess, salt shaker was empty, cramped conditions felt like I was on a Japanese train. Food very average.

Ordered food for 14 people. Served quickly. No waste. Chicken kebab with salad was really nice. The seating area was spacious and clean, although we didn't eat in. Staff were friendly and polite.

Had a lovely breakfast, served by a very polite young man, perhaps need to advertise they do breakfast a bit more! Will definitely go back

Not the best place to go for something to eat, staff seemed like they didn't want to be there, chips were not the greatest, nuggets were disgusting, had to leave them, the fish to be fair was okay. Way overpriced.

food was average chippy food. The young lady was miserable, and i had the pleasure of wearing her germs by sneezing over me. toilet is out of use, but if you pay no problems 🤑

The best fish and chip shop in Wales. We have to come here everytime we are on holiday. The staff are lovely and everything is freshly cooked.

Nice cafe in the middle of Barmouth town. Friendly staff Plenty of seating for eating in...or if you choose you can take away... Usually come here for fish and chips when visiting... A wide menu to choose from.. and reasonably priced.. Fish chips and peas around £10... Good portion size and the food is fresh and tasty...

Chips were really nice but last twice awful, thrown them away today, won't use again

Average food, average hygiene, terribly slow service.

Just popped in today for a quick lunch as we were walking around Barmouth. I had a kebab so definitely wasn't expecting anything spectacular but it was the best kebab I have ever had. The meat was seasoned so well that I was amazed. If you are ever in the area I would definitely recommend. The staff are lovely and helpful and the food is lush.

Well, good food, good service helpful staff and very clean. As a child we visited Barmouth so many times and almost 40 years on I got the opportunity to take my family, so little has changed its As if time had stood still despite the obvious you would expect, "the cost of everything" £11.00 for a jacket spud £4.50 for an ice cream and £8.50 for a sandwich, it was crazy, One chip shop had que's all down the road, you would have thought it the best chippy in Barmouth, my youngest (6) wanted large battered sausage and chips, no we only do small sausage not battered (£1.80 really small portion of chips £3.00) so most of the time we cooked our own meals in our caravan but sometimes you're out and you have to grab something to keep the kids happy. The carousel cafe was by far the most reasonable place to go, good fast food plenty of seating, clean and by far the better portion sizes offered than anywhere else. Only negative I will add is that the breakfast prices are not reasonable but then nowhere in Barmouth is and I think they have just priced themselves in line with everyone else.

Please avoid, the oil tasted old the fish was not flakey ot was mushy and stunk, as soon as I cut into it I was overwhelmed by the smell, the chips tasted like they were old and stale, there was blood all over the toilet, looked like a murder scene and even the coffee was disgusting 🫣 go to another fish and chip shop, they could not be worse than this. We all left our food, the only decent thing was the can of pop.

Big wide open space. Plenty of seating/tables. Can order in or take out. Even do fresh cooked doughnuts and slushies! Reasonably priced, the fish was huge! Well cooked. Good portions. Clean and the staff are friendly. Would recommend this chip shop

I had an amazing experience with this Fish and Chips . The customer service was outstanding of this , and the product taste was exactly what I was looking for.

Can't fault the fish and chips, cooked to perfection and really tasty. Plenty of tables to eat in which was great as the weather was very wet.

Avoid at all cost found a false nail in the food which was admitted fell off one of the staffs hands. Refund for meal given but not good enough this should not have happened. Food wasn't great to begin with but this sealed the deal to bin it

Never again. Half way through meal to find a false finger nail mixed in with the chips. Staff weren’t too bothered about it offered to do a new portion but we refused as it knocked us sick. They refunded the meal once we asked. I would not recommend this place.

Very fresh food, best Dona I’ve tasted. However it was quite expensive and the atmosphere inside was dull. Staff were ok

£15 for 2 cod with mushy peas and 2 drinks. Very reasonable price for a quick lunch. Family friendly place and not far from the beach.

Great food but the service is a little bit slow and the general feel of the place is a little bit bland.

