Staff were lovely the food was great really good service I would massively recommend it. Lovely venue was lovely and I would highly recommend it

So disappointed. My husband took a long time reading revues and wanted to book somewhere nice for our 20th anniversary but the pasta dish ordered was so salty and inedible, it ruined our day. I complained-and the staff were apologetic, but full price was charged, although we left the food. Such a shame. Stop salting pasta so much!! It’s horrible. Also took away my unfinished drink. Very annoying!

As soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The restaurant is smart but relaxed. My cider was served in much the same fashion as a cocktail ie it looked special, rather than 'just a pint'. All our dishes were really tasty and the accompanying rice was light and fluffy. A great find!

This place is truly a hidden gem!! The food was perfectly cooked and super fresh, we ordered the seafood platter for two for lunch and it was an absolute divine! Highly recommended. I think the service was a bit slow at the beginning maybe they were understaffed but really, the staff were super nice and friendly. There was a construction site blocking the sea view outside, but nevertheless our experience was 10/10!! Definitely going again!

Not busy but lovely food and great service. Good menu choice and wine list. The fact that the restaurant has a private car park.

This is the best seafood I have eaten in a long time. The mussels were delicious, the monkfish was cooked to perfection, the service was second to non. The chefs certainly know what they are doing! If you’re in Liverpool treat yourself, you won’t regret it.

We visited last night and were really impressed with the Cargo Team. The quality of the food was excellent (we had the sea food risotto and the sea bass) and the portions were very generous. We arrived starving and left feeling full! The wine was lovely and the service excellent - very friendly and attentive, whilst being given plenty of space. The Team clearly put a huge amount of effort into making Cargo a really special yet also cosy dining experience- highly recommend 👌

Bloody lovely! First time visit for us, but I was excited given the excellent reviews Husband had the fish n chips, and I had the scallops and king prawns (starters) with a warm bread basket for dipping the sauce. Food was absolutely delicious. Service was impeccable. The location is perfect in the sense that it’s easy to find and you can park right outside. It’s only down point is the view isn’t great bcos of some metal barriers. Personally I’d rather have banging food and service than a picturesque view! Sorry there are no pictures in my review- I dived in before i remembered 😋😋💁🏻‍♀️

Good things come to those who wait allegedly, and so it has turned out this time as I thought I’d like to visit here when planning my stay in Liverpool back in … January 2023. Only downside is that I thought I could cook fish, turns out that I can’t, not to that standard anyway. Scalops and Monkfish delicious, service spot on, atmosphere great. Next visit to Liverpool will have to include a Visit to Cargo.

Went as a couple for an early dinner birthday celebration and found absolutely fantastic service and the most beautiful food. Loved how fresh everything was and just was cooked to perfect. Will definitely be going again.

Unfortunately, I am disappointed with the Cargo Seafood restaurant, my friends and I had dinner there on 24.12.2023, we ordered squid and oysters the next day we were terribly sick, we got poisoned for 2 days, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE CARGO SEAFOOD RESTAURANT

We were in this restaurant on 24.12.23.we had dinner for 2 for 86 pounds. On the second day, everyone had food poisoning, I was with friends, and all four were poisoned, if one or two had poisoning, I would still be silent and so everyone at once, so I don't recommend this restaurant

Sharer surf and turf was average, very small lobster not a lot of vegetables. Scallops for starter were not cooked the best, pan-fried but no colour

Service warm and friendly, couldn't do enough for me. The food sensationally good - scallop starter sauce was delicious - so good I asked for bread to mop it up. Scallops perfectly cooked. The monkfish keralan curry main was beyond belief wonderful. Generous amounts of fish, veg in the curry absolutely spot on. Tasty and hit the spot. Cargo gets my vote as best restaurant in Liverpool

Amazing food and amazing atmosphere

Part of a 3 night break in the Town we decided on lunch at Cargo. Even though quiet atmosphere was nice and chilled over lunch. I chose Mussels to start, delicious and plentiful. So much so my wife helped me out. For main, mouth watering Keralan mixed seafood curry. Bursting with flavour. Mild to medium spice, perfect for me. The son of the boss was a very friendly personable bloke. If you love seafood cooked properly and fresh go there. Draught Peroni ideal. Located next to the building works of the Isle of Man ferry terminal, maybe finished at some point. Uber from Lime Street £9. Recommend 😁🍻👍🏻

Really nice restaurant, predominantly fish. The fish dishes were perfect both in presentation and taste. Staff are nice with good attention to service. One let down, the gents toilet. Looks like the cleaner mopped the dirt into the corners. It lets things down.

