Lovely café. Nice staff and good food and drink

Food was good but I will struggle to go back because of the following reason: When we went to pay the card machine was requesting a tip and you as a customer couldn’t pay until you selected a tip amount. There was the option to decline the tip but the waitress staring at you would put anyone under pressure to leave a tip. I think this is an embarrassing approach that puts the customer under pressure (especially for some vulnerable categories like my wife - who couldn’t help but leaving a tip although she was not happy with the service). Service itself was not exceptional very normal - definitely not enough to justify a tip that we left because pressurised, if anything the food took long and we almost had to get up to go to order ourselves at the counter.

They slandered me for eating a cheeky meal deal

This is my favourite place to go for lunch. Been coming for a long time. Gutted they are closed over Christmas. Staff lovely, food amazing…..keep it up!

Mixed opinions on Carolina’s. I was meeting someone in the garden at the back and i asked a member of staff where this was located to receive a very unfriendly “just go up the alley at the side” from someone in the kitchen area. This wasn’t very helpful. I felt like the staff were too busy and I was ignored but they were friendly once I had their attention. The bacon in my sandwich is VERY fatty which was unpleasant to eat. The fresh salad that accompanied my sandwich was nice. So overall a mixed review

Wow, passing through Bookham and stumbled upon Carolina’s. I managed to get lucky and find the only free table, which was only fit for one person, perfect for me, as I was alone. I ordered their Club Sandwich on brown and is was truly delightful, mouthwatering and filling, the salad garnish was all it needed. I can’t of been the only person that enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere, helpful staff and good food as on this damp day those who couldn’t find a table inside were accepting to eat outside. Great find on my part and a must to re-visit. As the most famous word goes “I’ll be back”! 😁

We went early in the day for sausage sandwiches and they were fairly average, just sausages in supermarket sliced bread. There was a huge selection of cakes so if I went back I would have that. The tea was nice - made with tea leaves not teabags so it had a lovely flavour

Not really a review of the establishment, but of the staff. Could't be nicer. This early morning i went out for a dog walk to Bookham Commons, and on the way back i felt out of breath and like I could not make it back home. A lady was sweeping the pavement outside Carolinas and i asked her of I could use her phone to get my husband to pick me up. She did let me without any fuss. I'd like to thank her for being a human, nothing more nothing less.

This is a Great little cafe but likely to be busy so get there early. We enjoyed our breakfast there.

Food not as good as it used to be. Owner and staff are always a bit cold and sometimes quite rude. I was there with a friend and were asked to leave as they wanted our table. Our bill that time came to £36. Or they make you move. It leaves you feeling you are a nuisance to them. Now they have this notice up outside which we found very amusing as it sums it up really !!

Stopped off after a walk nearby. Really tasty food and we left with a rake away cake. We will be back!

Visited for breakfast while waiting for my bike. First attempt was way too busy to fit me in but came back later and was lovely staff with great food and portions and reasonable prices. Nice place!

Caroline's is a pearl hiding quietly in Great Bookham. If you are anywhere near or passing by drop in for a coffee, a break or a meal You won't be disappointed... we weren't!

Lovely little cafe that serves a delicious array of cakes, light lunches as well as a selection of teas and coffees. They have takeaway or eat in facilities. Tucked behind the cafe is their little hideaway garden. Great team and always friendly.

I literally live less than 5mins walk from here but never visited before. What a lovely place to visit, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the standard of the food and drink on offer is excellent and it's reasonably priced too. The garden at the back is cosy and well shaded with comfortable seating. Inside looks as inviting but on my visit we sat outside. I'll be going there again for sure it's a hidden little gem in Bookham village.

A pleasant café in Bookham selling lunches such as panini as well as various cakes and pastries. Service was quite slow when I was there (for nearly an hour); they have a small kitchen. I thought it was quite expensive, but that may be because it is an affluent area.

This is a pleasant environment with helpful staff. It could’ve been a bit warmer but I guess that’s down to having to leave doors open because of Covid. My Caesar salad with Cajun chicken was tiny, literally a handful of iceberg lettuce albeit in a good dressing, no anchovies or croutons to be seen, the chicken was okay but at £10.95 there should have been more of the ingredients of a Caesar salad on the plate.

Welcoming & cosy Cafe, tastefully decorated with delicious food made with fresh ingredients and care from kind staff. We had breakfast & loved the granola yogurt with an array of colourful fresh fruit + incredible blueberry pancakes!

The team at Carolina's couldn't be more friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. There is a very rude review on here saying otherwise and it just isn't true. Carolina's is one of the best places in the area to stop for a meal and a drink and the team is friendly and lovely. The chef is not rude and the owner certainly is not snobby! I retaliate unprompted and as a citizen of Bookham who is proud of having such lovely places to visit. We must support our local businesses, not bully them! Please do visit them, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely venue to get drinks and lunch, stopped for drinks can recommend coconut milkshake. Venue has wheelchair accessible entrance with outside seating.

I can not thank the team at Carolina's enough for the perfect order for 25 people. On time and packaged up beautifully but most of all delicious. Everyone in the group sends their thanks.

