Carluccio's - Derby in Derby

The most overrated place in Derby. The food was mediocre at best. What it lacked in flavour it also lacked in any structural integrity - a bland mush. The guy serving us was pleasant enough but indifferently plonked the food down in front of us before scarpering away. I suspect he knew that what he served was woefully inadequate. I gave atmosphere a 1* because there was none. My partner and I, and one other table of glum looking customers, mostly ate in quiet disappointment. Definitely not worth visiting.

Looking for a cute , classy brunch spot , then this is your chance to try Carluccios. Everything was so good, food, drinks and atmosphere, staff and all.its a 10/10. Had calamari for starters and confi duck and had a wine. Great food, great price and a good shopping view

Pasta was really tasty but i have to say portion size was really small, it's a shame because that makes the food really overpriced for the quantity you get. Focaccia was not the best, it felt like it was a few days old. This didn't used to be like that before so clearly a downgrade in their new management style and cutting corners which is really disappointing considering it was such a great place previously.

Food was exceptional as always! Was served by Jack! What a guy!!!!! He deserves a pay rise was soo friendly and helpful.

Best English breakfast in town , me and my partner loved everything on the plate! We also had some pancakes that was pretty tasty ! Highly recommended

I ordered what on the picture looked like juicy pasta with plenty of meat and tomato, what arrived is cooked pasta covered in some oil with two tiny chunks of meat and an olive. If I'm paying 15£ for pasta I would obviously expect some meat and sauce in there, this is a joke

Went to Carluccio’s today with my family for my sister’s birthday meal and absolutely enjoyed the food! Everyone left happy with full stomachs. The only minor thing I have to say is that the highchairs there were quite dirty. I spent the first 5-10 minutes cleaning one for my daughter to sit in.

the food was mediocre, to be polite. my friend ordered the chicken milanese, which came with no dressing and had more breading than chicken. the flavour was subpar across the board, with the lasagna severely underseasoned. the servers were not as attentive as compared to other 4-star restaurants. the starters were quite good though!

Had been for dinner with family with one of us being gluten free, the food was bit of a hit and miss. The gluten free main course was a pasta dish chosen from the set menu , the pasta was a bit undercooked and didn't really gel with the sauce in which it was cooked. I had the chicken milanese which was essentially a breaded slice of chicken with tomatoes on the side and bowl of salad with cheese , the chicken was too crispy and dry, didn't really enjoy it and wouldn't recommend . The dishes which I liked were the mushroom soup which was really good and the tiramisu dessert. We went on a Tuesday so essentially the restaurant was deserted being mid week , probably would have had a better vibe on the weekend.

Great place food is always quality and the staff are helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. The real problem i have with this place is that the set menu doesn't change that often. I would probably eat here more frequently if it did as the food is good.

Amazing italian food, excellent quality, tasty, fresh and good sized portions. Came in for dinner before Christmas and was a very welcoming, pleasant and homely atmosphere. Our table was attended to by the server Charlie, who was wonderful, friendly and made us feel very welcome. He was attentive to all of our needs and dietary requirements, as well as patiently taking the time to go through the menu and gave us some recommendations (which tasted wonderful). Lots of delicious sounding dishes on the menu, so felt spoilt for choice! (But means will have to come back to try them :) ) The service was 10/10 thanks to Charlie, alongside the the welcoming atmosphere and made our experience of dining at Carluccios Derby a lovely evening. We will definitely be coming again :)

First time visiting, we had a full english breakfast and an eggs benedict that were incredible. Service outstanding - Charlie was great and looked after us really well. Will be back in January for 50% of mains! Thank you

Very poor chain restaurant where we were given food with no relation to the menu and an aggressive response when we complained !!

Came for early dinner. Moktails a little lackluster. Filled with ice and flavourless. They did modify to our taste. The food was good, didn't like the lukewarm fries and burger but they rectified that quickly. Quite expensive and portions for men are a little small as my sons were not totally satisfied. The ladies in our group were full. Staff were helpful and friendly and atmosphere good. I would come back.

