Carlucci in Fife

Found this great Italian whilst searching for somewhere suitably coeliac friendly for lunch when visiting friends in Dunfermline for the day. The website assured us they offered gluten free pasta and pizza bases and we weren’t disappointed. Very nice and helpful staff and delicious food all of which went down very well. The gluten free we had was very good and they did not rush us. Puddings went down well although you’re limited to ice cream and one other if you’re GF, but my daughter’s ice cream sundae was huge and delicious! Would just suggest offering a gluten free garlic bread. A lot of Italian places use the gluten free pizza bases with garlic butter. Always goes down well with us.

Originally intended to have a full meal however this didn't go to plan. Service was a bit slow to start with but it was fairly busy and the waiting staff were polite and apologised for the initial delay so we were okay with this. Starters came out fine and we enjoyed the food however around 45 minutes passed and no one had been near us so we had to ask about our mains which were not ready yet. Unfortunately we had plans so needed to leave before we got the mains so paid up for what we had. Overall, we were in the restaurant for well over an hour and a half so really disappointed. The waitress was clearly embarrassed however we made it clear to her there was nothing wrong with her service but clearly an issue in the kitchen. It would have been great if this was communicated to us however it seemed they were prioritising food for delivery as we saw loads coming out the kitchen to get delivered while service all around us was clearly very slow. It might have been appropriate to pause online orders so they could catch up with serving people in the restaurant however there didn't seem to be anyone managing things. It's somewhere we'd hoped to visit again however I don't think I'd want to risk it.

Lovely food and service. I had a problem in my flat with no power, I needed to charge my phone a little. They were super nice to me and helped me in my situation. Very good attention from the staff. In other hand I ordered Tortelli allá Zucca that was spectacular, the pasta was perfect cooked and the sauce was delicious. I decided to have dessert and ended the night with a Red Velvet cheesecake that was very good presenter. It is a very recommended restaurant with good prices, good food and an amazing staff.

Couldn’t decide where to eat in Dunfermline so plumped for Carlucci’s. Haven’t been for ages. Food was amazing, service also and the restaurant is lovely. I had caprese salad, lasagne and profiteroles. My partner had bruschetta and polo picante. I would say this is the best meal we have had in Dunfermline for as long as we can remember. Well done to the Management and staff for our great dining experience.

It is very easy to be biased when a restaurant is only ten minutes walk from your home, however, there must be 20+ that would fall into this category, so why is Carlucci's special. Let's start with the service! We are regular visitors but we observe the same consistent and friendly service being received by everyone so there are no "favourites" they are genuinely pleased to see everyone! If you have the pleasure of meeting "Carla" you are in for a treat. The food, this is simple, honest and flavourful, with a great choice of food for everyone (a separate vegetarian and vegan menu is available as well as catering for other dietary requirements). Atmosphere: there is always a buzz in Carlucci's, even if you are the last table in, the staff and background ambience keep the place alive. The toilets are accessible and well maintained (a big deal for me) and the restaurant is always clean and tidy. Did I mention it is only ten minutes walk? If you are in Dunfermline this is a relatively inexpensive meal of excellent quality. My only critique is a fairly restricted wine menu, this is based on consumer demand, I'd like something more upmarket sometimes!

My friend and I had a lovely lunch here yesterday. The restaurant was fairly quiet as we came in at end of lunch period. We were attended by two lovely waitresses Alisha and Rebecca, both of them very friendly and attentive. We both had the minestrone soup which was very tasty. My friend had the Arrabiatta, which she said was lovely. I had the gluten free Margarita, which I greatly enjoyed. Would be great to have had half pizza and half pasta dish (just a wee suggestion, an Edinburgh favourite offer this) However must mention that it’s great to have a restaurant who makes big effort for us Coeliacs, which is not always the case, so big thank you to owners and Chef for that! This was enhanced by the fact there was two very nice gf desserts on offer instead of the usual sorbet or plain ice cream. I enjoyed the moreish fudge cake and my friend was amazed at the very generous plate of gorgeous profiteroles, We also enjoyed a lovely Italian wine. All in all a great lunch here.

well ,as italian i have been in many awfull italian...ish restaurant ( edinburgh,fife, glasgow) but in Dunfermline Fife !!!!!!!!!,there's is this littele Jewell restaurant,attentive staff,friendly and professional,posh decor,chill space,modern,i had a Carbonara and was really good,the house wine was good quality,think the best was the homemade tiramisu',so my experience for the first time was 11 out of 10

Food was good as usual. Fairly quick service. The only thing that let me down is it didn’t have air con and it was far too hot in there.