Got some cakes to takeaway and they were delicious and reasonably priced too. Will be returning to their meals, gelato and coffee very soon!

A friend and I met for a light lunch today, we were lucky to have chosen a beautiful, sunny day, so we sat in the very peaceful garden at the back of the cafe ( I felt like I was on holiday somewhere really lovely!). I chose the tuna sandwich on brown bread, which came with a perfect crispy side salad and a pot of dressing. I can honestly say it was the best tuna sandwich I’ve ever had! I made it last as long as I could! Simple but perfect. A lovely couple of hours were spent and I will definitely be back for another sandwich soon!

We can’t recommend this cafe enough - quality food, tasty and utterly delicious. Absolutely divine wraps and salads plus the cakes - they are the best. Served with care and professionalism. One of the best cafes around.

Relaxing hideaway, great for coffee, a guilty/guilt-free breakfast, cakes and more. The team always happy, look after everyone and keep smiling, however busy the place gets.

Carolina's is a wonderful cafe. Every time we visit we are greeted with a really warm welcome and the food and coffee are excellent. I visited today Carolina’s yesterday. As always, a lovely visit and delicious food, I particularly enjoyed the roasted vegetable panini and coffee cake. I would like to point out that I witnessed the lady and her friend from the previous review. I’m really sorry to say that I thought they were unnecessarily rude to the staff, who I have always found to be extremely polite and helpful. It seems such a shame that they felt the need to give this amazing cafe one star.

Lovely food but unfriendly atmosphere. No one smiles and if anything offhand and rude. What a shame. Asked to move on after sitting for lunch for 2 hours when not even that busy!

A proper coffee shop, really great food and lovely coffee & cakes. Love the lunches, superbly cooked.

Light lunch including excellent coffee - parking at the Co-op is recommended as on-street is limited to one hour (if you are lucky enough to find a space) - and it's good to linger a little over the hour. Very popular, so booking is advisable!

This little gem is a great place to meet for coffee and a bite to eat..... cosy, warm and freshly made food is a winner. Great for breakfast, try the avocado topped with an egg on toast, even my grandchildren were impressed...... when it’s warm there is a small patio garden at the rear of the coffee shop to relax and enjoy a coffee and chat, perhaps try a slice of the delicious cakes on offer.

Popped in for lunch but was too late as kitchen was closed. Ordered lemon and raspberry gluten free cake was a bit dubious as always struggle with texture in gluten free cakes. It was absolutely amazing flavour, lightest sponge and delicious...will be back soon to try lunch options as the food I saw looked really good but will def save space for another slice of amazing lemon and raspberry gluten free cake!

I have never been a regular coffee drinker but stopped in to grab a takeaway latte a while ago. I have been back almost every day since! I cannot comment on the food having never eaten there but I can tell you they do a mighty fine coffee.

By far the best cafe for food in Bookham. Their prices are a tad on the expensive side but are good value for the food they produce. Their coronation chicken wrap is to die for, full of flavour and enough to satisfy the heartiest of appetites.Thoroughly recommend this place for a lunchtime session!

This place has had different names and management over the years but finally since becoming CAROLINA’S it’s regained local business and loyal customers.

We have visited this cafe many times in the past ten years for their excellent coffee ,cakes and almond scones.

I love this cafe! The food is always fresh and tasty. Drinks are also brilliant quality. Highly recommend this place. You might wish to book as it gets very busy.

I’ve been to Carolina’s tonnes of times. It can get really busy which is a testament to how good it is. The food is excellent! Coupled with a lovely family running it, great combination.

Food is such high quality and really delicious. Unlike so many cafe and restaurants the panini are crisp on the outside, full of tasty chicken etc and piping hot all the way through. Worth booking in advance.

This little cafe offers the best sandwiches, wraps and paninis. The quality of the food and produce is amazing. They have homemade cakes and scones which I would definitely recommend.

We live in the lovely village of Shere and have a fantastic coffee shop 30yrds from our door step BUT we decide to drive 20 mins to Carolina's because we love it there

This is the best place to head to in Bookham if you’re looking for a light lunch, tea & cake or even a full English breakfast!!! I come here regularly for lunch with my family, the restaurant is small so we always ring to book a table (as it gets busy).

We called in for some coffees on a bleak wet afternoon and found a warm cozy oasis. Service was both professional and friendly. The coffees were large, hot and delicious. The seating was very comfortable. A real find in Great Bookham.

I was out walking and decided to a coffee in Carolina’s fabulous service nice staff and lovely latte and clean I will be going back for sure...best in Bookham by far...

I popped into Carolina’s today for a quick brunch with a friend, we both ordered avocado on toast with poached egg. It was perfect! Probably the nicest brunch that I have had in a long time. Perfect avocado, egg and was beautifully presented. Very reasonably priced too.

Love coming to Carolina’s!!! Everything from the food and drink, right through to the hospitality and cushions on the sofa! Their milkshakes are definitely a highlight for me, they take me back to childhood!

Saturday lunch - my daughter had chicken wrap, I tried the crushed avocado on toast. My meal arrived but instead of toast it was a piece of warm bread. When I asked about the lack of toast- I was met with the sarcastic remark - “did you want your bread burned?” No I just wanted toast, not bread as per the menu. Disappointing and expensive.