Had the Christmas menu which we really enjoyed. It was very tasty and good value for money. Service was perfect, the staff were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable about the ingredients and menu and accommodated my fussy requests and questions. Lovely restaurant and atmosphere.

1 Star marked down due to the fact I had 2 hefty bits of very fatty and gristly prices of meat in my sauce. Also due to the size of the portion. Everything else was exceptional. Especially the starters. My issue is though the mains were barely any larger than the starters, which makes for less value... How much does a handful of extra pasta cost you? Cmon. We spent just over £100 for two people having two courses, myself had one soft drink and a water and my partner has 2 alcoholic drinks. ... Oh and my homemade lemonade wasn't even a full glass (that was a joke I think for the price of some lemon juice and soda water). This was more than we anticipated on paying but considering the likes of Zizzi and the food you get from there this was miles better. I would say though, compared to somewhere like Wagamama the price and flavour isn't as good. I would go again, but I'd likely have just the prawn starter as it was excellent 👌

I like Carluccio's. The staff are always great. The menu can get a bit off, at time, but the current menu seems spot on.

Great Italian place with good service. Not the first time here. The Cream of Celeriac Soup was truly delicious, as were the Mushroom and Truffle Arancini from the Christmas Menu. The Saltimbocca Vin Santo and Mushroom dish was a bit too salty, and the Lobster & Crab Black Tortelloni was slightly spicy. In conclusion, the food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. You can't go wrong by choosing Italian cuisine.

Amazing Elliot! We were served by him today and there was a bit of a mix up with our order. He was brilliant, explained and I loved his honesty! He is an excellent representative for your business. It was our first time and our food was absolutely beautiful!

My wife & I got there for lunch at around 14:30Hrs. We were received warmly, by the host Diana who was also our waitress. We asked Diana what she would recommend & she gladly took us through the Menu patiently. I settled for Risotto di Mare, & Bottega Prosecco, while my wife had Chicken Saltibocca, & Bottega Ross Prosecoco. Green beans spinach was included as well. The food was soooooo delicious 😋 that we felt embarrassed when the table was being cleared since nothing was left for throw. The service is exquisite 👌 ✨️ 10/10. The ambience was Homely - The Food was soooo Fingerlicking - Ohhh & we also had Limoncello Tart for desert& it was WOW 👌 👏 😍!!!. Honestly we felt so so much appreciated dining there. The food & drinks recommendation by Diana was so so WONDERFUL 😀😃. We also asked to speak to the manager & pass our appreciation, though she was busy having her lunch she did acknowledge and we left. OVERALL : We truly were extremely HAPPY - SATISFIED AND 101% sure to return again 😁.

It's always a good way to start the day 😌, can't beet it.

Great place to pop in when your round town or date night

Great food that never failed to deliver, the staff were handy, and you were never waiting long. The atmosphere was very relaxed and not too noisy so you could easily forget that you're in a shopping centre.

Went here for a group supper. It was a little tricky to find using Google maps as it is located on the second floor of a shopping mall. Having said that, I asked a couple of folks for directions when I was very close and that helped. I had mushroom soup and pappardelli. The food was spectacular. One of the best bowls of soup I've ever had in my life. I ordered it as a starter, but it could almost have been the meal. The pasta was equally impressive. It was perfectly cooked and properly seasoned. It was quite busy and a little loud. It might not be a great place for someone who is hard of hearing. The server was attentive and polite. Our food arrived in a timely manner and the whole group (about 16 of us) seemed pleased with their meals.

We had vegetarian food. I like it that all their food is cooked in olive oil, or so said the waiter. However, service is rather awful and the staff almost seemed unhappy we were there. We were there 5 months back and didn't go since because of the service. And the food was served cold.

Always get a good meal. Sun to thur I use my tase card and get 25% off the bill.

Relaxed lunch, exactly as it should be!