We, like a lot of others, ordered their sharing seafood platter. It wasn’t cheap but it was good albeit a little bit beige. Dessert-wise the raspberry sorbet was way too icy.

The seafood dishes were all very tasty. The service was good. The restaurant was very busy when we visited.

My wife and I came here for her birthday meal, as it's one of our favourite restaurants. The seafood from this place is out of this world. The service was exceptional and the atmosphere was beautiful. We were well looked after and the Cargo team made sure we had a great overall experience! If I was on death row and I was asked to choose my last meal, I'd choose the monkfish fillets from Cargo.

Well the reviews lived up to expectations! This really is a hidden little gem cannot believe how long it’s been open and not visited until now. Don’t be put off by the exterior as inside is lovely, cosy and staff are so friendly. Food was amazing the oysters were delicious and the seafood risotto was al dente and had lots of seafood in it. May seem a little pricey on first look at the menu but you really do get what you pay for …. Quality! Will be back!

This is a gem of a restaurant. The seafood is delicious. The staff friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed our meals and the one downside was we couldn’t finish the main course! My husband and I enjoyed mussels followed by seafood risotto; excellent. Can’t wait to go again.

What a great dinner😍 I particularly like the scallop dish, which goes so well with the sauce. The lobster is so good. I’m pretty sure I heard is whisper “eat me”😂🤣😄 And the chef very attentive and the lobster claws were already opened. And the side dish of potato chips is a must. It’s really, really good! But the seafood cocktail shrimp was a bit salty.

Considering there always quiet in the afternoon you would think they would have afternoon snacks, the wine is very expensive adding the 10% service charge I'm not surprised it's quiet. It was so much better before the closure.

My son and I booked tonight and we had a great experience, wonderful staff, lovely surroundings and fabulous food!! Thank you. We will be back!

So glad we finally got to try this lovely restaurant.the reviews were very good and Cargo lived up to them. Food was fabulously tasty,fresh and well presented.so difficult to find places that do seafood really well but this place does.we had the scallops and king prawns to start(bread is a must for the sauce). For mains we had seafood linguine and seafood curry (linguine was the best out of the two)… both had lots of seafood in,no skimping there.The mojito maker definitely “put his heart into it”😉we will certainly return in the near future.10/10

This is the second time we have visited this restaurant and the food was excellent yet again and not overpriced. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. If you love seafood this is the place to visit, it is tucked away but well worth the visit. special thanks to Dale our waiter and the chef for feeding our grand daughter. We will definitely be visiting our new special place again and again. This is well worth a visit, open Tuesday to Sunday

Ordered fish and chips and seafood risotto,the fish and chips ok and the risotto lacked flavour and the rice was overcooked and seafood was under cooked. Service was very good apart from that.

Possibly the best seafood restaurant I have visited in the UK. The food was exceptional, as was the service. We went there for our granddaughters birthday and the staff were brilliant with her. All in all, I simply could not fault it. Although it’s not in the city centre (it’s in the Alexndra building next to the Isle of Man ferry terminal) it is well worth the fairly short walk. This was the first time that we had visited but we can’t wait to go back!

I’ve previously left a good review for this place but my opinion has changed a lot since. I always come here with my boyfriend and we always spend a bit of money each time just with the 2 of us. We ALWAYS tip too. Whatever their service fee is, we never have an issue. Tonight my food wasn’t the same as usual, I didn’t complain I simply just stopped eating it. I wasn’t going to say anything but it was the waitress who came over and offered to replace the dish. She was lovely and so was Dale at this point. The chef also came out and apologised which we really appreciated. We told him the food is always amazing it was only tonight and not a big deal at all. When we received our receipt from Dale, I asked kindly if the service fee could be removed. Just as the meal was below the usual standard and the replacement meal I likely won’t be eating. I paid £20 for the main just for myself including the sauce which I was charged an extra £2 for. This is where my problem starts, Dale’s reaction was absolutely uncalled for. His mood changed instantly, he was so rude, words can’t even describe. As soon as I paid with the contactless on my phone he stormed off with the card machine. I literally could never ever go back there again as it’s so awkward and so unprofessional. I can’t believe he acted the way he did, I’m even speechless now. He’s usually so lovely but this was just a completely different person, a horrible person. I would never ever go back there again and I won’t be recommending this restaurant again to any of my friends like I always do. Food is lovely but if there’s a time when there is any issues it should be okay to raise them. Not even just for us but so the chefs know what to consider for the future. The chef was receptive of this and acknowledged it and apologised and couldn’t be kinder and more understanding to us. He was lovely! But unfortunately it seemed that Dale thought it still deserved a tip, but I consider a tip to be a bonus for a better than expected experience which unfortunately on this occasion it wasn’t. I really am being more than reasonable and like I’ve said, I’ve been here on so many occasions in a short period of time and I’ve always tipped. I’m so shocked after tonight’s experience. I wish I knew what the lady was called who served us - she was so lovely and always is. I will never ever come back here.