I went on Saturday before a show at the theatre with my 9 year old son and my mum. The restraunt has a lovely atmosphere as soon as you enter. The girls were so friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing and the pre theatre menu is such a reasonable price and there is plenty of choice. We all enjoyed our experience here and will definetly be back if we are up that neck of the woods again. Would thoroughly recommend.

Food was very average. My cacciatore hadn’t been cooked long enough and wasn’t that hot. Pretty unremarkable. The staff were friendly and service prompt enough but they were a bit grubby if I’m honest. Would say very average.

Absolutely fantastic service and the food was amazing. Went with my daughter, grandson and daughter in law before we went to a nearby theatre to see a show. Their pre theatre menu was brilliant and they accommodated my 9 year old grandson too. Definitely recommend to anyone and we will be back.

Now this isn’t entirely a bad review but I am only scoring this on the price and quality of food. The staff were lovely and the service was very good from the two girls that served us. The young blonde girl and the young Italian girl were fantastic hosts. The food on the other hand was bland and underwhelming for the price. £30 for a sliver of ribeye steak, that would be difficult for any chef to cook to a decent temperature. I think if you order a steak you should at least have the enjoyment of cutting into it. But this was a slim, and unnecessary cut of ribeye that would have been better suited to a sandwich, with a bitter, acrid taste of a chargrill well due a clean. The seafood spaghetti was not impressive in the least. A bland one sauce fits all tomato offering, with frozen mussels and squid thrown in. Truly an abomination in Italian cooking and not worth nearly £18. My personal opinion is that this was once a good restaurant, but unfortunately now it’s a cheap run of the mill Italian eatery with poor chefs and even poorer quality produce. You can get better for a decent price elsewhere.

After a lovely walk around the city my girlfriend and I went into this lovely restaurant for a meal with family. Overall it was a fantastic experience. The staff are very friendly and inviting. The decor is lovely inside with beautiful pictures and atmosphere. The food was really good . For starters we shared the antipasto which was wonderful. The meats were great quality and the bruschetta was delightful. For our mains we went for lasagne and cannelloni ripieni . The lasagna was really good and reminded me of the one in Bologna. The ripieni was fantastic . The ricotta and spinach combination was superb and it made even better with the mozzarella and sugo combination. If you are in the city then do take a pop in as this place serves authentic Italian food at great prices.

Half past four on a Saturday, 5 professional blokes tried to eat here. Although admittedly they were busy-ish, we got a straight up NO....not a, "take a seat at the bar and we'll seat you soon", just a straight NO. Not a problem really as we went to Antioch, just up the road and had a splendid meal. Spent loads at Antioch, and would happily do so again. Would certainly give Carlucci's a massive swerve.

We chose to come here after seeing the consistently fantastic reviews however left pretty disappointed. Service was efficient and friendly so there were no complaints on that front whatsoever however I had a baked pasta with chicken and spinach and it was very bland and my friend had the seafood linguine but the salmon in it was so strongly smoked that it overpowered everything else. It’s unusual to see salmon in a seafood linguine but even more unusual for it to be smoked. She did say that the large prawn in her meal was perfectly cooked and it was just a shame that the salmon overpowered it. The Pinot Grigio wine we had wasn’t that enjoyable but I guess that’s down to personal preference. Unfortunately I won’t be back in a hurry as there are plenty of fab Italians in the town.

Scottish restaurant eating is generally a bit hit and miss - with more misses than hits. But Carlucci's is just wonderful. The food is great, the service is impeccable and the price is incredibly good value.

We had been to Carlucci in Dunfermline several times and were always impressed with the food, the atmosphere and the lovely lovely staff and owners.

Great to see a Vegan menu available..... loved the vegan lasagne. Will definitely be back to try more.

More authentic style Italian food. Very nice staff. I had a seafood risotto which was more al dente then I like but it is the way it is made in Italy. Otherwise, it was very good.

Carlucci’s is possibly one of my favourite Italian restaurants. I have been there quite a few times now and the food is consistently good, authentic but also imaginative. Great atmosphere and Staff always kind and helpful. A really enjoyable experience.

This restaurant is very well positioned in the centre of town. The food is authentic Italian fare and cannot be faulted ! It is hot, tasty and plentiful and the prices are right ! The staff are young and very friendly and helpful. ENJOY !!

We had a great lunch the day we went to Dumferline. The personal pizzas should have been shared they were so big. The Pasta Carbonara was declared the best of our 3 week trip. Service was prompt and friendly. Place was a little hard to find - GPS in tight places not super accurate. But it was so close to the Abbey that we didn't need to move the car. Definitely would recommend stopping here.