Strange place. Had an awful tea and coffee only so we could use the terrible toilets and owners whose entire life goal is to just monitor the washroom usage sitting on the sofa like entitled smugs lol

We've been here twice this week and have enjoyed the food. My friend had fish and chips with mushy peas on the 1st occasion and a Spicy chicken kebab wrap on the 2nd. I had salad in a toasted pitta and chips 1st then just a toasted pitta with salad on the 2nd. The food we had was really tasty and I have only dropped a star due to the lack of vegetarian options. From what I saw on the menu there were 3 options 1. Vegetarian burger 2. Salad in a toasted pitta 3. Cheese & onion pastie No halloumi which seems to be appearing in a lot of chip shops We also opted for the ice-cream which was Biscotti the other Oreo. Both were well enjoyed and £2.50 each

Nice large shop food was cooked fresh as not that busy. Waiting 15 minutes. They use palm oil I had scampi & chips tasted very nice £7.50 they don’t do Tartar Sauce though. And I asked if they did fish bites said no. But could have said they do a mini fish 🥴 as an option sales staff needs training on serving the customers needs. Would I go ho back if in the area again possibly

Have been coming here for years but this time is different, awful food awful service, food rubbery, girl serving clearly didnt want to be there. Definitely gone down hill, this is a real shame

A fish and chip shop that is reasonably priced. A good selection of kebabs and burgers cooked fresh by friendly staff. Nice food with a 5 star hygiene rating.

Ordered take away which was freshly made and absolutely delicious, great value as well. Venue was a little basic but guessing for how busy it can get it's built for purpose. Will definitely return in the future.

Nice place. Good food, big portions. Fish and Chips was one of best in my life. Price was as well good. We spend less than in some big fast food company. Specially food was make from fresh. Next time I will come again...

Easy eatery, standard chip shop fayre at proper prices. We arrived later in the evening expecting to be told takeaway only, to be pleasantly surprised to be able to be seated. Family of 6

Lovely staff in a nice location

Asked for cheese on toast for my daughter and received very mouldy bread. When I took it back they just said sorry and didn't offer a refund or replacement! My husband then asked for a replacement as my daughter was hungry and they said they had no bread left. No refund offered. This was in the summer season of 2022 (to avoid confusion) The place was filthy and we actually sat at a table that was cleared but not cleaned. Staff obviously couldn't manage and were not sufficiently trained. I'm a local so it's sad to see. I understand mistakes happen, and a sorry and refund would have sufficed. But as you can see by the reply, the staff/management have zero customer service. I'd recommend the milk bar cafe just down the road...small but great customer service.

Chips were really tough and seemed to have been fried twice. A bit manky tbh. No free condiments either, if you’re gonna charge £3.00 for chips at least give me a nice hard sqeezin of sauce yep

Very disappointing, fish was fine, but served in a box with a wooden fork . Expect this with a takeaway, but not when eating in.

Came here before last year, so came back again as we'd enjoyed the food. They didn't disappoint, food tasted lovely and was of good quality. Only annoyance was the toilets weren't available to use, which is a no-no for a restaurant in my eyes

Fantastic. August 2022 We walked along the front looking for chips for lunch. They were all so crowded, massive queues. So we walked a little bit away from the front and found this VERY clean spacious chip shop. Lots of space to eat In. The portions were too big for me, so I had to share them. The chips were the best I've tasted in a long time, even better than ones at home!!😋 My husband said his battered sausage was delicious. The prices were comparable with the other shops. £6.90 for 1 chips & 1 sausage and chips. While we ate them a Lady asked where they were from, she said they looked really nice, not like the one on front. We will definitely be buying from these again. Well done. ✔

As a seaside chippy it's fine,it's in a great location in the town. The food we had was well cooked not greasy at all. The seating area is so cramped you should remove a row of tables and chairs 150 full seats is better than 200 half empty and get your toilets fixed your raking it in

Although I thoroughly enjoyed my fish and chips from here..it was expensive. They charge you £1.30 for a small tub of gravy instead of just pouring it over. And trust me they are small pots so its not actually enough for your meal. They also charge 0.20p for each sauce sachet you request. It cost me £21.30 and that was for me and my 2 children. One of my children only had 6 chicken nuggets and not chips or a drink. I feel they should bring the food to you since it's a sit down cafe instead of just shouting orders out. Everything is very fast paced and feels rushed. The owners (who I assumed are the owners) were very friendly though, cleaning down tables and interacting with customers, they just need to watch they don't keep over charging as they will loose customers.