Best seafood restaurant in Liverpool!!!! Both of us agreed the next time we are in Liverpool we will definitely be back. This is without doubt a gem of a place. The chef cooked every dish to perfection and our waiter was wonderful too. Everything is freshly made and delicious. If there is one place to eat in Liverpool, then this is it! Not for those on budget. However the food is exceptional and the service is of the highest level. The seafood is just magnificent on the two visits we have enjoyed the scallops as starters which were just amazing. The plate of warm bread was very welcome to disk up the fabulous sauce they came in. On my first visit I had the prawn and crab salad which was just beautiful. I then had the mussels as a main. They were delicious. My wife really enjoyed her seabass which was enormous. Would I vote again when I Liverpool? Without a doubt.

We recently in Liverpool and had a meal at Cargo seafood restaurant. We’ve eaten here before, and enjoyed the food so thought it was worth another visit. We had seafood cocktail, and scallops to start. Main course were seafood pasta, whole sea bass, and monkfish with tiger prawns, and ice cream for dessert. We were here midweek so it wasn’t too busy, but still had a good atmosphere. The staff were very efficient, and happy to chat and take a photo for us. Prices were average, about £50 pp including pre dinner drinks and wine with the meal.

If you like seafood, you will love Cargo Restaurant! We have a meal here each time we visit Liverpool, and have never been disappointed. This time we enjoyed seafood cocktail, sea bass, monkfish, seafood pasta among other delicious dishes. Well worth the short walk along the waterfront!

We had a lovely seafood platter. The food was great and the service was good. We were staying at the nearby Crown Plaza and the walk along the riverside was lovely.

Lovely restaurant a little out of the way at far northern end of Docks. The food was beautifully made, dished up and tasted great. I had the monkfish and prawns. The manager and waitress were very pleasant and kind. I was worried whether one of the dishes I ordered had something I was allergic to in it. They went out of their way to check and double check with the chef to reassure me.

What a lovely place! Went there with my husband without any pretension- and I’m glad to say that I was it was a very good find. I ordered the seafood risotto and my husband the Seabass- both were good, but the Seabass was from another world. The seasoning, the texture and teste was incredible. The waitress very attentive- and what I imagine was the owner or maybe manager was walking around and checking on each guest to see if everything was according their expectations and offering them suggestions. Visited recently after hearing all the amazing verdicts on the food. We ordered the garlic prawns in starters, creamy seafood pasta and the halibut for mains and chocolate cheesecake to finish. While the starters and dessert were fabulous, I found the mains, especially the fish underwhelming.

I've walked past Cargo almost daily for the last couple of years but finally got to go in last Friday. I'd heard good things from friends and family and can now finally confirm the food is delish. I would definitely recommend the generously sized mussels as an appetizer and the curried halibut was the clear winner when it came to main course. If you're a fish/seafood lover then this is well worth a visit and even if you aren't there's a variety of non-sea related dishes to choose from so it's worth a visit for the view alone.

Might have been 4 or even 5 stars if we could have the oysters. They were just sold out before we placed the order. Without the oysters, we had pasta and fish and chips. The fish was good and the pasta came in huge portion and the tomato sauce was good.

Had some oysters for starter. Excellent. The 1/2 lobster with pasta was nice, maybe a bit less garlic. Pasta could be cooked better. Fish n chips could be a bit more tasteful, chips for my taste were too thick cuttet and not crispy enough. Been there in the afternoon, toilets not really clean. Very warm welcoming staff. Would recommend to go there.

We loved this place. Right at the end of Princes Dock, you have to avoid the barriers around the extensive work going on. The staff could not have been friendlier or more welcoming. The seafood is deliciously prepared. The oysters tasted of the sea and the monkfish was meaty and cooked to perfection. Loved it.