One of the best places for coffee which is reasonably priced at £3.20 in a restaurant, and is always excellent quality and taste. Did not eat but menu looked simple and good value. Staff and ambience very good

My self, my husband and 4 children visited your derby branch. The children’s menu was quite limited, the starter was veggies and bread sticks, unfortunately no dip or hummus of any kind, so a little dry. The children’s lasagne was quite “wet” but at least had flavour, I wouldn’t have complained about that. The cheese pasta on the other hand was infact just that - Spaghetti with cheese thrown in, not a sauce not creamy and when the spaghetti started to cool the cheese coagulated around the pasta, and something I feel a uni student would turn their nose up to. The burger was quite unthought out, an overdone burger with a bowl of chips. The patty took Charcoal grill to a whole new meaning. The carbonara, was a luke warm, tasteless bowl of spaghetti, no seasoning, sauce or flavour! The arancini were very nice although more of a mozzarella ball than a rice ball I feel as though something was a little off today perhaps the chef was missing. I would be reluctant to return as this wasn’t authentic Italian food, tasteless/overdone/under seasoned to name a few, all qualities you don’t want to experience when travelling with 4 small hungry children and a hangry husband. We were table checked and my husband asked me not to say anything as we were eating and running he didn’t want to wait for a replacement. The staff were lovely our waiter knew from our plates something so wrong but didn’t approach the subject We did eat the meal, not uneditable just lacking flavour. Hugely!

Very expensive £5 for 5 sprigs of broccoli 16.50 for chicken breast a few small roast potatoes on rocket although very tasty. Be aware all veg cosy extra. Don't think it's value for money.

First visit to Carluccio's. The food was excellent, very fresh, tasty, and portion sizes we just right. The staff were friendly and attentive. If you love Italian food, this is the place to try in Derby.

We booked for lunch as we’ve had several great experiences at Carluccios in Stratford before so we travelled from Loughborough for the day and it was so, so poor! Awful service from the moment we arrived. We were sat at a table in the corner and asked what we wanted to drink to which my wife replied “could we have a menu?” He seemed bewildered that we didn’t know the food and drink menus off by heart and then came back with the menus, I had to go and ask someone else for a children’s menu for our 4 and 1 year old, we ordered 2 starters with sides and 2 kids pasta meals to be all together (nothing too elaborate, we thought!) My wife’s tomato bruschetta and my soup arrived (clearly microwaved in a bowl with as much soup on the outside of the bowl than in, no sides or kids meals… a lady came over 5 minutes later after I’d shared my bread with our kids to ask “are you missing some meals?” Sherlock Holmes, be warned! When I told her what we were missing, our server emerged from the kitchen with another soup and tomato bruschetta, walked over to the table, gave a scornful look and turned back to the kitchen, still no sides or kids food. After 15 minutes of being sat with a now-lukewarm bowl of soup the lady returned with a well-rehearsed explanation that “another table ordered the same starters as you and you had theirs which is why the rest of your order hasn’t been sent out, it won’t be long.” By this time I’d calculated I could have walked round to M&S, bought some pasta, pesto sauce and the ingredients for a cheese sauce and prepared my sons’ lunches myself and they’d have eaten it all in the time it took. The final nail came when my 4-year-old said “Daddy, why is my pesto pasta not here?” after 25 minutes of picking at my focaccia. I got up, took my youngest out of the high chair and loaded him into his pram, told my oldest we would find somewhere else to get some lunch just as the lady said “they’re nearly ready now.” Poor Antonio must be turning up there!

Always excellent food and service

Be warned, check the menu before you order. A glass of Sauvignon blanc £12.75. Ridiculous. Food and service average but didn’t feel worth the £56 bill for 2 mains and 2 glasses of wine - you’re only sitting in a shopping centre.

What a find!! Absolutely love this restaurant in a sea of chaos in the food hall we found peace and quiet where you could talk, eat and drink. The staff could not have done, more a credit to the Carluccio name.

Went in for a meal with 2 friends last night. Really attentive friendly service, delicious food, good range of choices and they also settled the bill super fast when we realised we needed to leave very swiftly for the theatre. Thanks for a great experience 🙂

Brilliant tasty meal, food was cooked to perfection by the ruggedly handsome chef izaak and the tall imposing waiter Tom brought it over with a fantastic balance of pizazz and sophistication. Will be returning regularly in the future 😈

Absolutely delicious food from the Valentines special menu, really tasty sirloin steak and chicken saltimbocca followed by sumptuous panna cotta, I would thoroughly recommend.