Awful, greasy fish & chips - so bad the gulls wouldn't eat them. Join the big queue just down the road & get something you can eat.

Very badly,burn mouth to me and my daughter...buy for my daughter vegetable Burger,and I eat hadock with chips,waiting for order 15 -20 min ,other People whait no more 10 min.when I get my order order nobody warning me about hot and on boxes any warning about that,after few hours my daughter ask me ,father how you feel, I said burn me mouth,my daughter said me this same....nice experience

Nice food but eat in to me means served on a plate with cutlery! Served in paper and only transferred to a tray when I asked about pouring gravy.

Extortionate prices as to be expected by the seaside Poor value portions on chips and kebabs. Had a mixed meat kebab for £8, would have been over priced at £4, Donner Meat was very greasy and tasted the same. Chicken meat was ok, it's just that there wasn't much of either in the kebab, I'd recommend buying the mixed meat portion on its own then buy the pitta separate, works out the same price for double the food. Sausages are actually alright, albeit expensive.

Worst, overpriced fish and chips I've ever had. Really greasy and the batter was soggy. Toilets had an out of order sign on but staff said they were fine to use. Maybe they just don't want customers to use them. They were grotty and the men's had no soap. £32 for a family of 4 and one meal was just chips and gravy. We went here to get out of the rain and because it had plenty of seating. Really wish we hadn't

Love Barmouth, been a few times. Passed through in our campervan yesterday (28th May) on route to our campsite for the night and thought we would grab some chips. We (me and Mrs) are fussy when it comes to chip shops and we know a good chippy when we find one and got to say this chippy was lovely 😋 best chips, scollops and Savaloy we have had for a long time. Can highly recommend 👍

Guy with glasses+beard was Sooooo miserable who served us, felt like we were an inconvenience for using the establishment. Food was ok, nothing special, will steer clear in future + take our custom elsewhere.

Fish Chips n Curry to take out £9-80 Loads of thick batter with a small piece of fish inside - walked down the road and saw a family eating what looked like a whale in comparison And then cash only - no card 🥴 The guy serving looked miserable ☹️ You got one star as the curry sauce was lovely

Food wasn't good. Long wait and the guy that served us barely answer me when I asked abou the chicken, which they didn't have. Fish and chips was extremely greasy and would stick to the paper wrapping. I really suggest you to go somewhere else.

I liked the fish and chips. I hadn't had it in over 15 years from a chippy, and I was glad I did! It's super basic, sea-side town catering, but it definitely hits the spot and brings back memories.

Chips were poor tasted nasty like they had already been cooked then just re heated, kebab meat was dry and the pasty was over microwaved only the middle was edible and it was overpriced too :( After saying we would like to eat in we sat down at a table which was opposite the counter, we waited 10mins for food to be cooked which is okay, however we were the only customers. He never spoke to say our food was done and had to ask if it was for us. He then forgot our kids drink too. Didnt bother saying anything to staff as when i ordered the guy behind the till was very distant with me spent more time on his phone not even a smile so id say it was bad experience all round.

The food wasn't as good as it was the last time we went. Although it was an eat in cafe they wouldn't let you use the toilet. Don't think I'll be rushing to go back

Nice set up for sit down cafe but food was disappointing. Chips pale and greasy, my kebab meat dry. Staff need to improve their customer relations, smiles and eye contact would be a good start. Don’t think we shall visit again.

Chips were nice but very slow service & orders were being done wrong.

The food was lovely, rather pricey though, I had the cod and it was very tasty. The queuing was confusing to say the least. It was very busy, which isn't there fault but people were standing around waiting for their order and customers coming in thought they were in the queue to be served. I told a few customers they were on the wrong queue but did see a few people give up and leave.

Great value and really good food

This place used to be the best chippy in Barmouth. But since its been taken over its gone down hill. I had fish n chips and my friend had pie and chips. The Fish was over cooked and hard in places. And the chips were by far the worst I've ever had. My friend said his pie was stone cold in the middle. We spoke to a couple of locals that we've become friends with over the years. And they said they never go there anymore. I genuinely can't believe some of reviews on here. I guess some people are easily pleased..

Waited over 2 hours for a donut only to be told the donut machine was broke. Nice one kids are crying now. Ruined our holiday.
