Cardwell arms is a hidden gem... excellent friendly staff, great pub and very good food 👌 the prices are fantastic too... all in all a great experience! I'm defo going back.

Turned up for our meal. Ordered my 16 year old a shandy (perfectly legal if accompanied by an adult with a meal) to be told he couldn't have it when it came. Sat for 25 minutes and no one bothered to take our order. I showed the bar staff the Government website allowing a 16/17 year old to drink with a meal. Made no difference. Rubbish service. We left and won't return or recommend

Went for my wife's birthday. Young 16 year old singing, he was brilliant and the found extremely good and value for money

Had the pleasure of dining at The Cardwell last night warm welcome drinks brought to our table the best pint of Coors i have had in long time super cold and on a happy hour offer. We ordered the two currys for £30 what a deal. We had onion bhaji and a chicken curry hot and a beef curry medium beautifully flavoured and cooked stayed hot, served with rice and chips and naan bread. A ridiculous amount of quality food for £30 served by friendly staff in a nice bright clean pub. Thoroughly enjoyable few hours thank you.

Lovely little pub, brilliant staff and the food was amazing. We went for the munchy Mondays menu and it didn't dissapoint. Would 100% recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.

This is one of our favourite places to eat and drink . Staff are always friendly and accommodating wherever possible . Food is top notch at all times . We do usually eat on a munchy Monday due to work commitments but 5 🌟 all around .

Always love coming here, relaxed atmosphere, staff attentive and quick. Food is amazing every time without fail. Always really good choice, top quality ingredients and freshness. Such good value especially on a Monday. We came here for Christmas dinner also which we thoroughly enjoyed. Nothing was too much trouble. Would always recommend to others to come.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating, we felt welcomed immediately. The food options were fantastic and we weren’t disappointed as the food was absolutely gorgeous. The portion sizes were brilliant. We were really pleased with the price and we felt we definitely got value for money. The atmosphere was great and we will definitely look forward to coming again.

Absolutely fantastic food and unbelievable value for money! We regularly eat at The Cardwell (and sister pub The Spinners at Cowling) and have never been disappointed. The Munchy Monday deal is such a steal for the quality of food served. A real gem of Adlington/Chorley.

We visited several times over the past few months & also had take-away meals as we live not far. The food is very good quality pub food with decent sized portions & the staff are really friendly. Their Munchie Monday is excellent value with the same high standard of food

Went for Christmas dinner, absolutely lovely food, cooked to perfection, the lamb was cooked beautifully, doesn't look like loads on the picture but it was a huge chunk of lamb and I was absolutely stuffed after a starter and main. Highly recommended

6 of us had lunch here today. The food and the beer wwre absolutely first class. The prawn curry I had was as good as any curry I have eaten in a very long time. Prpoer homemade food, cooked brilliantly. Service was gteat too.

Wonderful food an a Monday night. Was going to have 3 courses from the munchy Monday menu but glad we only had 2. The portion sizes were brilliant but I must compliment the chefs for beautiful flavoursome food which hit all the right notes. We will definitely be returning and thank you all for a lovely evening. Visited a few times for food. The curry was amazing, very fresh and tasty. Home made chips. Portion sizes good. Clean pub and barmaid nice. Just a shame not many in and we were the only ones dining although a few more arrived whilst there. The chef obviously enjoys cooking as theur results are so tasty! Definitely recommend the food although the atmosphere a little flat as hardly anyone in. Please go and try the food....well worth it 😊

Dropped in on Sunday and the place was busy . Managed to get a table which was good . The food took rather a long time to arrive but it was very busy. Food was good . Service was not quite as good but still ok . No table checks whatsoever throughput the meal . Had to get up to ask for salt etc but no great hardship . Would recommend this place . Would have been 5 stars but just lacking a tad . Will definitely be back and I will book first !

Black and white pudding stack with poached egg was poor quality. Egg was solid,black pudding like rubber,white pudding had texture of oatibix and the whole was draped with a thick,beef-flavoured 'sauce' which tasted very much like the stroganoff served to a friend. Main course was much better. I did not feel that I could complain as I was in an organised group. I will not be going there again

Monday is a budget night excellent food and brilliant value

Didn't have food but a lovely experience...