Sadly this was a bad experience, the food was terrible last night and the whole group of eight were so cold it was uncomfortable. I know this place can do better but the last 2 times I've been here I've left my food. Not sure if I will return. Also after speaking to the table next to us I doubt they will return. Nobody took their jackets of to eat.

Not the best place in the world. Asked for a bottle of water- they hadn’t got any - no offer of tap water. Wouldn’t mind but there’s enough shops in Derbyion to get some in. Food was over priced for what you get. Won’t be coming back.

My wife mixed the Christmas specials with the main menu, I ordered three courses from the quite short Christmas menu. Everything was excellent we both had three courses and would order them again any time. As an example I had crab and lobster as my main. It was delightful!😊 We arrived without a booking and despite being fully booked with Christmas parties a table was found for us. The service and the staff were also excellent. We will be back very soon!

Excellent service, enjoyed my Carbonara made the traditional Italian way, served promptly and with a smile, would dine here again.

Food was great, service was excellent can't fault anything there. The location let's it down a bit especially if you sit by the window. Other shoppers can just stop and stare at your food which is a bit weird.

Decided to treat myself to lunch for one. Had the seasonal menu, starter and main. Have to say both were just divine. As usual at the Derby Carluccios service was excellent. Quality is always good.

Very impressed with the experience here last night. Booked in a table for two based on reviews over on TripAdvisor. We arrived on time and were greeted promptly and friendly and seated quickly. The waiter was cheerful and relaxed. I always think that's a good sign. All too often you see waiters who are a little too over bearing and it all seems a bit staged but this guy seemed very comfortable and his relaxed demeanor relaxed us. Well done. We ordered a couple starters, see pictures. Very tasty and fresh. The other thing we noticed at this point was the music and lighting. Specifically that there was no music and the place was well lit. This was a seriously refreshing change. I've been in restaurants before where you have to shout across a single table to be heard and it's dark like a night club. This restaurant was a breath of fresh air with nice, clear lighting and all you could hear was the bustle of people enjoying themselves. How every restaurant should be. The mains were delicious. I ordered the lasagne, lovely. No grease, no oil just lovely well made food. Absolutely top drawer. Great experience.

Perfect service, presentation, nice selection of food but my Pappardelle beef ragu was blend. I don't know why 😏 I had to put more salt and pepper in it. Mocha wasn't strong but had a good taste 👍 therefore have rated my visit 4 out of 5 but after this purchase we got 20% off of our next visit bust must come back in 14 days ✌️😌 cannot wait to come back again 😇☕🍝

Expensive but worth the money 💰

Visited on a Friday evening with a group of 8. Services was attentive and quick, and food was good quality. I managed to ring the restaurant to book rather than booking online, and this was much easier to manage with the group size we had.

Great restaurant. We had the two courses at lunch and it was delicious. Reasonably priced, great friendly team supported by fine food.

Visited early afternoon as part of my birthday celebrations. The restaurant was clean,the wait staff were all friendly and attentative. The only reason I've taken a star off is all food was delicious apart from my beef ragù which was completely lacking any seasoning so tasted quite bland.

I’ve been to Carluccios twice now. Second time today and I absolutely love it! ❤️ Ample parking in the Derby Shopping Centre. (Derbion, Intu, Westfield however you know it). Parking is just £2.50. Great location on the second floor near the food court. Very reasonably priced and good size portions too. The service was brilliant and friendly, just perfect! 👌🏽 One of my favourite things though is Carluccios are one of very few places that stock Frangilico. A Beautiful nutty liqueur enjoyed with Diet Coke. A definite must. Highly recommend, whether your meeting friends, out with the family or even a date night. ❤️🫶🏽 Great to see a familiar face in their too. Thanks Tom 👍🏽.