I met a friend from way-back here, on the recommendation of locals. The indoor seating area is quite small but we stayed inside as it was so hot outside. Service was cheerful & efficient & we relished the chance to catch up in the cool & peaceful surroundings. Good value from the pots of tea

This very busy cafe has great service, lovely coffee and tasty food, well priced. There is a little courtyard at the back which is lovely to get together with friends.

First time we have visited but have heard a lot about Carolina’s. We sat in the garden as we had our dog with us.

My wife and I visited after a couple of months absence, and were thrilled with the warm welcome, smart decor and good menu. We had chosen in advance to have the famous quiche, and were not dissaponted. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that we don’t live close enough to be regular visitors, otherwise we might not cook at home

This morning I had breakfast at Carolina’s with my 7 month old.

I booked a table for a first time breakfast this morning at Carolina's, (my call was answered promptly and politely). Arrived and queued for 5 mins at the counter, to be given menus and then pointed to 'our' table which was littered with sticky remnants, presumably from the last customers. We asked for the table to be wiped clean which they did. We waited for another 5 minutes and returned to the counter to ask if it was indeed waitress service. A few minutes later our order was taken. So 45 minutes until our breakfast arrived, which is more than a tad too long in my book. The breakfast was perfectly fine and so is the ambiance (although quite noisy due to the coffee grinder and blender being front of house), which is a real shame because we won't be returning due to the exchange that followed....... We were asked how everything was to which we replied the food was good thank you but the wait was not...45 minutes. The curt reply: "Well there's not much we can do about that???" It turns out it was Carolina herself who offered this remark. What can you say.

Had a wonderful lunch today with a good friend. The service was excellent, coffee hot and a really good lunch. Highly recommend if visiting Bookham. Nice interior and very clean.

Just had my first experience of Carolina's Coffee Shop and my only question is "when can I go back?". The coffee shop is nicely done up and has a really good feel and atmosphere. Not too many tables inside so you might be out of luck but it is definitely worth trying. The coffee was very good and the cakes looked amazing. No room for them this time but next time for sure! I had a really good toasted Panini which came with a lovely fresh salad. Lots of other good looking things to eat on the menu. Definitely a good place for a quick lunch or just a relaxed coffee.

This cosy local coffee shop is has a lovely feel. I don't know what you'd call the style of interior design (shabby chic without the shabby? :-) ), but it feels like everything's been chosen to work harmoniously. The coffee (I had a macchiato to be hip) is excellent, and the chocolate banana bread was to die for. Free wifi too.

I'm a regular of Carolina's, and it's simply the best coffee shop in Bookham. The food is excellent, the staff are very friendly, and their coffee is outstanding. They serve a wide range of food, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc. Very good value for money and always fantastic service.

My family and I visited this cafe twice. It's location is perfect in case you take an early morning or evening long walk or bike ride. They offer a good breakfast but a table reservation has to be made because the cafe is quite small.

Will definitely be returning for another lunch. I had the quiche with salad and it was absolutely delicious. Coffee was also good and the cakes looked great but I resisted. Maybe next time......

Took my son who was visiting from New York, he had a flat white coffee, he said it was very good, he's used to the artisan coffee shops on every street New York so it must have been very good indeed!. I had a tea, it was large loose leaf tea and the best I've had in some time. my little granddaughter had the kids cheese sandwich, it was made of proper bread and was garnished with grapes, she had a milk shake to drink and that was so delicious. Can only think all the other things on the menu would be as good, we shall return!.

This was my first visit here and I was pleasantly surprised. The place was fairly quiet at 12.30pm but filled up quickly around 1.00pm. The food was excellent - I had a very enjoyable Cajun Chicken Salad with mango and avocado. The cappuccino was the best I have tasted for years....it actually tasted of coffee and not milky bubbles! The service was friendly and efficient. I will certainly go there again.

I visit our beautiful Carolina's most days. And was saddened and surprised at a previous review left by another customer. I would like to say that being a vegetarian for 30 years' I am extremely lucky to have such an amazing variety of 6 or more delicious vegan and vegetarian options. And also home made vegan cakes. Am normally lucky to get one decent option in other cafes and restaurants. So as a vegetarian I am truly spoilt here. Especially as this is not a vegetarian or vegan cafe. And Everything I have eaten has always been superbly delicious.

Popped in here for a light lunch having admittedly got lost trying to find another place but we were very pleased that we did. It had such a lovely warm, relaxed, friendly feel from the moment we entered. We both ordered coffee's which were excellent and presented beautifully.

Went for lunch with family, admittedly it wasn't our first choice but that said it was disappointing. It was probably above average for a cafe but it was basically run of the mill. Not somewhere I would choose to revisit. Only 2 savoury vegan options (salad or soup) and zero vegan pud/cake. Above average prices, I had sweet potato soup which was at least piping hot, with dry sourdough toast (no veg marge) and kale smoothy. Others had baked potato cheese and beans they said was rather undercooked. Service was adequate. All in all, not recommended.