Came for a meal today & have to say the service was shocking. Not once did someone come to our table asking if we wanted a drink. Had to chase them round to ask them. Wanted to order food, again had to shout someone over. (It was not busy either the staff just seemed to be wondering around doing god knows what.) The main meal was amazing the food here is really nice and this is the only reason i gave 3 stars. No offers of condiments with our meal, just put down on the table and walked off. When we had finished no one came to clear our plates until we stacked them at the side of the table making it obvious we had finished. Had to shout someone over to order desserts. They all came at different times and were vile , just a bowl of cream with half of meringue plonked in the middle and they called it eaton mess?! Ice cream was full of actual ice. Does anyone care about customer service anymore?? shame because the main chef cooking the hot meals obviously works hard here, but safe to say i wont be returning after that service today.

Great food, cracking little place… can get a little cold if sat near to the front door on cold days. But it wouldn’t put us off calling again for lunch! Lovely presented tasty food! We’ll be back!

We really like this pub, we’ve only used it for eating in with family, but the atmosphere is friendly, chilled and comfortable, the food isn’t the cheapest tbf, but, it’s good! You pay for what you get! It’s not standard frozen pub grub, it’s really nice. Portions are quite big too, so you do get value for money. Car park is a little bit of a squeeze sometimes but road parking is available, and with the great beer garden in the right weather it’s a great place for eating inside and out. I know this pub does all sorts of entertainment, singers/quizzes etc, we’ve never been to these, but I believe they’re very good, so worth mentioning for what the pub has to offer. Good businesses deserve good reviews.

I ate there today with three friends, one of whom had eaten there before. She had raved about the food. So based on her recommendation we all went today for lunch. To be honest it doesn’t look much from the outside. A bog standard looking pub to be honest. However inside it was nicely decorated and the seats were comfortable. The menus were a little tatty but the selection on offer was wide and varied. I had the gammon with pineapple and all the trimmings. It was gorgeous. One friend had the vegetarian Sunday lunch. The other two had the Stroganoff, I think? My mind has gone blank, sorry. It had beef in a sauce with rice and chips. Whatever it was they all loved their meals too. We had a coffee, also nice, but no puddings as we were all stuffed. I can honestly say it was a fantastic meal as was the service by the young staff. We will be visiting again.

Great food and very good value for money

Been several times now and particularly like the Monday evening menu where you can get 3 courses for under £13, this is getting down to Spoons prices but with far far better quality and you're supporting a local business. Recommended.

Fantastic hot food lovely staff coming again

We went as a group from Tesco Talking Tables. We were asked to pre order as there were about 16 of us. The food was plentiful and hot. The service was and the staff were friendly. We went on Munchies Monday, so the main course was £ 8.95. I think £ 10.95 for 2 courses can't remember 3 courses. Would recommend a visit.

Just had a meal here. Absolutely gorgeous, friendly staff very attentive. Creamy garlic mushrooms roast beef dinner, the beef was so tender. Cheesecake for sweet, all this for £12.95 on the Monday munchies madness menu. Very good portions. I would recommend the food here 💯. Will definitely be back for more.

Went for a Quiz night really good atmosphere.

Went for Christmas dinner. £80 a head for 3 courses plus mince pie and tea or coffee after. It was absolutely delicious. And the service from the staff was brilliant. Nothing was rushed, all came at a nice place, just enough time between courses and a smile on every staff members face. Not to busy. But enough people in to create a nice atmosphere. Would 100% recommended. Thanks again to the team for an amazing day.

Fantastic food, and plenty of it. We ordered Tapas where we tend to order a decent amount of, usually because they tend to be small portions. Not at the Cardwell, I don't often leave food.

Excellent food, friendly service and I was really surprised by the vegan options, good choice, great portion sizes. I highly recommend!

Curry was great, just a shame it had been happy hour and some local scruffs sounded like they were auditioning for a new Jeremy Kyle pilot episode.

We ate lunch before our walk to Rivington Pike. This pub is typical heritage and unpretentious absolutely comfortable and offering the best of pub food, big portions cooked to the highest standards, well done to all and thank you.

Visited for Sunday lunch after a lovely walk round one of the local reservoirs. I had an excellent roast beef for about £12. Generous portion with good variety of veg. The homemade curry was also lovely. Had a pint of Bowland Pheasant Plucker followed by one of White Witch by Moorhouses. Both excellent. Lovely friendly staff.
